Best Fa La Poems
My favorite word. . . now what could that be?
To choose it, I have to think so carefully.
If I choose by its meaning, I simply can’t find
one word most important; this boggles my mind.
My favorite word. Oh, how can I choose?
What if I go by the one I most use?
I’d have to choose something like “a,” “the” or “and.”
Such words are too boring and surely not grand.
My favorite word. Now here is a thought.
I love pretty words, so my favorite ought
to be one poetic! But such words abound.
I’ll narrow them down to my favorite sound!
Words spring to my mind such as eloquence,
splendid, bliss, and ephermal; hence,
there’s something inside each word I can tell
is similar. All of them have the sound L!
How lilting between vowels in words like “Aloha.”
How lively in Christmas refrains: Fa La La!
L is Luscious and Lissome. It has eLegance.
It’s Luna, Lavender, and Luminescence!
And now I’ve arrived at ONE word. It has wings!
Like a beautiful angel, this word I think sings!
It comes from the Bible; a woman of fame
had a bit longer form of this beautiful name.
Delilah – in Hebrew and Arabic too -
a name most delightful has been shortened to
LILAH! This simple name rolls off the tongue.
It’s a languishing lass, lovelorn and young.
Perhaps a touch sultry with light in her eyes!
Be it Lyla or Layla; I hear lullabyes
to lull me to Slumberland; my soul will take flight
on a dream word that means lovely girl of the night!

(I have written a few poems employing this name Lilah, one entitled
"Lilah of the Lilacs." If I had had a second daughter, I think Lilah would
have been my name for her! Also, I actually had a cat once that liked to
snip at our legs, so I had named her Lilah Vampira!)
Goth mood’s not right, not bright enough.
Fountain of sea, rapt in darkness.
Crepuscular ink blocks sunlight.
The cursive waves doth strain the wrist.
Fa-la-la rhymes, leaping and lowing.
Counting the black sheep - times not slowing.
Fountain of sea, deep in darkness.
Coarse keys, ivory black, musing.
The cursive waves doth strain the wrist.
Resist of playful sounds - thirsting.
Fa-la-la rhymes, leaping and lowing.
Counting the black sheep - times not slowing.
Coarse keys, ivory black, musing,
and refusing to budge - lines spurn.
Resist of playful sounds - thirsting.
The burn hisses and squeals; smudges.
Fa-la-la rhymes, leaping and lowing.
Counting the black sheep - times not slowing.
And refusing to budge, lines spurn.
Crepuscular ink blocks sunlight.
The burn hisses and squeals; smudges.
Goth mood’s not right, not bright enough.
The Yule Tide Sights (Sight)
It’s tinsel, ornaments and lights,
The Yule Tide sights all people love:
Bright yellows, reds, and greens and whites;
It’s tinsel, ornaments and lights
We yearn to see December nights -
Delights we all never tire of!
It’s tinsel, ornaments and lights,
The Yule Tide sights all people love.
The Gladdening (Hearing)
As bells go ring-a-ling-a-ling,
And old St. Nick goes, “Ho, ho, ho,”
The people’s hearts are gladdening.
As bells go ring-a-ling-a-ling,
Its “Fa la la,” we hear folks sing.
An elf joins in on piccolo
As bells go ring-a-ling-a-ling
And old St. Nick goes, “Ho, ho, ho!”
Once commenced the fest of feasting and giving thanks for genocide,
‘Tis the season to be jolly to replace our thoughts of suicide.
Santa claws his way into a child’s mind insidiously,
And the air begins to reek again of yuletide idiocy.
The bliss of belief in an ancient hippie turned into a homeless wizard,
Adjoins the joy of gifts from an obese geriatric myth flying in a blizzard.
Eight deer reign behind his ninth whose nose an eightball thaws,
Fa-la-la-la-chainsaw-sounds-that-make-me-gnaw-my-inner-jaw.
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas,
It follows us everywhere we go,
Take a look and ask like Jack, “what’s this?”
And see it’s but blinding capitalism aglow.
A Blitzing Christmas Carol
The birth of Christ
The birth He sacrificed
Sacrificed for man
Sacrificed with a plan
Plan for forgiveness
Plan of Christmas
Christmas is festive
Christmas is restive
Restive of waiting
Restive of separating
Separating of love
Separating from above
Above where Angels Sing
Above on an Angels wing
Wing of a dove in flight
Wing of peace this night
Night of joy and caroling
Night of rest and healing
Healing with a Christmas gift
Healing hearts with a lift
Lift up your arms
Lift up the harms
Harms that we do
Harms that renew
Renew the joy
Renew and destroy
Destroy the hate
Destroy and create
Create smiles and laughter
Create like a crafter
Crafter of Christmas cheer
Crafter of presents is here
Here comes Santa Clause
Here he gets applause
Applause in the shopping malls
Applause through the halls
Halls with boughs of holly
Halls with fa la la of jolly
Jolly old St. Nick
Jolly old man is thick
Thick layers of snow
Thick enough to throw
Throw away the plate
Throw in to celebrate
Celebrate in the Lord
Celebrate with reward
Reward in eternity
Reward of fraternity
Fraternity...
Christianity ...

Singing in the Rain by fodyne
By the time
I teetered
on my first bike
I learned
to fa-la-la
sing through life
suffering smothered
by stories in song
I found friends on the B-side of
my sorrow
in lyrics I transformed
from pain to poetry
lost myself in music
secluded in elusion
numb to disappointment
grounded in melodies
my world kept spinning
but I balanced with my fa-la-las
on flimsy foundation
Enthusiasm mounted
in fantasy
With every fa-la-la
I survived one more day
even if my insides
weakened
warped
wounded
I could feel
sure
shielded
unshackled
or like someone else with a fa-la-la
If the arms that held me let me down
I would sing
and the storm stopped squalling
I existed between a fine line
of quietude and emptiness
On dark days I still
sing in the rain
A childhood of -
I would rather be in control
than face my day
I would rather be singing
than feeling anything
My fa-la-la
fairytale
enthusiasm and escape

We’ll sing from the morning this day is now are’s
Many will join us the birds and the bees
The flowers will open and spread through the trees
The owl who’s hiding alone in the dark
Will hear fa la la and join other Larks
A humming from you a la la from me
Will bring us together we’ll sing happily
Fa la la la hmm hmm hmm a whistle from others a hoot from another
a magical melody will sound through the air
A beautiful day for us all to share
Fa la la la hmm hmm hmm
Tis' the season to be giving
(Deck The Halls Chorus)
"Fa la (something) etc......."
A genuine gift comes from
the heart. True " giving "can't
fit in a box.
And it doesn't have a price
tag.
Tags or ok, but don't feel sad
If you can't buy an expensive
gift.
Did it come the heart?
Deck The Halls Chorus)
"Fa la (something) etc......."
Happy Holidays my Soup
Friends. Ho, Ho, Hooooo:) Alexis
Tis the season to be folly
fa la la la fa, la la la fa
Court jesters and gay princes dancing
kissing their desires away in Palaces of derision
sinners around, they abound
Jesus will punish them on and all
Tis the season to be folly
fa la la la fa, la la la fa
Gay smiles and transgender hugs
all the children dancing
so happy and snug
do no harm, all religion doth sing
Tis the season to be folly
fa la la la fa, la la la fa
Hateful preachers
all drowned in the punch
now the reindeer and elf's
have more food for their lunch
Tis the season to be folly
fa la la la fa, la la la fa
The Greeks were gay so long ago
they taught us to be open
any goat goes
to the harem of love
do no harm
love all
Abu Nuwas sips his wine
in his tower of Babel so tall
Tis the season to be folly
fa la la la fa, la la la fa
The forces of nature are odd
So is that why we invent god?
Our deity’s norm
Seems to be human form
And reflects this silly facade
SMOOTH TALKER
“’til Christmas? Just two shopping days
With New Year a few more away
Considering (what you call) merchant ads -
manipulation
With Big Dave there still exists a good will
Sensation
Deck the rooms with Dave’s fine ‘threesome’
fa-la-la-la-laa-re-mem-ber Dave
The ad while not in fine spiritual keeping
shows good will with Big Dave, you save
Merry Christmas all you fine shoppers

Drop on by for some egg nog and
A tune from our Jingle Bell Band
Ho! Ho! Ho!
Come on down y’hear”

DECK THE STALLS
Deck the stalls with lots of Friesians
fa la la la la, la la la la
Tis the season to be Freezin
fa la la la la, la la la la
Donned we now our Carhart apparrell
fa la la, fa la la, la la la
Troll the ancient manure wheel barrow
fa la la la la, la la, ha ha!
The golden daffodils are fading fast,
But beautiful the bank of bluebells bloom.
This stand of beech trees has a lime-green cast
As sulphur yellow, flowers the spiky broom.
There is a madness to the month of May
Young boys sing madrigals from Magdalen tower
Fa-la la-la la, fa-la la-la lay
As birds sing lustily hour on hour.
Around the maypole children gaily trip,
As bumble bees buzz loudly in the flower,
And grown men dance with handkerchiefs and sticks :
A sudden breeze; black clouds portend a shower –
"Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May"
But soon enough, the sun will warm the day.
Whiz-bang the Frog
Whiz-bang the frog
And Toodles the dragonfly
Sit by the pond
Watching the caddisflies
They sing La Ti Da!
They sing Fa La La!
And then Wah-Wah Woo!
A chorus of Doo Wappa Doo!
They sing with the zebra fish,
Under the moon,
And buzz with the skeeters,
Staying in tune.
Knats strum the reeds
Like beats on a bass,
The crickets chirp in
With tunes from the knotgrass.
Damselflies, water bugs
Harmonize a tone poem
And hum serenades
In drowsy overtones.
Skater bugs scat
All over the pond
While Whiz-bang and Toodles
Lead the pond sing-a-long.
