Best Sorrows Poems
The sorrows we borrow,
the sorrows we keep—
are debts of the dead,
replayed in our sleep.
Blood writes the tally,
blood writes it in red;
tomorrow collects
what yesterday bled.
The sun drags its shadow.
The sun drags its shroud—
darkness advancing
cowering aloud.
Dry eyes at dawn.
Ashes inbred;
a prayer in the dust,
a prayer for the dead.
The sun flares faintly,
a wound in the sky.
The clouds part briefly,
yet cold will not die.
What was served yesterday
lies rotting today;
a banquet of abstinence,
a plate of decay.
Tears must be borrowed.
Tears must be sown;
the covenant is endless,
the debt as ever has grown.
I am summoned.
I am again sworn—
to gather the blood,
to nourish the thorn,
to water dead flowers,
for sorrow's reborn.
Oft Woe Is Sorrows, Of Mere Mortal Men
Of fine artist brush and true poet's pen
oft woe is sorrows, of mere mortal men.
Tho' great the powers, sun's glow in blue skies
majestic the beauty, in dawns bright rise.
What purpose poetry, if not to give?
What purpose existence, if not to live?
What verse can such magnificence reveal
more so than inked truth that searching poets feel.
From revelations of heart's deep desires
to blazing flames of romantic fires.
What purpose poetry, if not to give?
What purpose existence, if not to live?
Dare we beg our muse, cast unto us more
of immense depths from which others did score.
Gift hearts, souls and minds creativity
or beauty even in versed brevity?
What purpose poetry, if not to give?
What purpose existence, if not to live?
What of importance of the sad and black
do we ignore from courage we may lack.
Nay! Ours is to set truth on its gold throne
tho, on that journey we may trek alone.
What purpose poetry, if not to give?
What purpose existence, if not to live?
When begging paper, cries for new black ink
of course from both heart and mind we must think.
And with purpose write to all, as a gift
Life, Love, Inspiration that so uplifts.
What purpose poetry, if not to give?
What purpose existence, if not to live?
Under Nature's blue skies that beg our praise
dare we give verse light, to cut world's dark haze.
Endeavor to create what time will note
with blessings, take great pride in what we wrote?
What purpose poetry, if not to give?
What purpose existence, if not to live?

Rhyme, ( A Poet's Heart Must Accept Its Truest Calling )
When sorrow overwhelms you,
And, pain is like the oldest friend,
Remember, when you’re down,
This isn’t where the battle will end.
When worries leave you fearful,
And, the clouds just won’t break,
Don’t forget – there in that sky,
Abides a peace that you can’t mistake.
When mourning seems everlasting,
And, grief prompts you to tears,
Remember, when you’re living in shadows,
There is hope beyond the worst fears.
When regrets follow you so closely,
And, the guilt keeps you feeling remorse,
Don’t forget – there in spring’s sigh,
Shines love that our dreams will endorse.
When anger leaves you feeling so dreadful,
And, the suspicion provokes your wrath,
Remember to forget all the uncertainties,
Sincerity and peace are the stones on your path.
When discouragement overwhelms your spirit,
And, darkest despair quiets your inner peace,
Don’t forget your true feelings will remind you,
Deep within you God is creating a masterpiece.
When melancholy seems to haunt your spirit,
And, the dusk overshadows your dreams,
Remember to cast your eyes to the perfect skies,
Where joy and hope seem to go to extremes.
When an aching comes over you, just trembling,
And, the unsteady words just won’t speak,
Don’t forget, love is always with you, defending,
Even when you feel drained, you’re not weak.
When your thoughts are filled with troubles,
And, your mind is your worst adversary,
Remember, all but One of us is flawed,
Only Jesus, our Savior, is truly legendary.
When you think of all you have lost,
And the anguish seems printed on your heart,
Don’t forget, with the love of Jesus, there is hope,
Despite the hurt, you’ll find the peace He can impart.
When everywhere you go, everything you know,
Reminds you that this life is just so hard,
Remember that He is there, alive and well,
Offering you His saving grace – He’s the souls lifeguard!
Heart String Sorrows
Sadness pulls my heart strings
with a bow of rosin’d guilt,
tear drops stain the notes upon the page
Sorrowed cello whispers
of a soundless worry wilt,
harmonies distort beyond the stage
Out of tune concertos
midst excessive cymbals blare,
steady as the beat of gathered pain
Broken mirror rhythms
sit within the favored chair,
misery in musical refrain
Violin’d distractions
cried in melodies so thin,
echo in performed apologies
A cappella opus,
as a prelude to the hymn,
played by melancholy symphonies
Good night Soupers
As I add another notch,
Into my belt of failures.
I did not gain the joy of my heart.
And if I had gained,
Your honest…true love.
I wouldn’t contemplate
Using that very belt
As a makeshift tourniquet,
Around my pleasant dreams.
Choking the flow of my tomorrows,
To ease the bleak pain,
…of not being with you.
along came a flood of ebullient emotions,
when an unexpected letter arrived in the mail,
as if from far away in the priceless precious past,
a resonant rhapsody ~ crooned my mellifluous Koel.
The poignant message made my heart throb and tremble,
not many ornamental words adorned the paper,
I could feel the care concealed and hidden pain,
the perpetual soul-searching - layer after layer.
life was a murmuring meandering tide ...
time transpired for both of us,
with jade jubilation and lilac laughter,
experienced bitter days of sadness and sorrows,
as well as bleak, gloomy, loneliness hollow.
A letter brought a flood of ebullient emotions,
a topaz torrent of waterfall gushed
downward embracing mountaintops,
ringing a bell of coral hopes and lavender longings,
telling truth ~ nothing treasured had been lost!
My Darling, you stayed and weathered
with me all the tempestuous nights,
My Love, you clasped my hands
in yours when winds were wild!

Notes: Alliteration is the repetition of the same sound at the start of a series of words in succession whose purpose is to provide an audible pulse that gives a piece of writing a lulling, lyrical, and/or emotive effect.
You melted my dreams,
Casted it on your expectations,
Slammed it on me,
To mesh with it with determination.
Draining myself for you,
Still heard what you have done?
Before I close my eyes every night,
I wonder,do you ever love?
You mock at my feelings,
That peep through my eyes,
It's of heartache you gave,
But I am tounge tied.
You care of me sometimes,
And it's alleviating,
I forget all my sorrows,
And think you're loving.
But when the daydream shatters,
And I come in light,
All I see,
Love is but a blight.
I cannot utter "I hate you",
I feel neither,
Though you made me hate myself,
Or the world either.
Everyone says,
I should be loving you,
But I donot feel suchlike,
I feel like I am at the darkest roads,
Forlorn,
Deaf and muted,
I cannot even scream or cry.

Tomorrow is another day, a fresh start.
You manipulated your way and stole my heart!
I try to focus on self, but I'm seriously failing.
You took my emotional wealth, and now my mind is sailing.
Drifting along, needing an answer as to "why?"
You would rewrite my song, look me in the eye and lie!
Tomorrow is another day, a new beginning.
I kneel and pray for all this sinning.
You dragged me down to the lowest point in my life.
Take off that crown you're no longer my wife.
I will carry on and refuse to look back.
I'd rather be alone, I'm serious as a heart attack!
Hearts don't break they just tend to bend.
I took all I could take now I'm gone with the wind!!!!

World of pleasure,world of pain;
Every things lost,nothings gained.
Hidden whispers,hidden lies;
Silent torment ,silent cries.
Heartless faces, heartless stares;
No one listens ,no one cares.
Scarred forever,broken-hearted;
Dearly beloved, dearly departed.
Broken promises,broken dreams;
Left alone, left unclean.
Live and let live,live and learn;
Once been bitten,twice you burn.
Tougher days,tougher tomorrows;
Counting costs, counting sorrows...

She's in the cut, with a different kind of fabric
She earns minimum wage, but her Instagram is lavish
Trust me I don't know how she keeps the balance
Probably got a married man who injects cash in her balance
That's why it's not a challenge
Until he gets tired of her and he beats with her belt
Now she's drowning in her tears, and hoping for a Michael Phelps
He raped her, he thought he owned her just because he provided the paper
She couldn't go to the police station
They are going to tell her she deserved it
Her friends are just as bad, they're serpents
Now she feels dirty, she's seeking for detergent
She wanted to do tests, the public hospital doctor told her it wasn't urgent
When she finally did, she found out she got AIDS
Too embarrased to use ARVs, so she started counting her days
Months went by, she wasn't rocking Christian Dior anymore
Gave herself to the Lord, she was a Christian who decided to read more
Took those ARVs, and started building a life
Started stitching up the wounds and pulling out the knives
That doesn't make it better though, she's still another statistic
If you heard how many women were raped on a daily you'd go ballistic
They tell them that their skirts are too short
Then they look at her in disgust when she has to abort
Happens again and again, because the perpetrator know he ain't going to court
I can hear myself snoring
then I suddenly wake!
It sounded maybe
something like an earthquake.
Then I lay on my side
slip back into sleep
I hardly dream
it's so very deep.
Maybe I half wake
then comes a flash of dreams
all about death
but nothing is as it seems.
Someone long gone from my life
is in the back yard digging my grave,
but my father won't have it
my broken neck he wants to save!
I hear my puppy dog whining
she wants to go out;
that's about how I feel
and I also want to shout!
I want to reach Heaven
with my voice
even though I know
my deceased had no choice.
The Lord decided
when He'd take them home
just like He knew
I'd write this poem.

Jesus, The Man-God of Sorrows
This King that was born in a stable
entering His created world in the humblest of means,
had His angels proclaim His birth to mere shepherds
and not to princes, queens or kings.
He came not to rule the first time
or cause men to be put under His thumb,
and He wore no crown or regal robes
yet He opened the mouths and loosed the tongues of the dumb.
Most certainly this was the King, yes the King of all kings;
that came humbly to this earth,
to free as many as would come to Him
and would be willing to obey His Word.
But, His created men whom He bore pleasure as He formed
them by His own Right Hand,
had become a pawn in the hand of the devil
who wanted to pervert and stop His most blessed plan.
Many a time they tried to kill Him by throwing stones
or pushing Him off the top of a hill,
but Father God would protect Him because that kind
of death was not in His most perfect Will.
So they jeered and scorned and laughed as he was
preaching and teaching His Word for you and me,
this blessed Man of Sorrows Who left
the Glory of Heaven to die for us on a tree.
How the angels must have cried as they watched from behind the scenes
and as His Father turned from Him His head,
our precious Saviour felt all alone
yet He triumphed in His agonizing death.
So soon and very soon we will see His face
shining as the sun so fitting it will be,
for this time He will not be shamed, mocked or scorned
for He will come to rule and reign throughout all eternity.

I just hate to say
How much I feel like a bad cliché.
That faithful girl that would love me forever
Went and left me for another.
Sometimes I’m so mad,
Then I’m feeling everything but glad.
Though she double-crossed me sweetly like a traitor,
Just can’t bring myself to hate her.
Have too much time to think
And not enough to drink.
Some sorrows just don’t drown.
Some sorrows just don’t drown.
Some sorrows just don’t drown.
They just won’t drown
Thinking one love’s true
Might get the best of you.
So now I smell like beer and last week’s sweat,
Caught in a whirlpool of regret.
Have too much time to think
And not enough to drink.
Some sorrows just don’t drown.
Some sorrows just don’t drown.
Some sorrows just don’t drown.
They just won’t drown
I’m glad it’s Friday.
I’ll probably drink-off Saturday.
If I’m not blind or dead, I’ll see the Pastor
To get me through this disaster.
Have too much time to think
And not enough to drink.
Some sorrows just don’t drown.
Some sorrows just don’t drown.
Some sorrows just don’t drown.
They just won’t drown.
They just won’t drown.
Maybe darling, you have fallen down
or got lost, sweetheart on the way home
to find our path, would you rather die alone without
rather than be stuck on this earth to someone like me
An overwhelming deep sadness inside mixed with pain
Banished as stupid while questioning
in my sanity I felt the ache
I saw the demon sit at my table blocking me
Falling heavy laden I lay back crying alone
totally heartbroken saved myself enough money
Achieving one great goal heading east
You who brought the sunshine warm feelings
flooding back, in pure clear emotions, dreaming of you
Love you were all my focus, in every gentle care
Softly in tenderness finding things very hard cut
Please understand, tears keep falling love
everything I care about forever remains
Truly beautiful, did you take the wrong road to me
whatever cost I was left to carry the burden
Price tag of my past sins thrown on the fire to burn me
I forgive you as one wanted to
spend the rest of his life with only
You sweet baby complete, if it means, me going through
Hell's fire to find our path, holding hands with peace within
one a spirit chants freedom, thanks to you darling love
An angel of mercy appears soft
cloaked in the warm feathers, within light
saving me in your arms, sweetheart wrapped
up together, talked love, you kissed me
Soft for me, under the rainbow bridge
A promise when we held each other, you would marry me
syllables 9/9 cloud nine 13/13/13 lucky or unlucky whatever way ending 9/9/9/9/9 always this dream silver lines ending on 14 clasps the chain my birthdate
The sorrows that assail my heart
Heralding the free flow of forlorn tears
Tears unaccompanied by the usual cries
Tears of a heavy heart
That's what they are,
Tears borne out of heart over - weighed by sorrows
That's what they are,
Tears of uncontrollable emotions.
The sorrows of my heart sired by my loss of you
Strenghtened by constant thoughts of you
Thoughts that upholds the uniqueness of the times we shared
Accentuating the joys together we knew
The happiness together as one we found
Our glorious moments
Moments I always relive in my dreams.
My loss of you
From my mind
Diffuses to my heart
It condensed into particles of sorrow
Particle that soon sediment
Forming an invincible heavy bulk
Making heavy my heart.
From my mind
The mist of my loss rises to my eyes
Like the ocean waters
It evaporates
Condensing and liquidating in my eyes
Bathing my eyelids
Trickling down my cheeks
Rushing down my cheeks in torrential cascades.
My heart has fell into my stomach
Killing all butterflies fluttering in my stomach
That day you bade me goodbye
That day that in my arms
You painfully though smilingly muttered to me goodbye
That painful loss of you
That bored a nonrefillable hole in my heart
Was what heralded the sorrows of my heart.
