For PD's Collaboration Contest August 28, 2015 By: Eileen Manassian Thank you for this string of pearls What a beautiful sight! Right? Yes.....a sheer delight. You look surprised! You gifted them to me Can't you see? This beautiful pearl tapestry Exquisite jewelry!!! One by one.... They came to be A word, a look, a gesture.... Each one...an irritant You slipped into the softness of me So....unobtrusively You forgot to set them free As for me? I had to survive Had to stay alive Forged from what pained My nacre tears rained With each silky one I spun and I spun Now...I'm all done! This necklace you see YOU gifted to me ****** ******* ***** The pearl you wear, Can't be compared The inner beauty Your shell gives A surprise you gave Upon my face Blind by beauty upon your grace A jewel not easy to trace Perfect in every way, you trend Hidden deep Beneath the sea Grains of sand lost peacefully Your strength came in a form, While being intruded on So precious, breathless I needed more Layers of nacre touch my greedy hands A pearly tapestry I gave my loved one You shun away, giving shine The Mother of Pearls I rest my case! ~A Poet Destroyer Collaboration~

Eileen, I just love this one, especially the metaphorical part about the pearls as "irritants." Goes so well with what pearls actually are. Whose idea was that? Yours or PD's? Big congrats on a well deserved win.

Oh, Eileen, first I want to thank you for giving me the chance to work with you. I'd never imagine you'd ever give me the time to collaborate this soon. I'm just saying because it was for a contest. Anyways, I was pleased you did this sorta slam with me. The ending and beauty of the pearl suit you. I felt no matter the strength or beauty one possesses, there's always someone out there's gonna want it or take it for granted. You are strong and beautiful like the Pearl... By the way, I once had a set of pearl earrings. It was amazing, how everyone wanted them badly. So badly, one day they disappeared. :( Anyways, thank you. LINDA

EILEEN, first I want to thank you for giving me the opportunity here. Working with your poem, was great. I have to admit, I was lost, How would I respond to this poem? but after a 3rd read. Everything was a must and flowed the PD way. However, My poem was to match the first ending. THIS outcome gives it a better feel, than the beautiful free verse slam, it was in the beginning. I love the beauty and strength in your verse. Thank you, for giving me that chance... A perfect 7 and fav.... LINDA

Hi, Linda. Thanks for coming back to this collab. The minor changes. I saw that your contest was going to close so I sent you something really quick. :) You did a great got to follow my line of thought, and I just made a few minor changes to my part. I added the last two lines...and a few other things. It is still a sort of SLAM, as the sarcasm is still there....Thanks for your part. It suits mine well. :) Glad you dropped by....Hugs

I would say this is a pearler of a poem, drawn from the depths of the oceans imagination by two of my fave poetesses on soup. I wish I could dive this deep and crack open a necklace of words so beautiful. Take care both of you, Richard
