AMERICAN DREAMS SMASHED TO SMITHEREENS

Miss American pie has a dream -
whipped cream of tijuana brass.

Groovy tunes quit on smoking grass.
Frisbee LP like steaming saucers crash.

The homecoming court is plastered.
What could possibly be the matter?

Moon rockets in flight, rock me all night baby.
There were stars in my eyes, as lala land denied.

In my crib the beatles rock me to sleep,
while Tate’s fetus stares at the Helter Skelter light.

Premium Member Would You Believe

I appreciate you asking me for a date
Would you believe you asked too late?

No? Well I have another excuse
A list of them that's quite profuse

I tripped and fell, breaking my nose
Now there's blood all over my clothes

I've absolutely nothing decent to wear
I haven't had time to wash my hair

I ate chocolate covered crickets
and that gave me goldarn rickets

I turned a shade of putrid green
so the doctor said I'm quarantined

Really, it's not that I don't wanna
but somehow I woke up in Tijuana

Perhaps at another time, maybe?
Right now I'm about to have a baby!

The Jumpers

The Jumpers Story/ poem

The Jumpers came - we don't know if they will stay.
What are the jumpers, you might say? We all know
that people that jump from high places are called
jumpers. Also anybody that jumps would be called
jumpers too.

To all of you that don't know ( Jumpers ) are a type
of Tennis shoes.. they were designed by a young
woman from Argentina and were exibit in an Art
Festival. They were designed, especially for immigrants,
that cross, or jump over into the United States.

These shoes were designed with a map, a night light, a
compass and the Mexican Emblem. They also have a secret
pocket for pills in case they got sick, like a bad head ache.
They also have another pocket to save change, for a phone
call.

In the back of the shoes they have the picture of a priest.
He is considered a Saint. His name is Toribio Romo. These
shoes were made in China. They cost $ 17.00 a pair. Here in
the U.S. they would go for $ 250.00, but only 1,000 were made.

The designer of these Tennis shoes gave them to the people
that were about to cross over to the United States, so they
wouldn't get lost. All this happened in Tijuana Mexico.

There is a Legend, so people say. Back in the early 1970's, people
started reporting that, whenever they got sick, lost, or pass out
from hunger - a prist would appear out of no where and help them
out. The people said that the priest fed, or nursed them if they
were sick.

After they ate, or got better, he would direct them to where they
were going. He would even tell them how to get a job, when they got
to their destination, than he would just dissapeared. All this up to now
has been happening on and off.

It has been known that people would pay up to $ 500.00 for these shoes.
They were designed with a good intention, to save lives. Maybe they
would save the life of a person once, but too many times - I don't
think so....

Note: This is a true story. I got to see these shoes.
They showed all the details. These shoes are called
( Brincos ) and that in English means ( Jumpers )

Premium Member This Song I'M Listening To

I hear once more the lyrics of this song I'm listening to-
a gentle blast from my very youthful past,
and I am back in middle school,
an attractive skinny girl
despite the horn rimmed glasses
which have gotten me the nickname of “Four eyes”
and the large beehive hairdo
I have to rat with my comb painstakingly each morning.

I am in the music room of my eighth grade
practicing with Swing Choir,
the group that I’ve auditioned for
and am thrilled to be a part of.
A cute boy stands tall among all the others
in the back row of the male section.
We are all singing -

“This Guy’s in Love.
This guy’s in love with You.”

My heart is pounding with the melody
as I watch my current crush so longingly,
imagining he sings the words to me alone.
Could my life yet to be lived
ever compare to my happiest vivid daydreams?

“When you smile, I can tell we know each other very well.”

I think he sees me watching him. I look away.
This scene will be replayed again and again
in other classrooms
where I’ll be watching other boys
that I'll be crushing on
and hoping they are watching me as well.

But now, just for now -
I sing the words with my group -

“Don’t let my heart keep breaking. . .”

My soul fills with teenage angst.
Oh to be young again
with such sweet aching
not yet knowing I’ll soon be getting walked home from school
by that cute tall boy
 named Chico.

Written Feb. 7, 2016 for the Solitary Moments Poetry Contest of Mystic Rose
The song is "This Guy's in Love" written by Burt Bacharach
and performed byHerb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass. (please hear it in the link above)

Mastermind

Mastermind

String bean of a youth because of an eating disorder
Found a cure for that ailment called Mary Jane
Grown a little bit south of the Tijuana border
Fleet of both feet and wit, Oop’s I forgot about the tongue
And a magnet for lots of chicks both old and young
Speaking quite softly yet carrying a very big stick at all times
A quick grasp of the English language both written
And spoken with the sweetness of rhymes
Became an object of more senseless violence not just
To the mother of step but also bullies, racist and wanna be thugs,
Rejected the life of a loser being involved in crime and drugs
More interested in science, the stars and history that was past,
They hated me even more each day for the A's I scored in every class
Evolution’s calling that puberty heralds were the same for him as all others
Cupid's onslaught of bows and arrows went over my head
Years of mistreatment were turned around from foe to friend
Finally he could distinguish the difference between love and lust
And eventually learned of those who knew of honor that were worthy of trust
Elevation of status from nerd and geek to the conquering lord of hood boys and girls
Showed the masses of lost children treasure, not of diamonds, rubies and pearls
Taught them pente, mahjong, backgammon, and chess
Opened in their eyes many new worlds limited by the world not thought
In the hopes that one more spirit such as he had been rises from the mire
And is destined for a place of ascension in the azure skies

Rocky Mountain Oysters Over Meatballs

So you are choosing Rocky Mountain Oysters over Meatballs
You love to eat them from a zip loc bag at the mall
You grew up in the deep south eating these odd things
For instance, you choose chicken feet with toe nails instead of chicken wings
You said you would eat the Rock Oysters with spaghetti or rice, it really doesn't
matter
Sometimes you eat them fried in a Tempura Batter
Do you ever feel remorse knowing some baby pigs are missing their Pa
All because you prefer Rocky Mountain Oysters over Meatballs
I can't condone your preference for what you would call a tasty treat
Something is wrong passing up boiled eggs for pickled pig's feet
The stuff you eat would have me being a frequent flyer to a bathroom stall
I can't get past you showing favorites to Rocky Mountain Oysters Over Meatballs
Did anyone tell you what they really are
It's not something you eat with a date gazing at the stars
My mind has always been open to try different things
But I need to draw the line eating a male animal's bling bling
I've eaten camel, horse, octopus even legs of frogs
Down in Tijuana, I ate tacos made from dog
You say what's wrong with this, I share these with my in laws
Another advantage is Rocky Mountain Oysters cost less than your run of the mill
Meatballs
Have you tried them with a little bit of Texas Pete
Rumor has it they started with sheep on the island of Crete
I do however like a good seasoned batch of Collard Greens
Can't quite completely criticize the South, I am caught in between
But I do get a kick out of the deep Southern Drawl
But I am still a Yankee when declining Rocky Mountain Oysters over Meatballs

One of our brave marines languishes in a Tijuana jail,

Sufferin' inhumane treatment, sans the right of bail!

Ain't it ironic that America treats illegals like welcome guests,

While our "neighbors" to the south treat our folks like inferior pests!

If I was runnin' things here is what I would damn well do:

I'd send in Seal Team Six to teach those thugs a thing or two!

Tijuana Mexico

Casualties of an enforced lifestyle shiver in the breeze
Along the rugged roads of old dust and ditches that divide
Rest a group of modest enclosures they call home
Built out of left over wood and delivery slates in 90 degrees

They seem content with their simplistic lifestyles and unsightly miles
Water is delivered in worn out trucks and stored in their homes in discarded tanks
There is no sewer system, very few working water systems are scattered
Yet, if you were to pass through for a visit, the women would be cooking with smiles

During the day, men are bused to work in factories and earn fifty dollars a week
Few people have the resources to receive a doctor’s visit and medications
“Anencephaly” a brain birth defect that their infants have, now significantly rise
When it rains there the roads become virtually impassable and unusably bleak

They are a hard working people with values and a drive to nurture their youth
Bathing their children in the same lavadora they wash their dishes in
Tijuana is among one of the poorest places in the world
With these living conditions, it’s hard to turn your back from the truth

Peace

Peace

“Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.”
~ Attributed to Francis of Assisi

How many years
Of Sunday sermons taught me
How easily
I can get away with it all
How terribly unfortunate
Some Jew took the hit
How comfortable
My soul and how
Small
O God
Why not indulge me
Can’t I be so bloated
I’ll support the dropping of bombs
On third-world rejects
So I can afford to drive a vehicle
Big enough I can drag into it my
Weighty carcass
Can’t I be so busy so drunk so drugged
I’ll never have to know
About anything regrettable
Can’t I amass a fortune
Skim off a soup of hedge funds
Leave a world of debt
What money’s left in foreign accounts
Tax free
But hey there’s still sales tax
Isn’t there
Racial superiority
Can’t I speak in ebonics to prove
Ebony rules
Can’t I don white sheets to prove
White’s better
Can’t I evade the border patrol to prove
Medical help’s free
Who’ll they follow back
To Tijuana
To remorse
To the cross
To alt.sex.bondage
Not me
How many years
Of indifference taught me
The usefulness of
Looking aside
Giving up
Coolness
No worries
Peace
    ~Thanks Always Returns

Excuses

I appreciate you asking me for a date
but, errr... the invitation arrived too late.

You see; I stumbled and took a tumble
that broke my nose and bloodied my toes.
My face is swollen and my clothes were stolen
I've nothing to wear, and need to wash my hair.

I swear it's true. I'm not making excuses to you!

I ate chocolate crickets that gave me rickets
and it made me turn green so I'm quarantined.

Well then, please don't grieve, but would you believe?
It's not that I don't wanna, but I'm stuck in Tijuana
Another time, maybe? I'm about to have a baby!

Prima Nocta

12/17/20
"Prima Nocta"

No matter how hard I think
Still can't find the missing link

All night long I drink
I'm on the brink

No, I don't need a shrink
Or to consume more zinc
Trying to stay awake but continuing to blink

It will or won't sync
In person, by image or written in ink
Seeing good and things that really stink

It always took strength
To go to great lengths
It never did any good to draw a blank
Occasionally may have had to break the bank

Oh my goodness
No other way to put it
Couldn't stop doin' what I shouldn't

It's apparent
They say the devil wears it
I never once wore Prada
Problems I gotta
Lot of
Mr. Phantom of the Opera

Been really doing nada
Causing pointless drama
Even arguing with my mama

Sippin' whatever even beer, wine or vodka
Not a lot of agua
Causing my body trauma
All day and night long smoking marijuana

A Tragic Saga
Not saving up any commas
Hard to read my persona

Hakuna Matata
This is beyond Dogma
The Dalai Lama
Or praising "Allah"

From the Bahamas
To beyond Osaka
And Botswana
As well as Tijuana

I'm on a
Roll, I've been Godzilla, they've been Mothra

I've been an anaconda
They've been an iguana

Thinking it was funny like haha
How quickly, I'll pull up on ya
Catch them slippin' inside or out of their Honda

They've been Clapa
And Steapa
Warring since the Prima Nocta

To my friends I wanna
Holla
Keep stacking up them blues and every dolla
May you reach a state of nirvana

Among unique flora and fauna
The world freezing cold or hotta than a sauna

If I wanna
I'll continue spitting lava

Chose to consume Belladonna
Or to end it all with a Katana
For good Ta-ta

The Vision

no more buffalo or pigs who speak in
latin
for they have all drowned in the sea of
galilee
or perhaps been flushed down the
Tijuana pipeline.

floating, crossing over to some strange
land.

all that is left now is for their silhoette's to
be
advertised on the sides of cheap diet
soda cans.

they float by together past brightly
enameled
porcelain that seems to mean something
to someone.

the virgin of guadalupe shakes and
foams at the
mouth looking up to receive her vision,
but all she receives is wax and concrete.

no more time for bison or swine who melt
in between
the thin shadows of unreveranced barbed
wire.

miles and miles of rusty wires twisted.

incarcerated in their youth they decide to
cover
 their skins with tattoo's.

some have tragic kings and queens
 twisted around their hooves.

others have vibrant orange koi swimming
along their spines.

soon however, however soon...

the rains will fall and wash them all away.

maybe a transient on the street
 will play the horn lowly.

maybe a priest will make a gesture.

Premium Member San Diego

It is the third largest city in California.
It lies just north of the border from Tijuana.
This is a nice big town where many a tourist stays.
The municipality is home to the Chargers and Padres.
The weather is warm and sunny, and hardly every raining.
It is where the U.S. Marines take their boot camp training.
This place has been around since the Conquistador.
It has much to see and experience, and more.
The California city is a place I am sure you know.
It is none other than the City of San Diego.
