Is it a crime
To pry apart rhyme
Stitch lines, unhitched
From native consequence

To warily marry
Unmetered time
By forced remorse
Unrehearsed
In patchwork verse

In my malaise
My daydreams ablaze
I long for eloquence...

     to drip, untripped

From my lips

The devil rides
my prideful hide
Chastise with whip and spur
Damning the span
Between who I am
And who I wish I were.

ASP OF GRIEF

She buries her head upon this asp of grief —
soft with reptilian fangs, hard with poison.
Her covetous husband lies upon the Nile’s reef.
She holds her abdomen in her arms - his son.

with lunar belly...
the shape of her husband’s seed
...a fateful eclipse

The pit with its bone-chilling cold, hisses with hatchlings,
dreaming of spoiled seeds and seas with a vortex,
coiling around ships. A queen’s lips burn red, yearning for her king.
An abandoned wreck will not lay eyes upon his baby’s sex.

insanity’s kiss...
eyes burn with crimson lipstick
...unrepentant flames

She plays with sticks and desire, enticing asps of despair —
gorges with vampiric teeth. She embraces their mock
and likewise teases, beckons and pleads for death so fair.
Like a breeze about her ankles snakes snip her royal purple frock.

entanglement frays...
dyed purple threads unravel
...rigor mortis strikes

His candle ensign in the dark, a resurrected hero of vanity.
The light flickers with feet in the sand, footprints at lover’s leap.
His profile in death’s shadow, his purple passion of insanity —
laughter litters this carnivorous cave where ashes of dust heap.

alluring ashes...
Salome’s serpentine dance
...Cleopatra’s veils

The sound of a knife being sharpened, his sword with venom drawn,
leaps upon his self-righteous chest, a single blade’s deep penetration.
No handsomer lover, thighs of steel, tanned and craven brawn.
He lost his rapturous beauty bright and fleeting, weeds of veneration.

bilious-amber
mixes with his crimson blade
— a suicide pact

Beauty In My Palm

You are the wild flower in my palm
With no stem to keep you anchored to this covetous earth
You are the fragile thing I dare not cup,
As your petals whittle away under the wind
And flit unfettered in the air;
Exaggerated fear leaves my fingers numb
Hungry need leaves my fingers twitching
And my hand is paralyzed by turmoil
As every breath of wind takes another petal from me
And brings to my lungs, my chest and my heart
An overwhelming scent of need-

You are the wild beauty in my palm
And I dare not hold you to my chest
For I fear to crush you
To know first hand
That caged beauty, is beauty no more.

Premium Member An Exultant Reverie

             ___________________________________________

Peaceful solitude,
letting exit of daily routine,
surrender to peace,
deep breathing calms the spirit,
relax tight muscles,
exhaling painlessly,
away from extraneous impacts,
falling into happiness.

Our palms are extended,
only a few inches away,
approach the
shrouded sanctum,
excitedly expecting,
the lavish outpour,
with the cherubs,
leap forward,
our contaminated chalice,
we shed transgressions,
slithering veneer,
digging for who we are,
out of the covetous quagmire.

Gradually into an ecstatic reverie,
where time and space are muffled,
mental symphony, being level and quiet,
quietness says volumes,
rich and calming,
controlling all noises,
who enters my head?
stillness grows inside,
permeating every bodily fiber,
magically interacting within,
so aged things may be rejuvenated,
a baffling land that hides delight,
swaying daisy petals and soft skin,
circles of cutlery.

Colorful smells scent them
pasted text paralysis,
capture lovely theaters,
subtle care cracks,
juxtaposed with colors and rich smells,
falling and reveling.

Jealous Jupiter

Through endless, vast, eternal space
there hangs my most omniscient orb.
So far a dark and lonely place,
no sunlight to absorb…
just as my dark and lonely soul,
forever unexplored.

My many moons of sordid glow,
as all my suitors orbit slow –
but Titan’s love I longed for so,
forever mine ignored…
and left this dark and bloody spot –
forever to abhor.

*A comparison between a covetous, lonely love and that of Jupiter for Saturn's Titan :).

Seeker

I searched long and far
for a good man
a kind and Holy man
One who was not consumed
by wealth
position
power
or lust

I wished to meet
a compassionate
loving
selfless man
Who was
Fearless
Bold
Yet slow to anger

Instead
I found
scared feeble men
Who had not kept their vows
They were liars and adulterers
Covetous and weak

In each of their limitations
I recognized
My own failures
My ego
My appetites
My selfishness
and so I felt ashamed

I cried to God
Are there no good men?
God comforted me
Revealing the true nature of man
Their kindness
Their Love
Their Loyalty
Their striving
Their beauty

God Removed my shame
For that was what separated us
Shame prevented me from
Seeing
Knowing and being
a good man

Then behold
my blind eyes became clear
I could see
Good men
Kind men
Both Holy and flawed men
As I looked into their eyes
I knew there was hope

And I thanked God

Premium Member Where the Antelope (Used To) Play

Where the antelope used to play is now shopping malls and plats.
Man in his insatiable greed has encroached upon its ancient habitats.
Not so very long ago on the plains just a few miles out of town,
Were herds of these graceful creatures that now have dwindled down.

Also, pushed from the verdant plains are the mighty buffalo,
That grazed upon the lush, green grasses not so very long ago.
Upon these sacred grazing grounds are now concrete parking lots,
And densely cluttered cookie-cutter houses on quarter-acre plots.

Where have all the magnificent wild turkeys gone,
That used to preen and strut about at the break of dawn?
Even the lowly prairie dogs, their burrows they've had to flee,
To accommodate covetous developers who've gone on a building spree.

Of the wily fox and skulking coyote, there are fewer to be seen.
They were forced from their hunting grounds and have fled the scene.
Desperate flocks of grouse and pheasant have also taken flight,
To raise their young elsewhere, escaping mans' spreading blight.

Deer and elk that once peered shyly from almost every copse;
Their environs now occupied and overrun with tacky shops.
'Twould be novel if man would recall that these creatures were here first,
And consider them when pursuing their unquenchable expansion thirst!

Morsels of Deceit

Give the people what they want,
let them have it   quickly
The pot is on the boil,
hissing steam
Desires of an improper seethe

Angry thoughts on a roil,
the patience of diligence dissipating
Hurriedly, they the cast the peppery vote
For they all savor a king:
they alova his sweet, dainty speech

A savior king made of decaying flesh,
provides a nasty tasting

An unsightly welcome
to a feast of fools
Reaching clamorously for their
salty tongue tools
Their left hand holds the fork,
the right hand grips the knife
And belly growls
silver spoon demand
for the promised porridge
to be poured out more than twice

They have a gluttonous delight
for deceitful meat
The richness of the spice
gives the poor, ballot-starved souls
a covetous appetite

They say it don’t platter matter,
‘bout the color of the meat
But it seems the flavor tone changes,
when you turn up the heat

Give the people what they want ...
let them have it, poll quickly

Ever desirous for morsels of deceit —
Put a knife to the throat,
when that elected, grin ruler speak

Perilous Times
Written: by Miracle Man
September 25, 2020

Lord, Hear our prayers as we intercede,
on behalf of our troubled world today.
Disobedient people good thoughts impede,
and each day brings some new affray.

Today we are living in those perilous times,*
that you said the last days would bring.
The media reports daily on riots and crimes,
change our hearts before death bell’s ring.

*2 Timothy 3:1-4
1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
      4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

The Bill of Duties, Part I

You have a right to speak your mind freely,
and express what’s important to you,
you have a duty to make your words sincere,
and do what you must to speak the truth.
Also to protect those who would speak out,
even if with them you do not agree,
because if you try to silence them
then you’re a hand-maiden of tyranny.

You have a right to worship what you will,
to believe the dictates of your conscience,
and not to let this be taken by folks
who claim that your morals only offend.
To never spread what you are thinking
by resorting to harsh methods of force,
and to resist those who would do it to you,
live-and-let-live, as a matter of course.

You have a right to assemble, protest,
to demand redress for the powerful,
to remember no right is optional,
but those in government do wish to full,
and that your protest must respect others,
since they also have a claim to this right,
and should the oppression continue on,
you may have a duty to go and fight.

You have a right to keep and bear weapons,
to defend your life with great lethality,
you have a duty to own a weapon,
to understand it’s use in entirety,
to never us it unless there is no choice,
since a weapon only has one purpose,
to know when to use it, and if that time comes
to understand what happens when you miss.

You have a right to possess property,
to control all the fruits of your labor,
and a duty to respect the hard work
shown by the property of your neighbor.
To not let the success others have earned
drive you to a covetous jealousy,
to understand that all civilization
is based on people using their property...

CONCLUDES IN PART II.

“Route 66” (Part 2)

The Wicked Old Witch stalked her, flying above
on her revved up battered old Peugeot Stick made from
twigs and oderous putrifying brown crud.
Up to this point all silent, the ugly old hag now cackled her passive abuse,
“You may have those Red Shoes Dot, but what matters to me you dim-witted dove,
is that, I now possess forever,
what you truly “most” Love.

Dot was dying bit by bit from the inside, but her fierce Warrior Spirit,
kept her soul burning with pride,
her head held up high,
however, at this point in the story, she wished she had a big gun loaded
with sharp deadly bullets of Bromargyrite.

Dot ignored the covetous old hag, pitied her, that much can be said,
you see, her brother the mindless Scarecrow, was bolted up tight, locked in a cold Tin Shed -
(punishment, his crime: “no brain in his head”);
Dot continued to soldier on forward,
kept up her Warrior’s stride
and thought of the moral in that story about one’s own bed,
there was nowhere to hide.
Dot now thought to look down at her magic sparkling shoes,
Ruby Red,
thought clicking them twice but what was the point,
all that was Home was now dead.

Dot took her eyes off her feet, with eyes now open wide,
she stood stock still, she noticed with pure horror,
clearly understood -
Toto, whom she loved “Most” of all
was missing, no more by her side,
nowhere to be seen
in this dark nightmarish neighbourhood.

A Lion came out of nowhere emerged from the mist,
Somewhere a tawny owl hooted “Who? Who? Is this now a tryst?”

He was holding his tail and a deck of Queens Slippers,
He purred ever so nicely, “Where to now Missus?
I’ve got your back. I’ll stay true.”
“How hard can that be,” he thought, “to dissolve all of her indigo blues?”

Somewhere in the background all foggy
but right on track,
ACDC was playing, that song,
you know the one,
“The Jack”.

My Green Lady

Green, green, is my lady's face
If ever friends become common place
Should I converse with others too long
She hangs her head in selfish disgrace.

When another comes along
And she catches me glancing wrong
Her attention then becomes quite keen
With her grip becoming doubly strong!

Green, green, is my lady's sheen
And you may just consider it mean
That I would elate to see her changed
To that covetous shade of pea green.

You see, she's a wee bit strange
In fact I think she may be deranged
For, she purposely ruins all my moods
I just can't wait until we're estranged!

Green, green, and terribly prude
And a great cook if you like stale food
She's always asking, "Is she the one?"
To names my conversation alludes.

She seems to weigh a whole ton
And withdraws if I ever have fun
Then, should I ever come home at dawn
She makes me recall the things I've done.

Green, green, is that devil's spawn
Who always makes me feel withdrawn
And when she pressures me to excess
I close my eyes and wish she was gone.

Well, I really should confess
My lady is....."Lady Loneliness"
And only Father Time will attest
To her who lays my lady to rest.

One Percent

Look into the eyes of the suffering
For a moment open your soul to
The riches of you covetous love
Keep you blind from the future
And the loss of your vitality

Be wary of the truths
Unknown to those who create the illusion of comfort
For no man can understand fulfill love
At the sacrifice of another being
