Footloose and Fancy-Free

It's so good to be fancy-free,
To just be me.
I sit beneath this big oak tree
Drinking wine, writing poetry.

No one to tell me, "Hurry up!"
I drink my wine in a coffee cup.
No one to tell me, "Shut up!"
I say what I please, I stand up.

It's good to be footloose
Without my neck in a noose.
Maybe I'm chunky in the caboose
But I know how to turn on the juice.

So take it from me,
Get yourself free.
Lose the noose.
Go naked and footloose!

Fancy Free

Down here you will see
The remains of Fergus McKenzie
Who wanted to live fancy free
Mrs. McKenzie didn't agree

My fancy isn’t costly
though sometimes it can be.
I fancy this; fancy that,
or at the drop of a hat,
I’ll fancy things TOO fancy.

Since I’ve not got lots of money,
if too costly is my fancy,
I’ll just make do, because it seems
some things I want remain as dreams
while I keep living fancy-free!!

Fancy Free

Forever I had dreamed of my “Happily Ever After” scene.
As a child, I became Snow White or Cinderella in my dreams.
Never had I imagined living all alone and fancy free!
Childhood fantasies included lots of children and tire swings.
Yesterdays dreams were replaced; my future was yet to be.

Friends married and drifted away; education reshaped life.
Reality kept me busy without an inclination to party although I was fancy free.
Eventually, biological clock ticked fast; then, came marriage, children, and more children!
Each day, as a senior, rare free moments dream of being fancy free.

Fancy-Free For Me

On the theme of fancy-free
I’ve no rules attached to me
Can write of nonsense if I choose
Or use a hippo as my muse

Can write all day or not at all
Or script about a bar room brawl
It’s fun to sometimes play the clown
With no constraints to weight me down

FANCY-FREE INNOCENCE

     fancy-free with poetic slippers,
zoetic zephyr on tippy-toes.
a ballerina schemes in untouched colors.

        words pop, revive,
                                      undaunted,
                                                         untainted.
streamers of ink with charismatic truths,

crown of free spirit, unfeignedly pulsating.
a poet whose heart glows in the dark -
an enigmatic spark, she’s a blue flame.
she’s like the teasing wind that rustles the wheat.
the virgin flame dances through black and white.

her full skirt flaunts a dynamic rainbow halo -

this enchanting paradigm, gypsy of paradise.
her hem never touches the ground,
                        hypnagogic hues transcend the soul.
Does the poet surrender her fancy-free innocence

to authority’s chains that long to claim her prize?
the autumn leaves, blow beautiful, o’er ground

she floats on zero gravity never landing.

What does it mean, the saying, 'fancy-free'?
   Perhaps, like Nature's pure tranquility...
unhindered choice to carry on, agree
in simple ways that rule Earth's land and sea?

Blue skies and clouds that drift by so carefree
   while winding streams meander endlessly;
or animals that thrive instinctively
   without confines that plague humanity?

Is that the meaning of this 'fancy-free',
or are those words mere wishful fantasy?
For even Nature's ruled by God's decree
of order with His law of gravity,

that makes Sun tether Earth and guarantee
she does not drift into eternity.
This 'fancy-free'...a dream or silly plea...
to want to live life uncommittedly?

Fancy Free Soul

Glitzy and starry gets all the attention
Even the worth is no more a chaff
Everyone needs that loud attraction
Yet I sit here simply folding my arms
Holding myself from all pretension
Not to please one for false adulation
And I stand alone in this mad race
For I am a Fancy Free Soul…
Happy to be simply myself
Wherever I go independence follows
No outer polish or decoration
The mirror of truth and satisfaction
I am a Fancy Free Soul…
Love me or Hate me I really don’t care
Fancy World can never understand
It’s difficult to be the one I am, I can
Living in a fancy world with fancy free smile.

For Fancy Free Contest.

George asked for a date,
supposing I’d wait
all day.
That morning at eight
I stood by my gate;
oy vey!
He called and said, “Mate.
I’ll be really late.
OK?”

His mate? I said, “Hey,
your style’s not the way
for me.
I’ll go to the bay
and find my friend Ray.
Then we
on jet skis will play.”
(Ray’s gay I’d not say.
Hee hee.)

Ray’s such a sweet pea.
We laughed with such glee,
then ate
buffet near the sea.
I sure wish that he
were straight!
But some things can’t be;
I stay fancy-free.
That’s fate!

(sure hope I did it right this time. My Virelai "Blue" was not done right)

Footloose and Fancy Free

Footloose as a child I played games
  dancing barefoot in the rain
  shoes were only restrictive pain;
too soon I grew
baring everything I was taught and knew
life and friends were a parting few remembered true.
Today I'm older wiser
  given to memories lost advisers
  with responsibility rising like a geyser;
taking hold of life
  in face of reality's spite
  surpassing the journey's strife.
In time I suppose
I'll slip into more easy repose
  and breathe in all taken and chose;
letting fancy free
be the surviving part of me
missed in youth drifting on the open sea.
For the time being
I'll love and laugh at all I'm seeing.

Footloose and fancy-free

All eight feet and not so sweet

                            That sneaky spider's bitten me

What a wild web to weave-

I never saw him... but believe!

                                I should've worn gloves,

                                       ole' silly goose

I didn't know that IT was loose

I got a bite from a brown recluse!

Today I'm feeling a little bit better

And writing my poetry friends this letter

If you go through boxes in your shed

Heed my warning of spider dread!

I've stopped my task I can't get done

Now dealing with this spider fun

Tho', I'd rather have fun in Disneyland

Than fight infection in my hand!!

Fancy-Free 5-25-17

I can’t get close to people,
I’m fancy-free.
I hide in the shadow of the steeple,
for eternity.
I see the world from my peep hole,
as my own VIP.
My brain is as sharp as a needle,
Yet my soul has abandoned me.

Fancy Free

Fancy free be
Freedom fancies thee
Your destiny to see
All that is free

Walk across the water
You can do it
Don’t stand on the fishes head
He wants to be free too, not dead

Walk on hot coal
Boil sin from your soul
Be free like me
I stand tall, solid as a rock bun
Take life a day at a time
Have fun

words hover through the air like music
the good the bad and the ugly
selected meticulously
to strike a chord
a mood
send a message
deep from the heart
meant to drive home a point
reach out to express to share a longing
in a whim committed thoughts
to paper lined in images
shared in a poem
rhyme
or be it fancy free
playful muse of the day
experimenting crafting words
game of wit or pageantry of emotion
