As I lie amongst wildflowers
beneath the butterfly weeds,
you pondered, through my mind
as you often do,

delicately fragile
essence bursting free
eccentric, dazzling colours
deteriorating, slight physique ~

weakening petals withered
mournful harps serenade,
sensing your soul has departed
in sorrow, I feel your peace

as I lie amongst wildflowers,
beneath the butterfly weeds
you pondered through...

Premium Member Rain's Mournful Song
Wrathful tears ripen shame
and sows conscience-stricken seeds of self-loathing.
Scourged by the storm’s desolate dirge
this flimsy canopy offers no protection
as the wind-driven rain rides roughshod over me.

Haiku 5 - Mournful Cries, Way of Nature, Flight Into Eternity
mournful cries fill the air
mother bird calling for its baby
eaten by the cat

mantis catches butterfly
I am sad: yet, that is
the way of nature

loud feathered thud
- flight into eternity
deceptive glass pane...

Mournful warning cry
travels across the cold sea....
quick, look out, watch close

From within the fog
beacon of life in the night....
guide to safe harbor

Premium Member Night of the Mournful Wolf
as fog comes creeping
a wind screams through the graveyard. . .
the night frightened white

leaves on ground scatter
around unremembered graves. . .
the shivering trees

high above the mist
and cemetery tombstones. . .
moon hides its fullness

digging at one grave
the coffin in fresh deep ground. . ....

As a fine mist you disappeared a day
Returning to the world of the souls
Leaving a deep and heart felt pain

A smile hides sometimes
The deep feelings of the soul
Hidden from outside
With a transparent armor
Covering like a black veil

Mournful, Residual Toll
Lamp shade shrouds my blanched soul
Dimming, residual light o'er weary heart doth roll
Flickering memories cloud my intellectual pole
Obscure shadows flutter through subconscious pinhole
Dusk, fading hope through my restive spirit doth stroll
Encroaching darkness shutters my resolve; my psyche doth patrol
Murky thoughts leaf through my sensory scroll
Shimmering...

Mournful Clouds
Playful serpents of lightning
With twin tongues sparkling
Into the dark caves of clouds
In their hide’n seek marbling

Anger some heat they sending
Lo! All soft clouds thus forcing
To melt shy, rich’n cool hearts
Into the soul of earth a pouring

And like those gloomy lovers
Wander into greens’n bowers
Restless without their...

Mournful Dirge
Why have you disappeared?
It's like all of my limbs have been sheared.
The world has now fallen away
And I let out a pitiful bay
The pain is like no other
And my mind threatens to smother

The world moves on without delay
As if you were not mislaid today
Many move...

A Mournful Tune
Spring, do you not see your cross,
in autumns leaves, winters frost?

In youth we play with life,
forgetful that it is rife
with misery. The tragedy
is seeing it take hold.
Body young, spirit old.
Skin wearing off bones.

Hands wrinkled, hair grey,
betrayed...

Caught up in a mournful and jumbled montage
It's an exhausting malicious barrage
Just shards of a sordid side show collage
Our sweet smiles are transparent camouflage
For your aching ego there's no massage
So now park it in a soundproof garage
And join your noble leader's entourage
Chant blue, red or...

Premium Member Queen Elizabeth Ii
Queen Elizabeth the Second passed
leaving the World in a mournful state.
How can this be--one who's so steadfast.
She tempered Britain's every fate.

Barely a bride on her honeymoon,
she learned her father, the King, had died.
Her life changed, becoming Queen so soon,
honeymoon left, that life set aside.

For seventy...
