RAIN
raging
relentless
I was a small girl
amid the violence
paralyzed by the bruised skies
“I was mesmerized by the force.”

Who waves the flaming brand? I really think I know.
Arrayed with fiery arms, He puts on quite a show.
The artist of autumn, in a dazzling display
Of sweet gums, and red maples—takes our breath away.
Summer fades to fall, trees give up their green,
Transformed by master design, red, yellow, serene.
Peacocks fluff their feathers; mocking birds busily sing,
Formidable autumn is a daunting thing.
Chlorophyll gives way to radient carotene hues,
Bright with fall wardrobe, wearing color clues.
Clap your hands O beauty, sing into the wind.
Share boundless blessings, blushed in scarlet blend.
Heaven shouts approval; people show amaze,
At your brilliant garments, displaying coats ablaze.
Leaves parade golden in fall’s nippy breeze.
We are highly joyful—God does things like these!

Shimmering sea, glimmering waves
Glistening waters, mirroring moon-glow
Beyond the beaches, coral lagoons
Mellow boroughs, dotting the shore
Rising sun, peaking through the sky
Day has arrived, ousting dark night
Merchant adventurers, sail forth to venture
The deep blue hue, revealed to the crew
Vast is its reach, and cool the salty breeze
Violent are its storms, and mighty its depths
Haunted by sirens, whose tunes take wing
Amid broken dreams, and forlorn hope
Morbid castaways, adrift or ashore
Gaze upon the horizon, dazed and confused
Perhaps they seek, an island of nymphs,
Just like Odysseus, or so they think
This is the sea, daunting and promising
Poseidon’s wonders, for all to see!

We spoke once of our ending life
But never thought of it more until we found
Haunting, daunting, flaunting around;
Shadows dancing before our eyes,
Laughing as they planned my demise.
Passing you with smiles, they settle upon me
Passing you un-subliminally
To kill me?
But the kiss they leave upon my cheek
Withers with a simple slither,
A mark of death? My knees grow wiltingly weak.
And the stupor of silence you speak of is amiss
In the daunting, dark abyss
We've heard of since we were children.
We’re frozen.
In the darkening clouds, before the darkening sun
We know it’s begun
When the raven cucaws behind us.

Aeneas crept into the depths
of the underground, upright
he stepped
darkly
as dead roses pressed
and she wept
(Persephone)
in the pit
(indemnity)
where shadows slept
bellowing
as bellows sing
so readily
below those mourning bells that ring
burrowed
'neath the death of Spring
borrowed
from the breath we breathe
burroughs
of departed greed
ennui ennui ennui I scream
wake up! this hell is not a dream
and all is eaten as it feeds
and everything is as it seems
and everything is vanity
as Ashteroth to Easter bleeds
calamitous insanity
the bedlam that Pandora breeds
and Neptune drowned himself in seas
abysmal king of dead seaweeds
the pit is dank and dark and deep
and filled with those of restless sleep
and as the riddle of the Sphinx
shows that time is entropy
just as chains are naught but links
our DNA, life's tapestry
unweaves itself unto deceit
stranding us in furnace heat
like the Rich Man full of thirst
as is the last so was the first

We dare not look!
We dare not stop!
We dare not ponder!
Beyond the skin, to a humdrum is a no man’s land,
Build and soothed by the malevolence of such a spellbinding hand,
Forging us, shaping us,
Building us, soothing us and molding us,
Is the potter and his evil hand,
Until, Until we are part of his clan.
Until, until he has prevailed in his nightly plans.
It’s but a satins eye, that’s stirs the malicious fire,
And he the potter, with hot vivacious stick adds life,
To such a vigorous Fire, never to tire.
Until, Until we are part of his clan.
Until, Until he has prevailed in his nightly plans.

Lyric
Say goodnight & go
I'm tired of saying that I won't fall in love with you again
Who knows, maybe I will
Skipping beats, blushing cheeks
Everywhere I go there you are
Daydreaming love scenes in a corner cafe
With a weathered heart in a pile of leaves
Left trembling tectonic tremblings
You get me every time
Loving you is truly daunting
But my bronze eyes cannot see
That loving you is slowly killing me
You get me every time
Why do you have to be so cute?
It's impossible to say no to you
I should keep records of these things
So I'll know what tomorrow brings
Why do you have to make me laugh?
Isn't bad enough that you have to act so tough
Say goodnight & go
I'm not really sure but I think I've been here before
Following you home holding you tight
Whispering dirty things in my ear
Got lucky, you're beautiful when you're asleep
Taking everything off between the sheets
Gently caressing me as I dose off into sleep
But one time, there was this one time
When you called me on the phone
Just to say you had me on your mind
And you told me, oh yes you told me
"One of these days you'll miss your flight
And you'll have to say with me a night
You can sleep in my bed & I'll sleep on the couch
Than again the heating may go out at my convenience"
I'm tired of saying I'll never fall in love with you again
Who knows, maybe I will
Now say goodnight & go.

"it still petrifies me,
even after so many attempts,
the daunting task,
of forgetting you..
of unlearning,
your voice,
your eyes,
your kisses,
your promises..
at first my heart revolts,
but it must be done..
so i hold on courageously,
and march along..
but to forget,
i must first remember..
so, i replay..
all the nights we shared,
and the sunrises we saw..
all the secrets we told,
and the promises we made..
only then i proceed,
to dismiss,
to erase,
to forget..
i retrace all the steps we walked
and i replace all the things you touched,
i bury all the gifts we exchanged ,
and burn all the poems you wrote..
only i must be penalized,
for being fantastically foolish..
you will be spared..
but abandoned..
much like a nasty half-truth..
i will not,
cry or yell or whimper,
but i will also,
no longer share,
the gift of,
my voice,
my smile,
my aura..
for you must learn too,
alongside me,
that the only way,
to not get hurt,
is by never getting,
TOO ATTACHED...

must bite a trembling lip
in lieu of lacking confidence

A Daunting Mountain Slavery Raised
An injured knee suffers in times of rain.
Seasons of counting costs raises mountains of debt.
Yet... faith can move a mountain,
At the expense of Love... immeasurable.
There is forgiveness,
Until next time,
When the lessons forgot, are relearned again,
... And again.
So flawed are we, with virtues limited by sin,
That we must relearn to empty ourselves,
So that God’s Grace can come flowing in.
It's not I, myself nor me, that matters most;
It is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.
The cragged path to destruction that I choose,
Is not for my very best desire,
But sadly a slave to pride a master serve.
And of the rain that flows that my knee foretold,
Are the tears that came from a path I poorly chose.
But if I allow the Spirit to guide my step,
And live by faith, trusting that He’ll do rest,
That Mountain that I chose to climb,
Would be leveled in a moment’s time.
And from that fist I do release,
The strains of anxious toil unfurl,
Gives way to comfort and thanksgiving.
And from my shackles I would be released,
And from my Lord I would find my rest,
If I my Savior trust and dare not test,
I would live with peace, and live free at last.
Free at last.

The gifts are bought and wrapped by now
So I don’t have to think
Of what to get until next year,
Though quicker than a wink
The months will pass and once again,
I’ll face that daunting task.
To wonder if I hate it, well,
You do not have to ask.
The holidays are special times
And give some folks a lift,
Except for all the stress involved
To find the perfect gift.
