Mixed Emotions

It happened at the wrong time
But what happened was beautiful
I denied it for a long while
Never wanted to fall victim to it
But when I realized what it was
I never wanted to let go of it
It made me feel whole again
It made me want to do more
It made me believe I could do anything
If only there was more time
I could have become accustomed to it
I could have known how to deal with it
I surely hope I have not lost this
I do not want to be without it
I don’t know what I would do without it
I hope I can deal without it
I want to feel this way forever
I want to hold on to every memory
Just to be able to go back in time
And relive every precious moment
Give myself hope that it will be there
That the future holds more of this
And I will become stronger by this.

Mixed Emotions

Today is my Birthday
I should be okay

But, 3 years ago you went away
Being my Dad I wanted you to stay,

It is Happy and Sad on this day
Now you are gone what can I say,

I smile and tell myself I'm okay
But, deep inside I am in dismay,

I feel torn on how I may
Should be feeling and in what way,

So I try to be happy and not stray
That yes it is my Birthday and it is the day God took you away.

Where is here?
I feel their emotions burdening the ATMOSPHERE.
I am spinning in it.
Thicker than mud.
Was it BRICK COSTUD?
What were the emotions of the people surrounding me?
Some were in heated denial.
Who else would suppress a smile?
BAM!! DAMN!!
Noxious city air as day fades away to night.
People making casual friends and laughing at
Half FUNNY jokes.
Where are the finer things in life?

Mixed Emotions

I hear by now say that thine self is fed up honey.
       Done,
       Distraught--
       Finished.
5 And with everything going on, my community is fed up with me.
Our pain is intertwined like an apple growing on a tree,
Waiting for the right time to fall.
        Then I begin to think--
        Have we already fallen?
10 Fallen into a deep sea of unrelieved pain, drowning from our own tears.
Forced under by the whirlpool of life, that we thought would make us happy.
       But I am happy right?
Or am I sad and angered?
Maybe i’m confused and just down right tired.
15 So many emotions that I feel and can’t understand,
Because their mixed, but not one.
I can’t deal with all of these emotions anymore,
Instead of growing up I want to grow down,
And be 6 all over again.
20 In Big Mama’s house sitting at the table,
      Eating buttermilk biscuits,
and drinking coffee the color that resembled a gloomy shadow of night.
Where I had no emotions except for happiness,
      Hopefulness,
25 And peace of mind.
      But I can’t.
Because time travel hasn’t been invented yet,
And my emotions are still simmering just like Sunday dinner.
Threatening to overflow like the oil filled in mama’s hands when getting my hair done.
30 Eventually they become a nice blended soup that I can serve to myself.
       Making me,
       My community,
       My family,
       Friends,
35 And even the world,
       One emotion.

Football Mania 2018

World Cup - 2018
Football season
Football fever
Glued to the television

Moments of anxiety
Nail biting
Edge chair sitting
Cussing the players, the referee
Despair, heart wrenching, disappointment

Then

Screaming, shouting... G O A LLLL!!!
Pandemonium, jumping, dancing,
Pans knocking, horns blowing
Hilarious with joy

My team won

Ouch!

Silence
Sad face, tears, disbelief, anger, mixed emotions

My team lost

Football season
Football fever

MIXED EMOTIONS

Mother deserved every bit of my love
She was my first love
She was the love of my teenage years.

I lived without the love I loved
High atop the stairs I sat, waiting
Torn between poverty and pseudo power.

Did you not know love grows?
A single flower blooms on pavement
A helpless pup found in abandonment
A cornered bird cared for
Deeply buried love can be unearth.

The pain of going astray
Blinding fog of delay
Who cared I drifted?
Looking for love in wrong places, when
All along it brewed within.

Mixed Emotions

I'm stuck and tired, i don't know what to do
keeping my thoughts inside, until i can share them with you
bored and alone with nothing but bad intentions
sick and scared of all the same reflections
so afraid, anxious of what been boxed up to say
frustrated to get them out, worried, i need you to stay
I'm sorry and disappointed of what i've done
shocked and forced to think of whats begun
I'm exhausted and shy, I'm hiding behind my wall
but i know that you'll be there when i need you when i give in to fall

Mixed Emotions

i am happy
i am sad
i get angry
i get mad
i abuse my skin
i abuse everything
every touch is always pain
will i ever love again

when i feel joy i sing to the skys
cry in happiness
with a twinkle in my eyes

but when im sad
i go down to the dark
doing bad things
that will always leave a mark
tears will never end
needing a best friend
asking out to the world
why do this im just a girl
ill raise my fist and shout to the sky
make it rain with all the tears i cry
ill take one last step
and make it to my death
sink deep within the ground
and i wont make a sound
ill finally be at peace
can finally go to sleep
never having to go home
my problems over flown

Mixed Emotions

I'm having mixed emotions...
Should I stay or should I go?
I want so much to predict the future, but only God knows.

This is such a big decision...
If I stay we may be unstable, but if I go there'd be so much missin'.
I'm so into this, yet so confused.
I love you so much but what do I do?

I'm hurting inside, but yet filled with excitement.
I'm yearning for your love; please give me some enlightment.
I want to carry your seed, maybe two, or even three...
but we have to make things right; I'll follow your lead.

No matter how much we fight and carry on...
We keep loving each other like a sweet melody as if it were our song.
Sometimes feelings are better understood in writing.
because with the way things are, there's nothing worse than hiding.

At times it's like your taking my heart right out of my chest.
but is it for you to keep or throw on the market for others to test?
I can't shake these feelings; for now I just need you to come hold me tight.
You don't have to say anything; but keep me safe and warm through-out the night.

We won't let this go because we've come way too far.
Our feelings for each other are too deep to be left in the dark.
For you to become a part of me, we must work together as one.
and as time goes on, these mixed emotions will be all said and done.

Mixed Emotions

As the days go by
I wonder why
I'm sitting here alone
not answering my phone
I walk along the river
and then I shiver
I kneel along my bed
praying for those who might be dead
I'm bathed in sunlight
and I feel so bright

Mixed Emotions

Closing in on me like a room without a light
Bearing down like the sun on my skin
It tears away at me like anforgettable lyric
Skiing on the edge of the truth and a lie
Have you heard of it, you probable have,
It's despair, what a a horror.
It's praying that you wake up the next day
The wish that your arms will still welcome back those who left
Trying to decide if I should stay or go
The thought that I might turn away
Switching my mind about things that I want
It's hope, what a world would be without it...
It's waking up with a message on your pillow that expresses one's true feelings
Seperating the hate, from the feeling too hard to explain
Not caring about the rumors that you know in fact lack truth
Hearing those three special words that will make or break a relationship
Have you felt it, the tug on your heart?
It's called love, and that's all someone really wants..
To be loved.

Leaving family home, grief, a loved one lost
Reasons differ as life deals its cards,
Accept and hold close to your heart
Never show a single card, decisions await.

Leave your home for greener pastures
Some gates are locked warning trespassers,
Mothers and Fathers pass on so quickly
On your own, life can be prickly.

Memories abound in strange ways
A word or an action comes your way.
Walk the road of so many dreams
Lack of people and houses unseen.

Demolished, making way for progress
Stop and stare, family home, greets me.
Still standing proud, defying inevitable
I Stand so still for hour after hour.

Each moment in my life has passed so quickly,
A visit is called for, showing bravery.
Find myself standing at the front door
Off its hinges, looking forlorn.

I pick it up as if helping an old friend
Place against a wall, deserves a rest.
Step inside, met by familiar settings,
Desertion has taken its toll of surroundings.

Silence, so silent, a noise it makes,
Walk the rooms, still looking proud.
Inner voice has taken control
Leave right now and save your soul

Ignore the message, do not understand.
My parents’ bedroom is where I now stand
To this day when I am judged
I swear I smelled the perfume, of a Woman I called Mam

Left the home with one look back.
Then returned to life, get back on track.
As said before, words and actions, inspire dreams
Sometimes a nightmare or so it seems,
Believe what we want, or dream.

As we visited our youngest grandson in his first year of college…a college close to the ocean…I must admit…the two of us…were filled with mixed emotions.

Our minds were happy seeing he’s grown into a fine young man…more confident and stronger…while our hearts were a little more melancholy…wishing he had remained a child just a little longer.

It’s a mix of emotions I imagine all parents and grandparents feel as each moment slips into the past…proud at who our children and grandchildren are becoming…while wishing time wouldn’t move so fast.

As he showed us around his campus…his dorm…our minds flipped from today back to when he was a child…years ago…and both of us felt blessed to have been around to watch him grow.

When our visit was over…after we hugged…as he walked away…he turned and waved goodbye…and I held onto Deborah’s hand as she began to cry.

Those mixed emotions bubbling up again…sad at how fast the time is going….
but as we watched him walk away….proud at how much he’s growing.

Mixed Emotions

Mixed emotions are running deep
every night i cannot sleep.
i look back....
what went so wrong?
you haven't seen me
in so d*mn long.
we used to talk everyday
and you made everything feel ok.
but now you feel so far away
i cry about this every day.

Mixed Emotions

Without you I can't get to where I need to go,

Everything is fast for others

But to me it's slow,

Money needs to be made,

Bills need to be paid,

Focus on your daughter's education for her to get better grades,

Get along with the mother for your daughter's sake,

But how can you feel that if you and her can't relate,

The same information on the same plate,

Kinda makes you wonder why you started talking in the first place,

You've accepted yourself and moved on with life,

But how can you continue the path with her if she still upset about a mistake,

An accident happen kept me leaning backwards instead of forwards,

Goals pushed to the side instead of following towards,

That lifetime achievement awards,

You see the more you hold back,

The more time for another to take your shine,

I been running away from myself,

Instead taking what's mine,

Each day and night I predict life is fine,

Not knowing that I'm killing myself inside,

Instead of squeezing my life of rhymes,

My mind is in a maze,

My heart is weak,

And my voice isn't brave,

Brave enough to flow water from my tongue,

When I'm creating waves,

I'm stuck like glue,

Unable to move,

So all I see is the same picture,

The pain is eating me alive,

To where I lean towards that bottle of liquor,

Or that bag of weed,

Cause maybe the smoke will clear the pain and heal my wounds,

Only to know the pain is not completely gone it will be back soon,

But it felt good for 3 hours being on top of the moon,

If my life is like this,

Then I need to switch my plans up,

Take care of my responsibilities and man up,

Delete the negative around me,

For a positive feeling when I stand up,

Life is too short to give it away,

And take a chance,

So climb on to the world and begin to dance,

You only got one so take it,

And die with love in your heart,
