Sweet morning

Golden beams of new rising aubade,
Fade away earlier day's weary jade,

An aura that fills the room with first ray,
Gear up yourself for bright brand new day,

First chirp of sparrows and clear blue sky,
Darkness flees, ending the night's spy,

Sunflowers bow their head to sunrise,
Roses and white lilies in garden add to surprise,

Fresh ideas in mind and a hearty zing,
Welcome another hopeful sweet morning !

Asighd From Sighence

Ah, sighence, indeed quite a puzzly puzzle.
The hypothermical leaves you chilly with a muzzle.
Solvent? I think not,
Stirring up the pot,
Overflow of info, gear up you better guzzle.

Narwhal and a Narwhal-Contest

Narwhal And A Narwhal

Saw the caption of a narwhal and reflected over it
A room for warrior community of north India in poesy?
Was intrigued by the chosen name yet slept over it

It remained there like my mocking mirror
Tweaking me to gear up to put on my armour
Held my quilled sword charted out my action plan
Learnt what a narwhal is, its modus operandi of survival

Its images made me burst into a gregarious laughter
Its poems created a ripple of sorts to tickle my bones
Narwhal and a narwhal for sure are clones!

One in the Arctic and the other in Asia
One underwater and the other on earth
One looks like a whale the other a whale of a heart

The arctic has a toothy tusk grown out of head
The asian has a tusky sword round his waist
The tusk dives deep into frozen water
The sword dives deep into the betrayer

Both the clan protectors live in pods
Attuned to honest truths and energised in empathy
A smooth exterior unless the hierarchical swords are clanging

A unicorn and a grower of corn gormandize on fishy delights
The mythical spirit and the earthly spirit
Embody healing power and if unloved
These loveless souls die in captivity

Barbagello Raceway.

We live in a place
Just up from the track
Barbagello raceway it be
The cars and the bikes
They race there all day
And this is exciting to me.

Every weekend
They gear up their motors
Making din that disturbs all around
But me, I just love it
Oh, I really I do
From these races such joy can be found.

The wonderful roar
That these motors create
Oh, how it thrills me to bits
Bikes are my favourites
But I love the cars too
I adore it, I love all of it.

When weekend is over
Everything goes so quiet
Until the next time comes along
And me, I can’t wait
I love it, it’s great
The noise makes my heart sing a song

Stepping Out

Like the first day of school,
The first step is the scariest.
You were born to be remarkable,
And altogether incomparable.

Don’t you dare punk out,
By running in fear and doubt.
Gear up and step up to plate,
Trust yourself and be great.

Step out of your comfort zone,
Life is tougher in the red zone.
Don’t be afraid to take a chance,
Even if you only get a glance.

If you have the passion to dream,
Develop the desire to succeed.
Get out there and make it happen.
It’s time to put your dreams into action.

Trying To Hold Sand

Isn’t it funny, when you think you’ve finally found what you were looking for
Things begin to slip but you try to preserve that perfect picture some more
Life starts showing it’s true colour and the perfect picture starts to blur out
But You still believe things can go back to normal with no doubt

But the more you catch, the more it slips out
darkness grows, hope weakens and your life takes a different route
The more you hope, the more you drown
You are lost, hopeless but you know you can’t look down

You lost a part of you and no you can never be the same
things went south but there’s no one to blame
You must wakeup every morning like nothing’s wrong
You have to gear up and try to stay strong

whatelse can you do?
Things are already wrong, your heart is all blue
Whatelse is left to be done?
Just Stay strong cause you know you can’t run….

Pushing For Success

In the aftermath of any competition, be it sports or otherwise...
We will see a gamut of emotions in the mass of humanity in sight..

There will be riotous screams of joy and jubilation, laughter and smiles galore..
Fist pumps and high fives, happy faces all around at the victorious camp.....

We readily quip, to the victor the spoils of a victory most deserving...
To the losers we empathise and wish them better luck next time...

To be fair, all players deserve recognition for there was none who participated just to lose...
So if we downplay any successes, it is not doing justice by the best efforts of our children...

Every junior player, we can safely assume, he/she has done the best possible...
Look at the blood, sweat and tears each time they train and play their hearts out...

Those who achieve personal bests and better their rankings, congratulations!
Those who falter, train and work harder, gear up and go for the next competition...

Wishin' I Was Fishin'

I sure am missin' fishin'
Sittin' by a stream
A cooler full of colas
Livin' out a dream

The gentle, lazing waters
Slowly driftin' by
I watch my bobber floatin'
And I can only sigh

I reel it in and cast again
Against the currents flow
Then settle back to watch it drift
With dangling bait below

I stare up at the clouds above
And hum a little tune
When time is right, I'll eat a bite
Probably 'round noon

Again I reel my line in
To check upon my bait
To see if I still had some
Or see if it was ate

When day is done at settin' sun
I pack my things away
I go to pick my rod up
When suddenly, "OH, HEY!"

The rod was bent like crescent moon
Engaging tug of war
The battle raged twixed fish and me
From water to the shore

When I became the victor
I grabbed him by the mouth
And held him high for me to see
Then something came about

How could I have done this?
I set a baited hook
For unsuspecting innocence
Whose life I nearly took

I held it up once more
And looked at it with pride
I didn't fish from hunger
So I won't be why he died

I did it for the sport
Like boxers in the ring
I kissed him and I let him go
Back into the stream

That being done I gave a smile
Knowin' I did right
I loaded all my gear up
And drove into the night

Snow Day Memories

Do you remember the thrill of excitement you felt when waking up and finding out it was a snow day?

You were impatient for breakfast to be over, so that you could gear up in your snow suit & head outside to play in the wondrous winter wonderland.

All of the neighborhood kids would be out and there would be a terrific snowball fight (with snowballs flying from one side of the street to the other), sledding down the local hill, making snow forts and snow angels.

Sometimes you would end up in a competition with other neighborhood kids to see who could build the coolest snowman.

After a couple of hours being outdoors in the frigid cold, you would be feeling the cold right through your many layers of clothing & felt tuckered out from playing in the snow.

Then it would be time to head indoors: for a hot bath, some cozy pajamas and lunch.

Your snowsuit and mittens would be hanging up to dry somewhere in the kitchen. You couldn’t wait for a nice cup of hot cocoa, after your bath.

Lunch would be a snow day tradition of grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup.

After lunch, you would get all snuggled up on the couch to watch a movie or read.

Then, you might play board games with your siblings / friends before suppertime. All the while, watching the snowflakes fall silently down outside the window.

Wink

Give me a wink,
if you know what I'm saying
Give me a nod too
Don't let 'em think
that we know what we're doing ain't cool
Give 'em the old soft shoe
Yeah, hit 'em with the soft boot,
I love giving 'em the soft shoe
Geppeto 'em: gear up to peddle 'em
fake leather using phony flattery
Sell 'em the fake goods,
tell 'em what they wanna hear every time,
nobody ever said licking a sucker was a crime
That's right, give 'em the soft shoe,
they'll never know that they're being lied to
Just give me a wink,
and I won't have to say out loud
what we're really trying to do
And I'm gonna need you
to give me that nod too ...
So you can go and do
what we said we don't know nothing about
Then give 'em good misdirection,
paved whitewash coming out your mouth
Tell 'em that the train is headed up north,
but we be on the plane headed down south
When you be giving 'em the paid whitewash,
you gotta show those pearly teeth good
You gotta be smooth with your words,
looking glamourous like Hollywood
And Holly would ... if you give her the wink,
along with the nod
Always remember son,
never let 'em know what you really think ...
keep your peas in the pod
Put prying heifer eyes in their right place,
use the green cattle prod
And tell the hired hands, holding the hot iron brand,
you're gonna need that wink
and that gangster nod

Be the One

Life is all about our own insight
Creating joy ,smiles merging with delight
Get over , gear up and ready for fights
Be the One …… Don’t just make choice.

U know exactly who you are then anyone else
U are going to rise to the occasion nonetheless
Open your eyes and don’t just keep following someone’s voices
Be the one ….. don’t just keep making choices.

Be confident and have a belief that you are a choice of all
Be assured to be the one for being constantly scroll,
Choose your own destiny or else keep paying the prices
Be the one ….. don’t just keep making choices.

Conquer the ocean and catch the sky,
Bend all these rules made by a human spy
Widen the gallery of ur own thoughts and desires to eliminate your crises
Be the one ….. don’t just keep making choices.

Give hand for help to win souls and hearts
Stand differently from 1000 emotional perverts
Enhance believe, craziness and eradicate demises
Be the one …… Don’t just keeping picking choices.

You are the creator of your world so make it as u wish
Every second of it can suck or be a touch of bliss
Wake up now to know and conquer you own spices,
Be the One …. Don’t disgrace your pure soul by just making choices

Madd (So Sadd)

Grasp for the clutch,
(clutching on automatic
chances)
clench my jaw –
am I clutch?
no luck.

I gasp! (gassed)
the gas-tank tanked.
Tired I try,
but floppy tires
blunder
like a drove
of drunken thunderbirds.

“Gear up guy! Get some get-go!”
I exhaust, idle
and stammer,
grass spattered,
paint chips scattered,
brakes broke
and steering hammered -

destination
is going,
rear-view gone.

Turn my wheels (or my keys, at least).
Just don’t give me a brake.

Cat-Walking

Off to Kaduna my mind flies,
Off to Zaria my soul first alighted,
Gently ! Gently !! Gently !!!
Echoes the man behind the wheel.
He trudges on day-dreaming
Concerned not about our hues over cries
His pace was like that of a snoring bush pig.

We yawned , jawed but move up
Our faces full of displeasure
The Lagos lady banker took him up
As Alhaja and Alfas added flavour
Can he ever gear up even without bump?
Nothing changes his old leopard nature
I tried spice it up when I woke up
But to the face of him I met no favour
As he shrug off, and belt up
He returned to his snail-crawling seizure.

At the abysmal of his mind
He must be feigning fulfillment
Cat-walking at a speedometer of a tortoise
Fast like an archaic “Loko” train.
To the driver whose forehead reads . . .
And whose lips echoes endlessly
“Its better to be late than to be a late”
For a Life is duplicated not
Nothing is as sweet as cat walking
Snail-pacing in all sojourns.

Merely cat walked all thorough.
