Silly Fears
Its not a mid-life crisis, it just took me all these years To realize the foolishness of all my silly fears. See, my mom, she worried all her days and "caution" was her song. She saw the worst scenario in whatever could go wrong. Her fears, disguised "protection", kept me safe and always near. But in my heart and mind and soul, "protection" birthed more fear. "Being careful" rippled over into all my inhibitions, And "safety first" dictated every venturesome decision. So, here I am, half-way through this careful life I lead And now, I see there's so much more than fears I have believed. She meant so well and did her best by helping me 'beware' But the curious world whispers, “discovery is not a dare.” So forgive me if you think I've thrown caution to the wind, I'm just tired of being careful, wonderin' how things might've been.
