Best Life Experience Poems
Time never wasted
Envious of you sitting in this basement
Never a waste
Followed you with much drive
Now my time is occupied
Sometimes wishing I could die
Not in my nature so I strive
Wished and waited for that time
back stabbed betrayed and denied
Feeling I’ll be alone till I die
Always wishing to be by your side
Now my time is occupied
Striving for a better life that I can survive
With hopes to provide
For we have a mutual tie
Loving you will never be a lie
Time to suit up and try
Beginning to realize we’ve been freed from a lie
A relationship shouldn’t be a one way street
Except for riding on the road to defeat
For I pray you accomplish all your feats
You left me in this seat
Now my time is occupied
Just know I’ve loved you before
During and after this defeat
Living our lives in this world
means overcoming trouble and strife
hardship and pain come our way
which at times means using the knife
God comes to us with His offer
an offer to live life to the full
but that fullness comes rejecting self
giving God His place as our tool
This Christian life is our experience
lived out among the world's glare
showing Jesus as our supreme Lord
following Him as our brother and fellow heir
It's not an idea to pore over
analysing it to our heart's content
it's far too important for that
God sending Jesus was heavenly meant
So live for Jesus with all your heart
praise God for all that He's done
pouring your heart into all of life
knowing Jesus truly as God's Son
(Quote:)
" The Christian life is an experience to be lived, not an idea to be analysed" - Augustine (354-430)
A guy ran into my Vegas bar, seemed to be in quite a panic.
When he ordered twelve doubles of my finest whiskey,
I thought, “Who orders twelve doubles? This guy must be manic."
Now, in Las Vegas, “doubles of your very best” are never cheap,
Twenty bucks and more in bars all over town.
Get a little crazy and your tab can get quite steep.
“Twelve doubles, Buddy? You sure that decision’s sound?”
“Twelve doubles, Mac. Please…and make sure it’s your best."
So, as fast as I poured doubles, he would throw’em down.
He drank them without a wince, a shiver or a shake.
It was something to behold....amazing in a way.
I had to wonder, “Just how much can he take?”
But after five or six, I said, “Slow down… you’re drinkin’ these too fast."
He didn’t slur his words and what he said made perfect sense.
“Mister, If you had what I got, you wouldn’t try to make’em last.”
“Well…..what’ve you got?” I decided to ask.
He gulped down two more and smiled.
“Eighty five cents and an empty flask.”
I started life as
A grain of sand,
But knew I’d find
A way to expand,
And always being
A bit of a rebel,
I joined with others
And became a pebble,
And as I grew
And then took stock,
I then realised
I had become a rock,
And as I become more
Confident and grow older,
I wonder if I’ll become -
A little boulder?
"The Life Experience"
by: Eric L. Boddie
Decisions, choices
Influential voices
Separation between wins and loses
And Life is all it costs, it's
What we do and how it's done
Where we're going and beyond
Sarcasm without the pun
Fueled by self-inflicted fun
The sun and the moon
The bride and the groom
The fork and the spoon
From the Manger to the tomb
The struggle through the fight
There is dark, and there is Light
In the balance between day and night
With our blood, sweat and tears, it is all that we write
Dreaming shows you many hidden things in your mind; it opens you to alternative thinking…
What are friends? Are friends someone you can trust? What is trust? What is trusting? I've always asked myself this, but never really answered it... Friends are always something I have struggled with.
How does someone become your friend? Is it an unspoken thing? A mutual agreement? A strive to be popular? Or is it a feeling that everyone has?
Throughout my elementary years I had 6 friends. Brandon, Mattia, Isaac, Matthew, and 2 girls, Emily and Sydney. When I hit 5th grade, Isaac, who was my best friend, moved away.
I had one big problem, people who I saw as friends, weren't really friends. There were a lot of things said behind my back and people would use me as a fall guy.
Onto my dream...
My dreams as a kid, before I trained myself to lucidly dream, were, as far as I knew, real. And to be honest, for the most part I don't know what was a dream and what wasn't...
I remember the new "cool" game to play was ZAP... If you don't know what zap is it is pretty much you put a name on a hand and a time and they can't look at it until that time or they must ask them out. This also happened to be the time the term "gay" had hit my school, so I had a guys name written on my hand. So once I found out what it was I went and washed it all off. so as we went back in class everyone who fell to peer pressure which was pretty much everyone but me got in trouble.
Now I told the teacher I had it at one time but I washed it off at lunch because Iw anted to be honest.... She just said that was the right thing to do.... But everyone started laughing at my calling me gay and such because it was a guys name... So when asked who satarted it someone said ask the gay kid.... Well of course I got blamed with it so I was sent to the principal with not one, but two reasons to be in trouble... I woke... got ready for school, and as I was getting to school guess what I saw? A new friend, and its name was Zap.....
What is a true friend? Is it someone who will stand for you? Someone who is always there? Do you have a true friend? Do you trust that person? Now answer that again, do you really? Ask yourself a third time, how do you really know they are your friend?
P.S. Thank you all for all the support, I have really appreciated all the positive feedback on my work... Jarrod D.~
The alchemy of truth
may be from a particular perspective
or colored by youth
and sprinkled with objective
For your truth can hold your own view
your lens through which you see the world
And naivety can lead astray
and reality fall subject to that doom
And you may not have the ability yet
to completely read the room
When you don't have wisdom
You have less fear and conclusions are reached quickly
But life is so much more complex
and taken in context its sticky
Was that what was really meant
or did it happen by chance
Was it deliberate inference
or laid out by happenstance
Most times most things are not architected
they happen in real time whim
And though the outcome can be devastating
the creation is less of a sin
What leads to what
and how can that happen
isn't always clear to see the cause and effect
And so truth be known,
good intentions implode
and things go off track on their own
So don't hang the actors with the act
they alone did not write the script, it's a fact
Life is all improv
with a heavy dose of chaos
And giving to much credence to the feelings caused
can ruin what may be right there
A living pachinko machine that happened to play out
that way, this time, here
The alchemy of truth includes the lens - Artimus 9/24/23 (C) Susan Manley
We have toiled,
we have laboured.
we have launched into the deep,
we wearied ourselves in tempest.
endangering our lives for filths,
Our summer too short for relief,
and the winter too long with pains,
we bore the shame, the jeers and mockery.
we met with stiff opposition,
foes within and more without,
the deadliest daggers from home front,
wagging fiercest warfare,
all the while purloining,
ridiculed and scorned,
our soul through many trials faints,
Yet advancing,
Unyielding,
Unrelenting,
still we look up.
Eyeshutters catch remnance of being
Once were, now is
injustifiably different; *****
How man strays off beaten paths.
Cold, stale air in which i breathe
wrapped up in a pretzel-like jacket
amongst other kindred spirits
Unbenounced to me where we're going.
Names leave and faces rendered obscure
Hints that my senses are dissipating
I watch myself watch emptiness
For the last time.
Almost as if i take people with me
In my thoughts, in my souls
But, Ah..., They aren't mine to keep
Just to remember until we meet again
I used to fear that some would find me strange.
Yet I'm seeing life harsher than I thought.
Thus I shape a wandering mountain range.
I used to fear that some would find me strange
My hunch tells me it's time to make a change.
It's simpler than what I aimed or I've wrought
I used to fear that some would find me strange.
yet I'm seeing life harsher than I thought.

("To the Bone", 2018, original encaustic)
Down to the Bone
Over and over
Up and down
Back-and-forth
Around and ‘round
It’s always learning the same lesson.
Learning it again
And again.
Like a species,
An individual
With amnesia
We cycle around
Experiencing
To rediscover
Yet again
What we’ve always known
Not in a rut, but
In a spiral.
And each time ‘round
As we relearn the old,
We learn it with a new twist
Twist of the coil
Which inevitably
In time
Is worn out
In exhaustion, worn
Down to the bone
To a stub
A frayed knot
A bit of tattered fabric
That once supported
Bound and
Veiled the sacred
In a mystery,
But now
Leaves it
Revealed
In stark simplicity.

THOSE FIVE IMPERATIVE WORDS
That, my friend is the genuine article right there
All sparkly, shiny, and crystal clear
It looks pretty with the rubies on each side
But man, I’ve got plenty of time to decide
What’s there to decide man, you needn’t do any difficult tasks
I mean take that thing and ask the question a man like us always asks
Because that thing can only increase in value
See how sometimes it looks yellow and sometimes aqua blue?
Listen, I know it glistens and that’s righteously cool
But ask the question man, don’t be no fool
Let’s simply crawl to where we need to be
Because I’m telling you brother, this is serendipity
the gem just seems a part of me since I took it from there
And with that question it becomes someone else’s to wear
Look Bro, we went into the jewelry store and almost had to shoot old Pop
So ask that all important question, a fence or a pawn shop?

NO DOUBT ABOUT IT!
Life experience always educate us
Don't trust anyone's words easily
Always believe in consistent actions
Not impressed with its faking.
Life there's no wrong answer
Just believe in your choices
The most accurate one is right
Do what you like for happiness.
~Have I~
Have I done the best of all that I could
Have I lived my life the way I should
Have I said the things I couldn’t say
Have I made the best of each new day
Have I been strong when I felt fear
Have I heard things that I need to hear
Have I kept a smile when skies were gray
Have I made the best of each new day
Have I learned or failed to understand
Have I lent very many a helping hand
Have I allowed my morals to ever stray
Have I made the best of each new day

So I Guess the Question are Asking...Have You? :-)
God Bless and Best Wishes My Friends...Peace
I used to feel trapped inside of these walls
the locks used to glisten on all of the doors.
I dreamt of the night I’d get away
how I’d jump in the cab, no more to say.
The city was bright, quickly turned grey
I watched the light fade, day by day
I lived in the dark, slept through the shine
I denied that I’d seen all of the signs.
But soon after it came, the smoke then the flames
that no mind twisting could put out.
I jumped to the ground, it passed through the town and in my own tears I would drown.
While there was great concern over my return
I’d arrived with my feet on the ground.
The sun again shone, my friends hadn’t gone and best wishes paraded around.
Now I sit with my pen
again and again, thank god for the tears of those days.
They taught me a lesson, with no means of threaten and I’m no longer locked in a cage.
Rain still comes under new umbrellas, so don’t throw what you know away.
