A donkey and his rider were attacked
By tigers leaving no time to react
Donkey said to tiger “Chill …”
Tiger growled saying “I will,”
“You’ll bring us riders daily per our pact!”
Crouching beneath the oak tree,
The calico cat waits.
A happy squirrel frolics above.
Then, the predator springs into action.
Enjoying peace beneath the oak tree.
Raking the leaves, happy hopes rise.
Prayerfully remembering God above.
Embracing Mother Earth.
Watching butterflies in action –
Life colors, like the calico cat, decorate.
God’s bountiful blessings flood my heart.
Fragrance springs thoughts to the past.
Nostalgia frolics into my imaginings –
Then, come recollections.
Reality never waits for happiness.
Dreading the predator.
Joy flees like a squirrel escaping.
My soul, crouching, cries.

It was an outrage.
The weaver on the
loom was brutalized.
A design was raped.
The color screams,
I want to live.
Septicaemia spreads.
Time to be ashamed,
when your gut was removed.
The salt hurts on
the bitten lips. A
genome falters.
Let me try to define-
who we are; and
where we are going.

crouching down in the grass
she felt like a puma or at least a tiger
the grass barely moved
she was careful not to breathe
a rabbit went past.
too big to take.
She let it live
She was waiting for a chipmunk
She had spotted him yesterday
He was overconfident
she could hardly wait to
bite off his head
He was as beloved as are yours and mine,
A happy and charming, nine year old child,
Stalked by a secretive, crouching tiger,
Hiding in his bloodstream, fearsome and wild.
It was just a little classroom picnic,
Paper bags filled with a nourishing lunch.
Their appetites whetted by the outing
They were a very hungry bunch.
With keen anticipation they stopped
To enjoy the culinary delghts,
But this child must carefully examine his
Before he takes any bites.
Peanut butter sandwich, given away,
Trail mix! He dared not eat any of these,
Leaving him nothing but a small cookie,
His young appetite to appease.
He took one bite, all that was needed
For the crouching tiger within.
His promising life was now ended
Before it could even begin.
There is plenty of blame to go around
Between the parents and the school.
He paid the price for their carelessness,
Allowing the firece tiger to rule.
