“This poetry. I never know what I'm going to say.
I don't plan it.
When I'm outside the saying of it,
I get very quiet and rarely speak at all.”
Rumi

Poetry,
sometimes you can be cruel,
manipulating me to express thoughts
which I've secretly suppressed.
You poach pieces of my soul,
massacring my masculinity,
revealing my vulnerabilities -
you make me look like a fool.

Have you become the definition of my silence?

Poetry,
your introduction intoxicated my muse,
bursting drunken lyrics through my veins,
confusing my grammatical accuracy,
acting like an angry alpha autocrat artist,
assassinating my adverse alternative alliterations.
My vocabulary is helpless against your stubbornness.

Poetry,
Sometimes I hate you,
when you are erratic and brutal,
bleeding unfairly against my will,
causing pain through vicious verses,
but, sometimes I love you,
when you bring soothing serenity,
flowing sweetly from my calming quill.

Poetry,
You are a restless rebellious catharsis.
I don't know if you are a blessing or a curse.
My life is repression on repeat,
I'm somewhat an expert,
yet you create a pathway to open doors,
creating a balance in an unstable world.

Poetry,
I remember when I forgot you.
In your unwritten absence,
my heart resembled a blank canvas,
but then you returned like a snowstorm in June,
reminding me of Rumi's beloved spirit.
Now you consume my mind,
my speech and my tone -
overtaking a tongue's desires to remain mute.

Poetry,
I never cared for rhymes,
until you found me at a time of soul searching,
blooming evergreen words to leave a legacy behind.

I was lost without you.

Premium Member One Rare Night

One rare night
   fell
      midnight blue
as a multitude of stars, like lofty thoughts,
pulsed with light,
confessions from
the depths of twilight’s essence - sky.

The poetess, ensconced in her small room,
reached down
   deep inside
         her soul of indigo.
Immersed in the profusion of her thoughts,
she felt compelled tonight
to search for only those that shone. . .

Ignoring a collage of ideas
which summoned disillusionment
or inspired remembrances
of bitterness and pain,
she moved a pen across a journal page.
Words upon words radiant with hope
began to flow. . .

As eventual as the overtaking of
the poetess’ rare night by morning’s dawn,
completion of her work had now arrived.
Surprised to be so pleased,
the poetess discovered that all the while
she had been
delineating stars.

Rebirth

Blackened clouds roll in
While overtaking the skies
Feeling the anger in the air
Growls takeover the sighs

Ominous feelings of disaster
Now pending on the horizon
Atmosphere reeks bitterness
A fury there's no comparison

Darkness is cut with flashes
Rumbling fury fills ones ears
The storm rages on no mercy
Soon the clouds release tears

The storms undeniable wrath
Takes it's toll upon the earth
A battle that ensues unending
Cleansing the land with rebirth

Premium Member An Interior Mechanism

Since childhood,
as alexithymia struck my soul.
I kept all my hopes a secret,
hidden in a bucket of unshared dreams.

I kept my soul sweet like marshmallows,
but life has finally caught up with me,
Like a fast car overtaking recklessly,
leaving me behind in the slow lane -
and I'm running out of fuel.

I'm a vehicle of flashbacks from flashlights,
fatigued from embracing the old,
preparing for freshly brewed emotions.
Yet they deprive me at every dawn,
as new beginnings are always challenging.

Suffocating in this silent selcouth slumber,
life tries to call my bluff, when it knows,
I am the master of my masquerade.
My soul pleads with fate to usher me with belief,
but I can see death at my doorstep,
creating intrusive insecurities like termites,
eating away at branches of my sanity,
feeding upon my ordained Orphic glory.

Emotions are an interior mechanism,
so many remain fooled by my exterior,
but I'm tired of searching for salvation.

You who claim to love me,
gift me a scented candle made with your hands,
so its sentimental scent can bring me peace.
Take me to a place without a name,
without a label,
without judgment -
without suffering.

Unchain me from jeapordising January jitters.
Free me from meandering in misty meadows,
which have misplaced me in foggy morning sunshine -
bring me clarity.

These are not random thoughts, random poems,
because my ink is tired from trying to find new metaphors,
to supplement an abundance of alliterations,
portraying humble happy horizons.

Love can be a false emotion,
when we yearn for reciprocal ravishing redamancy,
but when was love ever equal or even fair?

I have no resolutions, just to breathe with ease.
Sometimes love's presence made me feel aesthetic,
but sometimes a badly drawn self portrait.

You can stay or leave, but do come back,
hold on, but not too tight that it chains my wings.
When I ascend, please, miss me,
so my spirit flies back to you.

Can you not see the irony?
We accumulate many reasons to die,
but search for only one reason to live.

Ask yourself which oxymoron are you?

Dying to live or living to die?

*Alexithymia
A person's inability to recognise or describe ones own emotions

* Redamancy
a love returned in full; an act of loving the one who loves you; the act of loving in return

Premium Member A Call To Life

Alone in the night
A memory stood
Naked and cold and veiled
Fueled by the lie
Of destiny robbed
A ghost of itself
In hopelessness wailed
.
In fear the memory, frozen;
Heard a call from deep in the night
Apprehensive heart flooded with passion
A rhapsody to run to the light
The dirge of sorrow subsiding
With dawn overtaking the night
.
The substance of hope now rekindled
Evidence undeterred yet unseen
The call of the fathers resembled
The one forming and coming to be
The groan of creation upon it
Made by the Son to be free
.
The chains of religion now broken
The shackles of fear dissolved
Windows of Heaven reopened
Overwhelmed by the power of Love
.
Strength made perfect in weakness
Basked in the glow of the call
Gates of hell lying in ruins
With Grace overtaking the wall
Fear and hate shamed and defeated
And Life freely offered to all

Premium Member With God, I Can

With God’s omnipotence that does attest His wondrous might
I can overcome temptation with its sinful temerity
While fighting valiantly transgressions’ filthiness…
…Pursuing after holiness in living for His honour.

By God’s omniscience that fully opens heavenly wisdom’s aperture
I can vanquish ignorance with its folly’s nuance
While subduing doubts’ collaboration with skepticism…
…Seeking for His truth which sets me free toward jubilant triumph.

Thru God’s omnipresence that marks every great spiritual saga
I can prevail over unfruitfulness of barren faith
While conquering insecurity brought by lack of trust…
…Striving to please Him with my labour of love.

Because of God’s overtaking blessings that highlight His marvelous grace
I can win against discontentment that afflicts my well-being’s marrow
While gaining His favour midst righteous proclivity against time-wasting…
…Advancing the Lord’s kingdom and sharing the Gospel* as His grateful steward.

*Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth...

Watching the Sunset In Maui

Pictures shared over the airwaves
Palm trees giving ever so gently
To tropical breezes are captured
As our forever moment in time.
With each sunrise comes the
Rich greens, soothingly calming blues
And gently comforting whites.
A breathtaking scenery of a canvas
Of unimaginable creation.
With each setting sun comes
Enriched hues of the primaries.
Blended reds, oranges,
Yellows and blues create stunning
Mixtures of color in and about the
Horizon slowly overtaking daylight
Seemingly setting the clouds ablaze.
The ocean mimics with darker tones
As the sky slowly closes its eye upon
Us holding our hearts just a bit longer.
Daily repetition allows us to
Visualize its blessing in the
Hopes of acceptance and
Appreciation of what we have,
Are given and are given in return.
Watching the sun set in Maui
Would be an unforgettable experience
But for now it remains as an
Instant snapshot of time and place
In present time zone’s past allowing
Visions of an everlasting
Memory bring a smile to my face
And peace in my heart
All in part due to the kindness of
A dear friend and his giving soul.
This in itself has been an
Amazingly wonderful experience.
Thank you for sharing with me
This beautiful sunset in Maui.

Thank you Jerry.

Premium Member Bouncing Toward Triumph

Bouncing up with gratitude
my heart leaps midst jubilant beat
rising to praise God* for His blessings
overtaking me this New Year.

Propelled by the Holy Ghost
my faith strides steadfastly
ascending along trust’s push
to triumph midst obstacles.

Advancing the Saviour’s kingdom
my spirit promotes righteousness
surmounting hatred with His forgiveness
gripped by love’s transforming drive.

Plunging in prayer to overcome gripping selfishness
my soul serves the Lord with His might
reaching-out to others in compassion
lifting the needy, propped by care’s zest.

Vanquishing skeptic doubts
my mind hurls negative thoughts
to prevail through Scriptures’ assurance
and zoom toward worship bliss.

Empowered by Christ Who leads
my life accelerates in His control
since He upholds me by His grace
hoisting me from sin-downfall.

*Psalm 86:12 I will praise thee, O Lord my God, with all my heart: and I will glorify thy name for evermore.

Premium Member Camelot Again?

I’m watching television, black and white, January 1961
A surge of expectancy in the populace, the dream
Kids in the White House, a buzz of activity
New president going to make his speech
Ask not what you’re country can do for you
Hope being restored, pride, respect
The New Frontier, vision, new ideals
                  Camelot
January 2009, plasma screen,
A surge of expectancy in the populace, the dream
Kids in the White House, a buzz of activity
New president will make his speech
Crossing lines, uncharted territory
Hope being restored, pride, respect
Intelligence replacing idiocy
Leadership overtaking greed
Apathy being destroyed, youth involvement

Premium Member The Sounds of Bliss

Your sigh is like the whisper of the wind.
How sweet its susurration in my ear.
I lie beneath your slender body pinned
with tenderness! You utter words sincere.

A river I’ve become because I feel
a flow of pleasure overtaking me
as all my inhibitions you now steal.
And like the brook nearby that I can see,
I’m feeling warm waves coursing through me too.
I murmur as I ripple with delight!
As sultrily you do those things you do,
we breathe more quickly, and our hearts take flight.

Low moans . . . the gasp! Was it yours or mine?
It matter not when bliss is this divine.

Premium Member Equus Poeticus Variabilis

I’m riding your horse, no giddyap allowed,
simply plunge into the deepest unknown.

Your voice sets the pace, it whispers
into the ears of my ride, sometimes they twitch

sometimes they find water, sometimes
the waterfalls absorb all thought. I lean

over neck, sample horse blood like a vampire,
like a computer’s command mode

taking over my brain, allowing my heart
to beat in tune, my feet to turn to hooves

and kick up or canter, moving with the rhythm
and flow, feeling the sweat of the sun

overhead and the damp of shady pines
and raking the grasses until they rustle over skin.

This is how I know you: the whisper on the wind
the stroke along my frame, the bed stead

in which I dream, the places of unimagined
like a lure, a bait, overtaking me, leading

me down a road I’ve never found
until you lent the movement of ride forever.

It's the future and it's here today, gonna change the way you drive
So come out the dark, reignite the spark and make your driving come alive

Tesla Tesla it's the best electric car
Tesla Tesla an hour's juice and you'll go far

If you're buying a new ve-hi-cle though you're really spoilt for choice
There is only one car that you want, so join with us and raise your voice

Tesla Tesla it's the best electric car
Tesla Tesla an hour's juice and you'll go far

Tesla's got no petrol engine so less element of risk
and the whole things whisper quiet, sounds just like an electric whisk

Tesla Tesla A to B without a sound
Tesla Tesla they won't hear you knock 'em down

Three hundred miles of driving pleasure when the battery's fully charged
And you get tons of free envelopes, 'coz your energy bills quite large

Tesla Tesla for the ultimate driving thrill
Tesla Tesla power output of Brazil

We have ironed out the problems folks, so it cannot be our fault
when overtaking buddies laugh at you when you car grinds to a halt

Tesla Tesla buy one now and knock 'em dead
But if you like the smell of gasolene get the new Mustang instead.

Japan, Land of Rising Son

Japan, land of rising SUN

Faced Natures devastation
Tsunami, earthquake obliterated cities
Lost all but not hope, maturity, sanity

Collective harmony, community first attitude
No honking, no mad overtaking; only understanding on jammed roads
No shoplifting when lights fused in malls

Mature media, compassionate humanity
No bloodcurdling visuals of chest beating or wild grief
No hypocrisy of help by Politicians

Well cultivated patience, doggedness to move on
Relief work, removal of debris, building roads at amazing speed
No mass scale panic on tanking of stocks, yen vulnerability

Cultured dignity, dignified grace
Disciplined queues for water, groceries, no chaotic scenes, squabbles
People buying to meet present need, so everybody could get something.

High moralistic Human values
Restaurants cut prices, no burglary at unguarded ATM
Plain speak on Nuclear threat levels

Japanese have done it before
Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings could only maim not rein
Tsunami and earthquake could only dissolve few cities not their resolve

Crisis handling, innate to Japanese
God gave volcanoes
They marshalled art of baking on it rather than getting charred

Japan, the land of rising SON

Thoughts from Beyond

It puffs and it phews
all night and day.
You must lie still.
No getting out to play.
Flesh, steel and motor,
three combined.
Does a young child think?
“An iron lung that’s all mine!”

Know this machine spoke of here?
Its shadow is my greatest fear.
Trapped inside you cannot breathe,
without its push to intercede.

An iron lung they call this thing.
In my past life, we met in Spring.
One warm May with moon aglow,
I ended up with polio.

Inside I lay for 13 days,
learning to breath by other ways.
And then I slipped, “across the bar,''
to varied plains or nearby star.

So now when I see this today,
a distant memory does give way,
the fearful overtaking power
of former lifetime’s painful hours.

A Vision

I see her pale white flowing gown,
her imagery, her frown,
her silver thinning hair,
her paper like wrinkled skin.

Feeling quite frightful,
but no overtaking fear,
of this vision floating through the air,
and not going in to despair.

Trying to awaken my consciousness,
for I must be comatosed,
surely I am not in the living world,
my head must be in the cloud's.

I wake up in a sweat,
not knowing what has just happened,
it all seems so surreal,
do I stand in judgement or appeal.

Piecing together my thought processes,
was it a dream or a reality,
wishing, thinking of my grandmother looking ocer me,
sending me a sense of peace and calm.

I will stay with that thought,
that beautiful vision,
of my grandmothers mission,
to deliver peace and harmony to a muddled head.
