US WAS OUR FRIEND
WE THOUGHT TO THE VERY END
TO TRUMP WILL NOT BEND
We have many reasons why we shouldn't be possessive
The growth of our relationship has been more than progressive
What is it that we fear when it comes to each other
What is causing us to hold on so tight and to smother
Becoming each other's prized possession was automatic
Through our common similarities we're each other's fanatic
Yes, we realize that what we have is rare
The work we put into our friendship, other's wouldn't dare
Most prized possessions are not just taken at face value
This is how you see me and it's definitely the way I see you
Seeing we both feel this way, there's no need feel put out
When others spend time with us and learn what we're about
You will always be my trophy and I'll be your gold
No one can cause what we have built to grow cold
We've became so close to each other, until there's an ownership
Only you and I understand the way we're running this friendship
We hold each other very dear and close to our hearts
We only allow distance to be the reason we're apart
We're each other's prized possession that can't be replaced
It's my lifetime goal to cherish you forever not just today
Yes I may be loud at times but I speak quietly with you
Yes I may appear nonchalant but care deeply about you
Just because I'm social doesn't make everyone my friend
I may have love for everyone but only for you my back will bend
I may share things with others that may appear deep
But the details and shameful things I give to you to keep
With others I enjoy conversation and chemistry
With you I enjoy the security of our built history
I may enjoy the limelight but I also need you by my side
Extroverts can tell who comes along just for the ride
I may at times appear to not take any one seriously
You're the one I'll fight to keep and would do so fiercely
Extroverts appear careless but they have insecurities
Being a social chameleon isn't their only ability
Just as an introverted person doesn't let just anybody in
We're the same, but when we do we're in it till the end.
Tomorrow will be the day,
The day everything will be okay
And when tomorrow is here,
I’d like to have you near
So we can laugh like before
And this time we won’t separate anymore.
We will talk about the old days
N how much we loved each other always
And even though you had to part,
I’ve carried you in my heart.
And then i will see,
That you’ve been here with me
Oh how happy we will be.
Tomorrow will be the day,
The day ill be okay.
The day i get to hear your voice
Lord knows i will rejoice.
Cuz u were my best friend
I cant wait till tomorrow,
cuz the waiting will end.
I love you best friend
Always and forever,
And just like in this life,
In the next we’ll be together.
We’ll laugh and play,
Just like before
Only this time
We won’t separate no more.
Thank you for believing in me,
Even when I can't see,
The light shining so brightly.
Something is blinding me,
Binding me to my thoughts.
I fall distraught,
Forgetting what I was Taught.
Kind to myself I am not,
Putting me in a tight spot.
Plotting to get free,
Living abundantly.
Happily being me,
Balancing duality.
Every day getting better,
Quality time together,
I AM My best friend forever.
played with his toes;
feet solidly suited,
two months old
in my BFF’s arms.
I’m getting over cold,
or as I told her,
“I’d get in her business,”
and swoop the fella
into my arms -
what a charm.
the miracle is
there are three.
my friend thought
she’d tally zero.
tangible those toes;
and the two year old
is shyer than shy,
sporting a ponytail.
the five year old
outshines;
Chucky Cheese
can’t keep up.
he will charm
the kindergarteners.
blessed is my BFF -
I smile at God winks.
*BFF - best friends forever
Oh, the joy earned,
Having a friend like you
A model of the ways of life
Next to me in innocence.
To open up my heart,
Not afraid for you to see
Or too displeased to care.
To rest in silence,
Savoring our tender tie
Oh, so close to you sharing
Moments of our lives passed.
The soft aura that we shared,
Throughout this friendship,
The purest of all.

Think of me as the friend
You want others to be
Despite my special interest here
That goes beyond just tea
I'll always keep it quiet
I have to as I know
But that doesn't mean we can't share things
That friends do without show
We can have our private book club
And weave and wend our way
Through different kinds of literature
From novels to bouquets
Crosswords, Connections, Wordle
I love to play them all
With my favorite, coolest pardner
No challenge is too small
Music was the catalyst
The commencement of a dream
That started several years ago
While being on a team
And since the time that happened
I've come to love alot
My priceless, precious, bluebird
The one true friend I've got
there’s a halo hanging from her head everyone agrees~je t'adore
sublime sneaky snake come slither by~who directs traffic in the grass
pal owl perched on glove~wise bird see more less spoken hears her muse recite
Your heart is so deep like your hair that swings around,
You give me tingles and Now I need it more,
I Love the way youre, I go and sugar crash
Billion stars Indeed, Still no compared to you,
You light up my world , so Be my rest girl!
I always think of you when I'm feelin' down,
Wanna pull you closer and give a forehead kiss!,
Be my lady Queen , If you wanna be!
I like you girl, So you gotta know it!
BFF
We met by accident, her and I.
I did not think she liked me at all.
Now we are best friends.
How did that happen?
I do not know.
God knew I was sad and lonely.
He knew that my heart was crying.
So he found a way to make me laugh…
Out loud…
Everyday…
We write books and poems,
share secrets and pretend to “be’s…”
travelers to far lands,
astronauts in space,
guardian’s of worlds yet to be explored,
by us first…
Thrift shops, china shops and print shops,
We don’t have favorites… really,
Except time that is spent with each other.
Do you like this?
Do you like that?
How funny can that possibly bee? (be)
You are a gift.
and…
I am,
grateful.
He rushes to greet me
purest affection
His happiness boundless
perceived perfection
To a fault faithful
semper fidelis
To protect me, he's zealous
~ of my attention, quite jealous
Last year, when I came in a bit late,
I lost all my hopes, though you didn't mean it.
I didn't know that you didn't know,
but there wasn't a hard feeling, not one.
But then, you came to stand by me,
and that feeling you gave to me...
it still remains, unchanged.
We changed, all of us together,
now we're a hard wall
that cannot be offended.
Our foundation laid, thick and fast,
from one look to holding hands.
I never thought,
it would be this powerful.
Words are too weak for the feeling you gave me.
But I mustn't forget my thanks.
You had built a shelter
for my innocent soul to live,
and though one day... I'd have to fly away,
I shan't forget that roof, which you still holds by me.

Hey, Peyton, remember the time
When the snow was melted along with the rime?
When the sun was mild and the weather sublime?
We went out on picnic away from the dust and the grime.
We all took our hampers with fruit and some lime,
(I brought along some candy, bought out for a dime).
Momma packed some sandwiches with bacon which was prime,
And some very fine chutney of rosemary and thyme.
While my cousins and mom played charades and mime,
Off we both went for the grassy knoll to climb.
Our laughter peeled, tinkling like wood chime,
You were the prince, I was your heim.
Peyton, I remember that it was close to lunchtime,
I rode piggyback for no reason or rhyme.
You slipped of a sudden as you stepped on some slime,
We tumbled and rolled down the slippery 'cline.
I am sorry, dear Peyton, real sorry I 'm,
It was in fun, in those days of playtime.
I'd've done it again if there was another time,
For kid's to be prankish is never a crime!
(How's this for Mom's contest of Monorhyme?)

Last Night/ This morning
Last night...
Just a little sense of panic
one of those moments,
when everyone seems to have fallen away from you.
And in my delusion I believed
my best friend is gone
and I hyperventilated and felt sick
See, shes the only one who knows me in the real skin I live in.
I panic and worry, I get all caught up cuz Ive nothing better to do
And I know in my head shes busy, 4 kids and a husband and work and Im not at the top of the list like when we were 17
So I quit calling, decided to breathe
And wait it out
This morning...
I woke up still feeling lost without her
And a few hours went by
And I showered and ate breakfast alone in the quiet.
And a few hours later
She called
Its instant relief
It was all in my head again.
And so she came to visit me and did all the wonderful things she does
And maybe its wrong to feel this way
But she helps me get myself back
She snaps me out of the darkness I create.
Grateful.
