Footloose N Fancy Free

Footloose and fancy-free
                                 
                            All eight feet and not so sweet

                            That sneaky spider's bitten me

                              What a wild web to weave-
                           
                           I never saw him... but believe!

                                I should've worn gloves, 

                                       ole' silly goose

                            I didn't know that IT was loose

                          I got a bite from a brown recluse!

                         Today I'm feeling a little bit better

                      And writing my poetry friends this letter

                       If you go through boxes in your shed

                         Heed my warning of spider dread!

                       I've stopped my task I can't get done

                          Now dealing with this spider fun

                     Tho', I'd rather have fun in Disneyland

                         Than fight infection in my hand!!

I don't even see the movies made about them. Glad you are over the worst of the spider bite Bj Legros Kelley October 21, 2022 at 8:20 PM I loved those old comic books! I was lucky that my big brother had a job and would buy every new comic book that came out, I think they were pretty much my first readers because I devoured them when he was at school and work :) I was thrilled that there was another Betty in the Archies comic series, besides of course Betty Jo from Petticoat Junction, it was a comfort to me because I thought it was too old of a name, aka Betty Davis (but she was awesome!) and the like. All my friends had currently trending names. I think I will look and see if I can find any of those oldies, they would be fun to share with my grandbabies! :)

Bj Legros Kelley October 17, 2022 at 12:33 PM Yes, this is a very dangerous spider bite. When I went to urgent care she said if it got any worse I'd have to go to the hospital, and that I hope does not have to happen! I am on antibiotics and a topical antibiotic ointment but at least the horrible pain has subsided. I'm thinking lots of prayer would be nice! Ugh, I wish I'd been more careful!

I have never had a spider bite that I know about, but I have heard of a few around here. One man who we knew somewhat closely got bitten by a Black Widow. He said it was horrible. This one reads like a winner to me if for a contest. It has the element of surprise. Thanks for your delightful visit to my page. Sara Bj Legros Kelley October 17, 2022 at 12:18 PM I wish it were fictional, but no, its real. If only I had taken the warnings I've heard seriously. I did look for spiders, but I didn't see any. I've heard black widow bites are very painful, happily though, for a black widow bite there is anti-venom. The brown recluse has staff bacteria that they pass into a bite to their victim. Prayers would be super appreciated right now. It is scary.

In AZ we are so use to being around these things, knowing they generally avoid us more than we avoid them, we let our guard down. I was monkeying carelessly in the shed today -- you reminded me that I should have worn gloves. Praying for a speedy recovery. Blessings my friend! Bj Legros Kelley October 16, 2022 at 11:30 PM Thank you for your prayers, I need them! Yes, the southwest has a lot of things to beware of, and we do tend to forget. We actually had an exterminator come out a few weeks ago, and I was surprised to see a scorpion running back and forth across our back porch, and it seems with the monsoon rains the poison didn't stay too long and we will probably have to call him back. I sprayed peppermint oil in the yard, garage and shed, I shouldn't have trusted it as much as I did! Gloves, long sleeves, long pants and boots from now on! Or maybe a hazmat suit when going through the storage shed, I think I will have ptsd after this event!

I'm taking antibiotics and trying to stay ahead of the pain, Its super miserable. If only I had used gloves. The awful thing is, I didn't see it, so it is still around. I also figure, where there's one, there are probably more. I'm not a happy camper right now! It is looking better though, so I'm praying it heals quickly. My right hand too, this is so :( !

My son-in-law went to his storage shed yesterday and he saw worse slithering into the adjacent shed at the storage facility; a baby rattlesnake!! It was too young to have a rattler on its tail. Very scary!!
