Our land of stars and stripes, now glows,
with screens that flicker in hallowed halls.
Entranced humans shuffle, with eyes fixed below,
on small gadgets that have us enthralled.

Should the Statue of Liberty, our symbolic girl,
be holding a smartphone up to the world?
While tweets fly like eagles and hashtags swirl,
foreign disinformation trends as fast as it’s purled.

In lunch halls, real conversations take rest,
as influence is sought—in hoity-toity, binary quest.
Friends are backdrops—originality in short supply
as likes and shares make our dopamine fly.

America’s zombies, though *********** drained,
shuffle endlessly on, with Wi-Fi stimulated brains.
Once the land of the free, we’re now the land of tech
with minds wrecked by truths unchecked.

As we rock and sway—the new robot way—
will our old, analog-republic simply fade away?

Unfocused

I felt my thoughts screaming
I knew it had to be the reason
Your demons come to haunt me
The same demons I'm always feenin'
It's not the time and place
I keep thinking
I'm too awake for this..
My heart aches a symptom
Of the lack of strength
That I face because my hormones
Are not the same
My body fights with my emotional state
I want to meditate but my head is
Just to weak for this ish
But I know I'm stronger than this..
I keep fighting the negative thoughts
With the positive ideas that maybe
We aren't ideal for not even a friendship
My head feels like
I'm super unfocused
I can't even think of my future
With out thinking of killing myself
Or probably destroying everything that has
Hurt me
Because I'm broken..
I was doing so good fixing myself until I noticed
That I was truly just hurting myself
I get pissed off that I can't control it
Then I have a mental breakdown and
It's when I notice
That I have a home and a life and people
Who truly care about my feelings
Iam here worried about the one niqa that broke me
When did it become unnoticed
Or simply I made it unnoted...
I ask for guidance from my angels
They just stare at me like
Like the girl in the memes
The one with her hand out looking real
Dumbfounded by the idea that
I'm even crying
I could be a child of the indigo but
I'm too worried about miniscule ideas
Feelings too tiny to even hurt a fly
I need to stop and breathe
I'm too creative and too precious to die.

Unfocused gaze, as bliss throbs rise
Soul, in the void wading
Poised presence beholds in surprise
Magnetism cascading

Awareness self-aware
Sidestepping ego snare
Breathes in love suffused air

Feeble thoughts laze
Unfocused gaze

Is it just me or A.D.D.
Can’t stay on top of things

When the sermon gets long
I mentally write a poem

I must fight to stay focused
Least the devil do hocus pocus

Unfocused

Tonight...

As I look
Up in the Sky
I stare deep
Into the stars
And wonder why

How did I get here?
What am I doing?
Where am I going?
In the future near

Is there a purpose
For my existence
Am I of importance
Or worth being noticed

I ponder on the thought
Bewildered with confusion
Ideas tangled in a knot
My mind keep triggering
I can't stop fidgeting

I'm in deperate need
Of a new direction
I am seeking help
Unable to make a decision
Still squinting for a vision...
