JUST SOULS
I use to walk down the Cafe Street.
The place of my reminiscence is in the South.
The jooking was heard throughout this section of town.
Leland, Mississippi is so quiet now.
Walking through Uptown finds peace from the noise that made the City sparkle...
The wigs were beautiful that women wore.
The men in their Stacy Adams shined on the dance floor.
An A-line dress or maxi maybe a miniskirt you would wear.
You were dressed to kill.
Turn your man's head with jealousy.
He would shout and tell you that you are with him.
You were as jealous when you lost his attention.
An argument may start if he was not so careful.
However, you would make-up because he would defeat the purpose.
This is your long-term relationship - nothing more in it!
You bleached your hair and put aside your wig.
Striking features, this gave.
He had matured as well.
You are now a couple for fifteen years.
Not married just don't see a reason to do that.
You laugh and say if people talk who gives a damn!
Our love stands the test of time.
The ending is not told, just souls.

Dramatic Monologue
Zeitgeist - My 1960s - Liz Walsh
Kaftans, mini-skirts, Carnaby Street fashions.
Angel Delight, Hirondelle wine and that sheepskin rug.
"The price of round steak on a Saturday" while
Magdalen Laundries kept dark, dark secrets!
Nylon socks, Cuban heeled boots, body odour -
"it's always the girl's fault - she led him on!-
Button-down collars, civil Rights Marches,
Suspender belts old fashioned, false eye-lashes black -
Excitment, tights, "parents afraid of the new".
Stilletto heels crucifying, Rosary beads grumbling -
"Oh Sacred Heart of Jesus I place all my trust in thee"
Hamburgers, Fleetwood Mac, Anoraks - guilty! remember
Archbishop McQuaid! Bishop Lucey bullying Father Good!
"Wimpey Take-away" - meet a fella - womans lib!
Vietnam War, Albert Hall and Wilson Pickett.
"Would you kiss a boy on the first date?
Drip dry nylon, Dickie Rock gyrating
"Plastics are the future” the graduate said.
"Would you take the pill?"
Tayto crisps - "cheese and onion" munching in the dark.
Che Guevara, Mao Tse Tung and that little red book
In an empire line dress.
Church domination, contraception and major cigarettes
"Back-combing" Vesta Curries and a packet of smash
Maxi, mini, midi-dresses - pan-stick
Mary Quant, Twiggy and the Film Society party.
Flirting innocently, terrified hope - guilt ridden thoughts.
Surges of males, females standing
Eyes scanning, high pitched laughing
"Would you like to dance?"
Free love, flower power, heart thumping
Expensive shoes, a relic of St. Imelda and a chain-store dress -
"She will only get married” Miss Brigid Hayes said!
Afraid of the future, afraid of corruption
Brain exploding - ALL MIXED UP -

To be a woman, there is a lot of wonder
There are lots of beauty secrets to ponder
That goes beyond the powder
That breathes the living power
Leggings and shorts seize the moment
Maxi dresses and mini skirts twirl in enjoyment
Flowers and blossoms of spring make a statement
Coats and furs of winter cover with endearment
Eye brushed the turtlenecks caressingly soothe
Hair styled each line and curl is made smooth
The heels and bags all live in the couture truth
The woman in her shines in a beautiful cool
In tights and ice cream she shows
Self esteemed within her, outside of her she knows

There once was a newborn named Maxi,
Who forewent a stork for a taxi,
But as he could not yet walk,
And bubble-babbling was his talk,
Driver gave him to a new mama in the Back Seat.

MARRIAGES
For long I cherish its trees and flowers
As it forms my roots from dead dreams
So my aim is to continue from where folks retires it
Marry my Golden Idol
Marry my love
Have children and be a father
But now the dream is a battle
So I am on a battlefield
And I ask dear, who is the foe?
here, they are look at them, the enemies
Thousand and half Ghana in cedis
Twenty four bottles of Schnapps for her
Two Singer branded sewing machines for her
Twenty four pairs of panties for her
Twelve pairs of ladies shoes for her
Six stacks of portmanteau bags for her
One golden ring for the day in dream
One maxi size towel for dear father-in-law
Two pairs of headkerchief for dear mother-in-law
Yet many are hidden behind the smiles
Then tears soon gathers its momentum
Soon to flow free
But I am not afraid
Only I wonder what the future holds
Shall I be married
When in this day! its now a trade
But I blame my folks, my parents
why?
I should have been a woman to make them rich
As this is the song of the day
Marriage for SALE!
Marriage for sale!
Not for paupers
Not for the mean
Not for the poor
Yet Still we shall endure, pay the dowry, overcome the enemy.

Dedicated to Ed Sheeran
Inside the glass the dry leaf was manifested, as a skeleton is prominent with all the inside structure and artistry.
I went to the voting center. I had nothing , completely nothing in my mind. Beto O'Rourke, some democratic other names , but I was not daydreaming, I was not dreaming at all, in a grown up body, I learn so little, after putting so much efforts, I feel I am getting washed away, and nothing sits there, nothing gets deposited there, as silt, sedimentation of particles, nothing too much sensual either. It gets washed away, as the river flows, as a present body embedded in the nature, out in the flora and fauna.
I had a ride. She is a beauty, with headscarf and white skin, she is a mirror of the past. flavor of cooked mosul of next door neighbor, where we had a big big masjid on the other side of the road, the name of the masjid was Minar Masjid.
The minaret was truly beautiful, and the curvature , also. Older days, in Bangladesh.
We reached the destination. She met a random person. I had so many complicated nuances in my introspection that I hardly talk about that. There is a narrow lane to be tagged as inferiority complex, and opening up about truer issues, where lights are making the pathway as our intentions are reflected on that.My mom was a old fashioned beauty, an old one, but vintage enough like the most delicate motif, as I touch the threads beyond time, without cherishing too much, without mourning too much for perishing either.
She was never an outspoken person. My older sister had a maxi, a long gown, a greenish one. Amma mended the gown for me, a downsized one, and did embroidery on the chest with pink and green threads. Her knitting was with a style, a reserved one.
Not every morn brings her back. Not these days. Not too often.

Friday night and I am already high as a kite plus this is a girl’s night out.
I will take a nap to lower my high and awaken ready to party.
This is my night to enjoy me.
I am awoke and sober.
The clock ticks four p.m.
My arousal is provoking incitement.
Humor the soul
Ignite the spirit
This is my night out.
I move to my closet and chose my outfit.
My selection is a sky blue maxi.
I smile mentally and know this well get me attention.
I am single by the way; however, I have had prior engagements.
In the club now, loud and rowdy, my wit will not end.
I am drinking bourbon.
Shall I go straight tonight or am I a gay girl?
My sexual feeling is driving me wild.
Has my sex partner made it in the house?
Humor the soul
Ignite the spirit
This is my night out.
Boisterous I precede.
He enters via the east wing.
He is dressed to kill.
I sashay toward him.
Someone pulls me on the dance floor.
He takes a seat and waits for me with eyes glowing.
The dance ends.
He holds out his hand.
Together we leave.
Specters we are.
Spiritually alive!
This is my night out.

Mama brought me
A dog for a present
I was smiling and very pleasant
I called it Maxi
Maxi used patrol the streets of Atlantis
With a pal called Twiggy
They were unstoppable
It was a doggy, dog world
When I was alone in the car
Maxi was my bodyguard
Our neighbour was cruel one day
She poured boiled water
On my best friend
Even though I wasn’t there
She was in good care
Mama nursed Maxi with motor oil
Maxi regained her glossy light brown fur
She made a full recovery
Even though that what the neighbour did
Was bugging me
Maxi I embraced her hugging
Glad to have you back
Still Maxi and Twiggy
Be roaming these street of Atlantis
Intruders and strangers beware
These k-9’s are armed with their teeth…

Dramatic Verse
The ringing of the bells
Are putting me through hell
Maxi bets are on
But they're singing the wrong song
Forty dollars in
"I want some free spins"
Now the food monies gone in
"Why did I have to sin !"
The funds are going down
I can not hear that sound
The jackpot going off
Pick the kids up or not ?
They should be OK
I'll only be ten minutes away
There's no room for my mood
I need to get food approved
It's empty inside, the cupboards that once thrived
All for that game
I shouldn't have played
The kids are suffering, yet another day
My insanity is thin
Reality sinks in
I can't seem to pass
This addiction that has last
I wish I could fight it
Set a match, and light it
Ashes to dust
It has to be a must
Get rid of this game
That makes me feel ashamed ...

With campaigns established
Accolades accomplished
An honourable life, taken to the max
Championed feats, of no small measure
A nation can treasure
Matters addressed with proficiency
The shaping of an era – equality
Realization of rights, project legacy
Impacting a wider community
Raise the bar, unsettled below
Challenging the status quo
Battles fought
With justice sought
Of leadership, seeking to serve
When forces merge
Mark the campaign
The present cannot remain the same
Confinement release
Establishing peace
Break the borders
Let indifference cease
A fight for freedom, oh justice prevail
Of strategic systems – show society
With due propriety
Of political accountability
The epitome of civility
Accrued insight
Of human rights
To lobby, to lead
With fairness proceed
Catalyst creation, positive change
Expansion of range
Of non discrimination
Heroic determination
A valuable service to the vulnerable
Outreach outstanding, by example lead
Contributed equation
To influence a nation
Of historical significance
Sheerly profound
With relevant reverence
A shining light of difference

What Did We Get Stuck in 2012
The doctors in the OR had a busy time this year
Freeing things that got stuck in rectum, nose or ear
Or any other orifice that lies within our bod
The list of all the things they found is really kind of odd
Within the ear, a button, a toothpick and hairpin
A screwdriver and a drinking straw were also found therein
A key, a piece of paper, a little plastic dart
A fly and an eraser were also lodged in part
Within the nose a Dixie cup, barrette and colored pencil
A nickel, BB pellets, and a small plastic utensil
A screw, a bead, a pick-up stick and a little plastic toy
Two nostrils filled with magnets in just one little boy
Within the throat a lemon seed, maxi pad and thimble
A key-chain ring, a toy plane, some kids are really nimble
Within the rectum, a loaf of bread, a crayon and a lighter
A small hand wrench, a vial of salts, were stuck there even tighter
And I won’t even mention what was found in some who-hoos
Or even try to question the things that some girls use
And the men are no exception when it comes to getting stuck
You’d be surprised what they used to size, and then ran out of luck
And wouldn’t you love to hear the stories these patients told the staff
And see the faces of the docs as they tried so not to laugh

Peace and love lots of slang man
I'm feeling groovy tonight
I was a flower child still stand
wishing we could all unite
although they protested
in their maxi dresses
and were getting arrested
I would've avoided those messes
mag wheels and jacked up cars
green shaggy carpet
matching kitchen appliances with bars
long hair and sideburns artists
silver trees color wheels
did glow with their stacks
mini-skirts flashing appeals
burning bras with bare backs
just to experience how it feels
custom vans with daisies
parents with wigs toupees
rose colored glasses not crazies
an era that never went out fun days

minimus and maximus, are two special cats of note,
one has short wiry fur,the other a long coat,
mini as you may gather, she's all skin and bone,
maxi on the other hand weighs in at half a stone.
for twins they are like chalk and cheese,
no two things are the same,
she is sleek and boisterous,he's just fat and untame.
mini is cute and cuddly,
maxi's an elephant on the prowl,
she will purr at you quite softly,
he'll just thunder and growl.
mini fit's through the cat flap, maxi is way oversize,
she will give your hand a tap,
he'll bring tears to your eyes,
mini can climb the curtains and swing from off the pole,
maxi can't do anything, but he'll give his eyes a roll.
she goes into the garden to chase the butterflies,
he is laid on the patio, well thats no big surprize,
but for all their faults they're special,
as special as can be,
cos these are the two little kittens,
that were bought for my brother and me.

I LOVE TO HANG OUT IN THE ISLANDS SAILING WHERE EVER IT'S HOT
CAPTAIN AND CREW ON MY SCHOONER GOTTA MAINTAIN MY YACHT
I HAVE SOME BOAT NYMPHS, BLONDES WHO CAN PLAY
HANGING OUT TOPLESS ON MY DECK ALL DAY
I'M JUST A SAILOR HIGH ON THE BREEZE
GOING WHERE I WANT, DOING WHAT I PLEASE
LOAD MY YACHT WITH COLOMBIAN HIDDEN IN A PHONY FUEL TANK
SAIL RIGHT INTO MIAMI, THINK I'LL BUY ME A BANK
OPEN A RESTAURANT, THAT'S WHAT I'LL DO
OR MAYBE A BOUTIQUE OR TWO
I'M JUST A PIRATE TRYING TO SCORE
REMEMBER ONLY SAILERS GET BLOWN OFF SHORE
IT'S NOT JUST A JOB IT'S ADVENTURE
DEALING TO THE RICH AND THE POOR
I'M A TWENTYFIRST CENTURY LEGENDARY
ALTERNATIVE ENTREPRENEUR
LIFE IS FLEETING AND LOVE SLIPS AWAY
AIN'T THAT REASON TO BE HIGH ALL DAY
LIFE'S TOO SHORT TO BE WASTED
AND POVERTY SUCKS THAT'S MY CREED
ALTHOUGH I LOVE SLOW DANCING
I MUCH PREFER TO DO SPEED
MY NEXT ADVENTURE IS COMING TO ME
LOAD A THOUSAND KEYS ON A DC3
THAT'S WHY I HANG OUT IN THE ISLANDS
SAILING WHEREVER IT'S HOT
CAPTAIN AND CREW ON A MAXI
GOTTA MAINTAIN MY YACHT
WIND AND WATER AND THE SUN IN MY FACE
I'M JUST LUCKY TO HAVE FOUND THIS PLACE
I'M JUST A SAILOR TRYING TO HAVE FUN
YOU WANT PARTY FAVORS, BABY I'M THE ONE
