Best Venturesome Poems

Vouch For

I am patently smitten
With utmost contempt ,they treat any mention of its reality
The realm of the illusory is its permanent abode
Its at best transient , an ephemeral indulgence ,
A violet on a morbid pathway
The ill-fated roadside plant whose demise is lurking in the shadows.
A facade ,an imaginary concept birthed out of delusion and denial
Disapproval and detest permiate the dense air
whenever the subject comes up
The thickness ,stifling the atmosphere of any remaining residues of hope
Intense apprehension carved from a litany of painful experiences
But what's the essence of life if not the defiance of history? -
The obliteration of barriers thought impervious?,
The ******** of walls long believed
to be figments of overambitious imaginations ?,
The charting of venturesome trails in the perilous jungle?
Don't you just love it when you see tables turn ?
Isn't it a sight to cherish when the applecart gets upset?

I am utterly smitten ,
by that penetrating ,self assured gaze -Impeccable as ever
Cascading through my being like African okra in an enamel plate
Fluid and engrossing
The ravishing smile , aggressively addictive ,
which almost always succeeds in changing the climate in my spine
The lips which drip unfettered mellifluousness,
A song without want of both depth and sweetness
Something that only such a golden soul can exude
The archetype of perfection ..
Like a gazelle in the Savanna plains ,
grace and elegance attends her gait always
This is where even the most intransigent hearts ,
are rendered malleable and ductile
And utter patency becomes the heart's portion

Have you met my lady cat
A most prestigious aristocrat
She's of extremely dignified ascent
Genuine regal blue blood descent
Everyday might as well be a holiday
My lady’s a class act in every way
Elegant and graceful as they come
Madame de Pompadour quite venturesome
Prances proud in her queenly manner
That's how she graces my humble manor

Christy, Christafur, Cat

Christy, Christafur Cat.

Was a southern cat.
Her ancestors came from the south of Spain.

His Great, Great, Grandfather was a
venturesome Cat who came across the Seven Seas.

Not Long after that he met another southern
Cat This one from the heart of Georgia.

As the years came and went History was
 recorded by some other Cats.

To which Christy, Christafur, Cat asks.
Why is that? How do you know that?
Can you prove that? Is that a fact?

My dear Christy, Christafur, Cat I
really don’t know. You are such a Loveable
Cat. That is that. YOU CAT!

Premium Member Summoning My Animus

You swam deep into the water,
but I was too afraid of drowning…
we could have plunged together and allowed
cool bubbles immerse in waves,
gliding on love’s venturesome communion.

But I was reluctant, quite fearful of being
engulfed by sea monsters … until the Neptune
within me emerged like a warrior,
inviting my animus- instinct to feel
that breathtaking sense of courage, of grit.

And we would cruise the waves inside,
to float on a steady rafter beyond moonscape
where real commitment could thrive,
as I let my female ***** be your co- lifeguard.

This conscious awakening is now a fearless hunt
where my readiness trails an explorer’s length,
with a dare of passion, rising and ebbing…
this mix graceful yet bold ; my yin –yan undaunted.

Silly Fears

Its not a mid-life crisis,
it just took me all these years
To realize the foolishness
of all my silly fears.

See, my mom, she worried all her days
and "caution" was her song.
She saw the worst scenario
in whatever could go wrong.

Her fears, disguised "protection",
kept me safe and always near.
But in my heart and mind and soul,
"protection" birthed more fear.

"Being careful" rippled over
into all my inhibitions,
And "safety first" dictated
every venturesome decision.

So, here I am, half-way through
this careful life I lead
And now, I see there's so much more
than fears I have believed.

She meant so well and did her best
by helping me 'beware'
But the curious world whispers,
“discovery is not a dare.”

So forgive me if you think I've thrown
caution to the wind,
I'm just tired of being careful,
wonderin' how things might've been.

Third Rails
                by Odin Roark

One’s temptable 20's say “flirt with it.”
40's say “not on my watch.”
60's say “made it across the tracks.”

Home free’s reality.

Off the full-retiree goes.
Golf course by day.
Country club by night.

Home free for some.

Off the semi-retiree goes.
Part time work at home by day.
TV at night for armchair ventures.

Most arrive there.
Some realize more choice.

Third rail respect
sees no difference
from 20 to 60 years and beyond.
Accepts ubiquitous warnings.
Never flirts.
Never assumes immunity.
Never considers chancing too far.

Third rail addiction
knows not retirement,
remaining ready to wander through unlocked doors,
strolls through parks at night,
views chance-taking as senility-deterrent.

Most forget…

Consciousness can wane,
and like a a subway schedule,
mobility coming along less often after sundown,
often with fewer start and stop choices.

Still

With anxious rush hours easily avoided
more leisure movement thrives,
car to car,
platform to platform,
late nights,
early mornings,
yesterday’s have-tos left to others.

For a choice few…

A venturesome life learned early
remains an option,
an awareness,
a forever reminder
that forward motion never advances by itself.

Those same few…
Understand Time's playful third rail,
the click and clack,
of sparks and fire for mischievous die-hards.

Vicissitude

It wasn't quick
but it seemed to happen so.
The indecisive thoughts soon became quite clear,
but not exactly as crystal would be.
It's easy to see
why it could be frowned upon;
many have ended hurt,
scarred,
and even put to eternal rest.
However, she was undaunted;
she knew her misconceptions could only be
beneficial.
A swift turn and a venturesome soul
shaped her into a beautiful love song,
a hysterical vision of black and blue.
Throughout the tough goings
and a shattered lullaby or two,
she settled, though erratic,
into a breathtaking work of art
made of misfortunes and lust.
"Change has come and left,
but it shall never be truly gone,"
She cried in her lucid dreams
of the present.

Premium Member Witching Hour Minstrel

Whatever happened to the twelve o ‘clock rambler,
nocturnal venturesome brushstroke sort,
they paint sound and city pastel,
never at a loss for inspiration,
weather neither bar nor barrier,
in the face of whirlwind snowfall,
freezing ice, torrential downpour,
within themselves, he, she, they plod on,
hardship is adopted, never cast aside,
while others brazenly squirm,
wallow in uproarious denial,
wilt before the slightest storm,
taking flight in arid comfort zone,
shelter is their first convenient port,
not for stoic diarist this threadbare exit,
exodus of the half-hearted humbug,
but ironclad ilk stubbornly remain,
eyes and ears are substitute antennas,
alert does not begin an ample portrait,
of this wilful dwindling genus,
genus, genie, genius, glow worm ghost,
peaceful prowlers with pen on queue,
they capture worlds sidereal,
under velvet moon imagining bespoke,
crescendo of cathartic bonhomie,
icy night frost punctured by high drive fog horns,
deft nib from dark ink manteau nomad,
who engross themselves in light and shade reflection,
how magical their canny weave lexicon,
for us timid souls to relish evermore,
as we balk at the eerie life we revel in,
vicarious the kismet, excitement from afar,
drama under bridges, shadow figure chinwag,
river stream babble, blind alley gust,
eavesdrop on historic past teaser,
litter swept aural gossip whoosh,
eventide mournful dog bark heart tug,
darting elfin’s sly mind peep thereon,
yet the vagabond minstrel has to comb,
each backstreet, zebra crossing, sprawling suburb,
for inert sleepy after hour dozers,
who crave eye candy fodder as humdrum sidestep

Within my breast a promise of earth splendor

Jovial sapphire lake sheer blackness cliffs

Kempt, sights amid whispers Spirit renders

Lithe shadows of spike pines manifest quiffs

Meek pink aurora waning like a thief

Neighboring Big Dippers pouring , springs scars

Operatic skies speckled stars relief

Picturesque Moon rises as well as Mars

Quelled waft and sounds blows through the hours of night

Reflective flow of spring beside banks ends

Sacred of God's earth splendor faintly light

Thrilling sublime sights and whispers descends

Unhurried choices amongst no worries

 Venturesome challenges though tangled miles

 Whimsical splendor rich untold journeys

 Xanthous uniform through seasonal smiles

A Lie

A new fresh linen hangs on my line
I stray from that tasks that generate jaded tears
with my bare toes I trace a fine vine
the taunting that I bear from my peers

Behold your very eyes
the king has come to tide
he looks as if he has come from Bise
the noble horse that he rides
overcomes him and snickers in laughter

Next in the line of overcoming laughter
strides in a jester full of poise
does not ponder of what comes after
streaming unbanned is levity for all the young girls and boys

The final visage that enlightens the venturesome parade
is a conductor with no orchestra in tow
an orchestra in his vast mind, the nonsensical tirade
hitching his fine tailcoats while riding a sow

My eyes waver back from the haziness that there was
it was all a dream
an
     Alice
             in
                  Wonderland?

To Reconsider Love More Thoroughly

Those past discouragements
and unheeded advices
made everything harder for me,
to reconsider love more thoroughly...

Did I ever find that true somebody,
who would have believed
so blindly in my unquestionable sentimentality,
and not in my loyal feelings living inside;
have I been so selfcentered
or put on a face of insincerity?

I eagerly searched for that perfect woman
with the urge of an irrational man;
unfortunately,I misjudged those wanting me
for their pleasure alone!
Oh,I could have been
so venturesome and silly,
and enjoyed the intimacy
so intensely desired by me!
Unexpectedly,I'm forced again
to reconsider love more thoroughly...

What It Should Be

What It Should Be

After I had awakened and then became dressed
Read your poem and how much I was impressed
Was so full of much spirit with vigor and vive
Made my mind and being become totally alive.

Might find a few misspellings' here and there
Never really did matter and less could care
You were venturesome in central theme
With power and authority reigning supreme.

Ideas formed, came together and did collect
Things once loose now easily would connect
Another thing about your poem I want to say
Is that it should soon be Poem of the Day.

Drop Out You Shall

At school played silly truancy,
Back came with hateful pregnancy!
She’d just intended The Irksome.
For being by custom troublesome’….

But it was all too venturesome,
Beauty giving a son handsome
Plus one more prize – The Sad Gift:
From school Owner did her lift;
From the rest permanent shift,
Official reason: ‘Spend thrift’…

Never again be present,
As he would her sight resent.
