My motherland, the land of four colors, the land of sweetness
As is described by its rich history, filled with wars and battles
United it stands today, giving freedom to each and every son of its soil
Revered as the land of the sun, sea and sand, the beaches, the golden skin
It is where was found the lost Dodo, killed till its last by those hungry colonizers
The land where I took birth, the land I admire, the land away from which I shall not survive
Imagination pours strongly in every corner of this island, be it in songs or in poetry
Unmistakably the jewel of all the Indian Ocean
Sweet is its fragrance, sweet is its beauty, my homeland it is!
A small retreat surrounded by the blue lagoon
Loved by all those who upon seeing its nature, do swoon!
Have you ever felt the sun's glow bask over your skin
And felt so soothed
So totally content
And exalted
That you only want to stretch out
Whether on the green grassy lands
Or on the cold sands
And drink of this glow
Drink as much as you can
As the thirsty do, after a long walk
In an empty desert?
Have you ever walked around town
And felt so enlightened
For surrounding you are places of worship
Meant not for one religion solely
But, being so diverse, yet, at the same time
So peaceful and so tolerant of each other
So much that walking through the streets
And merely glancing at it all
Your faith in the higher powers
Would simply flare up!
Have you ever wanted to sit, in total solitude
And admire the ocean
Whether it remains as calm as the blue skies
Or whether it rages as if it were pandemonium
Whichever, it matters not
For in the end, you only want to let such a sight
Drown in your gaze
And feel wings grow on your heart
To set you soaring up in emotional
Intakes of heavy breaths
Filled with the ecstasy of being!
Why, have you ever wanted to feel warm in winter
To complain of the heat all year round
And to enjoy the sight of a tropical paradise
One filled with a green flora
And a diverse fauna
And a multicolored nation
One bent on protecting its legacy
Yet, at the same time
One prone to progress to tomorrow!
Pray, if you do dream of such
Then, come
Come to the exotic tiny piece of land
That is Mauritius!
Hello world, this is an article about what is happening in Mauritius
Do read, you shall smile and feel that life is indeed gracious
You must have absolutely no idea
How life here in our little island is a panacea
Yes, humanity for the weak runs high
No longer than yesterday, flowers fell from the sky
An old woman caused it all, she lost her purse
And was helped by a group of teenagers, pure at heart!
Sharing what is in excess is up beyond its limits
Yes, to the poor and the downtrodden we do share our food in bits
We even buy more than we do need
So that the hungry we do feed!
Love abounds in every corner of the island
Yes, to all the brothers and the sisters of the world we go give a hand
Life is but a transitory passage
So we do care to make of it here in Mauritius, a blessing!
Faith does live here, side by side with tolerance
So many people, each one having his own belief
Yet, we do always share, with each other, a mystical dance
Always hand in hand, always with smile on our face!
Here, we rush not to work
We do take the time to sit and enjoy the sun
Life here is such fun
Pray, world, life here reminds me of the comfort of Noah's ark!

LORD, I humbly greet You, return to my prayer list with "M" countries
(I would like to intercede for Mexico, so close to the "troubled" US brother)
Adoration is the FIRST STEP in prayer (That's how I begin) using A-C-T-S
The letters, not the word, A for adoring Him, C for confession of sins
Variety & Individuality in prayer, but these steps are essential (O Monaco!)
I intercede, Abba-Father, for countries who are in LOCKDOWN, this crisis
At the start I thought I wouldn't recall the small: Malta, Marshall Islands!
Or newer nations now in Europe, perhaps a few from former Yugoslavia
Pray for those in Africa (glorious names): Mali, Morocco, Mozambique;
Other islands did well with tourism before the Covid-19 global pandemic
We ask for economic relief and solutions for little Mautritius, larger Mauritania,
Monaco, Mongolia, Myanmar, the newer nations, Moldova and Montenegro
Last but certainly not least, Malawi, in South-central Africa, named as a Lake
LORD, show mercy to us all, in Jesus' Name, to those "named and unnamed"
NOTE: I have not structured this form with iambic feet or any other meter. I found this form suits my faith in Jesus as LORD, closest to how I feel: SONnet
Altho' fearless it was flightless
I do declare
and when it found itself earthbound
was the dodo despondent in despair
or even think
it would become extinct
if it knew it was in
deep doo-doo
somewhat akin
to the the missing link
unafraid of man
who thought them dumb
as they come
on the quiet
an easy prey for sailors
a whole new different dinner diet
but there was nothing to be done
for suspiciously delicious
history they could never outrun
or ever leave Mauritius
