Best Slow Up Poems
Asinine
The Poem
Spit and glue
Tape on glasses
Lace on wrinkled rumps
Lipstick on lizards
Ants in bee-hives
Parties in the cemeteries
Toothfairy bank robbers
Dunces in libraries.
Rhymes on caution signs
Large Letters for the deaf
and hearing aids for the blind-
Asinine.
I think, to see a cripple crabs with crutches,
bow-legged spiders with a pigeon toe-ed cat.
Or a knock-knee-ed rabbit- with a Multi-Colored Bat
Apes eating hor devours
Amish wearing Hats no-more
Imagine the scenic scene
That we would see-
If the Sky replaced the sea-
Spit and Glue will never do-Spit
won't do, when you need glue.
Dressed to kill with taped up glasses,Lace on strippers
with wrinkled rumps
It's a crazy poem but I really feel
You should never read rhymes on caution signs.
CAUTION
Look up here
have no fear –
There have been
twenty-six
accidents right here-
When you slow up
to read this rhyme
you may get hit
from behind
cross the white
line and smash
over the medium
You appeared before me like a road not on the map
Freshly paved and pounded flat
And I, having just inflated my high performance tires
Greened the light and shed my hat
No sign of speed bumps or sink holes to rattle my nerves
I vroomed down your stretches and rolled through your curves.
With the top down, in the pouring rain,
I gun it and floor it; not wanting to see
The Signs of caution in front of me.
Hands on the wheel, Mister!
Eyes on the Road, Sister!
“Oh please be the road I just know you can be!”
(as though you could alter your path to satisfy me…)
The road beneath does nothing to protest my bolt.
After all, it knows where it goes and cares not that I don’t.
As it yawns and bends,
I find myself wondering where it ends.
For what’s at the end of a road more often than not?
Nothing but a big ol’ parking lot!
And why should I care
How long it takes to finally get there.
So I down shift a gear and slow-up my pace.
Though now I can feel the rain on my face.
It’s okay though ‘cause now I know
I’ve no particular place to go.
I might as well lose the map, and as I grow older,
I’ll rest my vehicle on your wide soft shoulder.
Form:
Mama rhino sways slow up Indigo River.
Baby into eager stride for stride and shivers.
Waterbucks nudge tip-toe go downriver.
High grass and baby dance together
A game of play and a chance deliver.
Butterfly flutters hasten thither.
Baby-tired falls asleep standing begins to quiver.

there's some praying going on right now
and it's time for you to get on down
down on your knees and to God just pray
that He'll remove all the trash standing in your way
how many time in life have you taken out the trash
to get rid of all those things that are cluttering your path
be it the junk, the spam, the baggages or the issues
it's time to throw out all the old and make room for the new
sooner of later you'll have to alleviate yourself of all that stuff
the debris in your life of which you have had enough
you need to pray about all those things in your life
the burdens, bothers and bondage causing you struggle and strife
one reason that you should pray is because you truly aspire
to be free of all the troubles and problems that you no longer desire
but be careful of those things you carry along in life's race
the things that will weigh you down and slow up your pace
for as far as the East is from the West
God only wants you to have the very best
take out the trash in life, those things that are in your way
and pray God will relieve you of the rubbish this day
just bring it all to Jesus whenever you need a spiritual check-up
bring it before the Savior and be transformed from the neck up
just don't think for one minute that you're the one who's in control
for whenever you pray to God, He's in the process of cleansing your soul
and don't become a garbage picker and attempt to hold on to all that trash
let go of all the dirt and sin and become purified at last
there's a spiritual war going on and the devil's on the stroll
so be girded up in the armor of God to protect the Kingdom's stronghold
just take out the trash and leave it on the cross
get rid of the accumulation, it won't be a great loss
get clean from the inside out and gain a pure heart
learn to forgive, forget and let go that's the best way to start
for there is nothing in this world that the Lord God can't work out
He has the answer to every question that you could possibly sprout
so take out all the trash after you have prayed
and with a clean house God will guide your way
When I grow up
I'll still be growing up
is twenty-eight too grown up to still be growing up?
because I'm still growing up
I'm a grown up that's growing up while my little one grows up
maybe it's really grown up to keep growing up after you've grown up
my goodness dear self
all grown up, not grown up, half grown up, still growing up
slow down
or slow up
but give growth a slow go
because growth grows slow
smile the while
while you grow
But self,
where am I going while I'm growing only to keep growing?
A very crucial thing this is, this part of the greater whole
It hides, quiet, in the wings, so vital this thing
Never seen yet works so hard, does its job, day after day
Circulating, delivering, controlling the demands
Sometimes we need slow, or fast, it is taken for granted
And then it ages, develops flaws, performance gone
So, we slow up, until it fails and all comes to stop
Marooned, mired, our voyage ends
If lucky we can replace it, come back to life
Our journeys dictated by a high pressure pump

it be late at night
but the urge feels right
for an early dawn write
at the push of a button
not quite all of a sudden
mind vapors are put in
all the right places
to slow up the paces
and see what's been faceless
these past many months
despite the sighs and grunts
to log in the soup of poetry stunts
where one can build castles
without all the hassles
of computer program rascals
their logic of contexts and contents
a constant of restraints
that somehow just stinks
up down and sideways
nights and days
trying usual and imaginary ways
to log on then today
an email came this way
what happened i can't say
things just went right
this odd saturday night
my butterfly...now...in flight
stan sand

Back in the days, the Elders weren't lying.
Sometimes I get up and hear cracks 4 or 5 times.
The hip gets to hurting with any sudden moves.
Walk slow up the stairs, and hold the rail, fool.
Whenever feeling the urge, just slow your roll.
When shooting basketball hurts, you know you're old.
After doing some things we have to sit a little longer.
Forgetting we can't do things we did when we were younger.
I hear things Crackin' and Poppin' every time I move.
From the back of my neck to the top of my shoes.
Behind the kneecap, including hamstring and groin.
When I raise up, it's often in major slow motion.
Not only does your hair tend to get Moses gray.
The body tends to follow. Maybe off by a day.
Then!!! To top that off, women go through heat flashes.
Just stay in your lane, and keep Poppin' and Crackin'.

As a living organism
For a long time had no pot to piss in
Minimal optimism
Until I finally found wisdom
It all became different
Yet at the same time it didn't
Due to a glitch in the system
Another box of tricks
F*** all these politics
Before an apocalypse
I got to take a lot of risk
Otherwise I will not win
A better outlook, higher intelligence and more positive
Eventually I want kids
For them I've got to live
I'll always be there to talk with them
Get them family pets like a dog and fish
Bake them cookies that are chocolate chip
Build them a treehouse with my all I offer it
To me it's worth it in the end, instead of a crock of s***
A daily battle to stack my dough up
It's urgent that I cut back and slow up
Half the time I feel like I want to throw up
It's no bluff
Know what
Just means I got to grow up
And show up
I'll always be there for them, because I want to see them grow up
Buy them their own stuff
When it all gets 'so tough'
I'll help them out so that it won't suck
I'll teach and show much
For example to not treat others like they're below us
It's been one hell of a fight
I'll never give up in order to give them the best life
In this life of mine, it's the only thing that's felt right
Heyyy friend, since we always UP to something, I wanna give a tribute to the word UP, because everyday of our life we do something meaningful with the word up.
So with that being said, I wanna know, what’s UP with you?
How many of these UPs did you do today?
hurry up, stand up, start up, write up
raise up, speed up, mark up, fill up
come up, pull up, step up, climb up
drive up, straighten up, cheer up, tear up
rise up, lift up, run up, clean up, buckle up
chin up, pin up, put up, shut up
get up, sit up, hit up, spit up
woke up, broke up, spoke up
boot up, toot up, man up, hand up
chew up, blew up, screw up
walk up, talk up, hype up, type up
dress up, mess up, fold up, hold up
wake up, make up, break up
toss up, boss up, lay up, pay up
look up, hook up, took up, shook up
tighten up, lighten up, wrap up, strap up
save up, gave up, head up, made up
lick up, stick up, pick up
slip up, whip up, rip up, zip up
stock up, lock up, knock up
go up, show up, grow up, throw up, blow up
but never ever slow up
pop up, hop up, mop up, stop up
burn up, turn up, stuck up, luck up, f’k up
heat up, eat up, beat up, feet up
back up, pack up, rack up, jack up, stack up
but never ever slack up
I did a lot of these UPs today, but most importantly, I Stayed up and Prayed up…
Well, my “time UP,” lol
So what’s up? Can you think of any I missed?
pressing for
time s/he twitches the knobs
COMPRESSORS ON?
The plains have their moments of wild beauty
As you ride with morning wind in your hair---
The sage and wide open spaces thrill you
As you ride free on that celestial stair.
But the hill country is another thing,
Although you and your horse start out just fine—
You both have to carefully watch your step
As you ride down that steady old decline.
At first, you don’t really notice a change—
A misstep or a small ache in your back—
Then you sense you can’t do things you once did
And to your thinking there’s a certain lack.
Oh, you can still out ride all those young dudes
And you’re still relied on in a real pinch—
But your step’s a little slower these days
And you give slack when once you gave no inch.
Gone are the days of those endless trail rides—
Your tail bone ain’t the rock it used to be—
You’d rather be riding soft rocking chairs,
Than on the range where it’s rough and still free.
So you slow up your horse on that ride down
And look ahead to the clouds and sunshine—
As you steady your reigns and your old horse
And slowly ease down that long last decline.
Little Timmy in the saddle
Loves to writhe and wriggle
He just won't sit still
Only gallop will fit the bill
When his father says, "Son, slow up."
"Stride is tired, don't make him gallop."
I know I have brought some pleasure
To this child who is at his leisure
Overheard father talk one day
To some friends along the way
He said I sure do like to prance
I prefer to say I dance
I'm allowed a special treat
Whenever Timmy 'n I do meet
Apple or carrot drawn from pocket.
The key in the gate will unlock it
Soon saddle again will be applied
Where to go? He is my guide
I know I will have some fun
For now I know that I can run
the heart says I’m burning
the head says cool it
the heart says I’m yearning
the head says rule it
the head says slow up
the heart says faster
the head says grow up
the heart says laughter
the heart says do it
the head says not
the heart says question it
the head says what
the head says regret
the heart says take it
the head says not yet
the heart says make it
the heart says be mine
the head says maybe
the heart says you’re divine
the head says you’re crazy
the head says logic
the heart says needs
the head says stop it
the heart says deeds
the heart says I want you
the head says I need you
the heart says I love you
the head says I love you too.
Slowly the dream unwinds
we feel time slow up
and notice little things
which never caught our attention
before this moment
The beat - beat - beat of the clock
is echoed in our hearts
DO NOT
yield to those sho
preach negativity
Keep your eyes on the
sunlit shores
Let the truth be in
the telling
The tale which nature
offers in it's benificence
You will undoubtedly
feel tempted
to walk out
on this vision
Try to see
what we're going to achieve
And try to keep the story
moving along
It's a long tale
but we are an important
part of it
and we cast shadows
which are larger than
one would expect
