Where Mind Soul And Pen, Often Dance And Play

In a sad blindness, one may yet find hope
Sweet romance is in truth a healing balm
What in Life, can we truly ever hold
True to Heart, an old poet's solemn vow?

Drowned in passionate depths of our deep love
Come to me Love, so that tender heart swells
O' broken heart, tis now thy time to mend
In thy love-realm I would gladly live and die!

Caressing Virgin soil, with soft caring hands
I beg to yet again kiss thy sweet precious lips
As cool winds grace soft emerging twilight
Where Nature's beauty and man's design meet.

There Winter's lonely fallows deeply dream
Where weeping willows in silent peace grow
Seeds sprouted from deep within mother Earth
Fair maiden, forever this true love holds.

Wide eyes absorbing true magical scene
Waterfalls in rainbows where we shall play
I am laid bare, naked with nothing to hide
Shall we believe in that promise forsworn?

Robert J. Lindley, 8-27-2019
Verse

Note: This poem was composed from titles of my own poems, for the twenty title contest. Only after composing did I see that it was to be titles of other poet friends. Intended to rewrite but was very ill for several days, forgot and saw the contest closed before I could rewrite using my poet friends' poem titles. I wish I had read the contest instructions better, But still I decided to keep it as is and post it. My mistake but I had truly great fun going over hundreds of my poems to find these twenty titles.

Shade

You speak as if you've read all the pages.
All knowing; bestow yourself this grace.
Beneath that serenity lies an abandoned cage.
Don't try to hide what's scrawled across your face.
I've forsworn myself, now I'll tell the truth.
The only reason for love in this world is you.

Do you want to see my eyes shaded from the sun?
Take this love and concern from deep inside me.
Tear down these walls, show this damaged heart is done.
Prove it's not "you and I" and no longer "we."

A tomb is set in earth, shuddering beneath you.
A souvenir of your self-inflicted ascension.
Housing the victims you so lovingly slew,
Demons overtaken; yearning for redemption.

Please don't tell me it's wrong to keep holding on.
Don't say those feelings were never worth the fight.
Even when the pain is numbed and gone,
I'll still need and bleed to feel your sunlight.

Premium Member We Love To Embrace

In frangranced,dim,candlelight.
Where romance is not ever old.
And twinkling stars, appear at night,
That makes us warm and again, bold.

As our bodies reflect on the ceiling.
Years of love have been our guide
Looks of amour, are a blessed healing,
To journey on together on life’s ride.

Children blessed our many years.
We smile, grateful for the little we had
They brought us through our tears.
A home, pets, made us more than glad!

I recall our very first warm meeting,
Destiny at that minute was born.
Your eyes not for a second fleeting.
For all eternity, I was all yours, forsworn!

Apostrophe In Time

water weeps wildly
whilst washing away your
jesting foolery.
I saw the sun annihilated
	Against backdrops of liturgy
Lethargic activity that earns
It’s title as the Earth’s endearing child
Against backdrops of monogamy,
Pedestrian thinking,
	Accelerated usage,
Lapping up mentalities from bowls of pulled poultry,
Doing nothing for the Universe, Yet stealing all unities,
Dissention and green lights and babies birthed and apostrophes in time,
Influencing the way we work on thinking of ourselves as HUMANS, As people, not things.
Growths, from children to adults, the contortion of time, the peeling of fate, the sweet sugar coating like a scab on your life,
Bleeding out of your heart and seeing out of your eyes and feeling through your brain and feeling through your synapses.
Here are the producers of the broad way show of assimilation
Here are the problems, Here are the irregularities with the hole in the boat, But don’t worry everything is now under…
Black as a burn on white , yellow as a can of
	Cream, not yellow at all.
Not nothing but irregularities we perceive as
	Potential ingredients in life.
But in greed, is what we are, in need
Not so much, Thinking SO outside
Of the box, that the box has grown
Legs and walked away and has grown
A full beard and a full head of ideals.
And we are trapped outside of this fully
	Matured matron of mystic answers.
And we are pleading to God to be let
	back in...
But you know something, GOD IS IN THAT BOX TOO.
And you know something else, inside all of us
Is a little box opening when
It's ready to breed a plague of
	Insatiable urges.
A quest for self.
A journey through self.
Black and blue benches where a man sits,
	Breathing, he breathed.
Waiting for his anti-matter mother to annihilate him,
But less than he believes because anti-matter
Kills not what it touches, But what it needs to
	Kill itself.
A piano, might be boxy and Brute-Like
But might mean more than piano
	To you.
It might mean the 'end is nigh'
For music is the sound we hear to
	feel forsworn,
to feel filthy inside of ourselves.
GOOD, GOOD
But remember, the Doctor is here
And he is watching from inside
The box, and he's sitting over a cup of tea,
With GOD,
	       In that BOX

Premium Member Be Not Juliet

But fiction you are, our Juliet, unborn,
mere humans find love so hard to portray,
thus leading many to their death, astray,
fear not a Romeo is born each day.
Childless children be not to death forsworn.
Why leave the bloom of youth in this dark way?
To these false examples swear not, allay ...
these foolish gestures and stay unmourned.
What care true love for false sacrifice's knife
or petal poisons made by perverse form,
live and brave the days with courage cajoled.
Oh, waylay the cowards path, leave your grief,
for grief will come to all within life's storm;
live a full life linger for life is gold.

The First Time I Saw You

The first time that I
Saw you, I could not
Find the right words
To say

What I felt so deeply
Within my heart which
Outwardly on my face
Was now displayed

For the first moment
When I saw you, my
My mind was no longer
Mine

Finding as the seconds
Passed by quickly
I found myself losing
All track of time

I knew I would need
You near me, for it, felt
Like I would surely fall

And I was no longer the
Same person, for at the
First glimpse of you I
Was falling in love

I wanted to elude you
And time after time
I would surely try

For I never wanted to
To end up like a leaf,
Falling down from a
Tree branch up high

But you have captured
My fallen heart and
Your love would simply
Not let me be

I tried so hard to keep
Away from you, but our
Meeting was forsworn
By destiny

For the longer, I tried
To stay far away, the
Deeper would become my
Inner blues

And I found it harder to
Stay away because day and
Night I only thought of you

And the realization
Finally embraced me,
Informing my heart
Of its helpless plight

That only one option
Would be available to me,
I had to embrace your Love
To end my sleepless nights

And I sought you out
The next day diligently
With a fervent hope I
Could make you believe

That there would never
Be happiness in my life
Without your love always
Being a part of me.

April 1977, written
During the first week
I saw and met My wife.

Premium Member Last Christmas

Cards, ribbons, and bows tucked neatly aside,
Frosty and Santa warming their toes,
At home in the attic, they were our pride,
With the season's specials and television shows,
It was a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!

Take a hand, take a hand,
For everyone knows,
In a wintery wonderland,
With magic falling as it snows,
It's a gift to be opened once a year!

A stock of duckling and turkey kept for nibbles and snacks,
Frozen cheesecake and berries paired in the fridge,
New Year resolutions made as easy as stacks,
Of chips and cookies forsworn, to every crumb and smidge,
It was a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!

Take a hand, take a hand,
For everyone knows,
In a wintery wonderland,
With magic falling as it snows,
It's a gift to be opened once a year!

To buoy our hearts throughout the coming year,
Baubles, fragrances, and melodies become fixed as the stars,
To gaze at inwardly as though so very near,
Every day will hold its mystery, just like Venus and Mars,
It was a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!

This poem is dedicated to the One whose birthday we celebrate,
Jesus Christ, the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.

The song which this poem is based on is Christina Aguilera's "This Christmas"

Premium Member Still...Life

Still as a summer's morn
Still as the heart..love lorn
Still as the veiled dawn-
Still as a heart that mourns
Still as a portrait drawn
Stll as memories..time-worn-
Still as ambition...indrawn
Still as a promise...forsworn
Still as an idea...inborn.

The Memory Box

High in the closet,on the topmost shelf,
A plain paper box lies smothered in dust .
Inside, bits and pieces of life,
Strips of silk, binding fragile memories.
Spirits engaged in an endless dance,
Destiny's cord unsevered by circumstance.
Scattered images of unrenounced tenderness,
Tainted only by the musty scent of promises unfulfilled.
Priceless momentos of another time and place,
Just a plain paper box tucked safely away in forsworn silence.

LOVE PHRASIS part 1
A veiled dawn,alone,without strife
an absent dream,a love that
could never be,an allegory in a
simple code.a promise forsworn,
an ebbing tide, abandoned to the past.
This serenade of love.Passion’s word,
a haunting theme of the inexpressible
this play within a play, that secretes
selfless love,a passage of light to my
soul, and all was fine, beauty was asleep
innocence dead.

Love's Metamorphosis

Love unspoken, love that burns
Never gone, never wither
It lingers on every bated breathe
An invisible pain that never wane
A distant dream
Fleeting from within
Here lies the scar so dead
So do I love, you say
Why the haunt is here to stay?
Appease, dear love
What joys lie in fearful sorrow?
For a shadow brings no harm to tomorrow
Love is a constant in the variables
Love is a change in the certainty
These two tales are apart
A heart in stitches, once all tattered
A broken road, now amended
No love is a kind unless we love selfishly
So fret not, dear love
This love we grow
Is ours to keep and ours truly
Never gone, never wither
Love forsworn, love reborn

Ezekiel Reborn

There are hazards there,
to board imagination of another soul,
to probe behind the rocks along the way
and find too much, converting chill into reality—
there is the romance!

There too is desert, the wandering for years,
knowing that the self alone will dessicate
until there is another sacrifice,
another mingling of the blood there at the wrist,
forsworn to die as breath is dry upon the skin.

It is as much a ship's departure
blessed of the wind upon the back,
blessed to see the stars above the prow
and still detect the beating of a second heart
as passionate as mine to cease
its feckless thundering.

There is the time to seize the glory
of the second wind from out the east,
the second rising of the power of God
that lurked behind the cloud of innocence
to interpose its frailty
upon device, its patient magic
on the dryness of despair, the bones
of a forgotten day, connected still again
by two...and by that still outrageous gambit
forged of love.

Quiet Darkness

Quiet Darkness

Quiet darkness envelop me
winged intruder, lights dissolution
soar beyond day’s raucous din

Leave me in somber solitude
seek solace in myself, soul intact
beyond lacerating tongues

Reviling others call “nevermore, nevermore”
unwashed congregation, nor unholy pact
pull me from a life forsworn.
