Soft is the pillow beneath my head
as dread sweeps over the world
Haunting dreams with chilling screams
shrill as a lonely wind
Crisp and cool is the linen sheet
ample and soft in my generous bed
Instead of the act of counting sheep
I count the ones who trudge the night
who shake with fear in weary flight
While those who sit so eagerly
sit smug and bask, contently reek
with pride who boast philanthropy
What consequence lie the victory?
Who pretends surprise that when a limping peace
Returns in fragments a nation's youth
Do they turn their heads, for second look?
Those who stand erect in patriotic pride
Forgetful that it was not they who've sacrificed?
When dread sweeps over the world tonight
Bleak as a wind in the desperate fight
As I lay myself down to go to sleep
I pray for young souls who now lay dead
And pray for souls that trudge the night
And all the brave who fight the fight
Now I lay me down to sleep
And last I pray for those who weep...

Cool raindrops kiss my cheeks
A warm breeze rises within me
As I recall the moments
Which linger in my heart forever
The pulsating sphere of light and dark
Polar opposite lovers in the circle of life
Encompassing magnificent visceral nuances
Infinite shades of gray, slate, and steel
With mauve interludes
An elegant intimate tapestry
Complete with tears of joy and pain
Sharing love and grief
Gazing upwards I join my brothers and sisters
On jagged bare branches
As cool wind rustles our feathers
The white hawks, eagles, vultures, and their tribes
The birds of prey who gather
Sharing tales of their journeys through time
We all stare out
Our senses prickling with anticipation
A silence hovers
A shared glimpse
A collective inhale
Our ears and hearts awaken
Virgin raindrops fall on thirsty ferns
Their limey tendrils outstretched
Quenched in gratitude
A low rumble
Footsteps below
A clearing in the forest
Created by children gathering
Giggles and dust rise
Excited young mouths
Speaking in pantomime
Gesturing with kind intentions
Young creatures of the world kingdom
Unconcerned with language barriers
Sharing evolving consciousness
A wink of an eye
Hands on chest - feeling our heartbeats
Laughter emanating from within little bellies
Spinning freely in circles
Arms outstretched wide, heart open and exposed
Vulnerable in delight and anticipation
A low cello vibrates nearby
A gentle breeze rustles leaves
Which float in the air embracing light rays
Mesmerizing all
Pine boughs perform shadow puppet dances
On cascading rock walls nearby
Elders lean contently against tree trunks
Smiles slowly emerging as silent tears flow
A young child skips over
Tenderly grabbing her grandfather’s arm
Opening his hand, she plants a wet kiss
On his age-stained palm
Then gazes up at his toothy grin
Before returning to the gathering
Wild beasts arrive and quiet
Kneeling by water’s edge
To drink and watch
Hands clasp
A sharing ensues
A vibration rises
As souls gather
Radiating light and hope to all

My Kentucky in Fall
Peaceful country roads winding through meadows and hills,
and golden rays kiss purple asters, tall ironweed and abundant goldenrod.
Gorgeous colors are greeting me despite the warning that drought
would hold them back this year.
Glowing yellows, warm reds and burning orange leaves are clinging
to the heavy branches, limbs swaying in the autumn breeze.
Fallen leaves dance to the music of the currents,
poison ivy vines wrap the stately maple in crimson.
Damp snapping turtles sun themselves on a rock in the creek,
while further up a blue heron is standing silently, watching the
slow flowing water, until he is ready to strike.
Our majestic Ohio river reflects the cloudless, azure sky
while bordered by densely covered cliffs that are
decked in their autumn finest.
Profusely blooming red cardinal vines cling to the rocky ledges
are kissed by happily buzzing bees and bouncing butterflies.
Pumpkins, ghosts and witches decorate porches and front doors,
gray barns are brimming with hay, tobacco and corn,
contently harboring their bounty.
Acorns, black walnuts and hickory nuts are plentiful, yet squirrels
do not seem in a hurry to bring in their winter supply.
Smiling, waving hikers are climbing the autumn scented hills
to Tioga Falls, and Virginia Creeper vines show pleasing colors
along the old Rail Road Bridge.
On the side of the road the lush cedars have developed
their silver-blue berries,
and wild rose bushes are displaying their red rose hips.
Autumn has come to my Kentucky.

I won't let happiness be my idol,
but it doesn't mean that I have it not.
Committed love is my ultimate goal,
and having one husband is quite a lot.
Perhaps there will be an alluring glance
from an enticer, seeming without flaw.
Not for the love of another romance,
will I ever break God's Covenant law.
My happiness is not all about me;
my title's revered above emotions.
My job is to care for my family
as wife and mother, my deep devotions.
As an example of Christ's sacrifice,
a good husband lives to die for his wife.
Like the Church body, submission's her price
and she does it willingly with her life.*
I take to the grave my matrimony,
by God's grace, set apart in holiness.
For this is my earthly testimony,
a working to mature a Christ-likeness.
With devout contentment I choose to live,
with an enduring competition of
which dear companion can greater forgive
and which prized better half can longer love.

I love you, not
Because you’re all everything
But ‘cause you inspire me to be something
I, without you, can never have a lot.
Love for me is not sweet
If you don’t fill me with plain longing
Though I know we’ll soon be meeting
Love I can’t live without even for a minute.
You won’t need to be my soul mate
Because you know by your true sharing
Of ups and downs in living
You and I are united in the same fate.
Not all your dreams though
Are coming into this tough reality
But I contently live those desires as destiny
Not at all regret saying I always love you so.

"(Two roads) diverged in a yellow wood and I choose the one less traveled by and that has made all the difference.”
Quote by - Robert Frost
Forsaken Temptation
I saw two signposts when out walking one day
One said “Paradise” and the other “Please Stay”
Should I walk with hope toward my envision
would that be making a wrongful decision.
Pathway to paradise in my mind foreseen
Enthralling flowers and trees, bridges o’er streams
Bright rainbow and bluebirds adorning the sky
A scene once narrated in a lullaby.
The ‘Please Stay’ signpost tugged upon my heartstrings
Bringing back memories of all kinds of things
Some of them golden, some coming with regret
A combination of the life I have lead.
I had a dream of what paradise would be
Somewhere all who dwelled there did so contently
Where hallowed love's the alluring incitement
The surroundings an enchanting enticement.
Soon came time to sort the complex of my mind
Was my lifestyle something I could leave behind
Standing with tears slivering down from my eyes
I solemnly asked the Lord to be my guide.
The decision I made was that I must stay
Where I was needed by each night and each day
All it took was some divine mediation
My salvation was forsaken temptation.

I was young, working in the back duct; when the elders started to speak
A joyous moment has arrived, open the flood gates for LOVE unique
As they rapturously paraded down the contour of the young man's cheek
AS HE SAID " I DO "
As I looked out the mirror of the young man's eyes; I too wanted to run
A Love so true, an oath to entwine Together; Always and Forever as One
I smiled contently, for I knew in his words pure Love had begun
" LOVE YOU "
But then the boom's mooring snapped : whipping Her into the deep blue sea
I lead a brigade of my peers down the trail of my forefathers glee
We marched that same trail , differently : in sorrow, despair and misery
" ALWAYS AND FOREVER "
Onward I bravely lead my comrades to a desolate place where we would die
I know we were not the only tears this young man's broken heart would cry
He never had the chance to hold Her, to kiss Her, to say I LOVE YOU or Good-bye

"Give more than you take… live as if it is your last day and love fully, with each breath… and intentionally, with a love that God will assuredly bless" – Quote by Poet
Listen to the sound
Of your heart’s yearning
Listen to it pound
A flame of light burning
Grace calls through the wind
Singing praises on a breath of hope
Silencing the shadows, resigned
To erasing the pain so hearts cope
Laughter falls from the soul
Who dreams, believes and feels
Brighter than those who console
With joy that kindness reveals
Songs of inspiration fall gently
On tender hearts who love freely
Music bleeding affections contently
Warming spirits with passion ideally
Hues of carefully designed prayers
Arouse blessings that fall down from God
Sweet miracles of serenity which shares
Brilliant insights from the One we applaud
Creativity lights up the life who knows
His way is always the best way to go
Lighting the mind with poetry and prose
Shaped by those who feel His love flow
With my heart and mind brought alive
By the fiery flames from His gift
Of grace that abides and will revive
Tenderness born of joy which will lift
My philosophy is a blend of faith
Hope and love that comes from above
Brought to life by the word He saith
In blessedness we can barely speak of
With all my heart, mind and soul
I long to contribute to this earth
A smile, a thought, a light – beyond control
Trembling with wonder like the virgin birth
With all of me, I blow a kiss to the sun
Who beckons me to see and receive
Love on the air, in the seas and in the Son
Who brings new life to those who believe

Are you truly happy
Happy with your choices and life
Do you have regrets
Consuming, running rife
Are you happy with “you”
Do you like the who you are
Or is your inner turmoil
Keeping happiness afar
At the end of your days
Will you look back and contently sigh
Knowing you made the most of this life you had
Or sigh sadly consumed with regrets …..before you die!

Brought forth into this world
an innocent child, by birth;
yet born equal and free
in rights and dignity.
Live and let live
this gift the recognition
as an unique individualised person.
Let it grow in the freedom of laughter
and own thoughts of its happy ever-after…
Let it be, let it strive
let it be alive –
it has the right to life and liberty
and is enfolded by the hands of security.
Grow up, little child,
you are free
from imprisonment and slavery.
Do not fear of being abused
or unjustly treated or used.
You are worthy of a shield that fights
for your undivestable human rights.
Be not afraid to live,
to love and to forgive;
to wipe away all sorrow –
there might be no tomorrow…
Go ahead – trust, believe, pray;
you have the freedom to do it in whatever way.
The freedom to thought, conscience and religion –
Child, you have the right – it is your decision.
By being educated, being drilled
you may one day change the world.
Promulgate what you know now
and contently observe just how
this diverse world instantly unites
when fighting for its human rights.

Mud Puddle Muddle
Why must mud puddles always be
Just sitting there in front of me?
Calm and still in sunlight’s flash
Inviting me to make a splash.
And why do I, though dressed for school,
Just wade right into this muddy pool?
To make mud pies and muddle muffins,
A make believe turkey with muddle stuffin’.
Somehow the mud moved here to there
From my shoes into my hair
From head to toe, I’m a muddy mess -
I tried not to, I tried my best.
And now my dog’s in here with me
Oh, what a messy sight to see.
My dog, who used to be so clean,
Covered with a muddy sheen,
Covered in a grayish brown
That used to be part of the ground.
And then as doggies always do
He shook and all that mud he threw
Muddy droplets every place
On my dress, in my face.
So I threw some mud on him
And then, my dog, he shook again.
I hear the school bus down the street
But the mud won’t let go of my feet.
I need some help with what to choose
Stay in the mud or lose my shoes.
Who are these children who can resist
The invite of a muddy tryst,
Can wait contently for the bus to school
Without jumping in this muddy pool?
When I get home, I’ll be in big trouble
Take a bath that will have to bubble
And I know it’ll happen again
Because “mud puddles are for jumpin’ in!!”

"Shades of Green"
In meadowland, fragrant heather cascaded
While I walked hand in hand flowered kisses invaded.
Pollen descended from golden honeybees
Buzzing contently upon billowing breeze.
Gazing at blue sky, I brightly smile
Into evening light, my eyes to beguile.
A haven of refuge in this peaceful place
Sun-rays touch so gently every leaf's face.
My true love appears in shades of green
As tender emotions emit unseen.
A fantasy paradise, sweet and serene
Passions overflow among beautiful green.
My dreams of delight transport me there
Immersed in embrace without a care.
As tall as green grass, the winds, I kiss,
Curve on curve sways, bending in bliss.

My Gramma as I called her, probably seemed no different than most,
But to me she was the very best, sorry - I really have to boast.
She had grey hair, was fairly stout and always wore a dress,
A waft of lavender to this day, makes me smile, I must confess.
She was a proud woman who stood only 5 feet 3 inches tall,
Her lap was my favourite place to be, when I was very small.
Gramma died after having only 19 birthdays, she was 80 years old,
Her birthday was on leap year and 1900 never had one, so I’m told.
I was so lucky my Gramma lived in our small Ontario town,
I spent lots of time with her, sleeping on her bed of down.
When it was time for me to nap, she’d rock me in her chair,
Quietly humming in my ear and rubbing my long brown hair.
For fun I’d use her old iron, pressing all her dusting rags,
Never told me it would not get hot, it was on its last legs,
She’d thank me for my help and compliment me on my skill,
Then we’d move on to watering plants sitting on the windowsill.
She used to make beautiful pottery and she’d let me mold the clay,
Oh, my favourite times with Gramma, were when we’d sit and play
She had this magnificent button tin, which may sound boring to some,
But we’d sit and study each button dreaming where each one came from.
Some were from fancy dresses while others had adorned shoes,
I would listen so contently, my concentration I would never lose.
She’d talk of far away places, telling me how others had to live,
And why compassion was important, she said I had so much to give.
No other person in my life has influenced me as much as she did,
She taught how to be kind and good, beginning when I was a kid.
Although I really should not say this, but I just cannot tell a lie,
She spoiled me with love so great, I was the apple of her eye.

Save the Earth
Fossil fuels burning, ice caps melting
we are the reason polar bears aren’t surviving
Nuclear radiation killing, nuclear waste on the river floating,
we are the reason turtles are mutating
Cities porous with lambent lights of bright neon green
we are the reason a star is not to be seen
Automobiles releasing gasses, factories dispensing noxious fumes in a burst
we are the reason global warming is at its worst
Abusing our power to hew forests, pushing aside whatever stands in our way
we are the reason animals feel so gray
Mountain ranges of litter, and some in the gutter
We are the reason the world is stuffier.
Tossing waste in the water, waves picking up litter
we are the reason the creatures in the deep feel so bitter
It’s time to stop pollution, to stop abusing the earth yet still live contently
Lets protect the environment be together with animals in solidarity.

A true friend is a priceless gift.
Never dominates you
But an important part in you.
Unlike others who can falsely define you
A true friend will try to refine you.
When the rest see you as a perfect nobody
He sees you an important somebody.
With remarkable loyalty he never ceases to amuse
And he sees backstabbing as a total abuse.
You always contently cherish his presence
And ardently long for him in his absence.
That is what I feel about you loyal friend,
If you were existing in mathematics
To me your care would be like an exponential curve
Whose asymptote is infinity, you care infinitiously,
Pardon me if my last word does not exist in a dictionary
The thing is I just wanna show my gratitude, it’s necessary.
Your friendship is a symphony whose music sound is loud in my ear
But never tears my tympanic membrane,
It causes tears somewhere else in me, in my eyes dear,
Tears of joy and happiness when you remind me I’m worthy,
The core of your friendship is burly…
