Best Ounce Poems
– no rain falls from a melancholic sky –
beneath the willow’s tresses
in vain the widow grieves

EVERY OUNCE A MAN
Well, never climbed a mountain
but you can count on me to catch you
when you fall, after all, drank from the fountain,
so, thanks to you I am
every ounce a man.
Made love at midnight, fell in love by two,
in the middle of that sickness
thought of all the things I didn’t do.
Can’t rely on justice though I never
robbed a bank, but you I thank
I am every ounce a man.
When I was younger, I had such a hunger
for truth but now that I'm older
all that I wish for is youth
and the knowledge I’ve gained.
Maybe you don’t want my autograph
but at least I know who I am,
I’m every ounce a man.
Here comes the disclaimer; if I should offend,
my scirpo I defend, I had no intention
to imply a preference or apply any pressure
to comply to some hetero-code, no bravado.
Sum of experiences, part of the whole,
no matter who you are, the weight of your soul,
metrically speaking, twenty-one grams,
every ounce a man.
NOTES:
This style is called a "scirpo" (Italian for twist or weave) and is characterized by the irregular rhyme scheme (which includes internal rhyming), irregular line lengths and each new stanza gains an extra line.
Measuring just before and after death, Dr. McDougal weighed the human body and concluded that the soul weighs 21 grams, 3/4 of an ounce.
Pretty bright sunny day with birds singing,
turned stormy with big dark clouds,
AN OUNCE OF TEARS came out.

This Little Lady Is After My Own Heart
For No matter What She Does Wrong
Her Eyes Seem To Capture The One She Loves LOL
And Also One Of My Favorite Cartoons
A healing Heart will now depart to seek anew
the chance of start to make it right come
what may or might, but be well prepared if
you are smart! For you never know what Fate
bestows which can hit so hard with heavy
blows, lift you up, throw you down, or bless
you sweetly if it so chose...
fragrance of yesteryears distilled from heartache and joy
mixture of entropy and cohesion scented in hopeful aroma
sweat from wanderlust of adventure
tears from emotional advancement
blood of hard work’s injuries over time
fears contained and turned into vigour
petals ground into an effusion of love
a medley of rose-tinted lenses and reality’s patched spectacles
a truth serum of honesty kindness and unshakeable compassion
the knowledge that one’s perfume blends with compatible skin
smell of freedom to mind our souls
salve to soothe blisters and calluses
tincture of longing and tangible peace
composure of hard-won harmony at last
array of butterflies collecting honey dew
just like myself you had to endure the stench of past injustice
tribulations trials errors betrayal and displeasure of suffering
have been hurt by flavoured malodour of other’s transgressions
had the dubious benefit of having to turn up your nose to escape
stink fetour and mere existence in order to synthesize essence
balance of reason and heartfelt emotions
waiting for yin yang seeking a perfect fit
a mate best friend mirror spouse and lover
in sack cloth silk linen and satin sheets in a
bodouir graced by passion and pheromones
kisses of sweet pleasure rapture and satisfaction climax together
wet lips follow the path of mountains rivers splash and nurture
fan the flames in which fireside ashes mix with ember and warmth
in candour I have no magic potion until our perfumes merge into one
Does wearing a mask make you ill?
Are you a social distancing hater?
Then imagine how you'd feel
Being put on a ventilator

Ounce Of Hate
Miracle Man
11/3/2024
It takes an ounce of hate to ruin a person,
left unchecked, most always, we see it worsen.
Many that hate wonder where it got its start,
until hearing God’s whisper, it’s from the heart.
Hate isn't natural, but is something taught,
It’s things a child sees and hears, that causes fraught.
At early ages, children don't know right from wrong,
hate taught at an early age can be lifelong.
Stop hate at the source from which it always flows,
when Jesus cleans your heart hate no longer grows.
I've used up every last ounce
of energy I've got...
Comes a gentle knock on my ego
'No, you have not'
Salvation by the Ounce
David J Walker
Gold must be the stuff
Of which the Cup of Christ
is made of
Its value supererogatory
Its bearings veiled
It's content cryptic and obscure
Unknown to hunger
The clean men
In white shirts
are the anointed guides
Meditating and navigating
By starlight
While the beggar's cup is empty
Except for the noise of the street
His presence de trop
And holey ignored
Unless the cameras roll
Gold must be the stuff
Of which
the Cup of Christ is made of
Salvation measured by the ounce
One Ounce Of Water
One ounce of clean water
Lost in an endless ocean
The last of a million million gallons
Where are the fish who swam there?
Where are the plants that grew there?
Where is the blue waves?
What happened to them all?
Man emerged from and ancient slime
Grew to be an intelligent being
Rulers of the land and sea
They were so smart
They knew more than nature
They used their planet and wasted all
Now man is dead
The animals of the forest are dead
The life in the ocean all washed up on the shore
Trees last their leafs and died naked
All the life that made Earth a paradise
Gone because of man's ignorance
All that is left of the world man ruined
One ounce of clean water
Lost in an endless ocean
a letter gone unanswered
a phone call unreturned
miniscule the effort
prevents a friendship's ruin
Cinnamon dreams aren’t spun with sugar;
Far too spicy for an ounce of sweet,
they are swirled with a magical purr;
Hearing buttery speech you’ll infer
it’s much more than a sumptuous treat;
Cinnamon dreams aren’t spun with sugar;
Not too much glut is what you prefer;
On this diet you’re able to cheat,
they are swirled with a magical purr;
Somewhat of a high-end connoisseur,
their taste is on par with the elite;
Cinnamon dreams aren’t spun with sugar;
All natural, authentic, and pure
a label void of any deceit;
They are swirled with a magical purr;
Hit with a viral spike? Here’s the cure:
Keep it disarming and yet discreet.
Cinnamon dreams aren’t spun with sugar,
they are swirled with a magical purr.
The lady robot doesn’t take
Her birth controlling pill,
She knows it could be one mistake…
Untested drugs can kill.
She doesn’t want a deformed child,
With gears and wheels all out of place,
Or with three metal mouths that smiled
Upon its baby face.
An ounce,
Of compassion in practice,
Rates more than a ton of love
In theory, in God's eyes!
