The Mind’s Cornfield

Dreaming deeply on this dark, dank, frigid-cold night,
My spirit-body walks freely in this place of solitude—
The Mind’s Cornfield, where fantasy and reality are one.

In this place, free from mortal constraints and strife,
One can see and speak to spirits of those now dead,
And to those whose souls wander around aimlessly.

These spirits know of my still-mortal connection to
The earthly plane and are sometimes confused by my
Wandering presence with them in this vast cornfield.

I believe these spirits sense a form of hidden conflict
In my own spiritual body manifested perhaps by a
Tragic event impacting my soul from a former life.

I have learned over time there are others like me who
Are still mortally-connected to our human world, but
Who choose to walk about in this place of solitude.

Questions abound: Why does this netherworld exist?
What is its true purpose? Will the wandering spirits
Move on? Will they find the peace they are seeking?

And with this—I wake up again and find myself centric
In this mortal world of human creatures who are made
In the very keen, like-image of Almighty God Himself.

I can’t help but feel a psychic-style influence with this
Image of a mental cornfield in the chasm of one’s mind.
The soul’s bond to the ethereal world may be the key.

Situations like this call for a real mystical awareness of
How one thinks, what one sees, and what one perceives—
In this finite mortal world that defines us as human beings.

Premium Member The Zest of a Boy

He toddles toward the pebbles, tumbling the smooth stones over
in his four year old palms, rubbing them like Aladdin’s lamp, tossing
them back into the mix, impishly shining with the zest of a boy.

He sees the overflow of snowy petals, finds the lowest hanging
stem, the gardenia bends to touch his greenhorn nose. Forever
that scent will remind him of grandma’s garden like she remembers

the tubes of trumpet petals in her own grandparents’ backyard. A
twinkle of tremulous joy impacting the fingers of her and her siblings.
The rare treat of parties, the round table laughter, heartfelt antiquity.

The boy explodes from the bottom of the driveway into the steep
mossy front yard, feeling each measured bounce, ne’er a straight
path to the door, exploring the red and yellow roses, the crumbling

timbers, walking the wall, following scurrying lizards, stepping on
ants, a roving eye for the fearful red, yet no thought of turtle monsters
nor copperheads that have precariously occupied my property,

nor coyotes that have encroached the boundaries. Unboundless energy,
nerve, verve of a courageous man in the making, trampling his feet,
owning the property then oh so gently snapping a stem, handing

his childhood princess a gift, pulling strings of a puppet’s heart,
winding the twine like pulling in a windswept kite, ever learning
nuances of my mind, tucked away to love, rebell and trust.

Panes of Glass

Panes of glass in my soul divide me from my past
Portals that serve as the windows into my future
Yet clearly distort the visions of my present tense

Frosty panes on the periphery of my vision ahead
Wavy, hazy rain streaked dusty and cracked obscure
Coats the window with grime from the road’s voyage

Mirror to the rear shows the receding ways taken
Those paths not chosen, not explored, detoured away
May suggest that the views now studied would differ

Is that better or worse or simply not the same as today?
But if we took another voyage down alternative highways
Would the panes show us the same in the mirror behind?

As water drops seek the same path from here to there
Newton’s laws joining the same river from diverse streams
Would I still see a similar vista as our paths converge?

Or is this expedition uniquely dependent upon our fate
Decorated with the dusty mud and stones of the road taken
Always different but the same as forever in its timely physics

Like a door passed through, does light pass in transiting a pane
Glass clear or hazy, bending the beams into prisms of color
Yesterday impacting on how I steer my life into tomorrow

Come along for the ride, sit next to me and call out the road signs
Enjoy your view and wipe away the frosted breath so I can see
Our vistas may not be the same, but I can still turn and see you

“A flower of strange beauty, growing in a desolate spot, and blossoming in the wind.”
                         — Nathaniel Hawthorne

Blooming zinnias, swaying in the breeze,
          Elegance attracting
      cute little hummingbirds with ease,
                    Hues impacting;

Lemon yellow butterflies flit around,
          Collecting sweet nectar,
Zinnias stand tall in the ground,
                    Sole protector;

Hearts flutter at the sight of these flowers,
          Cheerfully spread good vibes,
Small, yet potent, they have powers
                    no tongue describes.

The Power of Faith In God: All We Do Is Win

We are women of impact confident and assured
Courageous and fearless who know the score
We have been set aside to accomplish lofty goals
And because of our faith we've been called to take control
Women destined for greatness effective and ensured
Women impacting change now and forevermore

But in order to be a woman of God you must remove all doubt
And know the power of your faith in God will always work it out
#All we do is win with God by our sides
Victory is guaranteed no excuses nor we tried
For without faith it's impossible to even achieve
All that you're destined for and all that you'll receive

Just don't allow the world's moral compass which has gone astray
To convict you and convince you to sin and to stray
Now ready to stir up the gift that God has bestowed to you
#All We Do is win as long as we stay faithful and true

Covid-19 Diary

I started a Corona diary
today, recording what is happening,
and how it’s impacting my family,
as we adhere to social distancing.

There’s more than just one minor risk involved,
that causes us to give this germ wide berth,
to mitigate this problem, not yet solved,
impacting every life on planet Earth.

Most stores are closed, and factories are si-
lent, in a fateful effort to preserve
all lives, both young and old, as we apply
new rules, in hopes to flatten out the curve.

So, here I am ensconcing with my wife,
recording Covid’s changes to my life.

Ponder the lengthy life of our planet
Here we are for only a bitty blink
Many creative creatures now span it
Each having hardly enough time to think

Seemingly senseless gnashing of the truth
Turning it all about and running round
Silently stopping, then there's just poof
Leaving little trifling traces to be found

Funny how flawed and frail we all are
Never knowing what will nudge us next
Mostly seeking some silly thrills thus far
Impacting human lives to small effect

We were wondering who will carry on
Without warning we poof, then we're gone

United We Stand

UNITED WE STAND

United, We Stand;
One indivisible African nation,
Nurturing, growing, developing, expanding, impacting, uplifting.
We stand, we tower, we rule.

We are Africa;
Nigeria, Liberia, Algeria,
Zimbabwe, Zambia, Namibia,
Libya, Uganda, Rwanda,
We are one.

United, we stand
To break the bonds
Of corruption and tyranny.
United, we stand
To rout the enemies of our peace.
United, we stand
To build and expand our frontiers.
United, we stand
In pride, dignity, solidarity.
United, we stand
As the unshakable monolith- Kilimanjaro.
We will stand as one
In the midst of a troubled continent.

Our young will soar high,
Our streams will flow wide.
Our flocks will multiply,
Our crops will satisfy,
Our gold will beautify.
Our land, this great land,
This Africa of incredible magnificence will dazzle the world.

Together we join our hands
Standing on the mountain crest;
Black Africans, white Africans,
Joy on our faces,
Looking up, looking far
To the brightness of our rising.

Impacting Pollution

In the rising sun,
Coming down by the mountains,
Echoes the sirens of seas.
Teaming with all life
Were clouds of foul defilement
Shifting torrents to crimson...

Metal vessel floats,
Tainting with slow corruption;
Flora, fauna, disruption...

Hopeful sakura
With leaves falling, vanishing;
Whales sprawling from erosions.
Trying to forestall,
From corrosions nature squalls.
Dying, perishing pleura...

Premium Member John Calvin - God's Man 1509-1564

John Calvin one I greatly admire
a man God set apart in His will
turning His mind and heart
and by His spirit full He did fill

This man once obedient to Rome
now transformed by Christ His king
for he was indeed God's man
purposing glory for God to bring

Although born a French man
he was to be Geneva's own son
reforming the Swiss capital by God's truth
the reformation really had begun

To be this man would be great
spreading forth God's gospel sound
impacting Europe for many centuries
but able to stay humbly heaven bound

To live and stay among such beauty
Switzerland is my favourite land
would feel so privileged and honoured
if God had made this His will to stand

AUTHOR NOTES:I am content to be who I am but if I could have been anyone
else in history it would be the great Geneva reformer John Calvin (1509-1564),
so thought I would write some thoughts on this hero of the faith.

Storytelling

The gentle watery flow smashing against the ragged rocks.
The snowcap mountains nestled against the bluest sky
wisps of a soft breeze whispering against the blushing cheek
unanticipatory verbiage impacting emotions

to thine own self be true
to rhyme without rhythm
to eat, to pray, to love

the best of times, the worst of times
the state of an era,
the unpredictable elipses

the improper but appropriate pause
inflection for reflection
brilliant salutations

morphemes
contractions
exclamatory fragments

Freedom within thought
freedom to express
Once upon a time ...
it was a dark and stormy night.
Of man's first disobedience ...
We hold these truths to be self-evident...

learned growth,
long journeys into the lost world
satisfaction at the close of the book.

artful, impacting, storytelling.

Thank you Father for this beautiful day you have bestowed

Heavenly bliss shine in this earthly body

Amazing grace of Your blessings lift us up

Neighbour to neighbour we share Your love

Kindly fulfilling our lives, our eyes focused on Your kingdom

Serving You with obedience, spreading Your word in confidence

Giving You thanks in this day and everyday

Inspiring many along the way

Vibrant in You as we grow our gifts and talents

Impacting many more in this journey

Never forgetting your mercies

Gracefully singing to You, songs of praise

Lies Are Wise

Uncomfortable confronting
your continuous consumption to which you're accustomed,
the crunch, the chew, it's all you do,
most munch at lunch while you the whole day through,
can't get a grip like a hug holding you
but when you sip it's a diet brew
no added sugar and calories are few,
but many saturated fats are stacked
impacting with gross growth of fat sacks,
so you boom take up too much room
and stay still through sore joints you feel
as you can't conceal spare tires that spill.

You've an ahss with a difference
surpassing any ahss in existence
by a significant distance
with its significant distance
disappearing in the distance
to France and French Resistance
wanting removal in an instance
with intense insistence .

To lose weight you need to move mate.

Eat less move more, it works for sure,
though at first a chore
instead of bursting out you'll once more
fit through the door,
and not resemble a dinosaur,
the sore-thighs-and-a-sore-ahss-eyesore-osaurus.

All four storeys of your inglorious
girth awkwardly bulges before us,
taunting as you pass us at speeds
outclassed by a passed its best tortoise,
a daunting and torturous sight
for our poor eyes that sore
at size you can't ignore
as your broad and soaring baggy core
drags flab and more flab along the floor.

To dine all the time like an assembly line
from 9 to 9 makes you the widest of mankind
with a need to wear a wide load sign on your behind,
eating on repeat
until you can't see your feet
or get out of that seat
while hoarding heat
roasting in rotation
as a gravitational orbit results,
these insults should install motivational mass
to counterweight your morbid oversized ahss,
… so yes your ahss looks fat since you asked.

Realise she hates guys that tell lies, she cries,
so I told her she's oversized and learnt lies are wise,
don't tell her she's wide from side to side or in her thighs,
cus her size cry makes her lies cry look a lie, lies are wise.

A Dream

I had once gone to a place in Ghana.
In that distant land of beautiful dreams
I stood on the banks of the River Ankobra.
Watch rapids navigate the upper streams.

I followed the rush and roar as they switch.
With grandeur bliss and scary grave mists
I sought in mine and found another twist.
Threatening surprise, in trips, and slips.

A dream unseen, trapped inside the night.
With relentless demon doze trying to hide
outside there, to seek the love of my life.
With anxious eyes of the tears, she cried.

The unseen weight in fate began lifting.
Paralyzed parenthesis whose grip is weak,
Disturbing symptoms, fearfully impacting.
Serenity trying to avoid the chiding defeat.

Waking from sleep that was pure and sweet,
Peace had cheered me with a lovely dream.
But stealers of dreams leave scars of defeat.
For hope, to fill the visions we have seen.

As a weary bird seeking a place to rest
To cool her warmth adventurous breath.
She lent her eager head upon my sore chest.
And share the cold night breeze with death.

Worth Noting

5/9/22

Let me change my toning
Skills mastered and others still honing
I am not droning
People to this day passed away from a stoning
Continually condoning
With no cease to cloning
It's become often and corroding
Occasionally exploding
All the while a struggle to break through the coding
Something worth noting
It's harmful not beneficial, yet constant doting
Still too much gloating
Evil agendas many have been secretly promoting
Originally got to the spot by boating
Then thrown overboard now saturated and soaking
The body would be floating
Due to bloating
But it was weighed down from others hoping
It'd never see the light of day, or an investigation probing

More or less
Cause and effect
Correct, I'm still pot smoking
Go ahead and ask me how my battle with alcohol is going
I start dozing
From overdosing
Little if any good that did like loafing
And postponing
As well as screens always loading

It's a joke, no I'm not joking
Still adding fuel to the fire with prodding and poking
Eventually leading to a struggle involved with choking
For one party the outcome was croaking

A process of life and death, living or decomposing
All this goading
And foreboding
Opportunity remains yet the door is closing
Either after it or just ogling
It's pathetic or engrossing
Having to do with an article of clothing
Or a sharp point dipped in a toxic coating
Meanwhile maniacal egos they're stroking
No I'm not joking
Like all the boasting
Is there such a thing as safety when danger is always approaching?

Treated like garbage it's gross to me
In the end it always benefits them mostly
Just the truth, not looking at it morosely
Homie
Pay attention closely
Instead of overlooking it all like it's bologna

Regardless of it being clear, rainy or snowing
The wind calm or harshly blowing
You're out of the loop or knowing
Impacting how waters are flowing
Endlessly on it's growing
Radioactive and glowing
Causing harm with no chance of slowing
This is what evidence has been showing

Whether or not it is the time of gloaming
To this day still roaming
It's worldwide not just in Wyoming
Like a rabid beast at the mouth foaming
Toward their desires always combing
With missiles that are homing
