Premium Member Queens and Kings All Over This Land
Queens are all over, and there are festivals, parades, banners and stuff.
I wanted to be Corn Queen once, but they chose a girl from Council Bluff.
Our phenomenal state fairs have a bunch of pageants galore.
We watch these winners parade in with titles, banners, and more.

Miss...

Premium Member I Was Trapped In a Daydream
I was trapped in a daydream,
Could not hear the math teacher.
Walked to the next class by the handsome stranger
Who was holding me hostage in my mind's eye

I was in love, lust too of course, could feel his eyes on me.
Smirked at his rapt interest in...

Premium Member School Day Hell
They called it school
I called it hell
From the huge imposing prison like doors
To the doom like toll of the bell
Everyday the same
Running for the school bus
Full of uncivilized Wild kids
Being pushed and shoved
Countless kids in uniform
Fearing the teachers and the day they were born
Satchel...

Take a second look at me, for beneath this midriff flab
and balding pate and wrinkly skin you'll find a science lab.
And though all may seem quiet, it may come as quite a shock
to find there are experiments going on around the clock.
Take off my shirt...

Going Nowhere
Slow motion memories.
Street lit like a movie set,
outside the dance hall.
Muffler-less cars,
full throttle, then eerily quiet.
Self willed machines idling along the street,
flooding the night; flashing eyeballs,
headlining teenage girls.
A sashaying crush; glancing, giggling,
disdainful in stinging beehives,
plastic jackets, high gloss paint and oily pants.

Cruising crass flash
false virility...

Rangitoto College
     Textbooks,
             chalk dust,
     young men
             full of lust.

The Girl Who Was Never Lost
I

Books aligned the cupboard racks--
It was no fancy place;
Tables, chairs(maybe backpacks--
Of students--in this case)
Lay about this little room at the school
Where i met her first.

Here, a flimsy argument,
Rose over something she had:
Made me think, '' she's a nut-case
Or maybe lost it just a tad''

Now...

I believe I may be Artificially Intelligent
For many of my lessons were taught by fools
Y’know, those pencil pushing test correctors
The teachers in all the schools

They gave us tests to ascertain
The truth of what they knew
That we’d complain about a D
On assignments over due

Taught us to...

Premium Member Feelings of a Rock
The professor carries me into his science lab and washes me off in the sink.
Dang! This water is cold!
“Granite, feldspar, a bit of hematite,” He says on Monday, explaining me to a class.
He does this over and over with many classes during the week.
I scream...

An Art Bell Moment
I was listening to a late-night radio show from Art Bell
about how aliens from space abducted a woman from her sleep,
it was spooky, creepy and gave me the chills,
finally, I fell asleep and what seemed several hours later,
I woke up to a gray, rubber-looking face...

Premium Member They Emptied Out My Brain
In science lab one day
  they emptied out my brain
Even poked, it wouldn't say
  a word about my pain

at never chancing what I knew
  was beyond my comfort zone
That's why my brain just never grew
  ~ the reason for my...

Premium Member He Killed Me For What Reason
An extra disappointing day in October.
I crawled out of the ditch, irritated and annoyed.
Alarmed I was not dead until I saw my body and knew I might be.
The other guy must have been drunk; this infuriated me!

I walked to his car, ready to...

Boy With the Curly Hair
Once again
my partner didn’t do their part
In science lab
I was alone again
But you took his place
You were smart
You were handsome
You got me the “A”
You walked me home
I never get out
But you convinced my mom
Somehow
The next day
You said you wouldn’t have me out...

   Stooped shoulders, shuffling gait
     Bulging belly, too much weight

   Double-chin, arms of flab

IF VAINGLORY WERE
If vainglory were a preacher
It'd resemble a rustic pastor
Lost in how profound his grasp of scripture is
Therefore echoes more of his fervent faith
Than the Creator's boundless might.

If vainglory embodied a nation
It would mirror a union divided
52 pieces striving for cohesion
But only sowing seeds of discord
A...
