Physical is the coat I wear-out
in the elements – the ephemeral
shell of me, and not the yoke, man's
embryo of spiritual wealth...longevity of
experience and immortal growth –

True! -- of the Eternal Now in my
biological years not one has convincingly
surfaced, risen above the depths of doubt
to undeniably attest, my only proof
the intimate echo of a heart-heard
voice, reciting from the velum of a
supposed soul, surfacing despite the negative
chatter of fatalists: lordly provocateurs
of fiery electrons, rejecting sparks
of individual ethereal sense: despite no two of
us ever proven exactly alike, each of us
the unlikely oddity of billions....
a mathematical contradiction that
can only be attributed to the reality
of a God....

Not Only Will I Touch the Hem of Your Garment

I’m flabbergasted at how the streets are thronged
Could You be the one for whom twelve years I’ve longed?
Oh say, a Physician like no other before seen?
Different from the kind to where I had been?
Could Your timing have been more impeccable?
And Your approach be more unbelievable?
But I’ll undoubtedly put the last of my trust in You
I have much to lose, yes, indeed that’s true
But out of options I’ve finally run
And now even money, I truly have none
So I will find my way to your garment
So You can put an end to this bloody ailment

With an old blood-stained dress
I start out and on I press
I hurry through the deafeningly noisy crowd
Each one giving a careless, yet imploring shout
And it feels like You move further
With every step I take to get closer
“Please, if You are the Saviour”, I think,
“help me to press on, for I’m at the brink
Of breaking down, about to forfeit
I’m helplessly at the mercy of defeat.”
Not only will I touch your garment
But You will make my life to Your goodness a testament

Finally, after pushing past the multitude, I see an open space
To my advantage, in the other direction, is turned His face
Unworthy I am, so I really do not have to talk to Him
All I truly need to do is swiftly touch His hem
The hem of the Saviour’s garment, that’s all I really need
And then from this sickening bondage of blood I’ll be freed
I touch His garment, and it really was not my intention
To in any way catch the Saviour’s attention
I find it strange that no change in me I see
Until that mysterious Physician spots me
And confirms soothingly to my soul
“…thy faith hath made thee whole.”

So not only will I touch the hem of Your garment swiftly
But I will praise You from the bottom of my heart sweetly
Not only will I touch the hem of Your garment as I said I would
But I will ever bear in my heart of hearts to my Saviour gratitude
Not only will I touch the hem of Your garment, but strife
I will, as I hold onto You, Lord, for dear life
Not only will I touch the hem of Your garment with my finger
But in Your presence I will overstay my welcome and persistently linger
Not only will I touch the hem of Your garment as scary
As it may seem, I will cling to You, oh, loving and lovable Redeemer of Calvary

Hem of the Garment

Pain, pain and pain, with never a pause,
Could I hear the sound of laughter?
Only around me and everywhere, but –
Never had I the chance to hear my own
Till that day, I heard Him coming!

Yelp, yelp and yelp of agony,
The ache and affliction through the years
Searched and groaned for healing someday
Hopes ‘n I shattered - this is destiny I greet,
Till that day, I saw the light of hope!

Cry, cry and cry, shedding the tears to dry
Had I mourned my sorrow out
Yet the torment within and out never fade
Never could I stop the flowing tears of mine
Till that day, my eyes had seen Him

Hope, hope and hope, I went through the crowd –
Of people crushing Him on every side
A few inches away from the healing
Stretched forth my hand to receive it –
On that day, I touched His garment hem!

Faith, faith and faith, filling my heart complete
Could I see my future, a happy me
With no pain and sorrow, no more tears to shed
But happy moments to surround me full
On that day, was I healed complete!

Fear, fear and fear struck me hard, hearing –
“Who art thou touched me? “ From him
Though his disciples said, people were –
All around Him, He knew He’d healed me,
On that day, though I thought it was in secret!

Joy, joy and joy, was I overwhelming with
Though I stood there afraid in front of Him –
And the confused crowd, He embraced me ‘n blessed,
I thought I found him first, but never had I realized –
Till that day, He had found me, in my mother’s womb!

                                                                       - Sarah Antony

Garment District

Cloth, clothing, garb, la ropa
Sure beats Prozac, or even L-Dopa

Hemming, cutting, measuring, looping
Snappy dress keeps those smiles from drooping

A blouse, a suit, a shirt, a shawl
Strange young tailor masters them all

‘Can’t wait! Must have! Quick! Hurry!’
‘No excuses, tailor, to you I’m judge and jury!’

Shame, fear, anger, doubt
Sorry, ma’am, those stains won’t come out!

If I Could Touch the Helm of Her Garment

My darling sat so sweetly like a contented woman
her crown was knitted with topaz and pure glistering gold
her succulent soft skin brought mad thoughts to his knees
her face was more glistering than the night stars
her lovable lofty hips eclipsed the sun!
her dear dear tongue was wetter than the fishes of the ocean
her eyebrows were more ravishing than the early morning sun
her kiss being smoother than early morning delicacies
her laps will sink the holiest of men into the quicksands of passion
her seat radiates even more of her beauty

she stood up with full blown beauty from her seat
swaying and shaking her hips from side to side
mesmerized by her ambience, my emotion dissolved like a candle wax
and I forgot how to breath
She looked at me carefully and smiled
I then dashed towards her like a resourceful idiot controlled by emotion
but she meandered and walked away
I sat helplessly crying like an orphaned infant bird
why should i lose one of the most beautiful things on earth?
if she would not allow me to hold her,
then let her allow me to touch the helm of her garment
for this alone could give me all I wanted

Who is this darling of mine?
She is peace! absolute peace!! total peace!!!
that gives one joy and keeps one from trouble, sorrow and tears!

Garment of Shame

As the sun goes to bed and
the moon awakes,
Hopes of many ..dashed as before,
I promised to set a different goal and pace,
To prevent the little flowers from the beetles,
But I allow my hands and legs to be incarcerated,

Blind folded by greed,
I don't know how to cover my face,
Shame swallows me,my heart beat
fluctuates more than a barometer,
"Lord! please save me",
From this egocentric world of betrayal,
Give me the antidote for this poison,
So that I can pull off
this garment of shame.

My soul bleeds and my hands shiver,
As my past words haunt me.

''Garment of Mine''

Colors of blue and yellow wrap me as I gaze toward the sun.
My white satin ruffles sway against the wind.
Is this not the most perfect day?
This I do know.
Sundress memories take me back to childhood.
Summer warmth on my back.
The silhouette of my sundress shadows the pavement.
I dance in harmony.

Another Garment

I've learned the colors of love
While wearing another flesh
I've been there
Beyond the forest
With large culverts
Among rays of light

Strange dreams
Rangers cutting the oaks
That support our last tears
You know, separation is
The same way, but in reverse
Same field with grass freshly mowed
Birds singing together
A sad romance

It's true, I believe in curses
When death crawls
Reaching shadows
We''ll all wear
Another garment

My anti-aesthetic garment spews out priest
Michael stands in river between olive trees
whose roots draw libido like Daphne's laurels
Apollo wore, in my drifting slumbering
pale Astro Projection where we meet again

Garment of Life

Garment of Life

Will you choose
The threads of love
To weave your garment of life?
Perhaps you'll only see
The strands of grey defeat
Wretched with sadness
And weave a garment too heavy to bear?
Or will you find the threads
Of life's passion
And weave a fiery garment
Of the brightest colours
In the gayest fashion?
Or will you seek
The soft yielding threads of peace
And weave a gossamer garment
Of seamless, silken bliss?

I am a man, not a boy, carrying the weight of maturity like a chosen garment,
I am a man with dreams and lofty ambitions, weaving my path among the stars with threads of desire,
I am a man with a gentle heart, in a strong body, but with a soul as vast as the ocean,
I am a unique man, with a sense of humor sharp as a sword of light, cutting through sadness.
I am a caring man, with a heart full of love, embracing the world with warmth,
I am a special man, guided by strong principles and a spirit of distinct brilliance,
I am a man who can conquer the world, carrying an air of mystery and magic in my gaze,
I am a man, gentle and unwavering in my loyalty to convictions and truths.
I am a man with abilities, always ready to fulfill my responsibilities with honor,
I am a man with a grand vision for life, like an artist painting his own destiny,
I am a man who guards secrets with trust, like a guardian of soulful mysteries,
I am a man, a true man with an inner strength that shines like a beacon in the night.
And by accepting myself as I am, no one should say that I am not what I am,
For in the stream of my consciousness, I find my identity like an old and precious song,
A melody flowing through my veins, carrying the story of a man who lives and feels,
A man who dances through time and space, with light steps and an open heart towards life.
