Giggles and Dust Rise

Cool raindrops kiss my cheeks
A warm breeze rises within me
As I recall the moments
Which linger in my heart forever

The pulsating sphere of light and dark
Polar opposite lovers in the circle of life
Encompassing magnificent visceral nuances
Infinite shades of gray, slate, and steel
With mauve interludes
An elegant intimate tapestry
Complete with tears of joy and pain
Sharing love and grief

Gazing upwards I join my brothers and sisters
On jagged bare branches
As cool wind rustles our feathers
The white hawks, eagles, vultures, and their tribes
The birds of prey who gather
Sharing tales of their journeys through time

We all stare out
Our senses prickling with anticipation
A silence hovers
A shared glimpse
A collective inhale
Our ears and hearts awaken

Virgin raindrops fall on thirsty ferns
Their limey tendrils outstretched
Quenched in gratitude

A low rumble
Footsteps below
A clearing in the forest
Created by children gathering
Giggles and dust rise
Excited young mouths
Speaking in pantomime
Gesturing with kind intentions
Young creatures of the world kingdom
Unconcerned with language barriers
Sharing evolving consciousness

A wink of an eye
Hands on chest - feeling our heartbeats
Laughter emanating from within little bellies
Spinning freely in circles
Arms outstretched wide, heart open and exposed
Vulnerable in delight and anticipation

A low cello vibrates nearby
A gentle breeze rustles leaves
Which float in the air embracing light rays
Mesmerizing all
Pine boughs perform shadow puppet dances
On cascading rock walls nearby

Elders lean contently against tree trunks
Smiles slowly emerging as silent tears flow
A young child skips over
Tenderly grabbing her grandfather’s arm
Opening his hand, she plants a wet kiss
On his age-stained palm
Then gazes up at his toothy grin
Before returning to the gathering

Wild beasts arrive and quiet
Kneeling by water’s edge
To drink and watch

Hands clasp
A sharing ensues
A vibration rises
As souls gather
Radiating light and hope to all

My friend, this truly is an outstanding poem. Great flow, masterful imagery and such positive verses as to bring joy to the reader! Tells us life can be beautiful and very fulfilling .All we have to do is--truly-- open our eyes and listen to our heart and soul. Somehow we seem to forget as we transfer into our adulthood. Another gem, another fav. God bless. YDD

A young child skips over, Tenderly grabbing her grandfathers arm, Opening his hand she plants a wet kiss. l loved these few lines because: they remind me of my grandfather, when i was six we spent 2 months in Greece before immigrating to Africa,my grandfather kept the hand made childish decorations I made till Easter, our relationship continued, he was my mentor, have posted two or three of his poems to me, spent my 21st in Greece at his home. Thank-you for memories you brought back. Hugs, Jen.

Dearest Susan, my poetic soul sister, I am ever gratified to be held in the radiant light and embracing spirit of your poem celebrating the unity of generations, Nature and mystical beings. Your soul has traversed through time on astral and earthly planes to gather beauty to spill on the poetic page like "Virgin raindrops fall on thirsty ferns" - each and every verse is a exquisite facet in this incredible gem. Congratulations for your wonderful and worthy recognition with POTD honors. Your mesmerizing imagery brings me to "A clearing in the forest" where "giggles and dust rise" and I want to stay forever. Warmest wishes and hugs sailing on white wings.. ~Susan

Congratulations on p.o.t.d. award, dear Susan! Once again you captivate with striking imagery and appeal to emotions. What I find very impressive is the reference to the children who one day will inherit what we leave behind, hopefully something which they'll be grateful for. The child and her grandfather ... the passing of the baton from the present generations to the next. ~ Warm regards and hugs, my friend // paul

"Hands clasp, radiating light and hope to all." Such a beautiful moment. I'm visualizing togetherness, being united, instead of being divided. This applies to the animal kingdom as well. This is uplifting and spiritual, all at the same time. My heart is smiling. Congratulations Susan, on Poem of the Day. Many wonderful blessings to you. :) Hugs, Brandy
