Green Or Golden Age

When was that golden age for which you yearn?
A perfect Eden? where we’d yet to learn
To conquer and to dominate the land
And Mother Nature held the upper hand
Did Earth confer a blessing or disdain?
When life for most held hunger fear and pain

Would you prefer to work from dawn ‘til night
To barely feed your own if there’s no blight
Would we not take from Earth its carbon treasure
That might then be our choice - resulting measure
A living: hard and brutish till truncated
Though Earth crust exploitation be abated

In wave on wave wild nature vectors veer
Forever repetitious changes steer
A cyclic challenge we may seek to stay
In vain protest against eternal fray
Though we must face, confront all strife revealed
Why inculpate what cannot be repealed

What if that blessed life-affirming vapour
That all green life on Earth has need to savour
With increase, plants and trees the more to nourish
Unintended consequence: all life to flourish
How ironic: that which many seek to ban
Could bring a golden age to life of man

Chosen subject for contest: Energy dependancy

Golden Age

Golden days of youthful frolicking remembrance
As I lie upon my bed and wonder the time
Watching as my LOVE of life deteriorates into a villianous pain
Alzheimers destroys her mind; abuse and lethargy curse her actions
Hate and destruction spew from a dry well of memories
Time stands still in this room three sixteen until the end of days
Family doesn't want to see her emotional outburst
Visitations become less frequent, nurses are jaded to offer hope
Talks of transfering the "patient" into a special facility
Remove the problem from our mist....we can't be bothered with her outburst
In this room is the shell of a life...once lived according to her plans
Memories live on in the descendants when time can find peace again....

Premium Member Hero Sheep: the Golden Age of Wool

In days of old when knights were bold and dungeons were dug deep
Widely renowned back then was found, a race of hero sheep
These sheep were strong, these sheep were tough,
these sheep were eight feet tallAnd lots of very useful stuff was knitted from their wool

The wool was strong, and woven long to any length was able
To out perform the tensile strength of any modern cable
While nimble hands, pulled finer strands from out that noble flock
Which taut, sufficed to cleanly slice deep through the toughest rock

Those sheep were prized, and many wise men kept their woolly kind
Twas said the bleating of those sheep would stimulate the mind
The wonders that those sheepies wrought, would fill a hundred lists
And fueled a boom for work by loom and wool technologists

They found that wool, if tightly bound would not only float
But closely weaved and interleaved, could make a woolly boat
While natural grease, gleaned from that fleece, if applied just right
Succeeded to fulfil the need to make it watertight.

So woolly fleets sailed ancient seas, to ply the trade in wool
Till pirates knitted cannons, to fire woollen cannonballs
And so, therefore, a woolly war broke out throughout the world
The war was short, but keenly fought where woollen sails unfurled

The brief wool war had one deep flaw, though everyone was willing
For woolly blades, however made, are little use for killing.
This one defect completely wrecked the wool age upward trend
And so the golden age of wool came to a sudden end.

Much like the setting sun
Whose golden rays to us all enfold
I enter the promised land of gold
To live all the fun.
It’s golden age I’m told
My teeth and I sleep not together
And my eyes lay bedside like my father
Like many who become old.
Then my head may spin
My voice shaky and my limbs weak
I am wrinkled and faster is my heartbeat
It’s the shape I am in.
But some may be fine
Though I limp and fight blood sugar
And breathe with a wheeze and grow feebler
And my sun may not shine.
In my boyhood joys I recall
Though hopes and dreams stole my sleep
Love had a meaning for ever to be
With family and friends and all.
The past lies in the present
Like birth, one must prepare the end
The methods that those above send
But why life cannot be reset?

Beauty of a Golden Age

Inside a silent tomb
rests a woman,
who is wound up
like the way a spider
winds a fly. The priests,
with white robes
and the eye of Ra
glittering on their chests,
wound her with spells
that wouldn't let her soul
be consumed by time.
Time slowly creeps like a spider,
slowly opening up its jaws
to people and things who are
easily forgotten.
As Pharaoh's daughter,
and favorite of the Nile gods,
time would never fade
away her memorable beauty
and charm written on her tomb's
walls, with writings of immortality....

Golden Age

golden flecks and reflected light

float slowly to the base

caught in hands reaching high

and splash against my face

painting my skin a golder tint

washing cares away

i give them my time to spend

and lay down in their grave

Death of the Golden Age

Blank faces droning on while senseless words
reverberate through the waves.....
Education is dead. DEAD I say.
But still they flock like blackened crows
to a pile of rotten flesh.
The minds today are like rusted gears
flaking at every turn.
No Room for Pointless study.
Reality exists within a plasma filled box
hanging on the water-stained wall.
Literature is just a remnant of a
lost generation.
A vestige.
An appendix,
an organ now useless and ignored.

Golden Age Book Club

mandatory monopoly to teach kids a business sense
life long school writing career to help set up your children for success
filing cabinets for councellors to read through
to help your children reach their aspirations
by grade 12 the book edited and presented to the market

anyone can do this
writing a book to heal the mind
pick 5 or 7 names
write descriptive nonsense about them everyday
and don't bother putting it in order

Paying attention to your themes
realise when you have a breakthrough write
then rewrite that story

the miracle of the womb of dreams
women's intuition of an infants first introduction to it's creator
mom a subconcious prophet who just doesn't know
freud of the denial of sexual knowledge
jung of psychological awareness
all ties together learning to think through emotion
due to discomfort of heat and hunger

A gift to the world i have given you an oracle
sending the soldiers of god
walking the globe in circles to their enlightenment
by mastermining your war efforts
you can make war impossible
cities with their own magnetic poles strategically placed
the order of the compas points different for each quadrant of the world

The second generation Internet
pending approval before it is viewable
Bank robbing police in my backyard
its almost time for your funeral

Telling the well people to build an arc
just in case
you like to travel anyway
something better to do than poison your children
and repeat unpleasant mistakes
mandatory firefighting enlistments
preparing for droughts and floods
the war of our world v.s the wrath of mother nature
fought hard with the plan to end famine

still wondering about the missing priests
who allowed criminal refuge
children the victoms in one way
adults recieving the wrong sermon

Richy rich calling scotland yard
many of my dreams have been stolen
would like to go have tea with the queen
welcome to the Next level
the game of making ones life unfair
studied to induce suicide through psychology
waiting for you to come into my life to give me a gun
thinking i might fall for your good intentions
i won't
that much poison in my veigns
bank robbing police
if there is a problem solving this mystery
you just might attend some of the worst case scenarias
i have been living

Golden Age of Summer

Golden age of summer,
spent in a small
Iowa town where
I used to slumber.

So many summers ago
spending magic moments
with my old pal shep
at the old swimming hole.

Rexall drug store
will never forget such
a place to go for
a 25 cent malt and
so much more.

Where did you go
golden age of summer?
Dearly miss you so.

Sitting with grandmother
in the golden age of summer
on her front porch
talking with each other,

loved her so sincerely
as golden age of summer
left me with just memories
so has old grandma
who I loved so dearly.

What a picture this does bring
having reached this golden age
many decades has passed through
dance like one free from life's cage

Having lived and loved all this time
unbroken from many a storm
being forgiven so hold no grudges
raises you high above the norm

Let one's voice raise the roof
no matter what's in or out of tune
be free so joy sounds abound
living as if all the years June

O to feel and know of heaven
down here effecting every day
nothing but goodness and mercy
makes one always want to stay

These golden years has reached to fill
us with experience of ages past
glory in pleasures been given
to live each day as our last

(this is based on the following quote)

'DANCE as though no one is watching

LOVE as though you've never been hurt

SING as though no one can hear you

LIVE as though heaven is on earth' - Anon.

A Golden Age

A camelot on the horizon, ending a Viet Nam war, fallen walls and Soviet Union collapse, while the people dreamed on, in the midst of food shortages, starvation and death, loss of home and hearth and the promises of change amidst the Afghan push and independent rule for land and possessions, tighting the hold over the popukace.

People though, are creatures of habit, wealth comes at a cost, then power and greed seek more control until... one party rule without obstacles alone survive the intimadation and lie, truth ground to dust, given in to the ruling class, the loudest voice, self centered, preserved by the dollar sign, the elephants in the room.

A golden age, full of golden dreams and hopes of golden years,
promiseof streets paved with gold inlays and paths worthy of taking,
possibilities that faded with the times, mere memories now
of what could have been, would have been, should have been
had we only stayed the course.

My ramblings on the changing times.

The Golden Age

Craft the world that be a stage
Vibrant vines in poisoned ivy
Creeping up these walls...
Watermarks pointing towards
Their progression; this thirst
Upon your knees please
Then you can read; except ?
Washing away the taste
A tear to soothe their numb
Release this becoming...
Make-up; lights camera action
That's a wrap; then, fade to black.

Thanks to Rockabilly being wed to R & B,
History changed drastically when Rock became mainstream.
Elvis crooned and moved his hips. Girls began to scream.

Goodness Gracious, Great Balls of Fire – sang out Jerry Lee.
Old folks didn't like to think that Rock was here to stay.
Little Richard, Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens: Color didn’t matter.
Drifting into Swinging 60’s, new styles had their day.
Even those who sang Folk Rock got a lot of chatter,
Not to mention Britain’s Beatles and the Rolling Stones.

A lot of singers made it big, at times inspiring clones.
Getting high on LSD went along with Psychedelic Rock.
Era-ending were performances at famed Woodstock.

Oh, how tragic was the loss of Hendrix, Joplin; Morrison too.
From then on, Rock kept changing as its fan base grew.

Memories I have as best are from the early Seventies.
Ubiquitous were bell bottoms, and you could still see hippies.
Singles of Kinks' "Lola," the Eagles' or 3 Dog Night's songs, and more
I’d go out and buy. I also liked some Soft Rock like Badfinger or Bread.
Colorful was my world. Then Disco came. The 70’s was dead!
