Dance to Love

A tribute to my Dad, the late - Wilfred Forbes

She danced with wild abandon
she danced without a care
With sun kissed skin, her arms flung wide
Wild flowers everywhere

I chanced upon this secret glade
while walking early morn
A sacred aura surrounded it
a jewel in the dawn

A type of place where angels dwell
A place of Hopes and Dreams
A magic place of lush green plants
And sparkling bubbling streams

I drew back lest she saw me,
I dared not break the spell
Wild petals swirled around her
and to the ground they fell

Like homage to a Goddess
 that she must surely be
For Gods to but gaze on
 not mortals such as me

She twirled around so fast
I could barely see her feet
And even though I stood afar
I knew she gave off heat

When her tempo slowed right down
 the air became quite chill
The Elements were but her slaves
she ordered them at will

I could have watched forever
 so mesmerized was I
What would I give to dance with you?
 I murmured with a sigh

To dance with wild abandon
 with this Angel from above
A hundred birds would sing out loud
to watch us Dance To Love

by Maria Williams

This tribute is an enactment of a vision as told to us by our late Dad, which he maintained he witnessed as a young man.
He was an extraordinary orchestral musician and teacher to
some world greats.
He was accomplished in no less than 18 instruments, his favorites being the lead violin and xylophone (played with 8 hammers).

Thank you for listening and watching this video.

Premium Member Of All I Have Lost

Of all the things that I have lost
Perhaps what hurts the most
Is that I can no longer go
to where I once called home...

I cannot roam with childish glee
Down through the leafy grove
Nor play with snowballs, dance is snow
Then thaw beside the stove

I cannot use pink muhlberries
To paint my childish lips
I cannot eat the greens I've picked
Right down to soily tip

I cannot brown my little legs
Beneath the blazing sun
Or slpash in cold and icy pool
Until the day is done

I cannot play my hide and seek
With gateman's little kids
Nor drink the flavored Persian tea
Chase dreams through drooping lids

I cannot rub the walnut skins
And stain my fingers black
I cannot gorge on cherries sweet
I can't bring one day back

I cannot pick the blubell flowers
Or swing from walnut tree
I cannot gorge on luscious fruit
Those mountains, I can't see

I cannot run through fresh green grass
Nor bask on asphlat walk
I cannot run through classroom halls
Or tire from childish talk

I cannot show off gardened home
To foreigners and say,
"This place is really paradise
That none can steal away"...

I had a dream last night that I was back in my childhood home in Tehran, Iran. We lived in a walled, gated compoud that was the property of our church. My father was a school principal and the administration building and dorms were on our campus. We were situated in Shemran, at the foot of the ELBRUS mountain range. The compund was green.....beautiful. We'd swim in the icy cold pool then lie on asphalted walks to warm up. We had a cherry orchard, walnut, apple, apricot, plum, muhlberry, and almond trees. It would snow in winter, and My brothers would jump off the roof of our house into the snow. I can't describe the ache in my heart at not being able to go back. It was an enchanting childhood and no one can steal my memories. After the revolution in 1979, the government took over the property....but they can't take My dreams. I've shared this....painstakingly written on my phone because my dream was so vivid. I needed to share...

Premium Member Choosing Sides

Even as a child of God -
when it came right down to it
she stood firmly on her child’s side -
not God’s

.. and damn
how I envied that..

my friend
much to my dismay
chose a parent
as a closest confidant
breaking all laws of teenage angst
and going against
all preconceived
conceptions, norms and nature

I watched as they walked
a harrowed path together
mom being there for child —
smugly snuggly hammocked
in her emotional safety net

.. and damn
how I envied that..

I walked my path alone
because my mother
would have chosen
God’s side...

.. and damn
how I now envy that..

Premium Member Apples - Multiple Haiku

It bounced off the truck
And then rolled down the highway
Apple turnover

-----------------------------------------

How 'bout them apples
When Jonathan McIntosh
Won the spelling bee

----------------------------------------

Apple of my eye
Jenny had the sweetest smile
For another guy

----------------------------------------

Right down to the core
When that apple crossed the plate
An infield dribble

------------------------------------------------------

Just one little hole
In that shiny red apple
Just one little worm

Premium Member Phew What's That Smell

A smell permeates through the house
I’m convinced it must be house mouse

I hunt high and then I hunt low
But the source of the smell it won’t show

I get down on my hands and my knees
The dirt and the dust make me sneeze

The pungent smell makes me feel sick
Burn scented candles right down to the wick

Now I have a sad look on my face
The origin of the smell I can’t trace

Get some cheese and lay it on a trap
Wait for the jaws of the trap to go snap

But the cheese remains where its put
The jaws of the trap don’t snap shut

Found hidden in the huge laundry box
An old pair of my Pa's cheesy socks!

Smelly socks are confined to the bin
Now I can say to my guests 'do come in'!

Premium Member Santa's Synchronized Trip

Don't worry my child
if it is or not snowing,
be sure that old Santa
will get where he's going.
And though he prefers his
fast reindeer and sleigh;
old Santa can surely
come some other way.

There is just one rule
that he'll always be keeping.
He only arrives when
the children are sleeping.
So off now to bed
and dream of the toys
he's bringing tonight
to the good girls and boys.

You say you are worried?
It cannot be right
that he travels the world
in just one single night?
Well now don't you feel silly
right down to your bones?
You forget that you all live
in different time zones.

He starts in the East
and he goes toward the West.
He keeps up with time changes.
Now aren't you impressed?
Each zone takes an hour
and when he is done,
It's the very same time as
When he had begun.

So hurry to bed now.
Don't get Santa off track,
or you might have to wait
until he comes back.

Premium Member Feeding the Ducklings

A mellow day it was in my city,
So I went outside to take a walk.
The river by my house was so pretty
I sat myself right down on a small dock.

I had with me a sandwich for my lunch.
Mom let me make it by myself, you see!
I took it out and had begun to munch,
While kicking at the water happily.

Then suddenly, I heard the quack quack quack
Of many ducklings I’d not even seen
Before that time! For speed they did not lack.
The first one had a neck and head dark green.

I tore in pieces all my sandwich bread
And tossed the bits to him and the others.
I think we all should share, though big “Green Head”
Tried to take the pieces from his brothers.

That big one and the others were so cute
My sandwich did not last more than a while.
Then Green Head fled; the others followed suit.
They left me with no lunch but with a smile!

Premium Member Love Beneath the Stars

The stars move round in perfect harmony,
All planets move in their destined paths,
Never wavering. The harmony of celestial routes.
And now and then in the dark of the night,
I climb onto my roof and watch the million stars
Shining upon the earth with all their splendour.

Look right down in the sky, is that not the morning star
Many label it as Venus which does not twinkle,
But stares directly into your eyes, evoking love.
Oh, how elated can one feel, mesmerised by emotions
So deep into our hearts as we yearn for companionship.

Hush, the culmination of love comes with the moon
As it moves up above the dark purple hills.
I call my wife to come and see the enormous wonder
Of the dazzling resplendent night panorama,
Knew that our love now blends into a romantic oneness.

Premium Member I Am Free- Healing Power of Forgiveness- Revised

You abused me physically and mentally,
I believed I was everything you said.
I thought you had my back totally,
But my belief in you was hanging by a thread.

I was locked in a mental jail cell.
you were a warden of abuse,
our union together was pure hell.
You would often say I just blew a fuse.

Your vicious attacks tarnished my self worth,
that I constantly questioned my birth.
When I finally got the strength to leave ,
I sabotaged relationships like you wouldn't believe .

Because I was still in a mental prison of abuse,
you remained the warden of my life.
I gave up on relationships and said what’s the use,
my life with you was pure misery and strife.

I hated you right down to the core,
my hatred for you was never a bore.
Until someone shared the good news,
of Jesus Christ, I had nothing to lose.

I accepted him in my heart on that day,
he represents love and forgiveness.
By showing us how to live, he paved the way,
he walked in love and kindness.

He forgave me for all that I had done,
and it felt really good .
I accepted that the victory was already won.
I took my power back, like I should.

I felt free and no longer bound,
therefore I was able to stand my ground.
I had no choice but to forgive you,
and I am no longer sad and blue.

In that moment I took my power back,
I didn’t stress over what I lack.
I want to share my freedom with others like me,
so they in turn can be totally free.

The Old Dog

At a point where the old road meets the hill
and runs down the other side
There's an old tin shed that's standing, still
and a grave where the old dog died

He surely had seen better days
when our paths chanced to cross
As I lit up a fire and laid out my swag
he got up and wandered across

I could see from the look in the old dog's eye
that his race was almost run
but he sat by my side and offered his paw
So I gave him a pat and a bun

I cooked up some meat and he chewed on a bone
then he rested his head on my swag
We sat and we watched as the stars all came out
and his tail did a slow steady wag

We fell fast asleep and I woke with the sun
to find the old dog passed away
So I gathered him up and I buried him deep
and sadly I went on my way

It was later that morning I stopped at a farm
to ask about work round about
and I happened to see a new litter of pups
one turned and came waddling out

He sat on the ground and he offered his paw
and I saw a strange glint in his eye
Had the old dog returned? Was he telling me now
that I shouldn't be sad that he'd died?

Well I picked him right up and his warm puppy tongue
quickly licked off the tear from my cheek
I couldn't think straight, I was stunned and choked up
and found my knees going all weak

So I bought him right there and I gathered him up
He settled right down in my swag
As I walked down the road I could feel the odd thump
as his tail did a slow steady wag.

One Night In a Haunted Manner

I missed a blind corner one grim stormy night,
On a dark forest road, with no phone.
The crash was severe, but what gave me more fright
Was I had to walk out all alone.

A mile, maybe two, and there loomed into view
An imposing stone manor, quite old.
I felt somewhat spooked, but I guessed it would do
For relief from the drizzle and cold.

Despite my loud knocking I heard no reply,
Though some embers from somewhere glowed red.
The door opened wide when I gave it a try,
And its groan somehow filled me with dread.

I crept toward the flickering warmth where I found
A mere wisp of a man in a chair,
So pale in appearance he hardly seemed sound—
Like a shadow that’s only half-there.

I saw he was napping and hadn’t a clue,
So decided to give him a tap,
But to my amazement, my fingers went through
His left arm and right down to his lap!

I gasped in sheer horror and rushed out the door,
Though I never before had believed
In spirits or hauntings or vampiric lore,
So I wondered if I’d been deceived.

This mystery troubled me long years ago,
But I now understand it: you see,
That car wreck I mentioned was fatal, and so...
The ghost wasn’t him; it was me.

Premium Member Halloween Dare: Trick Or Treat

He cursed himself for accepting the dare. He never believed in ghosts or haunted houses. He thought it was an easy way to make a few bucks if he spent a night in a haunted house.

Now he found himself in the most deserted house of the small town, reputed to be haunted. He had lain on his camp bed and hoped sleep would come soon. Certainly, he did not relish the pitch darkness of the house or outside it.

Without any rational explanation he found himself hovering between nowhere and the balcony. He saw all the houses of the town light up in a flash of multiple lightning. It seemed to him as if the whole town trembled as an earthquake rippled below the ground. The balcony seemed to disintegrate, and he found himself falling, falling, and falling right down into an abyss.

He wanted to cry in alarm. Sweat oozed out from all over his body. He woke up on the camp bed. He tried to get up but found himself paralyzed. The darkness engulfed him like a bed cover. Suddenly he thought he saw a flash outside the bedroom in the corridor. Lightning? He had no way of knowing.

Finally, he found he could move his hand and grasp the bottle of rye. The liquid seared his throat. It was not easy to drink as he laid flat on his back. The heat was now intense, and he sweated profusely. He tried in vain to pull up the bed sheet to try and wipe his face. The only thing that moved was his heart that was pumping away like mad. Relax. No ghosts about. It was only in the mind. Tomorrow he would gain those extra bucks.

It was then that he felt something moving over his body. In the pitch darkness he could not see what this could be. Suddenly a pair of malevolent eyes glared at him out of nowhere, seemingly without a face. Then he heard the growl. He wanted to scream but could not. Sweat poured down his face and his heart pumped away like a rocket propelled to hell.

His friends found him next day, cold dead, a small cat sitting on his chest.

Snippets of the Mind

That's all we have when you come right down to it:
little pieces of life, random moments we dare call--
memories!

But what are these fragments, these snippets of the mind?
Just sort of, kind of bright flashes in the pan lighting up
the brain, rolling into the mind willy-nilly, like freight cars
abandoned by the locomotive?

All life's experiences, both sweet and sour, remain only as
touches, wisps brushing 'gainst the soul, memories as
promise but always as promises unfulfilled, unkept....

For the only reality we have lies in the moment, every
single moment, in each breath we take: everything
before or after the moment is mere illusion, a coloring
of the lost past or a fantasy that will never be born.

Life is like a fine bespoke suit until some madman comes
by to cut it up into myriad bits and pieces we so bravely
call-- memories....

Last Night While You Were Sleeping

Last night while you were sleeping, I could not help myself. I had a silent story for you, I just had to tell.

I drew pictures with my fingertips, of hearts and "I love you's". Covering your soft smooth skin, with invisible tattoos.

I saw you smile once or twice, it made me smile too. Right then and there I realized, I truly do love you.

All choked up I grabbed your hand, and pressed it to my heart. Then gazed right down upon you like, a masterpiece of art.

Your beauty overwhelmed me, I broke down into tears. Then whispered how much I love you, into your sleeping ears.

I smiled as goosebumps on your skin, started to appear. Then laid with you and held you close, I had to have you near.

I ran my fingers down your spine, and gently through your hair. The peaceful flicking candlelight, lit your skin so fare.

I softly pressed my ear against, your back to hear you breathe. Then hummed a tune inside my head, singing "I believe."

Though far away in dreamland, your heart is mine to keep. It's softly beating lullaby, helped sing me to sleep.

I hope that you will dream of me, I know I'll dream of you. I'll hold you right here in my arms, you are my dream come true.

For life's a tale of many things, and powers from above. But I know now without a doubt, the greatest one is love.
