Best Offer Poems
Writing talent is not judged by gender
although the sexes may often disagree
but we should never be an offender
when reading offered lines of poetry
Lines written by the hand of a gifted poet
make us contemplate their words in awe
so leave a comment, letting them know it
overlook what you might think is a flaw
How many smiles will you offer today
for the clever writings posted by a friend
by offering a rose or a sweet word bouquet
your kind thoughts will be a hand you extend
A concession of time for reading pleasure
a glimpse within a poet's heart and soul
To those who read, please leave a measure
letting them know, "I read you and extol"

I can't promise you forever
For it's not mine to give
Today is what I offer you
For as long as I shall live
I can't promise you I'm worth it
For it's you that must decide
My love is what I offer you
And all I have inside
I can't promise you your hopes and dreams
For they're yours to make come true
My devotion is what I offer you
To always help you through
I can't promise you no heartaches
For the good comes with the bad
Understanding is what I offer you
Through the happy times and sad
I can't promise you you'll love me
'Til they bury me six feet deep
Commitment is what I offer you
For my love is yours to keep

All that I can offer, are my prayers,
and my tears,
For comfort, and healing...
Oh surely,
God hears.
This blood-stained sphere in heaven's view
Behold, one day....
He'll make all things new.
A new dawn, One day,
War will cease
He'll reign as King, there will be peace.
For now, I bid Thee, Father of all
Draw nigh with healing,
To those who call
Upon Your mercy,
With hearts that break, We pray for peace
For goodness' sake.
Tabernacle in my heart,
I've not but tears and prayers...
My part.....
Please lift our prayers,
Within Your Hands
We pray Your Peace
Upon Your Lands
Amen

All I Can Offer Is
to feel the beat
of her faltering heart;
to hear her fits of grief;
to heed her voice of sorrow;
to rail with her at life’s thief;
to hold
her candle
in its flutter;
to sit with her;
not one word utter.

I was driving down Webb road, with the thoughts I’ve had all week,
And that is upon the crayfish that I net in Shady Creek,
Webb road is not a long one, but it’s narrow and it winds,
And scrub that’s clinging to the edge is thick and often blinds.
That’s why I guess a cat is squashed upon the edging of the road,
Because pedestrians don’t stand a chance with cars in travelling mode
Where they fly around the corners at a speed that’s way too fast,
But who cares about a flattened cat when they are driving past.
When I parked me car beside the bridge, with the Shady flowing under,
I thought about the lifeless cat, and how I could have made a blunder,
The bait I have is mainly bone, with bits of meat to lure me prey,
When knowing that the meat of cats, is loved better by a cray.
I laid me nets out on the grass, while in me mind there is debate,
Should I use the bones or take a drive, and grab the better bait.
It will take a short ten minutes; therefore the cat will bear the load,
So I’m changing gears back in me car, when driving down Webb road.
With the cat upon me mind, and driving past a farmers home,
The last thing that I expected was a rooster on the roam,
I felt the bird go underneath, and through my mirror at the rear,
All I could see was flying feathers and the Rooster on its ear.
That buggered up me day alright, I’m fishing on this farmer’s place,
He’ll probably mention ‘shot gun’ when I tell him face to face,
So apprehensively I tapped his door and when he stood in front of me,
I said “I’ve got news you will not like. Your rooster’s a fatality”.
He stared at me with misty eyes; I thought he found it hard to face it,
So I shrugged me shoulders and I said, “Look, allow me to replace it”.
I was nervous waiting his response, and then he threw me right off track…
When he shrugged and answered, “Suit yourself. The chooks are ‘round the back”.

They say you applied
Did you apply or they applied
For you? Now they have supplied.
But have conveniently forgotten
To supply you with the vital kitten
That should take you to their kitchen.
You are mired in grave job frustration
You can`t bother of their company registration
You see nothing but your future jubilation.
Think deeper. Is there something dodgy or straight?
If it`s straight where is their contact info or website?
For all what they are worth, they could be fake
Wait a minute. Your little money they seek to take.
Look for signs of legitimacy. You are wondering?
They want you to be their money laundering….
What? –Mule! Let them do their ‘philandering’.
They mess around on their poor scam spam road
Com`on someone, give me something? A big rod!
Let`s smash them into pulp till they yell, Lord!

Don't stop me now... I'm on a roll
The words are literally flying out of my brain
I can't type fast enough... need a secretary
Any offers? Payment will be in the form of hugs
Uh! No worries... everything will be proper
(Actually I can't promise that... but I'll give it my best shot!)
One thing I CAN promise though...
If those of the male persuasion apply and I hire one
Payment in the form of a hand shake
And will apply in lieu of a hug
But I'll accompany that with a wink and a smile!
There are side benefits for the ladies in addition to the hugs
The ladies will also receive a bouquet of red roses
At the end of this contract
And a pat on the bum... oops, scratch that!
Not their bums, silly!
Now that I've gained your confidence
That I will conduct this in a very business like manner (???)
I'll be accepting resumes at jackshouseofillrepute@gmail.com
Offer expires January 30th 2015!

Narrative
I wish we could
sit in a soft field
of flowers and bask
in the sun on our
faces-I'd do it alone and
think of you and what
you would say in the
inspiritational message-
the sharing in the simplicity,
in the humaness of the
moment-in the sheer
joy to be in a warm
place---safe for a moment.
I can set up the scene,
the characters, the dialogue,
We will not live forever,
Lost time in a debit,
account held against
small core savings.
In the end will it be
"enough" that we--I -tried?
Will there be credit for
the tenacity? Or are we
selling finely carved and
cheap plastic security?

Don’t offer me a prescription.
For my problems or my pain
Just let me take my shoes off
And go walking in the rain
Don’t give me no advice
From your theories obsolete
Just let me feel the “BIG BANG”
From my head down to my feet
Don’t share with me your "TALL TALES"
About how you survived the night
Just let me say at the end of the day
That “I'M REALLY DOING ALRIGHT”

I offer you an onion,
Instead of an apple,
That's all what I can offer you,
For the time being,
I can tell you now,
And reveal what's in the parcel,
Do not get excited, do not expect,
I don't want you to have the shock and the effect,
Do not get moved by the red-shiny ribbon,
It is not a branded one,
It is my work, my humble creation,
It is my art if you say so,
It is my imagination,
It is the thought...The sign which counts,
They say...
You knew well that I was what I’m...
I’m an empty garden that can grow,
Only modest things,
Basic things, Poor things,
I don't know when and where,
I get my beloved one, a rosy apple,
The life apple as they say,
I wonder when and when my star will shine again,
And enlightens the fields,
And brings back the smile, the joy and the fun,
That once was,
I still remember,
I still recall,
The lilies, the blue-bells,
The mimosas, the chamomiles..
The lemon...the apple-trees and all,
The various fruits in abundance,
But all that was the past,
Gone with dust,
Please be patient,
And ask your heart to wait,
For the next promising spring,
May be it will be my destiny and fate,
To get you more than an apple,
As my beloved wishes,
Or maybe it will be very late,
For me, for you, or for us both to topple,
This poverty-mine monotony system!
But for the time being,
Accept this humble dried onion,
I’m a barren field,
That produces only rocks,
And nothing else....

In order for us to redeem the time we need to give God our best
and be willing to do all He asks as proof of where our faith rests
as it's not about how much you've given but has your faith been consistent
in offering all you have to God with a loving persistence
to be thankful when receiving any and all blessings that come from God
and responsible when you get them and holding them in the highest regards
but to offer anything to God that costs you nothing at all
is the difference between true sacrifice and just giving a lip call
for it's not about just talking the talk, it's about being willing to walk the walk
what motivates us? and what is in our hearts?
are two of the things that most concern our Lord God
to be about giving God your best, as He's the only one whom you need to address
there will be times of difficult instructions when you choose to follow His commands
there will be some hard choices to make that you may never come to understand
yes God will test you to determine your faithful resolve
but if you place your trust in Him some mysteries in your life may be solved
and when making a burnt offering to God it needs to be free and whole
coming from one's heart with the surrendering of one's soul
so never offer God anything that costs you nothing to give
remember it's only by His grace and mercy that you even live
Abraham was so faithful to God he was willing to offer his only son
his hope for the future, his heritage, his legacy now under the gun
about to slay his only son until the Angel of God appeared
and told him, "don't touch that child", for we know of God you now fear
he was willing to make the sacrifice and give all that from him God desired
no matter how hard, no matter how difficult to follow the instructions God inspired
hand God your hands and let Him have control
adhere to God's plans and surrender to Him your soul
trusting in what He instructs you to do
believing His blessings will then rain down on you
God has much in store for us when we follow His instructions
and will supply all our needs with His providential productions
His word is the pathway to promise and the roadway to righteousness
His love is the gateway to glory and the highway to holiness
so don't offer God anything that costs you nothing in life
for He made the greatest offer to you with the crucifixion of His son Jesus Christ

Dramatic Monologue
I gave you a piece of me,
This doesn’t make you,
Necessarily a cannibal
I missed that piece all of a sudden,
I tried to take it back,
But you had it already in your stomach,
And dumb happiness reflected on your face.
I felt suddenly sad,
I’d lost a piece of me,
But weirdly I felt heaviness,
Instead of lawfully released.
You surprised me with a smile,
And a piece of you offered in gift,
I had no place for it,
So,
I pained deep inside my bones,
Cried out this was a mistake,
Ran away,
Crippled, cold and all alone,
No magic trio in this story,
Right place, right person, right time
Just a single revelation instead,
I offered a wrong piece of myself.

I’ve been single for all of my life,
But not because I wanted to be.
I’ve always wanted to be a wife,
But it just hasn’t happened for me.
I look at others who are married
And often wonder how they got there.
It’s not that I have to be carried,
But I do want someone who will care.
What do I have to offer someone?
That’s a question that should have no doubt.
I am good enough for anyone,
A good person, inside and out.
