The Story of Joshua Bell

They don't speak
those walls
only absorb
scraps of life
the stench of urine
lucky pennies
desperate art
and a ringing clamber of voices
that move with every rush of air
down winding subway tunnels

here life collides
in status
and in thunders
those walls
bear witness
to many miseries
and many wonders

on this day
the subway walls
mesmerised by a sight
never seen before
lamented
the death of beauty
as it passed thousands
gracefully
and ignored

rushing
skirts, pants, collars, cologne
rushing
fingers, slender, darting in a blur
hollow
minds, tempers, hellos and goodbyes
hollow
music, echoing, not a soul does it stir
lost
man to the intricate beauty of pattern
lost
eyes of passerbys to the empty roundabouts of life
fickle
strings snapping with the stress of exertion
fickle
ambition, love, expectation and strife

they were all mixed together
in a bowl of concrete walls
they whirled
six of Bach's greatest works
a handcrafted violin
from 1713
played by one of the greatest
violinists
in the world

he played incognito
only six people stopped
20 gave him money
and then continued
to walk

a three year old boy
was drawn
to the sound
his mother let him
listen
his eyes wide
and astound
but watches soon tick
and they tick too loud
and they drive
the crowd forward
as if stopping
is not allowed

Joshua Bell
let his bow fall limp
as the last of his music
was swallowed
by the whitenoise
of life
and screeching
metro trains
the only sound
of applaud
soon stolen
by a new rush of air

the subway walls
silent
reflect
people would find peace
in the thick of life
if only
they would
connect.

How Could You ? To My Son Joshua, Whom I Love Very Much

How could you turn your back on him?
What has he ever done to you?
Except to give you all his love,
So innocent and true.

You disappear for years on end,
And never leave a word.
No birthday cards or Christmas days,
I find that quite absurd.

He is not alone in your evil deeds,
For you have three more.
You didn't even say good-bye,
When you walked through the door.

How could you even call yourself,
A mother in the sense?
You can't even spell the word,
Not from this time hence.

How could you even sleep at night?
Knowing what you've done,
How could you even walk away?
And leave our darling son.

How could your feelings be so cold?
How could you ever love?
How is it, that your desires,
Always rise above.

How could your darn addictions,
Come before your kids?
How is it you can live with yourself?
Knowing all of this.

How could you just give him up?
As if he were not there,
How could you turn and close your eyes?
And show you do not care.

How could I be so lucky?
That you've done what you've done,
You have given me the greatest gift,
You let me raise my son!

For You Josh.... I love you Son....Dad

Premium Member Living Steady,Tribute To Prophet Tb Joshua

I am living steady
I am moving steady
In unsteady times
Keeping my balance and smiles

Though the world is unsteady
Keep moving and ready
To meet God in His kingdom
And live forever in freedom

Glorify God in good and bad times
So that you can overcome at all times
Cause the devil goes around
Stalking victims to run aground

Jesus the rock is ever steady
He is ever ready
To save those that trust in Him from troubles
As the devil strikes His grace is doubled

Some may look to distant Mars
among radiant stars.
Get to the desert, you'll find more
much nearer ours.

Nearer than any man knows.
Ancestral, celestial bones,
secret kept in Mojave's botany
seldom seen
though I've never been.

Spread of clustered flowering panicles..
tall giants in sun swept sleep,
despite little rain
inside darkest soul
they creep.

As a child waking from slumber,
thirsty in wonder..
they'll see you free wi' no more pain,
'cept that you bring.

Look to the west,
our landlocked stars..
and be free again,
truly free,
once again.

it is I who have drifted.

The Angel of Death and the Joshua Tree

Written January 1, 2014

I'm just passing through
This tumbleweed town
Wondering why anyone would
Bother to stay around
When the truths that are spoken
By our mothers and fathers
Are lies told to quiet our fears
To quench the thirst
Of a man counting his years

So today is the day
When I'll be laid to waste
Buried beneath this cold dry sand
Where my father once made me the man that I am
So go tell the angel of death
He can have all that's left
I've nothing to fear in this world
Tell my wife and my child
Not to go and get riled
Up over an old useless man
With a feather in my cap and a gun in my hand
Whistling tunes of my favorite band

Now it's just me and Death
Whispering under our breaths
Shouting high to the mountains
And cursing regrets
Who will be the first
One to draw out his gun
But no matter the end that we meet
One's labeled a coward
And the other is knocked off his feet

It looks as if death has triumphed in jest
Believers and sinners have come to pay their respects
So Death please just leave them be
Crying beneath this Joshua tree

We went headlong into Joshua Tree,
      the four of us.

Flower maps, Del Taco stops, cigarette butts, and Steel Kettle
armed us through the hot desert air.

This was a time when my voice was lost,
that passionate pointing of your being.
I worked my way through the weekend like the cursor unguided,
      drifting across the computer screen.

And this was okay. We find things in the desert.
Traces of the forgotten, colors blooming from
endless rock and sand. Friendship and intimacy
playing like the praying of folded hands, fingers
of the landscape entwining with the fingers of man.

It all seemed so untouched, we felt,
as our own lives spilled out of us drip by drip
across the fire, seeking new bonds
and dropping old baggage, sparkling and crackling
      Into dark cool night.

The all-revealing sun in our mornings set sweltering
the space between our hairs, above our eyes,
within our speech, making slick and dizzy
our touching as we hiked, hopped,
      climbed, and perched unforgiving surfaces.

Back now, after the drive, the plane, the park-and-ride, and now the office...
my voice still fills a few feet from my body,
though now I know it's still with me,
naked, exposed and wanting as it was
laid out over the natural scars of the wild desert.
I heard it's call, I heard my name,
and knew all that I was, and am, and will ever be.

"Choose this day whom you shall serve,
but as for me and my house we will
serve the Lord." Joshua 24:15***

OH! You are truly free to choose this
Day whom you will serve. Although you
May choose to follow and worship other
Gods. And I am just as free not to
Join with you in your idolatry.***

OH! We each and every one of us has
A choice of the God's we will serve.
Our culture and our society choose
To worship the gods of silver and gold.
And to worship the human body beautiful.***

But as for me, even though I am only a
Household of one senior citizen. I have
Made my choice to follow Joshua's example
And serve the Lord of Hosts, the Creator
Of the heavens and the earth.***

Whether or not you choose to follow in
The footsteps of the Son of God and
The Son of Man is left up to each and
Every person living today on planet earth.
Some people are freer than others to choose.***

This is the facts now in evidence in countries:
That have not previously known the good news
Of Jesus Christ; are much more likely to receive
The good news with gladness and rejoicing!
They freely worship and freely praise the Lord***

As Lightning Strikes the Joshua Tree

When lightning strikes the Joshua tree
The air is frightfully clear.
The children quiet their
Jacks and Jump ropes
As the suburbia settles it's ears.
An ivy beneath a sycamore tree
Watching a fire with envy.

It wonders,
How on nature's rich, ripe earth
Is there a power
So quick to devour
The beauty and grace of a Joshua tree.
Why is it the branches crumble so
When Ivy's destruction is subtle and slow.
Why do fires spawn sputtered cries
When an English Ivy lays easy on the eyes.

A Mexican woman pours tears to the land.
She cries for the homeless
And weeps for the sand.
She mutters one word that no one will hear
She pleads that you feel it
Without dwindling fear.

When finally sleep comes
The children then stir
As they dream of a fire too bold to endure.
The woman will weep
As the fires grow.
She cries for the Joshua trees,
It's roots and it's leaves,
With a few tears for you,
And a couple for me.

Dotard Trumpery Handpicking Joshua Trump

Dotard Trumpery used to disgust the "ery" excrescence ending his surname,
for apocope he approached Megan Trump and poached her maiden name,
to which Joshua Trump, her son naming after her, dare no longer lay claim,
because from then on he was reduced to campus bullies' fair game.

Pretending to be placatory, Dotard Trumpery had to invite
Joshua Trump to the Slayer-Of-The-Union site.

Trumpery, standing on his rock-and-roll rostrum, spieled song and dance,
Trump, seated off his opposite nostrum, cast ahead no glance;
Trumpery, haranguing high, may presume to be contagious,
Trump, lolling low, just continued to be contumacious;
Trumpery, in skittish stance, legs to prance,
Trump, in stolid trance, his head askance;
Trumpery, right hot, opened his mouth to smear shutters with sputter soars,
Trump, left cold, shut his eyes lest they be crisscrossed by sordid sores.

Impersonating Trump, Trumpery violated Trump's right of name;
Impugned due to Trumpery,Trumpp suffered long dark campus time.
  trumpery blatherskite.

Joshua Tree

branches reach skyward like arms to Heaven
alone between sand and sun
waiting for an answer

Daniel Joshua and Jonah

Daniel Joshua and Jonah
(children's song music & lyrics by Joan Donnelly 1991)
Verse 1
Now Daniel was thrown to the Lions but he was in God's care
Daniel prayed to God three times a day and Jesus heard his prayer
Jesus locked the lion's jaw tight because Daniel did what was right
And the King arrived and set Daniel free ...safe in the King's arms Daniel did flee.

 Chorus 1:
You can now hear Daniel praising:
Oh Halleluiah, You scareded dat, awsul bad, maded me mad, that awsul bad lion away.

 Verse 2:
Now Jonah was a rebel who refused to obey
Then he woke up in the belly of a whale swimming 'round in his tears 3 days
God sent the whale to Nineveh where he spat Jonah out from his insides
Cuz Jonah said he'd obey God and spread the gospel to the Ninevites
Who turned from wickedness and God saved their hides

 Chorus 2:
Oh Halleluiah Jesus, Jonah sang, I love you
You opened the mouth of the whale and rescued me
Cuz I'm too good for blubber stew.

 Verse 3:
Now Joshua was an Israeli soldier and a gem to God was he
Joshua and army marched 'round the walls of Jericho 'til they tumbled supernaturally
And God never, never, never, never, never, never , never ignores those who repent and pray
Jesus sanctifies, and he purifies cuz He is the Light and the Truth and the Way.

 Chorus 3:
Oh Halleluiah Jesus I love You ooo hoo hoo hoo
Oh Halleluiah I love You, I love You, I love You

Joshua

Just as a man
Of joy and laughter not filled within
Speak not of the pain and destruction you felt
Held it in all these years...why, we could have helped
Up, we could have held you...but you never spoke of it, for this was unknown
All of it...all of it...none it known.

To Joshua

To My Dear Friend Joshua

Although the days seem soft and weary
Although this world can get tough and dreary
Although the cruelty is getting stronger
Although you feel you can’t take it any longer

There’s simplicity in the sunshine when we walk into the light
May your days be filled with the joy everyone deserves
The way life treats us may not always be right
We must accept the bumps and curves

Even if the darkness overshadows the sky
Even if my liveliness can’t tell you why
Even if you need unpretentious praise
Even if you don’t ask throughout the day

I know that joy is given freely through friendly conversation
happy smiles can be worn whenever the heck we wish
If someone feels they need dear confirmation
I will definitely be here to assist
