Premium Member Winter's Afterglow
stars twinkled brilliantly
against majestic snow-capped mountains,
delicate pure white flakes danced;
swirling, twirling, rhythmically.

she stood, nose pressed tightly
against the window pane; gazing in awe
at the magic the snowflakes created;
as tears spill from her emerald green eyes.

the cabin is warm, radiating a comforting glow
a fresh pine scent lightly...

Sunlight reave through cerulean sky and drifting clouds,
melting the snow-capped mountains,
through forest heartbeat and trembling leaves,
upon dappled nature's breast.

The placid echo sounds of the brisk captivating waterfall
cascading downward into a plunge pool,
a quenching path to the old roots
and cold...

In the nighttime hours
As the world deftly creeps by
I summon my powers
Spread my wings and fly
Past cotton clouds,
Snow-capped mountains, white
I am lost and I am found
I am beauty and blight

Past the midnight chimes
A soul searching for home
Tangling myself in rhymes
So as to not feel alone
Catch...

Premium Member Stargazer
Under 65 degree starry, onyx blanket
Containment of quarter moon identity

A whimsically soothing song exuded
In muffled taps & Prohibition era lyric

In the distance,
Snow-capped mountains reflecting lunar clarity
Off its tips of freedom

As we lay on recycled steel hood,
Made in 1950s USA, when it mattered,
Her silhouetted fingertips released...

Premium Member I've Never Been To Africa
I've lived where orange blossoms fall
and flutter on the streets of Spain.
In Germany I've seen the wall,
and snow-capped mountains from the train.
I've known Bahamas' sunlight gleam
where palm trees shift in sultry air,
but Africa, exotic dream—
imagination takes me there.

I see the restless plains that stretch
to...

Premium Member Lazy Sundays
Memories of garden walks
  Primrose paths, intimate talks
A coin tossed wishfully in a fountain
  Gazing up at snow-capped mountains...

Lazy Sundays in our reading chairs
Sunset, sipping tea in our town square
The glow of ruddy cheeks twilight demarcates
  A last toast to...

Premium Member Sunset of Wonder
The scarlet sea is almost calm tonight.
The sinking sun splashes its fiery rays
over the billowing flame-tinged waves
as red-stained sails stretch full to catch
the lively saltatory breeze and meander
their surest way back to their safest sanctuary.
Aloft the snow-capped mountains
send a few rumbles of an impending storm.
Fleecy...

Here they are before me,
surreal in the dazzling morning sun.
Against clear skies of blue, and
peaked snow-capped mountains-
these tall glaciers of Alaskan ice,
      stand heavenly before my eyes.

Their...

Premium Member A Distant Sadness
Walking upon the ground singing
frozen solid crisply cracking ice reality
each step inside a crunching golden morning
Alone looking towards the rising sun
cold wind cutting chill to the bone
clouds shade pink to grey
Winds blowing cold breathing whispers
whistling in chilling howls echoes deeply
Staring faraway over...

Premium Member God's Gifts
Rainbow days and starry nights,
Snow-capped mountains and eagles' flight.
Crashing waves from storm-tossed seas,
Refreshing rain and a gentle breeze.

Delicate flowers and trees so tall,
Red, orange and yellow leaves of fall.
Rolling thunder and lightning bright,
Sunny skies that bring delight.

Cotton puff clouds on display,
A clear blue lake where...

Premium Member Wild Lightning, Spooks and Me
I'm as free as the wind as I sway in the saddle!
I love life! There's no clutter, nothing to addle!
I give my faithful horse Wild Lightning free rein,
As we meander across God's magnificent terrain!

My pal Spooks trots ahead surveying sagebrush and crags.
I sense that...

Where Is Heaven
WHERE IS HEAVEN?

The student: Where is heaven?
The teacher: It is in your feet as they walk the path of life.

"I carry your heart with me (I carry it in my heart) I am never without it..." E.E. Cummings

Hello my dearest darling, it was our time to wake,
The rustic rooster had already roused my reverie,
Heralding the dewy dawn
Of our new great day.
For I...

Oh, give me a home where majestic buffalo roam,
Where antelope graze and rushing streams foam!
A place where snow-capped mountains reach for the sky,
And gentle winds waft through blue spruce with soothing sigh!
Oh, give me a home where golden eagles soar on high;
Where skeins of geese...

The Mighty Horse
God has not forgotten you, Mighty Horse.
At one time you ran through canyons,
and green meadows
never before seen by men.
You were as free as the icy waters
which come from snow-capped mountains.
Free to go anywhere you wanted.
You tossed your head in defiance.
Your mane shimmered with magnificence.
Like a...
