Proverbs of Life

Proverbs Of Life

If you don't have a purpose in life, then
you don't have a life.

It is not what the world can offer you. It is
what you can offer the world that counts.

If you think nobody loves you, think twice.
Someone loves you very much.

It is not how people can help you that counts.
It's how you can help people that matters.

If you have lost your best friend today, make
a new one tomorrow. It will make a difference.

If your life is not going good for you and you
don't know why. Analyze your life and you will
find some answers.

Don't count the bad times you've had in your
life. Count the blessings you had instead...

A passage, I read,
in the book of Academic Proverbs,
"Seize the day
and reach for the stars".
Along with many others like
"Follow your dreams,
don't sell yourself short,
and raise the bar".
There was no doubt the wisdom
behind these words.
They resonated well with me
until I got to thinking...

... who created the day
that I'm seizing too?
Who created the stars
that I'm reaching for?
When so many things
must work so perfectly
just to keep me alive,
who am I to ask for more?
The sky is the limit
when it comes to one's dreams.
But who might I ask
gave me the feet
so that I may chase them?
My eyes take in
the beauty of moonbeams.
My ears are perked for
the rustling of the wild oak.
It's always Me, Myself and I
is that not the way it seems?
Life beckons me forward,
but no, that's not all she wrote.

"Seize the day
and reach for the stars"
Profound words,
indeed they are.
But certainly not
everything...

... not by far.

For those concerned of my muse
My red neck proverbs, please don’t refuse,

If those considered to be, of lesser degree,
Could gain confidence in themselves, to see,

Refusing to be put down by some carnal mind,
Thank you! My love in my heart is fine,
Rather! It’s the mind that’s out of line,

For all of life will be set straight,
Before entry into the gate,
Given time, by the settling of the mind,

Although we may think we know,
Given to the mind so,
In our life, if there’s strife,
Will certainly show,

Proof there is in the pudding,
Being a gooden,
If mind wooden, blow so, and show,
Strife, in life so,

If a little toad frog had wings,
Wooden be given to his many flings,
Bumping little buttocks along on the ground,
Butt twood,- be heaven bound!!
                                       Selah!

Ever once in a while, I write a poem that I feel like, is good enought
to dedicate to someone."Carolyn Devonshire" this your lucky or sad
day, depending upon your own opinion of the poem dedicated!
Your dedication in your comments on poems in Poetry Soup, mine
included, are certainly a source of inspiration to me, as I am sure others.

Premium Member Be Killing Sin Or Sin Will Be Killing You - Proverbs 25: 28

Please let me speak about the heart
indeed the heart of all our aches
where our problems are to be found
so important to know for our sakes

God clearly wants us to know self-control
with His wisdom to exercise His will
for without self-control, one's left broken
helpless and hopeless just being still

Imagine a man with no self-control
like a city broken without any wall
open to every wind of teaching
allowing sin to have the last call

Learn well the words of John Owen
the great English puritan in the past
'be killing sin' for its a poison
to damage your soul to the last

So deal with your sin
or, 'sin will be killing you'
wise words that need obeyed
coming to God saying I do

('Be killing sin or sin will be killing you' - John Owen, English puritan minister (1616-1683)

"A man without self-control
is like a city broken into and left without walls")
Proverbs 25: 28 (ESV).

Every word, sentence and paragraph has three main components. Each one has a beginning, a middle, and an ending. On All Poetry there are two groups specializing in brevity. Pure brevity and brevity. Pure brevity can have as a complete poem only one word. Brevity can have more than one. "There is nothing new under the sun." But just supposing the words won't come, and you do not know what to say? What words, or images or memories pop into your head and/or your heart or mind. Use your God given imaginations

You could say," My mind is a complete blank today. I really don't know what to say. I don't know how to think it. I had a thought lingering in my mind for a few brief moments. Than it slipped away like always. Christians can rely upon Jesus Christ and/or the Holy Spirit for inspirational words and topics. There is always the Bible. And there are free on-line books of the Bible on the internet.
Jews can rely upon the Bible as well for background knowledge and/or information. The Bible is really for everyone. When I was younger I used the Old Testament books of the Bible. Psalms and Proverbs. I still draw upon the bottomless well of knowledge, the Holy Bible!

For example I wasn't sure if the correct word was either earth or world. So I used the word earth. I searched the book of Revelations. Only to come up empty. The correct word I needed was world. I made the necessary changes to my Psalm of Victory! The psalm is to be found on my All Poetry website.

Observational poems are based upon experiences either yours or other people. The full white luminous moon lite up the starry nighttime's sky. Famous poets frequently relied upon nature for inspiration. "Poems were made by fools like me but only God can make a tree." I forget her name, but remember one line of her famous poem.

Avoid having things either too short or too long. Depending upon your composition and/or audience. But there are one word, sentence and line poems. Avoid being verbose and using fourteen letter words. Unless it is recommended. Jot down your thoughts, doddle do art work. Whatever works out best for you and your prospective readers. Pray really works!

Premium Member Fear the Lord and Turn From Evil - Proverbs 3: 7, 8: 13, 16: 6

Proverbs is full of great wisdom
having complete trust in its word
leads you in the way of righteousness
any other route is totally absurd

Don't trust in your own sight
be sure to display godly reverence
turn yourself away from all evil
fear the Lord your God in His night

You can't do these two things
for fearing God is hating evil
all types of perverted talk you hate
arrogant pride brings your justice date

Your iniquity needs to be atoned for
faithfulness and divine love does this
fear the Lord and turn from evil
brings you to receive your eternal kiss

Having God's fear deep in your heart
enables you to be holy and obey
all that the Lord commands upon yourself
in Christ, you're able to do as He says

(Be not wise in your own eyes;
fear the Lord, and turn away from evil.
Proverbs 3: 7(ESV)
The fear of the Lord is hatred of evil.
Pride and arrogance and the way of evil
    and perverted speech I hate.
Proverbs 8: 13(ESV)
By steadfast love and faithfulness, iniquity is atoned for,
and by the fear of the Lord, one turns away from evil.)
 Proverbs 16: 6 (ESV)

(Quote:
" I believe it is impossible to consistently walk in obedience and holiness unless you have the fear of God in your heart." - David Wilkerson (1931-2011) U.S. Evangelist )

Premium Member Your Heart In His Hands -Proverbs 23: 26

Listen well to your heavenly father
He speaks to you from heaven above
His best intentions He has for you
His words are always filled with love

The Lord is asking for your heart
for that’s where He wants to dwell
so from there to guide and direct you
on the right path away from road to hell

Look to Jesus your saviour and friend
watch always with your eyes to observe
everything that your saviour does and says
learn whatever happens to keep your nerve

God’s ways are full of wisdom and light
the master creator in all things to know
He knows the end from the beginning
do as He says then you’ll steadily grow

So keep your heart in His hands
always observing well His true way
keep in step with your saviour
follow on until your eternal day

(‘My son give me your heart and let your eyes observe my ways’.) Proverbs 23: 26

Proverbs 26:7, 9
Like the useless legs of one who is lame
is a proverb in the mouth of a fool.
Like a thornbush in a drunkard’s hand

Premium Member Godly Fear Begins With God - Proverbs 1: 7

Proverbs is a wonderful book
telling the reader all that's true
considering it with deep thought
it makes such real sense to you

'The fear of the Lord' makes one halt
it brings you to stop in your tracks
to ponder and deeply think about God
so you question yourself about your lack

God is bigger and greater than you
being eternal before, future, and now
true knowledge begins and ends with the Lord
calling you reverently to humbly bow

The majority of this world are fools
despising wisdom and godly instruction
no matter how much God shows His love
they reject His message of spiritual resurrection

Knowledge begins with the fear of God
be sure that's your motto all your days
make life a joy in the Lord's presence
abide in God's word obey all that He says

('The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.')
Proverbs 1: 7 (KJV)

Premium Member Don'T Rejoice When Your Enemies Falls - Proverbs 24: 17

Jesus made it clear to love one another
but sometimes this can be very hard
only when the holy spirit enables you
to love your enemies like no other

We need also not to rejoice
when we see these enemies fall
be sure never to wish for bad
things too that they won't stall

Remember the words of the Lord Jesus
to love our enemies doing them good
if they have a need you must meet it
no matter how you feel even in a mood

Forgiveness is an act you must do
as Peter asked Jesus how often do I
forgive one that offends me so
seventy times seven was His reply

Remember God's great word of command
love God fully with all of your heart
and your neighbour as yourself
this honours God in no small part

("Do not rejoice when your enemy falls,
and let not your heart be glad when he stumbles,")

Proverbs 24: 17 (esv)

Proverbs 31 Woman

Proverbs 31 Woman
by Sandi Hoot

Behold she has unique eyes,
A smile one of a kind
Though her hands are wrinkly and dated,
still beautifully divine
Each freckle on that face makes her more unique,
But her inner beauty is what we all should seek
Proverbs 31 woman works with eager hands,
So pleasantly involved and working with a plan
She wraps herself in humanity giving to the poor,
She’s clothed in strength and dignity and
never wanting more-
She serves God with all her loving heart and contagious soul
She seeks his will for her life and let's God have control
She teaches her children the ways of the Lord
Patient and soft-spoken and living in accord
She loves her lads and trains them in the way they should go
Knowing that when trouble faces them they shall rise up and never stay too low
She cares for her body consuming healthy foods
She uses hospitality to minister to those around her she's always in good moods
Proverbs 31 woman is what we all should be
A virtuous woman for God's word stands the test of time and lives in you and me

If-Proverbs For People In Recovery

If you don't get up in the morning
you will never have to face life.
If you don't get up in the morning
you will never experience the joy that is life!
If you don't walk out your front door
you need never face stress or panic.
If you don't walk out your front door
you will never know the exhilaration of a day!

If you don't make use of your time
there will still be no more of it left at the end.
If you don't make use of your time
think of all you will have missed in the end!
If you don't first give of yourself
you need ask for nothing in return.
If you don't first give of yourself
you may never know true fulfillment or love!

If you don't walk through life as a child
you may never hear its song or experience its harmony.
If you don't walk through life as a child
you may never join the great chorus which is life!
If you have faith in an abiding God
you will never, ever be totally alone.
If you have faith in an abiding God,
the end of this journey means the beginning of another!

PROVERBS 31 Woman
Who knows the woman, virtous today,
Her lighted candle, burning through each night.
Considering her vinyard meant to stay
For seasons yet to come, when time is right

Whose strength is in her arms, and loyalty
To each within her fold, yea, maidens all,
rejoice for being part of all they see,
and all they see is one who'll never fall.

In weaving of her tapestry, her gold
and silver thread in candle light's aglow
reveals her story all too seldom told.
and what each husbandman should know.

Her linen sold, with words of wisdom's charm,
There's never need, for causing any harm.
