Best Influence Poems
In a state of awareness
that transcends time and distance
I swaddled you in the folds of my being
feeling the pure bliss of being saturated in love
I poured my love out for you -
sweet dreams gifted in silvery streams
as I held your tender breath to my breast..
that you were beautifully oblivious
only served to further enthrall my exalted emotions
and your innocent influence acted upon my destiny.

Sometimes I think
I would love you more
if I was still drinking.
And then I decipher the code:
I would love you more
if I still loved myself less.

One man’s capacity to enlighten
Has always made an impression on me
His words absorbed, perception is heightened
Yet he has no academic degree
While driving his truck, he contemplated
Truths that most of us spend lifetimes seeking
With all walks of life he integrated
Listened closely as others were speaking
He was receptive to words from the heart
Dismissing the carnal mind’s illusions
A modern prophet, wisdom to impart
He helps us to find precepts’ conclusions
If doubt existed, there’s now evidence
One man’s life can carry great influence

Your
allure
draws
the tide
to the shore.
Ripples
sigh
secrets
of the sea;
lyrical love
sweeps and seeps..
as stars
like
fireflies
wow the skies,
a moon-
beam
gilds the
waves.

Verse
“Your honor, after consulting with the District Attorney, we have agreed to a plea bargain agreement. The father, mother and sisters of the victim have requested that in lieu of a jail sentence, justice would better be served if my client be ordered to pay only restitution which would include the following”...
Walk back to that street
Crawl inside that wreck
Feel his last heartbeat
Touch his broken neck
Wake up in their dream
Face their blackest fears
Hear his mother scream
Weep their wretched tears
Stumble through their haze
Hate their morning lights
Trudge through empty days
Dread their sleepless nights
Cower on their edge
Hear their demons hiss
Slip upon their ledge
Fall in their abyss
Toe the line you crossed
Bear the cross you made
Lose what they have lost
Pay the price they paid

Tonight I’m going to drink until I drown
I screw the cork from the Castle Rock
And here I go again, scribbling words down
The feelings linger, but yet can’t be found
My heart still hasn't learned to walk
Tonight I’m going to drink until I drown
Someday I’m going to drive to her town
I’m gonna’ go up to her door and knock
And here I go again, scribbling words down
I’m wasted and my mind is nowhere around
The ticks and tocks are falling from the clock
Tonight I’m going to drink until I drown
Dylan’s music was her perfect sound
She wrote all his lyrics down with chalk
And here I go again, scribbling words down
She was always my dearest proper noun
But she threw away the only key to her lock
Tonight I’m going to drink until I drown
And here I go again, scribbling words down

Honey,
why do alcohol-baptized Christians
develop addictions to oil-and-gas extractive economics?
I don't know, dear.
Perhaps the same reason that THC agnostics
sprout SierraClub cooperative political memberships?

Cradle garden faithfully, free her petals.
Pluck bouquet and playfully tend her, kiss her.
Praise her beauty soulfully - stem and fragrance.

Sapphic stanza
Her gentle touch, words left unspoken, a mother's love is never broken. Inside her womb, a beating heart, began and bloomed, you got your start. Witness to you, as you drew a first breath, she is ever present, not severed by death. Her influence on your life, those things she taught, will always be there in memory and thought. Although her spirit had to depart, her love will always live on, with
in your heart.

Hydrangea Influence
Pull of gravity drawn on the senses, hydrangea scent
Fragrance bliss, orgasmic burst, flowering forth
Explains beauty one petal at a time in naked white
Flavors come on nasal whiffs in flight
Fragile buds nod to blossoms under the glacial moon
Delicately delicious invisible friends seen once again
Spread up ahead on garden paths
On wings of spring
Past the river, nature at its best begins
When growing wild in the woods
Blossoms form, born perfect just in time
Birth of aroma, breath inhales, forgets to let it go
Love on the stem and leaves fill up imaginations
Displayed on gray days, nature dances, pollen laughs
Garden mesmerized, on its knees, satiated under breeze
Earth submits, to the tease, seasons color strokes
Memory knows flowers from the dirt
Moves the Earth to drink it in
Discerning, blown open, flirting with the wind
Without a voice without a sound on softer ground
Spoken only on the breeze in leisure
Tranquil undergrowth abounds
Honey layered, thick as lust
Purer than a woman’s womb
Thrusting forth perfumes
Hydrangeas fill the need of spring
Shimmer under moon light in naked white
Light up mid night for those who want to know
Aromas are not allowed to lie in flower beds
They seek out noses on their own and spread
Hydrangeas know exactly what to do
While filling up exhausted souls, exhaling truth
Before the beauty, love comes first

Free verse
They gathered there that fateful night,
To discuss the plans of a wondrous flight,
That would take them far from chains that bind,
Where freedom is more than thoughts of the mind.
But, an air of uncertainty filled the hall,
And the penalty for treason meant death to all,
That gathered there to pen their name,
On that parchment of independence proclaimed.
Then a bold voice cried, "Sign My Friends!
For that document tells of the rights of men,
Whose souls have a yearning to be free,
To search for their dreams and destiny.
And God has given us this great land.
What more do we need to understand,
That to fight and die for a noble cause,
Is a grand opportunity if ever was."
Yes, the strangers voice rang loud and clear,
As he spoke to their hearts more than the ear.
Then he fell with exhaustion into his chair,
And when some ran to thank him, he was not there.
Though the door was bolted and a guard stood strong,
It seemed that the stranger had vanished, was gone.
But, the words he spoke were like bolts of light,
And all in attendance knew he was right.
Then they signed their names without a fear,
And seventeen seventy-six was the year.
Yes, they'd taken the bull by the horns,
And in that moment a nation was born.

Rhyme
Hold me in your eyes,
look upon me in tender interlude
embrace me in the center of your dawning light.
Let your essence speak
and whisper sweet nothings
- or - stirring somethings
to my soul
the power and purity of your poetry thrills me!
Awaken my being with a new palette
of mellow musings
and watercolor whimsies.
Plant virgin taste buds to bloom anew
to taste life, as if, for the first time
reborn, with a constant craving of never getting enough.
To make pearls out of grit
is to make sorrow and hardship a thing of beauty.

Have you ever seen a good girl gone bad
Is it wrong to try to put someone on the right path
Have you ever known a young boy that turn mad
Do you know what it's like to have a corrupt heart
Can you picture yourself being a imperfect flower
No one would want to be next to you
The bees would disown you for your color
And you wouldn't know what to do
They say love can be a spiritual path
But to me love is not good for the heart
It can be so influence like alcohol
And lead to your downfall
No one plan to follow a bad influence
Its those who care does leave a impact in a sense

Sonnet
Virgin breezes sweep through our distant white curtains
A cluster of candles lit our shadows silhouetting two
Purposeful detainment-
Soft conjoined lips breathe warmth throughout our bodies
Lovers are we spilling fever into each others eyes
Tepid souls gently flow ribbons of pleasure
Familiar aromas and tastes hang in mouths
Carry me weak into the light of your love
Forever-restless abiding love drenched in eagerness
Rapture, devotion, intimately in the arms of ivy needing
Moments turn to hours of a spell building
Lets ride into the unknown and never turn back
Standing still in love
Never turning away.
Capture us in a bubble floating in the seas of time
Seahorses bow, fairies sparkling dust departing violet streams of what we grew
Inspired by John Heck's love contest!
