Yemen Slaughter August 9, 2018
If one is hungry
And bored
Of watching over Mecca,

What better place
To steal an apple
Than from another country’s orchards,
With fighter jets
Twanged in the sky
Like flying bottle openers,
Diving down
And peeling back a tin can roof
Of a school bus
Loaded with 40 children,
Whose shoulders are all
Strapped
With blue and red back...

Lick a bar of steel.

Did I need to say it was cold?
Did I need to say the tongue twanged with a metallic twinge?
Did I need to describe the grey? The way the moonlight lit the fibers of the grain?

Should I should have said I felt...

That Is the Name of My Bottled Water
Ok, I do not know if I should be telling you this,
It is somewhat embarrassing and you will probably laugh and hiss.

I went on holiday to the land of the free
Actually, it was America to the beaches of Miami
Dam was it hot, I clearly...

1960 and the world was changing
A time for living and rearranging
Baseball in the school yard with a sponge ball and a fist
Donnie Brooks sang Mission Bell and Chubby did The Twist
Bobbie sox and ponytails, school dances were so much fun
Johnny Preston’s Running Bear. I loved...

Old Time Appalachians
Old time Appalachians deep within the hollows.
Self-sufficient, hard working, fine mountain folks
With farming, barn raising, and crafting skills,
Logging, mining and music to pleasure the ear.

Devoted to family, kin gathering they do.
Faith in the wisdom of their elders is seen.
Church going and revivals, strengthening their beliefs,
Appalachians...

There once was a songstress named Buelah Wood

Who aimed to make it big in Hollywood.

      I once suffered through her show;

She twanged like Robin Hood's bow!

Heart's Adore
Can the more be for the less
As panting love being beset - succumbing to what is best
Why must the mind endure for the heart
As emotions become unstrung by the dark
Be it offensive to love?
Be thou infringed oh heart’s adore!

Can the less suffice above the more
As...

He Strums Guitars Over My Head
He strums guitars over my head
While my cheeks are flushed pink
Like the sheets on my bed
Stolen glances will never come back
The pulse of my body
Screams loudly, “Heart attack!”
Oh, how the pillow hits my skull
Not the other way around
Pain from his voice is dull
No stars, solely...

The Call
In comes the call

From far down the hall

A cheery voice with a Texas
draw twanged out a saying
starting with "Y'all".

Oh it was the end of it all!

I packed up my bags

Left those northern jags

And moved to Texas....

A Cherub Without Wings
A little cherub, perched on high,
twanged on her harp all day.
She felt a little lonely,
though "bored" I would not say.

How happily those children play!
she thought as she looked down,
and on the lovely visage
appeared the slightest frown.

Gabriel marked her sorrow
and asked her what was...

she conjured up a cunning rasp
a gewgaw lyre-like harp in clasp
to crooked teeth held in their grasp
then twanged at midnight with a blast

this higgled haggled haggly crone
did dance on graves while all alone
her gewgaw raising mottled bone
‘til joined by dead with rotting moan

bats within...

Quickened senses
catch the smell
and sticky bleed
of bark
stripped
from a branch,

the cane
fire blackened
to a spring
of polished rod
then bent
into a bow,

the taut string
twanged
to feel
its stored strength
pulled back
to fling an arrow

high
and tipped
with lust
for a bird,
warm with blood
to spill
but with wings
wary of boys
and too quick....
