A Poem For Pd

A unicorn took flight with brilliant, rainbow wings ascending from the heart of a joyous poet. Dark eyes shined like jewels, smiling from high, parting dark clouds and unwrapping gifts of love and friendship. Words of light and purest energy reached to heaven on a spiral staircase where blessed angels extended hands of healing to a poet's heart. They know her well, her hands are creators of many a masterpiece - sharing, befriending, inspiring, encouraging - soulful in words and action, passionate in her artistry, selfless of her time...see how her admirers crowd around as the unicorn descends once again from her rainbow flight? All wait with feet on the ground, sharing prayers, asking the angels to sing so she may feel and know she is not alone. Never, ever alone in the fight. Too many of us have been where she has been, felt the darkness pierce our hearts. With hope and faith, the sun will shine again. The angels will sing. She will ride that unicorn again and share her poetic heart again, smile again, laugh again, teach and inspire. She is more than just PD, she is Linda - friend, daughter, mother, grandmother, nurturer - The darkness cannot have her. She is needed in the light. for Shadow Hamilton's Fighting Depression Contest, 12/1/14

Such a lovely poem, not only for the words used and how they were fused, but also because of the deep compassion and beautiful friendship that spurred the poet to write for someone so greatly valued and esteemed. If I can be like any of the two, then I would consider myself blessed indeed. Congratulations and may more blessings for the new year be with you...Kim :)

I already have this poem fav'ed... Rhonda,, Congratulations on your win. I'm finally making time to read every entry, intended for me in Shadow's Hamilton depression contest. It was a tough fight, however at the end I prayed, and asked to take over and he did. WOW, it was what I call a miracle. Thanks for lifting my day with this poem... Love LINDA

Congratulations on your first place win. I have to say though that you cheated it is the only reason you got first place and I only got second. Such a cheap trick, all you really did was write a much better poem than I did. Oldest trick in the book! Yeah you did real good with this Rhonda a Fav for me!

Beautiful poem, depression is so complicated, but its like falling off a cliff. It's hard to climb back up the cliff, but when that time comes, it's a wonderful feeling, and looking back it seems like an old dream that does not quite seems real.
