Premium Member MY FEARS

When four, I knew my soul had claustrophobia in it.
More than once it has caused me public panic fits.
Once, I declined a job located in a super high rise
for fear it would sway or rock me to an awful demise.
As cures I plan no coffin, avoid full planes, tight spaces,
roof edges and elevators with terrifying glass faces.

Often before sleep, I think the devil visits from hell.
He attempts to solidify my fears of sorrow that dwell
on my Mother’s death which is a normal eventuality
and my treasured love’s death which none can foresee.
I can bid the devil to depart back to dark fairly easily;
changing my head's channel often works as a remedy.

But I cannot grasp, shake, rationalize or compromise make
a fear that causes my angst to quake, my emotions to break.
I turn to God in constant prayer, seeking my answer there.
I ask God for His soothing and a solution He will share.
Thoughts of my challenged son’s life after I am gone
grow my despair and tears from the worry they spawn.

Who will hug him good night and then again each dawn?
Who will love him to ensure his self-value dwells on?
He will need a loving touch and acceptance to lean on.
I fear and hurt, knowing such blessings are not foregone.
I would rather be sealed in a coffin on a roof way high
than my precious one be love abandoned after I die.

Lucky To Be Me

Life it can be complicated,
cruel and unkind.
Why does it have to be like that?
The answers I can’t seem to find.

Some days I feel hard done to,
Downtrodden, my life’s unfair.
Then I take a good look around,
And realise I shouldn’t despair.

My life’s not perfect but who’s life is?
I know that grateful I should be.
Give me health and happiness,
Any day over being wealthy.

I have 3 healthy beautiful children,
A mother whom I adore,
A bunch of other lovely relatives,
My husband, a few friends, who needs more?

Yes we have no spare cash,
But we have house over our head.
Yes we work very hard for what we have,
But we rest every night in a bed.

Our loved ones are mainly healthy,
Managing to live out a good life.
Not going through what others have been,
Never knowing their losses and strife.

Some people they aren’t half as lucky,
They face struggles I’ve never known.
I can’t imagine having to sleep in a box,
And calling that box my home.

Some people are born into poverty,
Having to beg to get anything to eat.
out in the freezing cold weather,
In doorways they take their seat.

Now can we just think about sickness.
The best we can have is our health.
As without that we have nothing,
Its truly a poor mans wealth.

Don’t get me started on abuse.
The victims who’ve experienced the pain.
I can never begin to imagine,
How they can ever rebuild their lives again.

Those soldiers who have been to war,
Who’ve seen images more than horrific.
With little help when they return,
They need something soporific.

So now I feel bad for feeling down,
I have no reason to be glum.
Because in fact, I have an amazing life,
And the best part is being a Mum.

The Beat of a Mother's Heart

How can a mother let go of her precious child
A child she carried, cuddled, and corrected when wild
A child who taught her how to love as a mother
And how to how hold a torch of Light like no other

This child taught this mother that her love is deeper, wider, and more intense
Than she could have ever thought, ever imagined, or ever begun to sense
Her love continues and grows as vast as the wind blows and it even goes
Beyond human reason, especially when in the face of hardships or foes

Loving my child has challenged me, changed me, and chiseled and shaped me
By stretching me, bending me, turning me, and twisting me
In ways that have made me strong and weak simultaneously and have constantly
Kept me on the tips of my toes and kneeling down on my knees, praying fervently

No. A mother really can never ever part
With a child who is the beat of her heart
Who she would gladly go before God for
Who she prays to share with in the glories of Heaven forevermore!

Wake Me Up

A plea of the unborn child to its mother.

Wake Me Up

When the time is ripe, awaken me!
I long to see your world.
How many blessings there will be;
They're soon to be unfurled!
I'll see you with my eager eyes,
Your soothing voice I'll hear.
One day I'll thank Jehovah God
that you have kept me near.

I want to grasp your finger, please,
and feel your warm embrace.
I want to heartily reflect
the smile upon your face.
I want to learn to walk and talk
and say my ABC's.
I want to learn of animals
and count my 123's.

I'll learn these things if you teach me,
yes, I will learn them so.
I'll hug you tightly every day
and never let you go.

I'll need your comfort when I cry;
At times, life can be rough.
However, I think you will find
Your love will be enough.
In fact, I'll bring you days of joy
where you are feeling pain,
and just as you have cared for me,
You'll see me do the same.

When time is ripe, please, let me live;
I want to wake up too!
I want to live a joyful life.
I want to cherish you.
Please wake me up when time has come.
Please don't send me away.
A precious gift you now possess
Miraculous each day!

I have heard
From the very wise,
That In the smile of a child,
You can see the vision of divinity.
In the innocence of those eyes,
Are the essence of serenity.
In their loving cuddles,
You feel God’s embrace....
So I ask
Should I pray to my Lord
Or play with my child?

And they say-
The sound of Child’s laughter
Can bring joys of the morning birds!
Their toddling little feet echo the rhythm of the herds!
So I ask
Should I seek God in his creation
Or in the joys of my child?

Later in bed, at slumber’s door
I wrestled with doubts, no more!
the soft gentle breathing next to me,
Had calmness and peace
Of the deep blue sea.
A quiet prayer, I whispered, to the Lord,
And slept,
My child in my arms,
feeling God close to me.

A Mother's Tears

How many tears does a mother cry?
I think too many for anyone to count.
A mother cries when her child is born.
She cries of joy, because now she has
someone to love and someone to hold.

When that child gets sick, a mother cries
until that child gets better, that aliviates
her heart. When that child grows up and
goes wrong, a mother cries tears that come
from the soul and heart.

Does a mother ever stop crying? No - a
mother will cry through out her life. She
will cry for that child that has gone worng.
A mother always wants the best for her
child. Sometimes it dosn't happen and a
mother cries in silence.

Her soul is wet from tears that fell like rain.
She has no rest night or day. Sometimes a
mother cries of joy too. She wants to die
before her child, if not - a mother will cry
more tears until she leaves this world. This
time - she has no more tears.

A Mother's Prayer For Her Daughter

I want my child to be like me, in every single way,
No, I want my child to enjoy her youth and scream and jump and play,
I want her to defend herself in walk, in talk, in stance,
But I want her to defend herself without using her hands,
My child, I want her to be smart like me, so she can control her heart,
Let no man come and insult her intelligence and then take her apart,
I want her to be strong and brave so she can face hard times,
But I don’t want her to be afraid to cry at any time,
I want my child, my only child to live a holy life,
Not wallow in incertitude until the day she dies,
Dear God, I know this is too much, but please just grant me this,
I want my child, my precious child to be the very best there is.

ÀBÍKÚ

                   Àbíkú,
    This is the 21st century,
     Going and coming isn’t
                a game,
Nor does it give you fame.
                 Àbíkú,
     Please come no more
   Mother’s breast is already
         thick like an iron
Every tears we dropped, the
               land sucks
              Father said;
Dear Àbíkú I’ve got no farm
           to harvest yam,
I sold it all to always keep
              you alive.
This is your sixteenth death,
  all my royal chevrons are
                 tattered
Come and stay as a female,
 so you understands mothers
                    pain.
             Why Àbíkú?
Why do you chose us as
               your prey?
  Àbíkú, the son of Dúrójayé
Forgive our wrongs and make
        your home "Ilé Ayé".

Mother-Child

"I don't possess what I deserve,
Some one got it easily enough;
Should I not cry ma, should I not cry?"
"Cry my dear, if that's all it takes
to succeed, but do think again,
Can Envying get you one's fortune?
Effort that could help you achieve,
is instead wasted like your tears."

"I will not help anyone anymore,
I'm not lent a hand in return;
Should I not help ma, should I not help?"
"Don't help dear, End up punishing
one for the thanklessness of another.
Help, to bail out someone today
And not to secure yourself tomorrow."

"I could not accomplish my dream,
Attempted again but to no avail;
Shud I not give up ma, shud I not give up?"
"Give up dear, if triumph without trial
Is how you expect it to be,
Your struggle infact is the foundation,
On which shall evolve some day
a gleaming structure of your success."

" I'll heed your advice for sure
Toil harder but will not surrender,
Will I then be happy ma, will I then be happy?"
"Ofcourse my dear, it's everlasting joy
When you sculpt your own success,
When your help brings upon a smile,
When dreams once envied by you,
With sheer persistence do come true."

What Is a Mother?

Mothers stay up late when
Their kids can’t sleep..
A mother’s affection
Will always run deep.

A mother silently watches
Her child asleep in their bed.
She looks back on her life before she
Was a mother and her soul was dead.

How could she have been so lucky
To get this precious angel?
Knowing that if anyone hurts her baby
They are sure to be mangled.

A mother’s heart swells with pride
As her baby takes her first step.
When a child says “ I love you Mommy”,"
It was so emotional she wept.

To know that she is a parent
Is her greatest title.
Hoping that her child will be
Someone that others will idol.

A mother caresses her child’s
Face when she has been crying.
A mother comforts her child
When her grandmother is dying.

A mother hopes she’ll be
As great as her own mother.
She hopes she won’t fail
And be like the others.

A mother protects her child when she
Caught a tennis ball with her face.
And beating her step-son
Was definitely not a waste.

A mother sneaks down a phone when
Her child is unjustly grounded.
A mother makes damn sure when her
Husband insults her daughter he is fiercely pounded.

A mother looks over her mom
Perming her child’s hair late at night.
She pretends she doesn’t see her
Hiding so there won’t be a fight.

A mother comes to her child’s aid in her
Time of need when her own child is sick.
A mother cries when her father dies at the
Same time and she is forced to pick.

Does she go home and bury her father?
Or does she stay and comfort her child?
The fact that she’s put in this position
Is nothing short of wild.

A mother lets her child and her best friend
Plus their kids move back home.
Living eight hours away while her grandson
Is sick, she might as well have lived in Rome.

A mother comes to visit her sick
Grandson after a hard day’s work.
A mother comforts her daughter
When stress and chaos lurks.

A mother loves her children
No matter what the future holds.
Whether it’s life or death or
Runny noses from their colds.

A mother loves her daughter
In spite of all the troubles and tattoos.
A mother loves her daughter
In spite of their difference in views.

A mother loves her child
No matter what they do.
The feeling is mutual and
Mother, I really do love you.

Mothers Day

Mother is born when her child arrives
One who has your back without compromise
Tenderly nurtures your needs and your likes
Heartfelt concern when adversity strikes
Each child holds a key to her unselfish heart
Relentless defender right from the start
Steadfast devotion in excess supply

Deserving a day of her own, this is why
A celebration of thanks for her love unsurpassed
You share the hope of tomorrow and dreams of the past.

Broken Home

she came from a broken home
where the parents at each other
would throw stones.
every day they would argue, bicker
and fight, all the way till the night.
not realizing their Childs plight.
the child to them in turn would scream
but in the battle she was not seen.
from her father she had sexual abuse
fighting with him, was of no use.
he forced himself upon her at a very young age
from there on, her life would never be the same.
living in fear of what he would do
and who she could turn to.
where could she go
the judicial system moves very slow.
when she had told her mother.
her mother said it could never be
why would he go with you
when he has me?
she knew then, that she would have to leave
and with her being gone, no one would grieve.
she would pack her bags, with everything
she owned, and on the road she would go.
with tears in her eyes, she walked out
the door, to return never more.
and as she got to the swinging gate
her mother screamed to her
but it was too late.
on her dresser bureau, her mother found this note.
you gave birth to me, and brought me
into this world, and you had always said
that I was your little girl.
but when I told you what had happened to me
you laughed and turned your back on me.
so now I am leaving, because I can not
continue this abuse, don't look for me, it will be of no use.
I love you mom, or you are my mother
just watch out for my little brother.
I am a child from a broken home
and I know that I’m not alone.

A Child Lost

A child is brought into this wondrous world
And your heart it sings with unbelievable joy
A child born unto you to hold close to your breast
Your babe to feed, nourish and provide with your all
A child, within moments, so eager to learn everything
So able to trust, eager to love, and filled with song
Dancing by your side to their own special tune
Love and protect them with your life, if you must
Do not let them know the beasts of this world
Their innocent pure heart, keep it safe and beautiful
And if one tragic day your child should ever leave you
Thank God for the having, for the loving that was
And know your child is in a safe place in God’s care
Waiting to whisper, “Oh Mother, my Mother I love you so!”

Premium Member Wonder Awaits

A pink flower to smell, watch a red ball bounce, see
a clown, a puppy to embrace, a mother's smile.
A child laughs at each new discovery--all a mystery
To see the world through a child's eyes
would be like looking through an unchipped
glass and suddenly see ourselves before
we became time-worn and world-wise.
A new lesson we'd learn daily, canceling
those tired tries. Everyone would be a friend,
even a tiny, interesting bug: no exceptions.
Think about this: a child assumes the world
is wonderful and wants to give it a hug; while
we've become complacent and accept wonder
with a shrug.

                  enchantment is seen
through the eyes of the children
                  we should open ours

Simple.

A man sits on a mower
in the park
making lines and circles
in freshly cut grass.

And-
Two mothers
are pushing
a child each on a swing,
opposite directions.
They talk
as their children go up
and down.
