Laser Focused

Red dot of light
Glides across the room
Must capture this intruder

She crouches down
Ready to attack
As the dot moves closer

Pouncing into action
She slides on the floor
But the dot eludes her again

Determination in her eyes
She attacks once more
With a fury of paw swipes

The dot disappears
She frantically glances around
But it is gone…

Defeated, she wanders to her food dish

A Focused Mind

How can you move ahead when life seems like it's at a standstill,
Moving mountains and moving hills.
Grinding day after day making this money,
Yet you're back at square one now isn't that funny.
Trying to provide a better life for you and yours,
While still maintaining your bills and chores.
Seems like nothing you do gets you ahead,
Keeps you awake at night when you're trying to go to bed.
Thinking to yourself is this as good as it gets,
I'm busting my ass and for that I have no regrets.
Wonder how life would be if you chose a different path,
So busy with work you barely have time to relax.
Hustling trying to get it all together,
So stressed it has left you feeling under the weather.
You've changed your life for the greater good,
You're living your life exactly how you should.
It's a struggle to stay on the straight and narrow,
But some people don't see that and if they did they wouldn't care though.
They overlook the dedication you have by working doubles,
You're at work instead of getting into trouble.
You feel like you're chained down,
All this working is running you into the ground.
You don't even have time to think,
You could lose your mind in a brink.
Worry, worry, worry, that's all you do,
This circle of life is harsh but true.
Make a plan and stick to it,
That way your life want be so frantic.
You started from the bottom and look at you now,
You managed to make it on your own somehow.
Nothing ever stays the same,
Even though it feels like life's playing one big game.
Don't let it distract you by giving in,
Keeping fighting until you win.
Anyone can do anything if you put your mind to it,
All it takes is determination and motivation,
That's what's going to get you to your final destination.
When the water settles and you can see clear,
You'll be glad you went through all the bull**** that led you here.

~ The One and Only~

Grounded, Focused

have to have had nothing
to appreciate something,
have to have had something
to know all you can lose,
have to know what can be lost,
in order to preserve,
have to preserve & sustain
so as to survive amidst the vultures,
have to know the vultures by the
way they wait,
have to wait & watch the eyes
staring back at you,
have to learn how to stare, have to
learn how to pull punches,
so as to keep cool when disaster comes &
operate accordingly.

Laser Beam Focused

Whichever the dream it is fundamental you remain

laser beam focused and not be downright confused

mumbling to yourself oblivious of voracious locusts

Retirement comes, I'm at loose ends,
But blessed to have some loyal friends
From work, from church, from family,
And tennis, gym less formally,
A men's group too for two decades,
My social life had no blockades.
I hadn't started writing yet,
So not so many friends from Net.

In gyms, I met folk quite devout
For staying fit and working out.
I'd never been an athlete,
At first, routines were quite a treat,
Pumped iron and swam and grew quite strong,
But pressed too hard and worked too long,
Was plagued in fact by injury,
This latest gig a misery.

Wrecked both my shoulders swimming laps,
The older prone to such mishaps?
I know this now but then naive,
Sought no advice, did not conceive
My older body worse for wear,
Would soon require high-priced repair!
Each shoulder took six months to mend,
One wiser might not want to spend.

A health investment worth the price,
But time regained, I'd seek advice,
Before pursuing fitness so,
More balance lead to healthy glow
(Though I don't make Charles Atlas proud.)
Dare I to say these words out loud?
Just health! What need have I for fame!
Let me be me, where is the shame?

Focused Love

Boys don't make passes at girls who wear glasses??

----------------------------------------Focussed Love-------------------
Her gorgeous eyes
jeopardize men,
in ties of love.

Glasses she wore
to abhor them,
ignore passes

Focused lens woo,
inside view deep
"I too love you".

Focused

Lord hangs onto me some serious mercy now,
I am aimed and directed aligned and straight.
Be it so or be it may I am that God given trait.
You will never once have to reveal for me how.

I tell the truth all I have to say about it is Wow!
If this isn’t just downright genius then it’s great.
I can only imagine what all this will soon create.
I must say for all this I shall indeed bend to bow.

A-men to every single one of you!
And praise your one supreme Lord!
You know, I knew I always knew!
My God, I am your flaming sword!

You know Lord; you can do whatever you want with that locust,
But I’m going to polish up on this sword keeping myself focused!

Walking Slow and Focused

I am a slow walker

But I never walk backwards.

I believe in those who
understands

That a journey of a thousand
year

Begins with just a step

And time will come when the
whole world

Will step aside for the son of
man

Who knows where he is
going.

Race Focused Groups

Why does Congress still have a Black Caucus?
Do we still need the N.A.A. C. P.?
Congress says we are all equal
The law says that everyone’s free
We would never allow a White Caucus
Although white is a minority
They can’t pursue unequal advancements
Though discrimination there be
So let’s drop these race focused groupings
Let’s put race issues back on the shelf
Let’s act like we really are equals
And let everyone fend for themselves!

Keep Your Eyes Focused-Mind-Upon Our Lord Jesus Christ

Just like… way back when…
On the Ship in Galilee…
Storm increasing… waves flowing-
Winds blowing…a catastrophe

Seeing in the distance…
There was a Spirit glowing…
Walking upon the water…
Peter… then… asking is it… YOU?

Jesus coming toward the ship
Peter asked… Jesus” I see… is that you?
Please… can I come walk too…??
Jesus replied… Come…

Peter eyes-mind- was Focused
On Jesus… Our Lord… “Gods’ Son”
Peter step-off the ship… started
Walking on the water…Just as Jesus had done

But then… strong wind…
Distraction and fear played…
Peters’ mind- eyes-
Was off of Jesus… Christ

Just a Split second..in time
Treachery… Fear…
Began to play… in Peters’ mind…
Then he found…he started… sinking down…
Into the sea of galilee…Jesus said “Ye Little Faith” (Believe)

Just like now a days…
When bad things come…are way
Just like Strong wind… like way back then…
Treachery… Fear… plays… in peoples’ minds-eyes

Keep Focused on Christ…
Be Set Free!!!

Keep Shining--No Matter What!!!

Focused Lines

Well today I find myself stretching again

Passed tests trials and wicked heart men

Playing games on courts

Who me no door

Shuts close with no reason

Freedom comes in season

Time gains its now

Hope despair somehow

Catches up with lost time

Almost lost the mind

Sandy winds in eyes

Differently to cry

Tears of joy to die

Old life renewed

All the reason to choose

Team won without rules

This dude thought slick was slick memo

Producer with no demo

Riding tires without a limo

Stage with out bingo

Won with out a song

Hidden revealed who won

Sitting in the audience tables have crumbs

Snatcher and catchers

ballplayers flipped done

First place without a stump

Hills with no humps

Helicopters blades with days

News casters who lie trilogy

Rain passed storms windy chilly

Seasons have reasons

Maps have overlaps

But people insecure run miles with no crap

Tell tales and stories with lies

Promises made with goodbyes

Pimping Easy prostitute pushed down made to cry

Die deaths streets with beats

Undercover paid service with creeps

Heep down with locks too

Blurred Lines tell lies too

Who wrote Gaye lines paid lines have paid too

Focused Haze

There are washes of colour
There are sounds that flit across my head
There are tastes of summer
There are winds to guide me from my bed

But now in darkness I sit
I breathe only in memories
Exhaling a new flame unlit
To reignite the old stories

The coarse smoke drifts aside
I pause in reality’s limbo
Inhaling I look inside
To the calm whisper of “right now”

Sunglasses, broken here and there
With deep brown eyes behind
Her harsh smoke begins to fill my air
Though I have no care to mind

The accent now I remember that
Its fragments burst in my ears
A certain warmth to it, in fact.
Shattering the illusion of fears

The wind picks up, the clouds roll in
The picture fades to grey
Then broken by a brighter light
The midday sky of May

A prize pair with ice cream cones
Sat talking in the sun
With not a care and happy tones
Watching the families and their fun

One with ice cream on his nose
Dressed in full black kit
The other in a hoodie green
Grey jeans to go with it

But the sun wears on, the laughter fades
The clouds now turn to night
It’s well past twelve the vision dims
Now I must find my light

So finally on broken ground
She turned to walk away
We then were weary from our work
So had little else to say

And through the dark I watched in vain
as alone, she walked her way
Before I called her name again
And beckoned her to stay

A warm hug in the cold night,
The final thing we did share
An embrace held in long and tight
To thaw the cruel night air

The vision fades black
Though now it is somewhat clear
And Pink Floyd rings in my head
“How I wish, how I wish you were here”

Focused

How do I stay focused

Is it like magic hocus pocus,

The distraction ways heavy on my mind

I try not to think about whom I could leave behind,

My goal is right here in front of me

How is it I can't see the forest for the trees,

It is there all in writing

So why does this seem that it is always about fighting,

I can't believe half of what I hear

I am tired of all that I fear,

Because either way it is a no way win situation

I shouldn't have to feel I'm in hesitation,

Due to people that should be out of my life forever

It is sad that I may deal with this craziness instead of never,

I just need to stay focused on my happiness

And not focus on those whom I could care a less.

Focused

He looked down and found me tarnished and worn.
He reached down and gathered me in.
He polished and cleaned, brought forth a new me,
and He even forgave my sin.
He gave me a heart that yearns just for Him,
and a peace that sits so serene.
I know by His grace i'll hold to a faith
in those things that cannot be seen.

I'll keep my eyes on the face of my Lord,
I'll cling to His nail scarred hand.
I'll place my burdens and cares at His feet.
On that solid Rock I will stand.
I will not faulter, nor will I fail,
I'll draw on His strength every day.
I'll always be a witness for Him,
   a disciple along life's way.

I know He will never foresake me,
   evermore with me He'll be
I know He will love me forever
   from now through eternity.
Helping me through the bad times
   watchfully caring for me.
Guiding and guarding and keeping,
   right through eternity.
