Best Scorches Poems
Open eyed, long tearless, foul silvered orbs
have you no pity? The aqua tide rides dry.
Blind staring scorches, accusing twin barbs
who burrow inward, a destiny to decry.
Scattered rendering, puzzled pieces aligning;
"Please mercy has a place, why can't I cry?"
Remove the cataract veneer, stop my pining
"Have you no place for maddened souls such as I?"
Nailed to the boards you see a canvassed psyche
dabbed upon a casein shroud in hues most bright.
"How many lamp lit days will you seek to find me?"
The light betrays me and I live in eternal fright.
Eternities unfold in Lovecraft Tales
upon the silvered side within my eyes; hell wails.

Sonnet
At night rapscallions in my head
Refuse the coal that scorches dread
And peace, however light the touch
Calms the seas where dragons rush
The crescent moon, my dreams aglow
With love so pure, pearl ivy grows
Hurried heart that once sought fame
Must kindle hope née shatter shame
Above the sky where angels dwell
My pealing bark in prayer reveals
A moment filled with His relief
When light grows dim
doth vanquish
Grief

Oh, Poisiden, you disrupt my sea;
Alter not your color for the likes
Of miserable me;
Your mouth foams in revelry
As I gasp desperately for
One remaining breath;
My rosary floats upon your
Fickle friendship of fury,
For your whims leave me
With goose flesh as
The grapevine wraps itself
Around my throat ~
I bear witness to antiquated
Notes which deceive;
The tongue of thy counterpart
Scorches this bosom...
Nevermore do I grieve,
Yet I swim vainly;
The chastity belt on land
It does remain,
Drowned dreams of delusion ~
Un- new;
I lurk within the shadow of
Door number two.

Dramatic Verse
Standing at the plate there is no doubt
The pitcher is determined to strike me out
He squints to see the catcher's glove
Then spins and swings his arms above
The ball scorches a path across the plate
I feebly swing six days too late
The umpire acts like he's having fun
When he bellowed out, "STRIKE ONE!"
Again the pitcher stares at the dish
While I silently make a wish
Not a big request at all
I only want to hit the ball
The pitcher rears back and throws a curve
The ball starts over there and then begins to swerve
I miss so badly I hit the ground
I can hear people laughing all the way back in town
The umpire is having a belly laugh too
As he holds up two fingers and shouts, "STRIKE TWO!"
The pitcher is doing a cocky dance
While behind the mound hiking up his pants
He looks smug and I hear the catcher say,
"Give it up boy, he's putting you away."
The pitcher shakes off signs 1,2,3
He's saving a special pitch just for me
He peeks out over the top of his glove
I can tell that this strikeout he already loves
He winds up like a crazy corkscrew
Slinging a pitch he has never threw
I close my eyes and jerk the bat
Somehow the bat finds where the ball is at
The crack was the loudest ever heard
Nowhere in this stadium can you hear a word
You can hear a pin drop in this place
Nary a smile on any face
You would think that ball was launched into outer space
But alas, it is just a dribbler to first base
I feel I should get out of town
When I saw the other team high-fiving on the mound
Dad said, "Don't worry son, we'll get them next time champ."
After all it was just my first bat at Little League camp!

My need for love
is never sated
it's not dated
but continuously present
ever feeling
always reeling
from its demands
it gets out of hand
you can't possibly understand
My need for love...
My need for love
is longevity's flame...
I feel no shame
it's always the same
it sears
and never fears
but scorches and torches
any barrier
livid carrier
it roars
temperature tempter
it soars
flaring and daring
not even caring
that I burn
that I yearn
for more of its heat
to be complete
it blazes
endless kindling
stoking the fire
delirium and desire
together conspire
to take me up higher
till I combust
consumption on repeat
all in my trajectory
consumed history...
what a tragedy
for me
is this...insatiable entity
my need for love...
My need for love
is never quenched
temerity of thirst
always at its worst
It withers me
can't escape...can't be free
its depth demonstrated
its force contemplated
this love well never fills
though fed till it spills
offering liquid thrills
it kills...for in no time, you see
it feels empty to me
can it be?
my need for love...
My need for love
is insatiable
I weep, I weep
for no one can keep
a steady supply
and I wonder why
I sigh
I die
there's not one reply to
My need for love
My need for love...
well now that you know
cause I've put it on show
My love, are you able
to keep it all stable
supply and demand
with your lips, with your hand
be the fullfiller
liberate from this killer
satiation subscriber
desire docilizer
need nullifier of...
My need for love
Yes, my need for love
from sated to abated
fully consecrated will be
when you make love to me

Dramatic Monologue
The sun is burning my eyes, my hands and my feet
Harsh light scorches the ground, setting it ablaze
The heat brings out the pests and flies.
I run from sliver of shade to sliver of shade,
hoping for merely a minute of respite.
Praying that the clouds will bring relief and rain
Rain never comes day in and day out.
Every sunrise rings more and more pain
I’m wishing that there will be relief from the heat,
But I have doubts
Rain never comes and the heat never ends.
I don’t want to burn.
It never stops.
The water never stops flowing,
During the dismal gray days,
Into the pitch-black nights,
With time, they only get damper and muggier
I hope and wish to see the suns’ rays
I want to feel the light and drying warmth of the sun.
I want to stand on solid ground that isn’t washed away,
My hands are numb from the flow constantly soaking them.
I continually fight to keep my head above the surface,
Rain never ends and drought never comes.
I don’t want to drown.
I can’t feel my feet,
I wish the ice could be melted but the sun is frozen
I long for heat to visit this land,
The cold is taking me captive
I want to feel a warm sun again.
An ice wind never ceases, never leaves
Bringing more snow and cold that bites
The endless wind taunts me with memories of warmth in the summer breezes
I can’t feel my hands.
I wish for just one spark,
I pray for just a small flame,
Something to melt the frozen sun.
I don’t want to freeze.
Far away I see a glimmer of hope,
A dark rain-laden cloud in the distance
Could this day be the last of the drought?
Could it be? A break in the clouds?
Yes, a ray of sunshine in my soggy gray world
The flood’s time is over
The sun is rising on a frozen plain once more
But I hear it, hope is nearby,
The dripping of melting snow and ice
As my hope builds, it is also torn down.
The cloud is gone;
The burning, ever burning sun has taken it.
I wish I wouldn’t burn.
But it isn’t so, the clouds have closed my only hope
They have destroyed my chance of standing on land
The rain pours and floods evermore.
I wish I wouldn’t drown
It wasn’t so, I didn’t hear a true sound.
The dripping was my own heart,
With my ears wishing to hear melting ice so much.
I wish I wouldn’t freeze.
We wished and wished,
We tried and tried,
We survived as long as we could,
But
I burnt.
I drowned.
I froze.

Narrative
A very mighty king resides on high.
His face beams down upon us from the sky.
We praise him when he’s shining happily,
Reflecting in the azure of the sea.
King Sun, however, toys with us some days.
He hides behind the clouds to make a haze.
And other times he likes to prove how bright
That he can be compared to Luna’s light.
We’ll be in swimsuits, ready for some fun.
King Sun has spoiled it though for everyone.
He scorches us and makes us pray for rain,
But his return we’ll pray for soon again!
Without his rays, we’d see much suffering,
And so we are indebted to our king.

A dark room as lights hit the stage,
I see an angel that takes,
my breath away,
Her eyes are only hidden by a mask,
I am frozen in time,
I feel your eyes piercing into my soul,
Drawing me into a hold I,
Can not escape from,
I feel the desire the raw passion,
And the endless emotion,
As the fire scorches thru my body,
I surrender I am all yours,
You move closer,
I can not speak,
You slowly crawl on the
stage towards me,
Your eyes melting my heart,
Welcoming me into your world,
I walk towards you under your spell,
Our souls connect,
As if we are the only two people,
In the room I see your smile,
That very familiar smile that smirk,
I remember from a long time ago,
From a different time,
Bending down lightly touching my cheek,
She whispers you found me,
That feeling can not be denied,
A love so pure that has with stood,
The many centuries of waiting,
As destined by the Gods above,
You have captured my heart again,
I am all yours.

The croissants of buttered hills
glisten in the searing marmalade
of August's arid oven.
September's cinnamon swirl
scorches muffin-colored homes,
the flames smothered
as October rains
send lives and mud
sliding into the ravines
like apple butter.
On Thanksgiving morning
survivors eat fall's charred breakfast,
then praise God in church.
In the milk of spring
they rebuild,
just like the last time
and the time before that.

Imagism
They pierce the unwelcoming night,
perserving eyes that receive nothing
but an unwholesome darkness,
hot accelerated breath scorches the
freezing air, as it penetrates
in entirety her raffish body while a
shivering anatomy provokes an age
of innocence, yet a stark awareness
of life’s tribulations, as she tucks in
her scarf, fastens her top button
before impetuously walking off into
the shadows to confront her next trick.

A love that has no limitations
No lines or laws to cross
No rules or regulations for the lonely and the lost
A love that sees through darkness and penetrates the pain
A love that finds no fault or foul and does not lash the lame
A love that asks no questions
A love that tells no lies
A love that glows just like a ghost in a neverending night
A love that shines like sunshine in the midst of savage storms
A love that does not bend or break like artificial sticks and stones
Extinguishing the evil that scorches longing souls
A love that reaches past the stops turning ravens into doves
Both endless and eternal
Gods own limitless love

Blank verse
The candle, which sets my heart aflame
The fire, which scorches my soul with your name
One question I ask of you, the truth if you please
Why’d you reject my light, when I’ve begged on my knees
Begged for your love, pleaded for you to me
Pleaded that on your mind, my heart would be
Did not thou see, the gifts I had in store
In order to spoil thy body and spirit galore
For now, that opportune has passed, for another is mine
This unfortunate heart forever loves at the wrong time
This new found torch, so angelically sweet
She warms my soul with her soothing heat
Her hues calming, her fumes embracing
A torch not planned for replacing
Although, with that said
Visions of an old flame roam the boundaries of my head
A flame never proclaimed dead, for loving you still I do
The candle, the fire, the NeverEnding Flame that burns for you

The smell of a delicate rose
That scrapes a nose
Flowers in Spring
With a smell so obscene
A taste of chocolate cake
Causing a face to break
It's like a walk on a cool beach
That scorches the feet
It can be just a step in warm water
That freezes to ice
Or a deserted Island
That's no longer paradise
Deception in love and life
Is like getting married, to find no husband or wife
It's a heart that loves unconditionally
But is smashed so brutally
A trusting heart, that's a beast in size
Only 2 be beaten down, by tiny lies
It's a deceptive shower in the month of May
When all hoped for, was a brighter day
Like freezing snow on a night of June
When summer ended so very soon
Swimming with dolphins, with no care
Then spotting a shark there
Like waiting Winter, each December
And find out it's not coming, or didn't remember
Deception has no regard for anyone or any things
It destroys like a hurricane, then sings

Mid-Summer Rain
The warm sun rises
to take the fleeting life
of the morning dew.
The blazing sun makes
the red horizon laugh
by spreading its
dazzling white radiance.
The sizzling sun bathes
the folks in sweat
as they run and exercise
on the sidewalks and parks.
The fierce sun embraces
and scorches the skin
of the outside laborers.
Summer is the whining
of the boiling sweat, or
the restless lamentation
of the electric fans?
As I was ploughing through
this mid-summer’s lap and
yearning for some cool breeze,
A wind blew, a thunder was heard,
One drop, many drops,
you came pitter patter,
with the smell of fresh soil,
Oh my mid-summer rain!
I cannot stop gazing
at your dancing beauty.
As you slide down,
Caressing the tree leaves,
This fire-baked Earth
chilled in salvation
so my body and soul!
Come often to wipe off the sweat
and to wash away the grime.
Come often to dampen the dryness
and to hold off the drought.
Come often and often,
Oh my mid-summer rain!
