Dare We

 ~Dare We~
Side by side in the full moonlight, looking up in wonder
Shoulders rubbing, breaths, mingling hands begin to wander
Daringly we looked together, would we really dare…
No one about we can try, there seem no eyes to stare.

Hand in hand we start to hide away from the moonlit sky
We really want to do this, but we are feeling rather shy
Should we in this moonlight, try to recapture our youth?
He takes his shoes and socks off, I am excited now in truth…

His pants come down, I kook aghast, “they cost a lot” I heard him say.
My shoes and jacket I remove, deciding it's time to play
He takes me by the hand; our bodies mingle and turn together
We feel so young this moonlit night with outstanding weather.

His legs shine white, silhouetted against the moonlit sky
Now is the time, there's no one here, I am not letting this pass me by
Up and down, slowly, carefully, his body looks so lean
I can’t believe we are sneaking a go on
                                                   our neighbour’s new trampoline...

An Old "happy" Couple

Cherish me as I grow old, and am surely liable to forget things.
I know how interesting life is and the contentment it brings.
I know you'll make excuses to try and be miserable and even try not to go.
Now just have a good trip, even though I know your stress will just grow.

White, sandy beaches and salt tasted air, with an ocean so cold.
Aggravation sets in as we try to put our lawn chairs down to unfold.
Breathe, my love, its as simple as remembering the latch on the side.
Surely, all you had to do is ask, I'm tired of your old, stubborn pride.

Finally, we get our chairs situated and I'm ready to bask in the sun.
You ask for sun block and as I search, you assume I brought none.
Its just at the bottom of the beach bag, you stubborn old ass!
And don't think I don't see you sneaking a sip out of that flask!

I turn bronze as I used SPF 40, you chose SPF 15, and look at you.
Red as a lobster, mean as crab, and I'm enjoying the view.
I tried to tell you, but so stubborn, do you ever plan to listen?
Probably not now, nor never, so your skin will always be red and glisten.

How are you supposed to relax now that you can't move not even a limb?
Our stress free vacation, is as always, starting to look grim.
Oh well, aloe you up, and off to dinner we shall go and have some fun.
Take some Soma, Lortab, and Xanax and you'll be good and numb.

An hour later and you're stress free, and mostly out of that pain.
Good thing, because its in the forecast for Florida rain!
We'll hobble around the block and get soaking wet from head to toe.
Knowing tomorrow you'll be back in pain and stressed so we'll have to go.

But its like this every year, we plan to stay, but I know how you are.
One or two days of driving makes you stiff from sitting in the car.
It'll take the rest of our vacation for you to blister and finally peel.
You're the entertainment in my life, and that's why I'm with you still!

The End of the Poem

I started this poem with the ending
That way I figure just in case
I get half way through and don't have a clue
Of what next I wanted to say

Plus it'll save me all that time
Of trying to come up with the perfect end for the ending
Since this idea came around and I've written it down
At the start of the very beginning

Though it does take away all the mystery
Of what this poem is about
Like sneaking a look at the last page of a book
No more need to try and figure it out

I could throw a surprise twist in the middle
Just to try and liven things up
But you already know what's coming so
I'm not sure a twist would be enough

I now find myself deep in dilemma
Since I started the beginning with the end
I clear my throat with a cough as I finish it off
With where it was I should have began

Premium Member The Alcohol Train

I lost another friend, who was riding the alcohol train.
Little did I know, that he was in so much mental pain.
He kept it hidden well, I didn't even notice it at all.
His family kept him close, as they began to see him fall.

He was always sneaking a drink, wasting away all his time.
As long as he had some alcohol, everything would seem just fine.
Until he'd get to drunk, then his temper would begin to rage.
He was like a crazy animal, that was just released from its cage.

He spent a couple years, of his hidden life behind bars.
From doing stupid things, in a drunken haze he stole a car.
Maybe you would think, that might have sobered him up.
But once you ride that train, it's really hard to get enough.

It can make you kind of sad, even bring tears to your eyes.
When a friend you thought you knew, drinks himself to death and slowly dies.
When you think life is peachy, and everything is going as planned.
That alcohol train comes calling, and everything gets out of hand.

Premium Member May I Dance With You

Winnie the witch was seeking romance
So headed off to the Halloween dance
She went with her old school friend Mary
Who is cute and pretty but incredibly hairy!
Pumpkin lanterns light up the darkened room
Casting eerie shadows in the gloom
Winnie had her eye on a wizard called Arty -
She’d met him at a ghost and ghouls party
Arty asked Winnie to take to the floor
Scary costumes caused such a furore
Zombies and ghosts were sneaking a kiss
Arty kissed Winnie … his lips didn’t miss!!!
The music changed and they started to bop
Arty kicked Winnie’s leg - she began to hop
She burst into tears in the middle of the room
Arty helped her to the seat with the aid of her broom
Winnie’s ankle was broken – it was clear to see
They had to fly on his broomstick to casualty!

Premium Member Sneaking a President To Kyiv

Sneaking A President On Presidents Day

Sneaking President Biden to Kyiv without anyone noticing, sounds like something out of a movie. It really happened. He arrived in Kyiv on a surprise visit, signaling 'unflagging commitment' to Ukraine.

The United States signals its ongoing support ahead of the anniversary of Russia's invasion. This is the first time in modern history that a U.S. leader visited a warzone outside the aegis of the U.S. military — a feat the White House said carried some risk even though Moscow was given a heads-up.

Over the next five hours, the president made multiple stops around town — ferried about in a black SUV rather than the presidential limousine — without any announcement to the Ukrainian public that he was there. But all that activity attracted enough attention that word of his presence leaked out well before he could get back to Poland, which was the original plan. Aides at the White House were surprised the secret held as long as it did.

Meanwhile, in Kyiv, many main streets and central blocks were cordoned off without explanation. People started sharing videos of long motorcades of cars speeding along streets where access was restricted — the first clues that Biden had arrived.

President Biden Just Destroyed Putin’s Last Hope

Other heads of government preceded him, earning deserved credit. It is an altogether different thing when the president of the United States—who is, indeed, the leader of the Free World—shows up. His words mattered. He pledged “our unwavering and unflagging commitment to Ukraine’s democracy, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.” And even more important, that the United States will stand with Ukraine “as long as it takes.” Democracy, a beautiful word, from a beautiful President. We thank you for your statement of defiance.

Simply by taking the hazardous trip to Kyiv, Biden made a strategic move of cardinal importance. (He took a train for ten hours from Poland).

The End

Fun Fact
Jimmy Carter may have saved a nuclear plant from melting in Canada! Longest lived President 98, sadly, the former President chose to enter hospice care instead of more medical help. Taught Sunday school for decades! He absorbed the maximum amount of radiation a human can take.

Premium Member Blast To the Past

I grew up in the rockin 60’s
Everything back then was new
Rock ‘n’ roll and Chevy’s
There wasn’t anything we couldn’t do

Hot rod Fords and street drag races
The girls wearing cashmere sweaters
The thrill of youth that showed on faces
That easily laughed at serious matters

Saturday night sock hop dances
Slow dancing with your steady girl
Sneaking a glance at other girls
Thinking maybe next, I will give her whirl

Oh, we had our gangs, punks and hoods
But everything was settled just by fists
Honor was always avenged, as well it should
But black eyes topped the list, not death

Mellow days and careless nights
Drive-in movies, who watched the show?
The heavy petting, and then the fights
“You’re my steady, but that far I won’t go”

The slow drive back to take her home
The sweet goodnight kiss outside her door
The promise that I would never roam
The secret wish she would give me more

Life was tough, and hard to take back then
Or so we thought, but soon would learn
Boys grow up, becoming men
Go places where men die, and bodies burn

It all happened so suddenly
A heartbeat, a blink of the eye
It all happened so viciously
One day to live, next day to die

High school grads, college illusions
Hot rod Fords, and street drag races
And then began the Western Union
“We Regret….” were all the traces

Left of lives that once lived for life
Those that did come home to peace
Now live with lives full of strife
And only wish the pain would cease

Wildlife Therapy

Sun sneaking a peek
through the tree tops
here at Lowell Ponds
smelling sweet scent of spring.

Watching carefully
across the pond
in the far distance
of a beaver his eyes on me.

Thin clouds in the
sky drifting to
far away places as
I smell such fresh air.

Wildlife has it
so together at
peace with each other
such therapy just being here.

Call Me Firestarter

Yes I can tell you I really liked school.
And yet sometimes I'd break a rule.

Peer pressure would drag me down.
Often I acted like class clown.

One day we were sneaking a smoke
in the girl's bathroom when all hell broke.

Up the hall a teacher came.
And surely I would catch the blame!

Tossed my smoke right in the trash.
Thought it was out-guess that was rash!

Teacher came in and let out a scream.
The trash can ablaze was a really bad dream!

Anxiously I awaited my fate.
My regret came just a bit too late!

Knew my parents would not be happy.
Suspended and grounded would be crappy!

September

SEPTEMBER

Sneaking a few minutes from each day’s waning sun
Each sunrise is later up, and its setting partner earlier down.
Pigeons will soon be the only fliers left in the town:
The migrants are going, or are packing bags quickly,
Escaping to the warmth and song of the south country.
My pansies are spreading without my restraint daily
Because they know it’s last chance to colonise extra turf:
Each fading beauty desperate to cling to mother-earth,
Reaching down for sustenance now in dearth.

Goth Girl

GOTH GIRL

Sitting beside two Goth girls;
Black hair, black clothes,
Black eyelashes,
silver studs in the knee-length boots,
pale daughters-of-Dracula complexions.

I could be in Whitby for a Goth convention,
standing on a crag
looking out on the cold North sea,
but I'm having a coffee break
from learning Swedish,
and the blonde thread running
through my thoughts
has been momentarily lost,
a shadow darkens the sun.

Sneaking a glance at her chill loveliness;
no fangs or love bite from the master
blemish her ivory neck,
and I laugh behind my newspaper,
laugh at the adult restraint
I have to honour,
laugh at the sentence,
Welcome to my castle!

She turns to look my way
but I have to get going
- Age before Beauty -
before the light of those eyes
makes me break
my thousand-year silence.

"distorted"

See who I ‘am? Don’t you even know who I ‘am? Don’t fake

like you don’t know me, you’ve seen me Before…I’m sure you

have. The sisters all be hating on a fine sister like me, because

I got it going on… Yeah, I’m the one that all the brothers want to

get with in town and those who haven’t wish that I could be their

Boo or Lil Ma. Let them dream on, I’m too much woman for just one

alone. You know you want me to be yours? All the brothers be wanting

to buying me the finest black pearls, diamonds and lynx furs…just to get

to know my name or get them digits from me. You feel me? You be faking

like you don’t see me when you be walking with your little anorexic

wife, but I see you sneaking a peeking out the side of your eyes at all this

lushes big booty thing as I pass you by. I know you want me? I might just

let you get with me, once I finish this last flight of stairs and get my inhaler

out of my pocketbook and check my blood pressure and finish this last piece

of KFC chicken. Yeah, even my horny young doctor wants to jump on these big

bones, he says…”Ms. Johnson you need to get your weight under control or

you’re going to die.” that’s just his little secrete way for saying I’m staring at your

big full bosoms and I’m just dying to bury my face between them later on tonight.

Yeah, he be begging for a shot at the big show… you all know you want me? I hear

yall when yall giggling and snickering behind my back as I pass yall by, be trying

to get my attention. You all know I’m way too busy to be bothered with all you haters

and all these men who want to be my lover and stuff. Honey… I’m in a hurry I have

to get my bus stop, so I can catch my next bus.

Affability and Amiability In Your Agility

Wear no long face
When storms rage in your space
Flying and crying you out of place

If you do
Like a cow you’ll moo
Shooting and hooting at the crew

You claim to train
With foibles you can’t restrain
With lower standards you strain

In muscles, corpuscles and bustles
Indulging in hustles
Egging you to tussles

You hardly believe worthwhile
Embracing a foppish lifestyle
As you claim to care for the poor for a while

Sneaking a surprise or a dose of gloom
When for the sake of the lake of doom
You elevate and fete misfortune in the room

That denies you peace of mind
When pride drives you blind
To become and grow unkind

Until an invisible hand
Teaches you to take an accommodating stand
In circumstances denying your pride the grandstand

That sinks the last nail
To administer a master class manicure the fingernail
Shining and gliding far better than the snail

You’d rather blessed and caressed humility
Stretching and fetching from your life adaptability
As you strive to promote amiability and its agility.

The Abandonment of Writing

There is no money in it. I am told in the office of my advisor,
In a small basement room hidden under books,
Smelling of hazelnut coffee, stale cigarettes.
It has been weeks since I indulged in either
Sneaking a warm sip from my mother’s cup,
A wonderful drag from my sister’s Marlboro.
The growth in my abdomen has come with sacrifice
And now yet another.

Sneaking a Peek

As I drew closer to the bedroom door,
through keyhole I peeked as I knelt on the floor.
And there she lay on a bed soft as clouds,
with barely a shadow to act as a shroud.

Quietly I crept while she peacefully slept,
a picture of beauty, I took and I kept.
I was sure not to wake her, I would not dare,
from her wonderful dreams, never to tear.

I wondered what dream she would choose to keep,
a token taken from a sleep so deep.
To interrupt my heart would not allow,
just nearing and peering like circling fowl.

Suddenly I touched her, I could not resist,
she awoke startled, clawed me and hissed.
Then Fluffy the cat scurried under the bed
and I had to snuggle with a pillow instead.
