You're just higher then most.
Your creativity and intelligence set you apart,
from others met coast to coast.
We are much alike in heart and soul,
Does it really matter if we don't like to bowl?
Intimacy was all I wanted when we first met.
But that all changed after playing the first set.
What I started to feel within,
made me want to keep the game going,
lose or win.
I know you can be a witch,
throw me in the ditch.
But that's usually fear and fatigue talking,
not wanting to get hurt again.
I build you up the way I do,
not to put pressure on you,
to live up to an impossible standard,
no one could meet.
It's because you're down,
I try to act the clown.
I think we have something inside,
that gives us a shot,
 understanding because you're smart,
as well as smoking hot.
If we find we can handle each other's downsides,
can't escape that,
the upside is so worth it,
Whether we remain skinny or fat.

Premium Member Crumbling Pedestal

You rise above me on your lofty pedestal
Cracking your razored whip
Ordering my possibilities
Leaving your intricate patterns on my back
Red lace adorns your masterpiece

I chip at the base of your column
Choosing for your mighty to fall
You are unaware of your teetering
Cracks adorn your insignificance
Your monument betrays you
True power lays waste to your beliefs
The bottom always determines what stays on top

Look into these eyes
See past your own disaster
My power resides within my compassion
I do not wish to rule your castle
Freedom lives beyond your gates

I was not born to be your enemy
Hate does not flow through these veins
Justice shall not be served by my blade
You instead scurry to the top of your rubble
Impale yourself with rusted sword
Fleeing your own salvation
You answer your ghosts
Delivered by you own injustice
No one left to mourn your passing
You believed you could go no lower
Unaware Hell would embrace you in serpent arms
After all you descended from your father
A fallen angel has no where else to fall

Love On a Pedestal

The torment I feel inside,
Missing you wanting you,
Then there’s someone’s foolish pride,
Where are you?

Love is always there,
In SICKNESS and in health,
You know how I feel, I care,
You make my heart melt.

Days of wine and roses,
I might not give to thee,
But you can count on little posies,
I can get them for free. ….. Lol.

My heart is yours,
To do with what you want,
My love endures,
Something I want to flaunt.

The sunset is ours,
The moon up above,
Let us dwindle away the hours,
Let me show you my love.

The light is slowly dimming,
I am missing you so much,
You know I am aching,
I long for your touch.

A kiss goodnight,
A cuddle with you,
You know it is right,
With our love so true.

The Pedestal I Put You On

Within my heart of hearts there lies
a place apart, enshrined for you,
secluded away from other eyes,
  a refuge out of view.
I visit each time I watch you pass,
hide there so your gaze can't see
this admiration internalised
within the very depths of me.
Herein a deeper sense of love,
a structure sunk in flower petals,
encrusted with longing diamond smiles,
  constructed out of precious metals.
Its nature transcends the superficial
skin of sex and cold desire,
beyond such mere transience
there burns a different kind of fire.
Yet you may never know of this,
and I must only dwell upon
the truth of whether you deserve
the pedestal I put you on...

Larry On a Pedestal

Larry- you are my dove!
The poet I truly love,
Don't give me a shove
when you're the one
on a pedestal, always above!

Pedestal of Love

Was I not an apple of your eye
Securely placed in the pedestal of your love
Washed with the showers of your affections
Housed in the confines of your heart

For a while I was your beginning and ending
The truth known to your lips
Implanted in your veins
Beating along with your pulse

I was a joy to behold
A treasure worth to be told
Yet time stole my shine
I am no longer your smile

Once upon a glorious time
In not so far place and time
Were we not birds of the same feather
Flying with each other's wind

I was in the pedestal of your love
Securely placed in the sacredness of your heart
Now I am a sore to your eyes
A sharp sting to your heart

Was I not a song on your lips
A joyful sweet feeling to sip
You use to clutch me to your heart
Hold me as if never to let go

What happened to the love
Who stole all our shine
I cannot longer feel the warmth of your love
So lonely is my flight

Golden Pedestal

They put me on pedestal
so I know I can’t fall down
and if I’m not impeccable
I guess I’m just their big letdown.
They say they want me to be better
than they ever were;
I’ve got to be a go-getter,
not just any amateur.
How can I live up to this ideal,
when that’s so far from the truth?
My nature must I conceal,
am I a misunderstood youth?
They say they know who I am,
before I even do.
I nod quietly and say “ok, ma’am”,
instead of how dare you!
I’m not allowed to fail,
or ever make a mistake
Since I know what failure entails:
a daughter to forsake.
On those particular days,
I can feel the noose around my throat.
What they want feels like a maze;
they love to watch and gloat
as I wander through its walls
so lost and filled with doubt,
I’m just their little doll
and I’m never getting out.

My House On a Social Pedestal

So this is my house still standing where others have fallen:
There is still the light of love inside the room,
Peering through pinholes, our professor, for twenty- four
Years called it peace, love and unity, a philosophy of virtues,
While savouring his moments of speech on madaraka day.

He had a sense of humour, our man. He could make people laugh
Even when they had tears in their eyes and grief in their guts.
His words opiate the mind like religion. You could earn some
Perks too if you could knock doors of the godfathers
Who lived in the greater shadows of the house on the hill.

I had sheltered under this illusion for years, if only to
Sooth my soul in the glaring savannah of my arid life, reading
The landscapes of calloused hands and pallid faces.

When elnino came i could scurry to my home, standing on
Tin sheets and rafters, ants on the floor, the doors
Keep no snails away; my abode binds me like a bad debt.
My other brother is a sonko; his house, stone and slate, the strengths
Of my hands. Walls and floors that slide snails. Lacquered landscapes

And green gardens so wide that his children play tennis on the lawns.
Egrets have company, he has got a cow in the compoud. I gather he
Could wrap stolen fat in the canopy of trimmed grass too. My house holds history, but Hope still latched on its door frame. Tomorrow I too, will rise in the rain, my shovel
Speaks for me. I earn my pride and measure my prize in one brimful palm.

Pedestal

Funny isn't it?
The day I don't save your seats.
Suddenly I'm a ghost,
It's the day you start ignoring me.
And I realized you never truly cared about being my friend.
None of my efforts mattered in the end.
It was only those front row seats.
Sheesh.

I'm still pricking my own finger by letting you in.
You've only broken me before and still I let you win.
Tell me why you always make it end up like this?
With you on your pedestal,
And me as your foundation.
I'm still trying to fix your problems
Even though they aren't mine.
Why must it end like this every time?

The next day you asked for my answers.
I didn't even hesitate.
Said that you had a tough weekend.
They still weren't yours to take,
But I wanted to help you so badly,
I thought that you'd like me more.
The day after that you ignored me,
And we had identical scores.

I've seen it coming for a while.
I started changing myself around you.
I felt that if I was to be accepted,
I had to be pretty and popular too.
And those days when you braided my hair,
Didn't know I was being used.
Thought you were just being nice,
But I am not yours to abuse.

You stack your victims in towers.
Tear them down after building them up.
Use your excuses as power,
And then you put yourself on top.

Pedestal Breaking

While I watch her, an adored jewel,
Flinging on with my old pal
She crashes from the pedestal,
Like a burst of glass
As love etches death on the alley.

Upon a Pedestal

Delusion reeked havoc within his mind,
whispered words of the near insane,
hatred building up making those blind,
that would follow him faithfully into the flame.
Blade in hand intent on seeing death that day,
he stabbed and hacked her pure beauty away,
robbing her of life and that of her innocent baby.
Onward he strode leaving behind a path of destruction,
littered with bits of flesh and strewn with the blood of a lady.
Never hesitating with even a moments remorse at this production,
forever etched within the hallowed halls,
upon a pedestal where his name is placed upon walls.

Pedestal

I had sat upon a pedestal
For years without disgrace,
Then real life came along
And knocked me on my face.

I'd pick myself back up
And try to climb again,
But half way to the top
It caused me too much pain.

I wished the loved ones in my life
Had never put me there,
On the very top of a pedestal
Where they'd look up at me and stare.

I won't go back to such a place
I would really make a fuss,
I don't belong way up there
In this world, nobody does.

You see the air is very thin
Your ears don't seem to listen,
And all those clouds around your head
Affect your normal vision.

The Pedestal

Down through the ages, the centuries that have gone by
There are those that society, that will place above the rest
To a higher ground, so small impossible to stand
Thinking that are perfect, millions will testify
The perfect one has passed every test
Loved, worshiped and hailed across the land

Riches, fame and glory, are in their reach
The finest food, castles made of gold
People from all over the world will listen to what they have to teach
Until the time, when the true side of the story will un fold
And it will be another story

Until that fatal day, when the pedestal come crumbling down
They take the largest fall of all, to the very bottom
Walking a tight rope with out a security net, they stumble
In everyone's eyes they are a fool, no longer a king with a crown
Poor choices with lack of judgment, actions without wisdom
Their only refuge, is to become humble

The world, hurts because they have been deceived
One day he was their hero, now a zero all alone
Be not quick to judge, he is only human like us all
Maybe we were wrong, the fools who believed
When the hungry wolves go for the heart and cut to the bone
Let only God judge and be placed on that pedestal

Premium Member Down From the Pedestal

You fell from the pedestal
With a strong resounding crash
I rushed to pick the pieces
To throw them out with the trash

I worked to clean the rubble
That your falling left behind
Surprised that I had no tears
For I knew I had been blind

I had simply adored you
I had worshipped at your feet
I had seen you as perfect
To be near you was my treat

I made you a demi god
Invested you with great charm
Couldn’t see the tell-tale cracks
You used devotion to harm

For I thought you were splendid
My life revolved around you
Little did my trusting heart
Believe what they said was true

But then my eyes were opened
Caught a glimpse of what is real
My heart started to crumble
Each piece unable to feel

You fell from the pedestal
I see you with different eyes
That lie was the fatal crack
That brought about your demise
