Notes About The Poem

Listen to poem:

Between the Extremes - POTD

In the nighttime hours
As the world deftly creeps by
I summon my powers
Spread my wings and fly
Past cotton clouds,
Snow-capped mountains, white
I am lost and I am found
I am beauty and blight

Past the midnight chimes
A soul searching for home
Tangling myself in rhymes
So as to not feel alone
Catch the updraft of hope
Friendship sun on my face
My place in this world in scope
Loathing, with love replace

Many congratulations dear Sam on this wonderful POTD - and you’ve quoted one of my favourite writers too! So happy to see your name here. This is brilliantly written with a form I haven’t yet attempted. A striking poem with a striking picture to accompany it. You have really captured a searching soul in flight ‘ I am lost and I am found’ - profound! I also love the line,’ Tangling myself in rhymes’. Wonderful narration as always to enhance this wonderful write. Many congratulations.

Spreading my wings to fly, past cotton clouds as the world deftly creeps by. I can relate. :) There's something magical about drifting through the soft blue. Your thoughts take me beyond 'snow-capped mountains. ' Many moments and emotions tangle within. Congratulations Sam, on Poem of the Day. My best to you. ~ Brandy

Congratulations on your POTD, Sam! Well-written on a topic we all deal with in many different ways. It reminds me of Taoism, "the middle way" teachings. Extremes in life may be exciting, even thrilling at times, but may also be destructive, even disabling. At times the extreme ends in an untimely death. Choosing a pathway of "enough" can bring balance into one's life. Enjoy your special day of recognition, my friend. Bill

Dear Bill - your are a fount of knowledge and wisdom! I agree, the 'middle way' should be the median experience - although I am not against flying too close to the sun occasionally. Factor SP50, ofourse. (and what a lovely picture of you two!! x)

Beautiful and meaningful write this is. So well articulated and delivered. I especially loved the lines “ I am lost and I am found I am beauty and blight” excellent! Always love a poem with mythological touch in it. And i love your explanation below too. “ A soul searching for home Tangling myself in rhymes So as to not feel alone” i think many can resonate with that. So sincere and soulful! Congratulations also on POTD! Well deserved! Pleasure reading you

Dear Sam, Your words created an image of a soul navigating the quiet mysteries of the night, grappling with both the beauty and the challenges it presents. The words you crafted, from the cotton clouds to the snow-capped mountains, captured the essence of a journey through the heart and mind's external and internal landscapes. Your exploration of themes like loneliness, hope, and the quest for belonging was striking. Your poem touched me in ways I cannot fully articulate, and I am grateful to have experienced it. - Blessings, Daniel

Well that is a well-crafted comment for sure! I would like to take the full credit but cannot.. your interpretation is precise and if the words moved you (or continue to) the emotion behind the words has broken through - and I am glad. Thanks Daniel :))
