Best Wash Away Poems
The air outside has grown still again,
The leaves on the trees have all turned red,
The emptiness washes over me now,
the silence fills my head.
I sit here wondering what might have been,
Oh what we could have made,
had we seen it through til the end,
could we ever be saved?
Dreams of you, still fill my head.
Visions of your eyes, your lips, the things you said.
You tell me that its alright, and it'll all be ok.
Just before I wake up, and you wash away.
I got a picture in the mail today, oh it made me cry,
He's got your nose, and she's got my eyes,
I can see you're alright , maybe I'll be ok.
I wish I could wake up and wash it all away.
I never should have walked the road, I always chose to walk.
I never should have let you go, chosen not to talk,
I'm left here all alone now, left to start anew.
But I don't want to start again if it's not with you.
The twists of fate drive deep
on a sleepless winter's night
drowning in the depths of despair
wondering if you were ever really there
Free floating away in your fantasy
as the hint of whiskey hits the brain
surrendering to a soothing smile
and succumbing to the cherry grain
I'm the ice melt evoking all your flavors
that you would never dare to throw away
drink in all of me this finest hour
and into the night I'll wash away your grey
*Fiction, inspired by a photo
The old man sat on the bench,
Holding only his coat and cup of water in his hand
He had given away everything he has
Now, he only has his voice to give and his arms for a hug
Wise words for the fools, who think they know everything
But do not even see what is right in front of them
Or the self-centered rich people who stomp on this creation
Without noticing a flower or budding tree
Where would they be without the sun?
The shade in the heat or not a single day of rain?
This man who is likely judged in his raggedy clothes,
Watches the world in dismay, as evil floods the country land
While powerful people control those who are blind
No-one walking by would know if he could give one more thing,
It would be his life, if it could wash away this evil
Save the people who love and restore everlasting joy
Like the joy he saw in the faces of everyone he gave to before
He looked down at the flower in the grass, next to the bench
Instead he spoke to the flower and said, I know you understand

Can Not Wash Away All Your Pain
I can not make it rain,
can not wash away all your pain
Those dark clouds steal,
the joy that should be your thrill
I can not stop those hurts,
your heart cries out in spurts
No shoulder can relieve,
misery or the anguish you conceive
I can hold you tonight,
kiss you deeply, stop the fright
Make a fortress for you to rest,
giving you my all, my very best
You can put your trust,
as my love for you is a must
You can send your tears,
into my heart with no deep fears
Together we can both renew,
this fantastic love we always knew
As I hold you to fall asleep,
let my heart be yours to always keep
If I could make it rain,
wash away all your shattering pain
Moving heaven and earth,
gifting you my soul for all its worth
I would then sacrifice,
give it all, pay any heavy price
Set my life to just serve you,
face against the world, just we two!
Robert J. Lindley, 02-05-2015
I read a poem tonight and it so struck me that this
just poured out. I stayed up late getting it down before
it ran away! I hope it may inspire others to comfort
a person in pain and needing a friend. Life is far too
short for us to live so selfishly as to ignore those
in great pain and great need.
I see the sail disappearing
Upon the horizon blue.
Waves crashing on the shore
As mind thinks back to you.
You are like the sail
That no longer do I see.
Seems that a waft of wind
Has taken you from me.
Was it not so long ago
We sat upon this shore?
Words whisper of tomorrow.
We'd be one forever more.
How we laughed and giggled,
Waves washed between our toes
Words of I love you
From our lips so easily flowed.
Our bodies so entangled
On the blanket we did share.
Made love under moonbeams
As waves threw mist up in the air.
That was forty years ago
We made love upon this shore.
Still have that blanket
I will keep for ever more.
You are no longer with me
The tide has taken you away.
But in my mind and heart
There you will never stray.
So come sit here beside me
Whisper I love you in my ear.
Hold me close and kiss me
And wash away my tears.
Peace or violence, with humans you never know,
When love will sprout or when seeds of hatred will be sown,
When in humanity & compassion people may find satiety,
Or when the lust to kill will choke up all their pity.
The bitterness in the human heart is like a patch of rust,
More the time you provide for it to go but spread all over it must,
For all the time inadvertently it is exposed & encouraged by all,
Till it begins to loom bigger than the source which started it all.
Peace, harmony & brotherhood prevail in times of trouble,
Which in the company of like men seems to disappear like a bubble,
It is true that in times of need often united they stand,
And peace regales on this Earth as the people live hand in hand.
But at times mad violence destructs this harmony & peace,
Fear & terror of its outcome each person’s face does it kiss,
Someplace this hatred reaps for someplace it had been sown,
And try as you might it never seems destructed however often it is stoned.
But sometimes love overcomes this hatred sown so long,
And love itself sways the people with its lovely song,
And acts of love are done worldwide to make other humans aware,
That love alone may be able to remove all traces of hatred.
Humanity & compassion exist in traces forever,
But it needs a huge catastrophe to make its presence felt all over,
And then unbelievable acts of humanity & kindness are done,
By risking one’s own life to save that of a fellow human.
However merciless killing sometimes throws away this compassion,
When over petty matters are evoked unnecessary flood of emotions,
When sentiments are hurt over religion, creed & caste,
Their intensity provokes acts that threaten to drain away humanity at last.
All this is nothing but the result of a turbulence of emotions,
That creates a cyclone in human heart with vigor & aggression,
Come rain, come storm; keep only love, humanity, peace, compassion & kindness,
& wash away if you can from this human heart all hatred, violence, enemity & bitterness…
I pray words can come to me one day
-Without the lingering of sorrow and regret.
That one day I can trust and hope and pray
-Without remembering our woes.
I pray one day my soul to cleanse
To be awashed anew again
But today my lord I ache to know…
These words are but the shell
Of faith we used to know.
Why do I speak to thee?
When inside these vows are dead to me.
How do I find that long-lost love?
The humility and honor to know it’s true.
I can not start this book again,
And skip the pages I’d rather not see.
I can not erase the lines
That should never have to be .
So tell me Lord, how to start a different book.
Define that word “faith”,
so I can comprehend this new chapter.
Help me rember how faith and hope inspires-
And how belief creates the miracles worth living.
Relentless yearning for the edge of the horizon
where the nascent sun unveils the demure dawn,
brings me across million miles of dreaming detour
to the cyan sea shining with tinge of fervent allure.
I stand whelmed at the periphery of primal vastness,
its boundless joy dancing on crests of surging waves,
spreads tapestry of pearls for me on the supine shore,
returns flowing free to fathomless serenity of oblivion.
The embrace of silver sheet swashes your footprints,
as waves sing to the moonbeam ballet of blue night
I search my mermaid floating away on stardust trail
and set sail on serenading winds to where my heart is.
A rolling pebble tossing alone on the tides of time
I’m not spent yet, submerged in rapture of reverie.
Through my fingers I don’t let the golden sands slip
for I build a palace for you, the sea can’t wash away.

From where I sit the ocean is calling.
It is far too beautiful to put into words.
It's so welcoming, calling you in with it's foaming ripples.
What a peaceful way to die.
Why not let the water take you away?
Pull you under, suffocate you, rip the last breathe from
your throat.
Make your heart beat slowly dim until it beats no more.
Life is hard, this death is easy.
As your going under your life flashes before your eyes.
The pain, the loneliness, the fear.
The waves wash it away, wash away the horrible life.
Wash away a life better off not lived.
Wash away the pain, wash away the loneliness, wash
away the fear.
Wash it all away and end it.
End it until a another lonely body takes a look at the
beautiful disaster that can look so perfect and within a
few minutes be the most murderous of all beasts.
It's in there I know it is I saw it,
It made my skin crawl,
My mouth is dry,
Backing away not knowing what to do,
The family is out there is only the dog,
What should I do?
I'm terrified but I need the loo,
It's still in the bath I've seen it,
I look away it's no good it has to go,
The shower washes it down the plug hole,
Relief
The sun leaves today
For the rain to come and play
To water the land
As it will cool off the air
Wash away thoughts, for new ones

evil

cruel unspeakable horrors

I feel strange today.
Although hard to explain,
It seems as if my memories
Have washed away.
Those same memories
I found so precious and so dear,
Those memories of you and I,
Seem to have disappeared.
Who am I to forget
Memories of my first love?
But how can I possibly remember
Something I'm not reminded of?
I still love you, even though
I've screamed and I've cried.
All I can say about our
Relationship, though, is, I tried.
