Iridescent Dad
He’d known life, death and murder,
In our bloody war,
He had a group of followers,
Coming round to visit, for,
He’d take you in off the street,
And feed you, give you bed,
He’d fix your sick animal,
Yes an amateur vet,
My Father was a charmer,
Always full of common sense,
We never feared no harm,
with him in our defence,
The vacumn when he died,
was so immense,
He would have had the last word,
but he’s gone and jumped the fence.

Contest Name IRIDESCENT
Smooth like glass the ground slithers all along
The beat goes down the street singing a song
Surface delights to even the roughest
Slipping, sliding enacting the toughest
Colors reflecting all throughout the way
Making the wet road seem cold in the day
Breaking down the path, hard surface below
Open ways to freedom, which shine and glow
Not a grey moment is felt here today
Sunlight blares and sends the water astray
The path still holds its glossy appearance
Lending a great image, leaving a trance
The path shines with an iridescent sheen
Letting us to venture down the best seen

God, I am overwhelmed within me,
But you are merciful everlastingly
You release your sincere spirit of shameless serenity
And you wash me thoroughly with it wholeheartedly,
For I've been lost for many a year
I must grin in gladness ear to ear
Fill my bathtub with cheer,
Oh waters of Aphradere
I am content, but down low once more…
I've been brought low, but what for?
I have been troublesome to the core,
For change has been a challenging chore
Engulf yourself into the iridescent island of haven
Eager to reach the highest point in this darksome den
Empathy is in your elevating eyes of mirth
Escape with me to paradise, away from Earth
Drowning in the waters of Aphradere
What's been lost has been lost for many a year
I want to get out of here…
I want to get out of here…
Drowning in the waters of Aphradere
What's been lost can be found, my darling dear
I want to get out of here…
I want to get out of here…
Cheer up, oh sorrowful waters...waters...
Paint a smile upon your sons and daughters
You utter words of wisdom and it gushes so beautifully and oh so bright
You utter words of lost love and it brushes against me day and night
I am disheartened by the removal of your heart against my own
I am discouraged by the disapproval of our togetherness and making very little progress in the making in this bottomless mess
I am on my own in the woods of my meandering mind, feeling alone
I am disdained by the departure of our happiness, abandoned and left behind in the wilderness of meaningless distress
Drowning in the waters of Aphradere
What's been lost has been lost for many a year
I want to get out of here…
I want to get out of here…
Drowning in the waters of Aphradere
What's been lost can be found, my darling dear
I want to get out of here…
I want to get out of here…
I fear for you, my dear…
Shed not a single tear…
Words were meant to fill the grief-stricken solitude
So, let go and let live...
Waters draw near as we meet our mesmerizing interlude
Let happiness and hope appear
Steer your way out of turbulent seas of Aphradere
It’s cold
It snowed
I shivered
I shoveled
A Solstice sun
Silently smirked
Iridescent icicles
Licked their lips
A crunch of crusted snow
Battled the scritch of shovels
Headless snowmen
Wandered in wonder
I shoveled
I shivered
It snowed
It’s cold
I am certain to move
so you may see
deeper shades of me
see me from
shadows shades
or light rays
Blink your eyes and
I will change.
And If by chance you
position of your sight
you'd see black at a glance
in a different light.
Blue black
Purple black
turquoise-black
brown-black
reddish rustic black
beige black
yellow -tan black
stone black.
Move your eyes
see the colors of
A rainbow
from a different angle
iridescent
Black
am I.
Displaying a
spectrum of colours
liken to a black Grackle.
On closer examine
You will see accents;
Of every color imagined.
Deeply embedded in
the plumage of
my feathers entwined.
I am IRIDESCENT.
Only seven years old but always bullied and hurt,
A constant string of hurtful names others would blurt,
Wondered how I’d ever get through grade three,
Figured that was the way life would always be.
Until Mrs. Shrum my teacher spoke up one day,
She made me feel important in such a special way.
Giving me duties that only the best students got,
Making the bullies look and feel like a sorry lot.
She wrote many glowing praises in my report card,
Stating of my behaviour she held the greatest regard.
I was kind and considerate, a great asset to the class,
Self-esteem grew from the compliments I did amass.
Mrs. Shrum made me shine and sparkle like a gem,
Only positive feedback, she would never condemn.
This wonderful teacher proved to be truly iridescent,
I believe because of her, I was not a troubled adolescent.

Is an understatement
No, seriously
a great big Genghis Khan kinda understatement
The way my man shines
is more like greens in casinos
hustlin' off hellifinos
protecting the I knows
of lights that speak clearly
'neath blankets of truth.

Iridescent rain
Only drop created by
Sunbeam on new rain
Iridescent tear
One tear created by words
Hateful hurting words
At the highest point,
The suns iridescent rays swing back and forth in a steady rhythm against a backdrop of yellow, Brown and green hues.
I agree quietly without protest with all that surrounds me;
And I've been hypnotized by the inimitable view.
As the model of perfection declines in power;
My steps follow the leaf hidden path as the shrouded canopy beckons me to join the dance of the falling leaves.
With the meeting place set and the theme of a waltz;
We awaits he accompaniment if the wind.
The intermittent music flows in and out of the canopy as It increased in power with each bar it plays.
It dispels a great number of supple hues to me.
Acting suddenly without thought;
I lift my face skyward and accentuate the stretch If my arms and My body shifts continually as it keeps the rhythm of each bend and bow the canopy displays to me.
Each bow relinquishes a rain of leaves simultaneously and yet seperately do they turn, spin and swirl to the harmonious time as they seem to forever dance with me.

Iridescent Colours
Winds whip, murkiness masks the blue,
Pearlescent clouds hurry,
Birds raise their pitch to suffused hue,
Whole scene appears blurry,
The coherent torrential flow,
Pellucids opaline,
Iridescent hues in rainbow,
Brewed to get perfect wine!

Madly Iridescent
By Rick Rucker
My wife had told me about her boss,
That, to not meet her, would be my loss,
I stopped by to see my Honey,
Something silly, like to give her money,
She said, as long as I was there,
She would introduce me to “Mad”, in her office, there,
Madeline was her real name,
Around my house, she had some fame,
My wife was willing to offer a bet,
That Mad could walk on water, without getting wet!
My wife was not given to hyperbole,
But she was understating, to a great degree!
Mad was wearing a necklace, and rings,
I furtively tried to see if she had Wings!
Not mere flattery,
She had more power than a battery!
It was impossible to define,
But I was intoxicated, and I had not drunk any wine,
On that day, my Life was changed,
All that I had built, was rearranged!
Feeling like a scene from “The Bishop’s Wife,”
She became, what she called, “my second wife,”
Mad played “Dudley”, the Angel that had been sent here,
To show the way, the path clear,
She and I were completely Platonic,
But for me, she was a tonic,
Her contagious effervescence,
And her Magical iridescence,
Changed my Life for all time,
Awakened feelings, so sublime!
Though I am of this Earth,
She multiplied my feelings of self worth,
Mad moved away, my wife died,
Over both things, I have cried,
But she made me more,
Than I ever had been before,
Her memory kept me going through the darkest night,
With that Otherworldly light,
Perhaps, her job here,
To get me through, the Loss and Fear,
To keep me looking for what I have found,
The most glorious Love around!
And when I meet my Ultimate Fate,
I know that there will be a guide, at the Pearly Gate,
Of Pure Spirit, an Angelic essence,
With that Heavenly iridescence!

Damselfly respite.
Basking feast on bobbed wire,
The sun warms; next, flight.
