Best Recanted Poems

Premium Member Take Nothing For Granted

I deferred the words " I love you"
Until the morrows light.
Words, that from my heart,
I felt impressed upon to say.

For sure, "I love you",
Would have best been said that night.
Still I reserved ownership,
For perhaps some abstinent day.

Instead, from my vast reserve,
Grating words were launched to flight.
Words that once I'd spent,
Could never be recanted.

I had failed miserably,
At living life in the moment.
So, doting on another days sight,
I had taken our time for granted.

The next day's sun, I found,
Rose not for both alike.
Albiet the sky was blue and bright,
My day was overcast.

For from my life,
I allowed to slip, a love untold,
Now I'm forever yoked with regrets might,
Hard and fast.

Regret is felt always when it is too late.

Premium Member Believe Your Heart

Vows get recanted as passions flounder
on the shoals of betrayal and remorse.
And drifting dreams navigate in darkness
whenever love starts to wander off course.

Beware of lust, a cunning emotion,
touting trickery and deceit as truth.
The seeds of trust oft germinate slowly,
and patience is a virtue new to youth.

Naive hearts are vulnerable to lies,
for the truth often appears conflictive.
Yet when love creates tears of happiness,
their salty-sweet taste can be addictive.

The feeling of being unique and prized
is awesome, combining two into one.
And purges the hurt from a broken heart,
instilling happiness, laughter, and fun.

Intimate moments make life worth living,
a time when your heart's devoid of despair.
Even though it is intangible, love's
physical impact is beyond compare.

To be loved is to feel wanted and whole,
instantly giving life a brand-new start.
For it's a miracle unto itself,
asking only that you believe your heart.

Brightest Of Gems, In Glowing Emerald Forest

There was a great tree there, its roots firmly planted
as solid as love vows, those never recanted,
its massive trunk and limbs, majestic to behold
beautiful treasures, as in tales oft retold
surrounding woods, a glimmering emerald green
all in all, as if from a bright fairy tale scene.

To visit, watch dawn's lights set it colors aglow
is to see Heaven and Nature's truth, clearly know,
our lives are wrapped in fragile, weakened human states
chained cells of wants, each one praying its not too late
seeing evidence of Heaven's stamp upon earth
giving promises of better life, ones own worth.

To find such peace basking in its soft healing touch
one should kneel down to pray, requesting not too much,
for Heaven's light flows forth from that massive, tall king
from its branches, flocks of glorious birds oft sing
within its cools shades, its living colors send out
proof of God's glory, that cause believers to shout.

Passionate Love

PASSIONATE LOVE

Will I find it
when will I know
Will I see it
how will it glow
Sitting here with patience
wanting to know
glistening from the inside
longing for the unknown
Steaming with immense passion
starting to fall behind
Today I write of misery
yesterday’s emotional kind
Tomorrow I breath of happiness
strong strengthen from within
Visions of all the past times
raw and soaring like the wind
Take all your learned decisions
thoughts that changed your ways
Create that perfect person
one that makes everything ok
As yesterday and tomorrow become chiseled
passionately within your mind
never fear and always remember
everything is of fated divine
All those memories that shined the truth
tomorrow’s future
shadows of revealing youth
Find each other’s own ones self
following the path of that source of wealth
As you will know once you see
the creation that’s made you feel free
Only you can find yourself
despite following the truth
Keep yourself above all others
ensuring happiness while staying true
As in the end the only thing that matters
the only reason you exist
the only common thing you have recanted
Is the truth down deep within your souls abyss
The mold that has enlightened the light
keeping it lit for years and years
The only thing that describes yourself
that you can’t have to hold
lasting longer
lasting forever
lasting longer than the truth to be told

Lost

The love we had
The same love we lost

What was given from God,
You soon tossed

Took me for granted
We said goodbye

I wish you'd recanted,
Given some sort of reply

I was yours,
Every part of me

Your pain matures,
Mine is set free

My heart is open
To everyone, but you

The love I gave
The same love I took back from you.

Premium Member Is There Something You Want To Tell Me

We used to Communicate, Brainstorm, Debate
but I find you've been quiet and distant, of late.

Just what aren't you Saying? What is the good Word?
To find out, I eavesdropped and here's all that I heard:

You Cheered from the couch for your favorite team,
then Boo-ed twice as loud when they ran out of steam.

You Uttered a curse word with nary a thought,
then you Muttered "I'm sorry" to those in earshot.

You Ordered a drink and took more than a sip,
then Explained to the waiter why there'd be no tip.

You Growled at the dog thinking he'd comprehend,
then you Howled when he bit you, cuz it was pretend.

You Broke the news gently when grandmother died
and Offered condolence when some of us cried.

You Whispered a prayer right before the big game,
then Ranted when they won, cuz they did the same.

You Offered to take the kids out for the day
then Recanted when you found out you'd have to pay.

You Requested a raise and when Boss Man said no,
you Suggested that hell was a place he could go.

You Gossiped about the new guy at the gym,
but Denied it when you were confronted by him.

You have Uttered and Muttered and Whispered and Lied.
You've Lamented, Suggested, Proclaimed and Denied.

You'll talk anyone's ear off with babbling glee,
so I ask - is there something you want to Tell ME?

Love Recanted

The distance growing
between us is cold
I've already mourned
you with out restrain
my heart an out pour
of disillusions now
magnified through
bitterness and rage.

I thought I'd love you
for the rest of my life
now I can only pray this
pain one day to subside.

Lines have been crossed
destroying everything I
once believed to be sacred
between us.

Let me go quietly don't
torment me through
meaningless outcries.

Just walk away don't say
another hurtful thing
Don't lend yourself to be
the executioner waiting to
cut the very thin thread thats
kept me alive.

One last thing I wish to tell you
 before I say goodbye
when I said "I LOVE YOU" I truly
meant it now those words left on
my lips to die.

For Diane

For Diane

You are young and so alive
and I am old but with the fire still alive

We come from places far apart
and still we connected at the heart

I have fought the fight you face
it happens in a very frightening place

Your troubles lie within your past
and time moves ever so fast

Slow down time - remember who you really are
you're not the person they say you are
Not the one who's lost control
or the one who'll never be whole
you are a very special person with a loving soul

Life is a gift most take for granted
and it's true your past life can't be recanted

It happened as you remember it
With all the pain and all the ****, but you can stop living in it

You can go on by learning to forgive yourself
and live a life not free of trouble, strife or yearning
but ever still a rewarding life of love and learning

I will help if you ask and I'll get right to it
But for now I love you and pray for your recovery
knowing full well that you can do it

As I have fought and so far have won
you can do so as well
to free yourself from your personal hell

Long after I have passed and left this place
please know I left remembering your beautiful face

It is the joy of my life to know when I am dead and gone
that you will go on - doing for someone new
what I have tried to do for you

Your special smile tells me we have won
Although a temporary victory it shall always be

As you will learn and I truly believe
"one day at a time" is the key.

I love you and I know you love me.

The Trilogy Ends

The brutalized girl breathed her last in faraway Singapore
She met her fate returning home, a couple of weeks ago
To shift the focus of the masses on an issue so emotive
And moved to a hospital in a distant land with a purely political motive
Reputed for organ transplants in which their hospital specialized
What good did it do to a grievously hurt girl whose condition had not stabilized
The six hour flight to the distant shore was surely a misadventure
The government was uneasy with restive crowds near their hallowed seat of power

The government paid lip service to the girl who is no more
Making promises to a nation, both aggrieved and sore
But in the interim, another girl in a neighbouring state
Ended her life, harassed and denied for weeks from recording her rape
The administration’s handling of such incidents
Are not far and few and have many precedents
A woman parliamentarian and doctor to boot
Said something very strange in a television interview
Referred to a victim from the past
And on her character, aspersions she cast
Pronouncing to media that it was not rape at all
But a call-girl’s transaction gone wrong; what gall!
Another MP, this time the President’s son
Sought to have fun with his knowledge of the English lexicon
And portrayed the women demonstrators of civil society as ‘painted & dented’
The backlash was so vicious, on national television he recanted
With red lights marking them as their sirens wail through the streets
Breaking traffic rules and followed by a bureaucratic fleet
Politicians think that from their ivory towers they have seen it all
As elected office bearers they never cease to appall
In times of crisis you can sense the disconnect
But democracy is about people’s choices, who do we elect?

And to men, I must ask why bestiality has become our way
Together we can surely change the world for a better day
Please resist if opportunity demands when you see a girl harassed
Or at the least seek help fast, you have to save the lass!

Friendship Lost

When times are good friendship blossoms
It fragrances all about
The sweet perfume of love
Let’s all about know
That no ill-will can see the light of day

Animosity can however set in quickly
Like a fast blowing wind
The sand castle of friendship can scatter
Far and wide
The shallow foundation
No match for the storms that now rage

This vitriol
Coupled with self-eroding contempt
Often puts paid to reconciliation

How fickle is friendship
How swiftly and cruelly it can be reversed
Turning to hatred
Leaving deep never healing scars
On one’s psyche

A fraternity of equals
The players of this social tangle
Had hoped and wanted to be
Sadly for some it wasn’t meant to be

Like hot water left to cool
The cold of unfriendliness may set in gradually
Or pour down with viciousness so abruptly
The reason can often to the injured party
A mystery be

The building blocks of unity
Are suddenly set alight
The flames of friendship past
Can burn oh so bright

Words spoken that cannot be recanted
Wound with skill
How advantageous is past familiarity
The knife knows where to grievously harm
Maiming with willful intent

How artful is treachery

Rage uncontained
Poisons all
A scene of no holds barred
A spectacle most dismal

The victor is but a fool
To think he has won
For he only fans the flames
That inevitably will consume him

Dirty laundry aired carelessly
Reeks mostly acridly
The recanting of embarrassing moments past
The venting of animosities that smouldered for too long
Is often too much to bear even for
The feuding ex-friends

There is no going back
From this point onwards

Thoughts and memories are ransacked
To find a grain of now apparent Ill-will
The petty of yore
Now comes to the fore

Life can sometimes burden
One unnecessarily
To acknowledge hurt caused
And to seek an end to hostilities
Is a road less travelled
A strong man or woman
You surely must be
To want to salvage what was once held dearly
But now dumped carelessly

What a tragedy is friendship
That once was
And never again will be

Luckiest Girl In the World

For you my words have been so carefully fashioned

for you, I am wholly, completely impassioned

Over these thoughts, in my mind I have clamored

though in truth, it is obvious I am completely enamored

for you all my world and time has been allotted

my heart smiles, yes I am besotted

with you I no longer survive, but I live

it's true that with you I am amative

for you I have love, which cannot be recanted

by you, quite clearly I have been enchanted

my heart I give you freely, for I cannot be captured

with you, I am calm, and yet also enraptured

how did I come to be so lucky I wonder

did the universe stumble, is this just a blunder?

which leaves me grinning like a fool, lost in bliss, toes curled

Or am I just the luckiest girl in the world?

Premium Member Exploiting A Lie

A lie is worse than a curse
A lie is a bad or false rumor on steroid
A lie can hurt countless innocents
A lie can cause unnecessary wars
A lie can destroy human lives
A lie is like a deadly disease or cancer
A like can spread like wildfire on social media
A lie can easily go viral. A lie is contagious
A lie can send the wrong person to jail
A lie can never be recanted or retracted
A lie can easily fool an uneducated voter
That’s why I will never vote for a criminal or a liar
A lie leaves an indelible or permanent stain
Regardless of the apologies
Too little, too late
Immigrants do not eat pets
A lie is like genie out of the bottle
Once genie is out, that’s it
The damage is done and beyond repair
One can never have the good reputation back
It is extremely hard to fully recover
As it is impossible or unimaginable to have a second birth
Racist lies are very bad, deadly and inhumane
A liar will do anything to win or avoid losing
A liar is the scum of the earth
It’s inconceivable for an educated person
To follow a criminal or to vote for one
Our world is in a sorry and incredible state
A lie is a curse going in the wrong direction
Hell is on earth. May God have pity on us!
Infernus in terra. Deus misereatur nostril!
May the Lord smile on us and forgive our sins!

Gvt

It's so hard for me to configure these thoughts into words
Shakespeare, where art thou? I need'st new ones unheard
Am I really in love or am I just scared of someone taking my place?
Why do I always want what I cant have? Do I just like the chase?
I guess that's it, because when I had you I took you for granted
I don't know what I was trying to defend, I should have recanted
Regardless of all that you are and always will be my best friend
I've been thinking for hours upon days about what could've been
The woman of my dreams, I'd do anything just to see that grin
You gave me all your love and now I'm trying to give it back
I don't deserve your trust but can we please make a pact?
Remember when we slept in and missed our first real date?
I've been trying to tell myself its all for a reason, maybe it's fate?
But I don't believe in that, that's me trying to take the easy way out
Because if it were truly up to fate then we'd be together no doubt
I think you can control your fate with small daily actions
Lately it seems like we've only been trying to get reactions
One day I'm your soulmate, the next you won't even hug me. . .
I imagined us married at 60, how does love turn to war so quickly?
Good grief, It's a shame the way we break each others hearts
I'm so sorry, I should've always treated you the way I did at the start
I've said that too many times. . . sorry is my favorite word
So, I can't even blame you if this poem goes unheard
People've been saying "don't date someone unless you love yourself"
What does that mean? What if that someone helps you love yourself?
What if they brought you out of the depths and showed you the light?
What if they're who showed you the garden beyond wrong and right?
Everything's so complicated now, it used to just be black and white
You can't build Rome in a day, but it can be destroyed overnight...

That Vow, To Yet Again Walk Forested Trails

In forest deep, wondrous gems lay hidden
yet lay he there, in great pain bedridden.
Through his window he could see forest edge
hopes he had, soon became a solemn pledge.
Some day, some sweet day he would again walk
visit that forested world, with Nature talk.
Stroll among gnarled trees, roots firmly planted
vow he made, to never be recanted.
Each day he would wiggle that his big toe
sure little by little feeling would grow.
One year and he achieved use of both feet
proud of all that work done under bed-sheet.
Six months more, he could feel up to his knee
he watched that forest cheer its helpful plea.
Winter came and he could sit up in bed
sadness gone, cobwebs were cleared from his head.
Spring flew in and to kitchen he could stroll
man was he happy, he was on a roll.
June saw his first joyful step on outside
his heart filling with rapture and deep pride.
By Summer's end, he threw away his cane
with determined voice swore that oath again.
As gold leaves fell, date was set for his trek
he vowed to never look back at his wreck.
This time of year his car had struck a tree
bed confined, he thought to never be free.
That dawn came, into the forest he ran
God gave blessed hope in his Nature plan.
Walking in deep, gems everywhere he saw
all about critter tracks with little paws.
Overhead, songbirds fluttered all about
sweet bird-songs came like water from a spout.
Now in tune with life, forest vow complete
he walked home, on those new dancing feet!

R.J. Lindley
November 25th, 1979

Note. This poem was written about the car wreck and later the amazing recovery
my friend had, and the vow he made, after looking out that window and thinking of me out in the woods hunting as I once did so often.
He being a Nature lover same as I and so very at home in the woods.
We once hunted together and had great times, but life sent us down separate and far distant paths.
Now I hear from friends that he is in a bad way and has not much more time left on this earth.
Today, I searched old boxes in storage, until I found this old poem to present.
Hope you may enjoy...
Edited today only to make a uniform syllable count....

Premium Member The Media

The Media
By Franklin Price
2/21/2016

The Media is quite confused
Finding they can't make the news
The internet's ahead of them
And their lopsided views

Some media Republican
Some are Democrat
The truth is in the middle
Where society is at

The internet will give us news
Eventually the truth
By the time we get down to it
Will be much longer in the tooth

Social sites simply satisfy
Common curiosity
Personal preponderance presented
For other members there to see

Doesn't mean that truth is found
When common ground sought
Just someone else believes the same
We've found ones with common thought

Don't blindly trust the social sites
Or reported news that's slanted
For if it's found, it's not the truth
It's easily recanted
