The flower that is given little light
tastes not enough of joy and cannot thrive -
then fades away like dusk into the night.
The soul who struggles just to stay alive -
much like the flower wilting in the dark -
tastes not enough of joy and cannot thrive.
How can a fire be lit if there’s no spark?
Without hope’s gleam, the soul will waste away -
much like the flower wilting in the dark.
This is the plight of one whose world is grey:
Though others say a paradise exists -
without hope's gleam, the soul will waste away.
A man upon this earth who tastes no bliss
is like a soul brought low who droops his head
though others say a paradise exists.
How sad that someone rather would be dead!
The flower that is given little light
is like a soul brought low who droops his head,
then fades away . . . like dusk into the night.

Unspoken dream glints summer’s amber eve
Caressing sweet musings longings appease
Where motifs of romance ecstasies weave
When requited desires strum twilight breeze
Buoyant blows season’s mirth lilting lush glee
When blazing rendezvous emotions churn
Courting heart’s appeal in indulgent plea
Where blossoms of bliss fond fantasies yearn
Beholden to your glance when heavens glow
How do the robins know to trill your song
And wooing night's fervor where passions go
Why does flirting moon always come along
Believe me, my dear, goddess of love knows
Though secrets of hearts she’ll never disclose

Sonnet
When I look into your eyes
I see the shadow of the moon
cascading with all our dreams of tommorow
I see a glow that no other can contest
a gleam of hope dangling thru my night
delivering me peace
of mind
lying amongst your brilliance
when those diamonds crest
and the glimmer streaks are smooth
I'll be hanging out
wishing upon your star
waiting for your heart
to stop then soothe
my appreciation
holding you real close
in an ever entwining
midnight dance enticing
symphonic seductive tune

She'd had her round in Life's blighting furnace,
Where stealthy wear and age blurred her face.
Dents shot where dreamy dimples had grown,
Lightning smiles usurped by involuntary frown.
In her livelier turns by Midas' glowing shores,
She galloped and gleamed like grated brass.
Time’s grim cankers fell on the rarefied feast
Of the cutest eye ever cast on envious glass.
If as a reincarnated phoenix's her gone grin
Could twirl and morph into its erstwhile arc,
She’d anon repulse her timing nemesis’ sin,
And give her faded glories an eternal spark.
Bereft of that fairy fowl's sheen-saving magic,
She’d to inevitably brave decay's stoic scythe.
Merry rhyme sung her sweet charms to mimic
Faded to ethers wherein dead beauties writhe.
No looker who her earth-blemished visage espies,
Can know she was the fairest star in kindlier skies.

The midnight stars still gleam:
and the dark sky just beams
with the light bouncing off the stream
by the end of the night it always seems
as the day goes by the light controls my dreams

She still has that gleam in her eyes..
The only surety in life is change, that's the reality ,and time has ensured that whether we like it or not we all have to endure ..but one thing never changes is that gleam in her eyes.
After age, now bordering 90years, though time has removed alot of her near memories, though when you look carefully you see nothing but that gleam..
She stares into nothingness, not exactly sure what goes through her mind at this stage..
But I do know there is a gleam in her eyes whenever she looks at me, with her exclamation of " I didn't know you were here?" And her eyes alight " where is my little man?.."
"Tahh..."..
She still can't remember my son's name..
But there is a gleam in her eyes..
When she recounts ,days of old ,of stories some untold, but passed through the generations..
Why I can tell everything from Jamaicas past, from tram cars, to bustamante sweets, from Louise Bennett to Mass Ran..
And then there is that gleam, as she stares in the skies , exclaiming how beautiful the day is, to her ,the sun is always shining, with a little bit of haze, and a cool breeze..
Then there is that gleam in her eyes as she devours one of many mangoes , some times I think she forgets that she just had 1/2 doz..but she does so with that gleam ..in her eyes..
With that gleam in her eyes she remembers the birthday dates of all her siblings, not remembering that they have all left her, and await her,
But she does so with that gleam in her eyes,
Then when she receives a call from a sister,a friend a nurse.. by the way she is affectionately called nurse.. ..she squeals like a little girl ..
But then in the next 10mins there after remembers no one had called,
But with that gleam in her eyes..
I look at her now, I stare into those eyes, she smiles ,stares back , says nothing ,but does so, with a gleam in her eyes..

Within the heart where vibrant waves
Rise and fall to ocean’s test
Many ships through reflected light
Steadily steer till they are blessed....
Ashore their stands a bright light house
like a mountain looming tall
and guides the ships if they are right
or are drifting away at all...
When lost between misleading waves
they try to steer the righteous way
the golden glow then rescues them
as tides change with glistening spray....
When these waves rest in peace
as each ship swiftly sails the sea
with all its might, the gleam of light
haloes the heart's true destiny...

I've always wanted to be a light that shined bright, I've always desired that my light leads someone away from the dark, and I show them the light to my true heart hoping that the people I love don't tear it apart.
Sometimes I often wonder what happens to a light when it loses it's shine I often say to myself will my light be remembered, or will my light fade away into obscurity before it was time these are questions that I send up to God knowing that he'll answer when it is time.
There are a lot of times when my light does it's best thinking in the dark, there are times when darkness guides my light to it's truest gleam and I cry and pray that I do not tear apart my star crossed dreams at their heavenly created seams.
Trying not to get tracked by the brightest of the alluring lights, the flashing bulbs, and all the desires of my undecided heart the only thing that i've ever wanted to do was show the world my art and express to other star trying to find their way like me my heart.
Not wanting to pierce my star and cut off my star's air, scar it and make it bleed, showing my honest pain while on this wicked earth i'm a star with a gleam just trying to find something of worth and remove all the hurt before my star sees the sky when it and it's light finally touches the sky.

What a quiz-filled existence!
Blunt surprises form essence;
Flowers full-bloom yesterday,
Fade and fall and mix the mud today...!
Kith and kin sweet-tasting once,
Turn bitter and cause nuisance;
Glamour gone face flits and flips,
Stiffness surrounds nerves and bones; pain grips;
Wealth is spent in waning health,
Secrets shared often in stealth;
Riddles in internal bounce,
Restlessness, often, patience renounce...!
I take things, yet, lightly... yes,
Why should live in ceaseless stress?
I've designed my pretty tomb,
My coffin looks like my mother's womb...!

Verse
Oh, Lord, it rends my soul to give
this wish--desire--full away,
Not clinging to a piece of hope;
A piece that says, "Perhaps someday..."
For now the thing--so frightening clear--
Is to release it dark and full
and keep no sliver-thought of me,
Though giving leaves a gaping hole.
Desire--oh, how sharp the spears
of joy that haunt this favorite dream.
But am I Yours enough to push
this treasure toward Your altar's gleam?
The thund'ring toss of straining mind.
The clashing knowledge: this is right.
The heart's own cry: "Oh please, not yet!"
The beckon of Your fire bright.
No looking back, no holding on,
I watch my treasure dance in flame.
And then I feel inside my soul
The power of your tender Name.
I've given what was dearest mine
But just before the wound bleeds free
You staunch the flow and catch my heart
And with Your Lover's arms hold me.
What looks as ash is only just
the dust from which Your plans arise
And though I feel the burning here
I know the mercy in Your eyes.

When at first we met, I was drawn to
your high self-esteem.
So many goals, you were aiming high
and you dared to dream.
Thanks to me, you've been awakened
to your present state.
Your weakened mind is unable to depict any emotion,
be it love or hate.
I began mocking you, the frustration was so unbearable
you broke down and became depressed
Now, you couldn't even last a week without me
your mind in a state of utter distress.
Can you even look back to when you were a portrayer
of clean living and good health?
You used to think up such nonsense
you were just deluding yourself.
Sometimes I think maybe I've gone too far
when I watch you
during my little episodes
of self-denial.
I'm just growing bored as I watch you
sitting there calmly rocking,
with your blank stare
and ungleaming smile.

The pools of water on the pavement gleam
Reflect the colours of the shops and cars
Giving us a feeling all’s serene
As I walk I wander and daydream
I sit on an old wall, the moss like hair
The pools of water on the pavement gleam
I invent a sentence and a theme
Will I forget before I have gone far
Taking back the feeling all’s serene?
I notice how the old wall seems to lean
To risk perception is a fear we share
The pools of water on the pavement gleam
I feel the moss ,I love the colour scheme
I love the texture with my hand unbared
Giving me a feeling all’s serene
Each lovely brick is different yet is fair
Evoking in my mind the sacred word
The pools of water on the pavement gleam
A light rain falls and this world feels serene

gleam in ale,
a glass of dark brew happiness
served on a marble bar ;
frothy inebriant,
a tickle to his moustache,
grown over moon's pass
juggled with solar heat
across the heaven's street, blue sky.
gleam in ale,
a froth for drowning
mumbles and grumbles
of life
a glass of dark brew happiness.
