The Crossover
By Kim Patrice Nunez

Come, let me join you in your world
beyond the glow of crescent moon
I won't be stopped by words you hurled
my love enfolds you silent soon.
I felt the anguish of your mind
and heard of secret crimes you hide
Turn not away, the truth let’s find
You’re still alive, they thought you died.
Healed of every sin from my life
Entwined by death the heavens will subside
In each soul resides purpose and strife
Walking in a new world side by side
In a world, making any kind of sacrifice
I found forgiveness beyond the night
By the gates, love waits in paradise
Crossing over into the light.

A unicorn took flight with brilliant, rainbow wings
ascending from the heart of a joyous poet.
Dark eyes shined like jewels, smiling from high,
parting dark clouds and unwrapping gifts of
love and friendship. Words of light and purest
energy reached to heaven on a spiral staircase
where blessed angels extended hands of healing
to a poet's heart. They know her well, her hands are creators
of many a masterpiece - sharing, befriending, inspiring, encouraging -
soulful in words and action, passionate in her artistry,
selfless of her time...see how her admirers crowd around
as the unicorn descends once again from her rainbow flight?
All wait with feet on the ground, sharing prayers, asking the angels
to sing so she may feel and know she is not alone.
Never, ever alone in the fight. Too many of us have been
where she has been, felt the darkness pierce our hearts.
With hope and faith, the sun will shine again. The angels will sing.
She will ride that unicorn again and share her poetic heart again,
smile again, laugh again, teach and inspire.
She is more than just PD, she is Linda -
friend, daughter, mother, grandmother, nurturer -
The darkness cannot have her. She is needed in the light.

Sleep my lovely baby/PD/lady
Although I am so far away
Listen to the sweet song I sing
Feel in your heart I’m not leaving
Soft wind cuddles you in my arms of love
My warm embrace never makes you sad
Before you close your diamond eyes
Make a wish I am with you tonight
All dreams that you dream here or afar
Will be answered by those bright stars
As the moon smiles sweetly in your sight
Giving an assurance that you’ll be alright
Sleep my lovely baby/ PD/lady
Sweet lullaby I sing as I fervently pray
May God keep you safe while I’m away
In this world you’re so special in His way

This can be sung in a tune of a lullaby song which my teacher had taught me when I was still in Grade 4, I remember more vividly but not exactly the tune and the title and lyrics not anymore.

"TELL YOU ABOUT ME "
Born a full blown Libra to a scale of blind justice
My hair & eyes are brown as can be
I come from a large family
Don't like to be called a princess
every now and than you still find me climbing up a tree
My daddy paid for my expo ride
My favorite color comes in green
In my hometown I join the women baseball team.
I still own a lot of Mardi beads
I love boxing in my own back yard
I dislike when people think I am very brainy
I no longer care of the Physics of my stare
Funny to think I once knew that the mass and energy,
is related to the famous equation E=mc (tiny) 2....
c how I love the speed of light, gravity do to motion due
m &o are like the m&m of the mass related to the observation of me
LOL : - ) I still have a bit of physics dumb minded skills
Ask me this tomorrow and I will forget every # of square root
Yikes to geometry I want to c light when it comes to v for my velocity,
changing and walking to a straight direction to my four walls of dimension.
That is me not so nutty but a little crazy
With an IQ, to mix and match & play it out.
I love the challenge when I'm standing on my own high horse
Ask me to many questions you will get a beat around the bush
Who really needs to know the truth about being confused
I love to passion out my color pink.
I alway come across to many eye blinks
Get caught up in puzzles that help me think
Yes I love video games Just got done playing "Halo"
M.K. Liu K. is all I got to say/// me play Guitar Hero? hmm? ;-)
My spirit does not let go of the cartoon phase.
When it comes to favorites, I place my son as # 1
How about my favorite niece, she my only true buddy
My favorite all time poet, not many care for his dark eyes Mr E.A. Poe
Emotions to feel it all, why not let it show.
Do not give me coffee, I will over expose my silly charms.
I love my dog, hate his fleas, I keep him away from the birds and the bees
One thing I can not go with out is to solve a mystery when in doubt
I guess sometimes I can't even figure myself out,
Why some one would say I can be a role model?
This is just a bit about me, ooh yes I forgot to mention
I love the slamming world of all kinds of poetry.

I once knew a poet named Andrea.
Assaulted by someone’s hysteria,
she wouldn’t engage,
but feeling some rage,
she fought all night long with insomnia.

Thank you for this string of pearls
What a beautiful sight!
Right?
Yes.....a sheer delight.
You look surprised!
You gifted them to me
Can't you see?
This beautiful pearl tapestry
Exquisite jewelry!!!
One by one....
They came to be
A word, a look, a gesture....
Each one...an irritant
You slipped into the softness of me
So....unobtrusively
You forgot to set them free
As for me?
I had to survive
Had to stay alive
Forged from what pained
My nacre tears rained
With each silky one
I spun and I spun
Now...I'm all done!
This necklace you see
YOU gifted to me
****** ******* *****
The pearl you wear,
Can't be compared
The inner beauty
Your shell gives
A surprise you gave
Upon my face
Blind by beauty upon your grace
A jewel not easy to trace
Perfect in every way, you trend
Hidden deep
Beneath the sea
Grains of sand lost peacefully
Your strength came in a form,
While being intruded on
So precious, breathless
I needed more
Layers of nacre
touch my greedy hands
A pearly tapestry
I gave my loved one
You shun away, giving shine
The Mother of Pearls
I rest my case!

A Poem for My Distant Friend PD
This Poem is dedicated to Poet Destroyer PD
Inspired by Linda-Marie SH of Poetry Soup
A Poem for My Distant Friend PD
What gift, I should send to you?
My distant friend,
Which can fill your heart,
With Joy and Happiness,
Like sweet mid summer Rains,
Which would fill you,
With the fragrance, which comes,
From the first drop of Rains,
When it falls on the heated soil, and
Splashes as
An intoxicating fragrance
To keep you Happy
Without sorrows and pains.
I am trying to give a shape to my gift,
With my words only,
The moment you would read it,
Sound and Music,
Will come to your mind and
Colors too would emerge
As clouds emerges
Every now and then.
The moment you would see,
These words and lines,
Coming from a distant friend and
A place not much known,
A strange happiness,
Would fill your heart
My dear Poet friend.

"A P.D. Sleepy Lullaby"
Star Light ... Star Bright ...
please send P.D. sweet sleep tonight
wish she may ... wish she might ...
close her eyes by candlelight.
Star Light ... Star Bright ...
cuddle P.D.'s head in pillow bright
wish she may ... wish she might ...
snuggle beneath blanket of white.
Star Light ... Star Bright ...
may P.D. enjoy a dream delight
wish she may ... wish she might ...
cast all her cares on wings of flight.
Star Light ... Star Bright ...
relax P.D.'s mind through each night
wish she may ... wish she might ...
soar above Heaven like a kite
Star Light ... Star Bright ...
caress P.D. till morning light
wish she may ... wish she might ...
see pleasant places to ease her plight.
Star Light ... Star Bright ...
calm P.D.'s stress keeping her uptight
wish she may ... wish she might ...
receive good vibes to set her right.
Star Light ... Star Bright ...
I'll say a prayer to hold her tight
wish she may ... wish she might ...
make a wish on a star which shines so bright.
good night P.D. good night.

You said you wanted a slam
So here it goes
You're going to feel it stinging
from your head to toes
A wham, bam, thank you ma'am
A sinister soul I am
I took to you
and quite so soon
I gotta make you unglued.
You're famous, you're a PS tart
and I do mean that
from the bottom of my heart-
But it's about time you got a taste
of your own medicine and male hitting disgrace
And I will scream this in your face!
Oh how right you were
and I must concur-
That this slamming crap is fun-
but your words will all be a blur.
So tap -tap you're next,
Don't worry, I like you too much to hex
but not enough to have...
So get with it, little bit-
waiting on you to get a clue
Send me your slam-
And we'll see who wins the GLAM!

I’m Breaking Up With You, P.D.
I’m breaking up with you, P.D.
This is the very last poem you’ll ever get from me!
So understand me, Poetry Diva, we’re seriously through!
My husband will certainly leave me if I don’t leave you.
Let me explain it like this, my lovely, lethal girlfriend,
I’m so addicted to PoetrySoup, my marriage will soon end.
I know for sure that you don’t care and you won’t cry,
‘Cause on to a better poetry lover you’ll quickly fly.
Well, Deadly Destroyer, I'll see you around - - -someday maybe -
But right now I’m breaking up with you, P.D., so this is “Hasta la Vista, Baby!”

Creature of myths and legends
most deny that you ever exist
yet time after time you reappear
history the world wide names you
Depicts you with spiral single horn
gleaming white starry coat
its said only in a virgin you trust
when you will lay your head
In her lap as she tames
your ferocity and wildness
only then can you be caught
yet should we capture you?
Is it not best to leave you free?
some things are best left alone
never to be proved as fact
I know I believe you to be real
Yet a wondrous creature living hidden
that forever free and wild should be
allowed to roam in our minds and hearts
bringing hope and joy to future generations

for PD's contest written 06/11/2013
The unicorn is a legendary animal from European folklore that resembles a white horse with a large, pointed, spiralling horn projecting from its forehead, and cloven hooves. First mentioned by the ancient Greeks, it became the most important imaginary animal of the Middle Ages and Renaissance when it was commonly described as an extremely wild woodland creature, a symbol of purity and grace, which could only be captured by a virgin. In the encyclopedias its horn was said to have the power to render poisoned water potable and to heal sickness.

There’s a peach of a girl named P.D.
Who is a friend of both you and me

Oh PD Linda’s a wily sly fox
She wants us to think outside the box
But I should be in bed
Rest my poor aching head
I have joined the school of hard knocks
I can’t think of a pesky line to write
For Linda’s entertainment and delight
But my muse has now flown
My poor brain's turned to stone
Will someone help me with my plight?
Oh what on earth am I going to do -
I wish that we had a new local zoo
I’d see a cute unicorn
That was recently born
Linda - I’ll think of a poem for you!
