Three Messengers

This morning I hiked a wooded trail
And while quietly strolling along,
I was pleased to hear a lonely quail
A singing his mournful song.

And then again this afternoon
While drawing water from the well
A loon began it's soothing croon
That echoed 'cross the dell.

And in the evening as I dined
While resting in the swing
A mockingbird was very kind
To perch close by and sing.

Then later, as I knelt to pray
In telling God, "I love You"
That, I wished to hear Him say
Just once, He loved me too.

Then Father spoke! "Don't you know?
My son of course I love you too!
I sent couriers today to tell you so
Did my three messengers not find you?"

Premium Member Busy Birds

There are many birds that gather
In my yard all through the year.
However, there is one I favor.
I wait for her to reappear.
You'll not find her at the feeder,
Like the others on the dole.
I think her mama taught her
Self sufficiency is the goal.
She and her faithful hubby
(Oh how that guy is trained)
Have come back to their love nest,
On my porch where it remained.
She showed him how to mend it
And he worked hard at his task.
Aything at all she wanted,
All she need to do was ask.
Their nest abuts the ceiling,
I bump my head before I see
If the little ones have hatched yet,
But if not they soon will be.
Once here, their mouths will open
And will never close again
Until they're big as their own parents,
But they're never offered grain.
No, it's bugs and bugs and more bugs.
They keep Mom and Daddy hopping.
She tells him they have mouths to feed.
There is no time for stopping.
While he is gathering the food,
She's shoving it into them
And passes him when he returns
From committing insect mayhem.
Now Daddy gets the job of feeding
While Mama's on the hunt.
In this nest of well fed children
You will never find a runt.
She grabs all of the mosquitos
That her little beak can hold.
Her mate is going out for more,
She doesn't have to scold.
You will not find better parents,
Human ones or otherwise,
Than these precious little swallows,
With a love that's supersize.
You would think they would be happy
When these youngsters leave the nest,
But they start another family
Busy swallows never rest.
Any villainous mosquito
Won't have a chance to do me harm
While these persisting swallows
Have a nest on my old farm

Premium Member Remembering Willow Pond

Born of winter's snow and gentle spring rain
Remembering Willow Pond, where our dreams begin
Where wild geese swim, then fly away again
Beneath shaded coves, where other lovers have been

The fragrant smell of earth, green moss and peat
Where tangled grass and weeping willows lean
A crumbling bank, where cattails wash their feet
Our blanket spread upon the meadow green

Our campfire glows, playing flirting games
Ashes drift like feathers, smoke curls into the air
Burning embers, teasing flickering flames
And love smolders warm, a kiss in the evening fair

Trees sway and swoon along the bank
Leaves flutter in gentle evening wind
With each breath of warm summer breeze
It brushes my cheek, as daylight ends

Willow pond, the place where love came alive
We loved....under the stars of the twilight skies

Signs of Love

As the wind blows and you feel it caress your face, think of my love wrapped in
a kiss, gently touching your cheek
When you see a butterfly, think of my free spirit gliding by just to say hello
When the sun is shining bright and you feel its warmth all through your body, it
is my love wrapping itself around you
As the rain begins to fall, each drop that you feel is like a tear that I cry for
missing you
As the days pass so quickly, I am left wondering if the only way you will know
my love, is by the signs of nature;
or will you know my touch and my kiss as well as my warmth and the beauty of
my spirit, because you are holding me close in your arms?

Sugarcane Butterflies

Sugarcane Butterflies

Over the tarred road lies a land we seldom search
of whispering winds through sugarcane hills,
spills of sunlight chilled on butterfly wings
carrying me graciously through the open space
as my heart’s bass beats to the insects sound...
the freedom of the hills is unbound, wild
like the sunflower’s yellow to the sky
trickled water marks over the dry stream bed
out here...
even the dead is still alive.
Sugarcane butterflies of mad colours bristle
through the breeze that whistles around my limbs
as whims of flying invade my soul...
persuade my heart to melt out into the day
and rediscover what it is to play...without dwell
Earth’s love swells and grows my mind,
finds that sparkle that finds my smile
as I am left fertile in the land that surrounds.
Noises of the tarred road are drowned by the depth,
by the breath of the tree leaves that rustle,
the birds that bustle about the deep, green valley,
vitality, out here, is rich like pure honey without dime
 just life...
just time existing as it should
could this be magic misunderstood.
Sugarcane butterflies...
you make me love more.

Counting My Blessings

All that I have I am grateful for
all that I want is just greed,
upon counting my blessings I find
I have everything that I need.

Making somebody smile is amazing
giving my love is a pleasure,
being needed is always an honour
and receiving love is a treasure.

Life is all about friendship
if you're down and don't know what to do,
and you can't find someone to help
talk to someone worse off than you.

We all have our share of heartaches
blame each other for causing the pain,
but usually when we get through it
we find there is something we gain.

If God gave the gift of life
and nature provided the rest,
the least we can do is be thankful
or at least try our very best.

When There Is Time

When there is time...look at the trees.
...listen for the gentle rustling of the leaves.
                           ...notice the green.
...think of the small seed they had once been.

When there is time...look at the birds on the wing.
...watch them as they come north in the Spring.
...catch their fluttering as they awake to the dawn.
...quietly listen to their joyful song.

When there is time...watch for the sun's arisen'.
...be mindful of its glow as it greets the horizon.
...rise to see this glorious sight.
...awaken early to the new day's light.

When there is time...have a drink of water, oh so cool.
...think of how far it had to travel to you from its pool.
                           ...savor its life giving taste.
                           ...drink slowly, making no haste.

When there is time...feel the love that has been given to you.
...tell your family that you love them, too.

Is there enough time...to recognize all of God's handiwork given to us?
Ever the time is now ...to thank Him for all life, so beautiful and precious.

Rain

Oh! how i love the rain
to watch it's beauty
fall from above
like the tears of angels
washing away the scars of yesterday
it's always the same
TRUTHFUL
POETIC
STEADY

It can be gentle
like a first kiss
or angry, as a last goodbye
it never gets lonely
always consistant
DRIZZLING
POURING
POUNDING

What beauty!
those countless tears
awkwardly falling
from the face of a bashful sky
i love the rain
PURE
PASSIONATE
CLEAN
UNASSUMING...

The Sea and I

intangible
homeless
a nonentity
prowling
roaming
almost invisible when I am tired
all too obvious when I am angry
i can be gentle
i can be boisterous
i constantly frustrate
i ignore you when you call me
i come rushing when you don’t
i get tired of playing on my own in the mountains
i get tired of kicking up a storm in the deserts
i love to dance
i love to sway with the trees
i love to chase the clouds
but most of all i love to play with you
for you are my spirited soul mate
you enjoy my rough caresses
you swell to my touch and throw me salty kisses
we twist and coil in passionate embrace
before landing exhausted on the soft sand of unsuspecting beaches
sometimes i make you boil
sometimes you send me into a spin
but wherever else i am in this world
i can always taste your briny breath
and always yearn for your buoyant company

Premium Member Sunlight of Gold

Sunlight of gold
Dancing on the water
Of the slow paced
River where swans

Swim, get nourished
Play, where the swans
Form a heart when
Their heads touch

External sign of love
Mated for entire life
If one dies the other
Despairs, grief stricken

May love again
But possibly die from grief
Committed love contained
Why can't people watch birds
And do the same

My blood sugar drops./ No longer in tip top shape. In a dazed state, I underrate the truth in
every word./ I wish my song was as beautiful as that of a birds./ And my connection to the
earth, was as strong as that of a worms./ We live our lives afraid of germs: microscopic
beings we can't disturb./ Unable to control that which is not seen./ Irradiating the seeds to
everything green, so that when the heart of a child sings, they won't know what it means./
They've been transformed into spritually impaired sentient beings. In love with superficial
things./ Blinded by the idea that love resides in a pair of expensive gold rings./ Deaf to the
lullaby that mother earth sings.

Golden Corn

Walk the ears of golden corn
This dewy bright angelic dawn
Let the suns rays beat on me
About this heart be revelry

Let the fragrance fill my mind
And natures love to be so kind
The mood that sunbeams bring
This my realm and I'd be king

And I would rule this yellow bed
Peace would flow and love be fed
And you lady would be my Queen
Beating hearts would reign serene

Golden corn, golden hearts
The moon calls, sun departs
All about now gently sleeps
Ears of corn our secret keeps

Our Planet

Who does not love smiling
butter-flies
Flapping their wings against
clear skies
Who does not love the sight
of green
Oozing with freshness so
rarely seen!
A fellow who ignores the
colourful ambience
Might be blind,insane or
sans his sense..
The beauty of the falling
showers
& the fragnance of the lovely
flowers
Are Nature's genuine and
priceless gifts
The one who differs has lost
his wits!
Let us cherish these
bounties,feel their value;
Treasure our planet & protect
it too
