The One Sock Phase

In the factory where he worked
When he noticed, he had to scoff
Several men were walking around
With one sock on and one sock off

He had seen them with earplug strings
Hanging out of their mouth, a phase
As he walked into the restroom
He thought, "Never in all my days!"

On the "Throne" he saw no paper
He thought he should watch who he mocks
When the guy in the next stall said,
"You'll have to use one of your socks!"

A Prologue To Phase Iii

Dearest Vicar –
As a poet’s lines:
It is divinity proper!

Onions figure
In our everlasting divinings:
Her white ashes
Of our burn-fire
And the dew of dawn’s tears
Still coax the rainbow
To no avail

Her white ashes
Splashing wet-dusts of dark days:
Cocks crow in vain?

Just a Phase of the Moon

A false
promise cascades
over black satin in
skies just beyond the midnight hour
gone deaf.

Silver
strings play silent,
old, memories waking
a long forgotten orchestra
once mute.

The chant
of heartbeats thump
as thunderous thoughts churn
crescendos of mixed emotions
that scorch.

The tails
of fallen stars
wag their cleft tongues and taunt
for dead wishes of love to be
revived.

Such sad
golden eyes are
blind and yet still see all.
Each lie dashes the truth and kills
a dream.

The truth
is prisoner
in lairs of midnight lies.
Serpents coil around tomorrow's
moonbeams.

The ghost
of deception
binds the spirit but it's
just a phase of the midnight moon;
and me.

This star
will not fall from
the midnight sky because
it floats on confidence, not love;
not lies.

Phase Line Whatever

here I go again
on a belt fed groove,

suck it up
ruck it up,

legion on the move,

all the things we used to have
all too soon are gone,

wave goodbye
eyes gone dry,

another trek through foreign dawn.....

see the henna hidden dirty faces
bodies broken poppy crowned,

empty futures, empty lives
only empty bargains found,

while broken daughters cast away
scream silent rage while bound...

(our hands help up, theirs slap 'em down)

and cast on through the compound
catching tracer lighted round,

jump into a compensator boogaloo
side slippin' all around,

as I slowly turn my eyes
body armor turned and wound,

hands up in greeting, STOP!

the brass like shining carpet
clinking sharply tragic sound,

falling slowly oh so slowly
like coffin nails drowned...

my soul spilling on the ground.

Soon, the Air: Sleep Funk Phase

drowning
in fountains of learned ink
and lit keys

Lost and flailing...

Did it ever matter?

nobody would even notice
if sunlight goes black,
hidden behind sleeping will.ows
muffled by snores
and striped-barked trees

stifled pattern
viewed through stubborn lashes,
through discolored eyes

Soon,, the air

A Phase of Life

There is a thing I need to face
A race I need to chase
But with every step forward
Demons succeed to make me coward
Still holding to little hope
Here I stand looking for a scope

There are people whom I fear
Responsible for my painful tears
In silence I ponder how
To bend and make my devils bow
Some says life is a long drive
Encourages me to somehow thrive

With nothing but darkness behind
Whose roots started tainting my mind
I look up at the starry night
A ray of light oh! so bright
Seems to whisper in my ears
The story of its own past years

Trust is every relations base
Once broken becomes a cruel case
Its jury is someone dear
A verdict you always bear
Eyes with a misty haze
I realize it's just a phase
I realize it's just a phase.

Phase Transition

Humanity is moving
through a
 dangerous
 phase,
transition.

 Animal instincts
intact,
driving things
forward.

The animal can
take us only
so far.

Procreation,
self preservation
now
impeding the way.

Sex and violence,
the endocrine
ruling the day,
our lives.

Hormone drench,
 clouding intellect,
logic,
will slow things,
from here
takes us down.

Intelligence,
  free
of such
 distractions
moves
things along.

Transitioning
to the future
a dangerous task.

The Voice of Rain: New Phase

It's raining here & there
a refresh tone is coming,
Bubbles on the earth where
a life is to be remaining,
Thunderstorms on the sky
behave like a blast of bomb,
The rain wants to be try
to the heart, it's happy tomb,
The rain is singing something
& dancing here and there,
The rain is saying something
for the life, it is where,
For the newness of cropfields
the rain is play the role,
The greenery all over the fields
the rain is only whole,
The rain for the newly buds
that coming over the flower,
It is like a flow of sheds
the rain is only shower.....

A Moment In Physical Phase Actuality

never necessary
is a full cup of hate
my movements are
my medicine
my choices are my health food

watching you sleep on the
passenger side as i avoid
the highway admiring the scenery,
i shake my head with a smile because
i have never met one with quite the
personality such as yours

as we arrive to our destination, i cannot
help but think back again to a time when
my only travails were the occasional daydreams
in the back of a dark movie theater

now here i am....a participant in a picture....
experience being the ultimate autograph....
i find myself thanking God without knowing,
which brings me back to earth

checking in to this hotel once unaffordable,
i, for some reason, become a nervous wreck,
oh what the heck....then i look at you....holding
the same oar as me....it is then that i realize that
i am not the only one posing with movement

never necessary
is a whole pint of regret
my plan making is my rehabilitative scrapbook
my decisions from here are my mirror image results

Phase One

Phase One

By Nathan Hannen

Half of my soul arranged in psychedelic patterns
Remaining, I don't know what it is that will happen

Concrete expectancy rate, A silhouette of void shades
The green queen, Or the one legged ace of spades

The acorn leaf, Devoid of respiratory functions
Arriving at multi exitable crossroads, With eternal junctions

A preparation of rumbling acidic downpours in vain
Around the corner, Zig-zagged in purple flame

A road continues through a three dimensional lane
Amicably, Enemies melting to death in the toxic rain

The End.

I wanted to make something out of nothing,
But nothing I did find,
So someone must have left nothing,
If nothing was left behind.
So all I found was nothing,
Was that something,I did find?

The Life Trip (Phase 1)

I am 20 miles from happines
but my tank says 5 miles to empty
failure is behind me doing 95 mph in a brand new whip with a full tank of gas
I know I can coast 15 miles down the hill but its 6 miles away
so I ride ready for what ever.

This Is Not a Phase

Endless chaos it wrecks my mind...

My soul is burning through this cold shell of mine!

Inside my head an ocean of sadness and loathe...

and in each day I struggle to stay afloat...

I'm alone...I am..so..alone.....

This is not a phase!

With not a single sign of peace in sight,

nor a fragment of solace that I can find...

I don't feel there is any other way and

in this moment there just isn't anything left for me to say!
